  • Attraction is a fickle matter. Call it a vibe or energy or aura, it is indeed a powerful unseen force that influences our relationships. In the metaphysical sense, energetic attraction stems from the belief that everything in the universe is made up of energy, including human beings, and that this energy can interact and create connections between people.
In this episode, we're going deeper into the concept of Energetic Attraction, by answering these questions:
⚡️ What traits make someone attractive?
⚡️ How much control do you have over who you're attracted to?
⚡️ Can you become more energetically attractive?

Enthusiasm and a Lust for Life are so important too. For me, anyway. I also appreciate sobriety the older I get and guys that aren't into the bar scene.

Really insightful episode. Most of the things you guys mentioned resonated with what I'm looking for. But before I ask that from another person I must find them in myself. It's just fair to give out what you're looking for so the relationship can work out and be as fulfilling for both.

What a beautiful episode. I must say that of course I agree with all the qualities you guys mentioned, but an additional one for me is dancing. I took ballroom lessons for years, and it always has been difficult for me to dance with other men because one has to lead and the other one has to be led. I always lead. It’s so different than dancing at the club, just bouncing around, because ballroom dancing is intimate, you have to trust your partner and have a special chemistry. The leader has to be firm but gentle, the other one has to understand what the other one wants to do with no words.
The first time I took my husband on a date, we went salsa dancing, he led, and it was so natural. I felt drawn to him like a moth to the flame, and we’ve been dancing for six years this December.

That sounds beautiful! Yes, there's lots to consider when dancing in that way where you need to communicate with your partner. What a fun example of intimacy.

Matt, your point about men not asking questions is so true … especially in New York where it’s just a lot of competitive monologuing (and not throwing stones … I’ve worked on reducing my own monologue so I am guilty). I do so well with virtual chat since I’m good with words and I cannot stand the inevitable tumbleweeds once a match is made. I put plenty in my profile that helps with icebreakers and I’m happy carrying the convo a bit but it just gets really old.

Funny, Matt, that I identified with a lot of what you said about feeling attracted. I do tend to perceive "kind eyes" as well, though I might sometimes make some mistakes in that regard. And yes, it either turns me off or makes me give up to notice someone is not as interested as I am and not asking enough questions, as I believe I always do. It makes ou wonder they are disinterested or just interested in being admired.

I guess I’ve been attached to alpha male characteristics, like swag, assertiveness, intelligence and a joie de vivre, in addition to the normal good looks. But sometimes, these qualities can blur into ego, which I’ve only recently learned can be a signal of narcissism. I learned this a bit the hard way from someone who I’ve followed online over the past year and have never met in person. He owns a You Tube roller coaster enthusiast/travel channel. He has recently started ghosting my usual comments I usually make on his vlogs, as he moves on to other people to elicit attracted fawning from, which is one of the traits of a narcissist. I agree that eyes are windows to the soul, but sometimes they can reveal darkness. I’ve had to cut back a bit on my communications with him, but there will always be a small space in my heart for him.

Matt, there's a line from the movie Latter Days that I especially like when Aaron describes Kristian as all fluff and no substance and that Kristian was nothing more than a marshmallow peep. I thought of that when you mentioned guys posing on Apps who are all about themselves. I've experienced my share of narcissists over the years and learned so much about myself and a clearer understanding of the codependent/narcissistic dynamic. Humility is an absolute necessity a potential partner must exhibit. A man's "swag" should be all about confidence and never about arrogance. It's also inspiring when a person has something in their life that gets them up and going in the morning that they can feel passionate and excited about.
Reno, my experience in a Body Electric workshop (a few years ago) was so emotionally intense because I chose to be blindfolded during my big draw, and while it seemed most everyone else was experiencing more erotic energy I cried like a baby wrapped in anger and couldn't stop. Afterward, it seemed the whole city I was in moved in slow motion around me and felt extremely surreal. What was especially strange about my experience was during my recovery time on the massage table after the big draw I could hear a room full of chatter only to realize when I sat up that the space where the workshop of 30 people was held was actually silent.

You are so right about gay guys being so incurious. My life coach said if you go on a date and they don’t show interest, end it right there. Needless to say…I’m single 😂

Mr L's Attractive Man reminded me a good deal of Mr Darcy's Accomplished Woman.
I find lately that so many people have a sort of fatalistic attitude towards attraction, rather like Linnet Doyle's. Maybe because the things I like or dislike tend to be slower to appear, I put a lot into the concept of informed attraction, or perhaps more informed loss of attraction.
This did make me wonder how much we really drop things we come to dislike about ourselves and how much we just operate the same mechanism in a different direction.

In my experience there are two kinds of attractions; the one that comes from within, and the one that radiates from the other person. I am already comfortable in my own skin, know and love myself enough; that an added outside attraction beyond my own "IS" what triggers attraction in me. In my experience a fluid attraction is a combined energy from two different sources; not a one sided singular energy, like when we say "what attracts me" like the old saying goes "it takes two" that sentiment applies also to the feeling of attraction. These days my person of interest is like when you place something inside an oyster, and in time you feel it grow in you like a pearl, but without your interference/judgement. I am attracted towards what I perceive more than what my eyes sees. Qualities in a person is in essence the main force behind my attraction; not necessarily what "I" find attractive; hope I am making sense!? what attracts me? the caring, loving, giving, honest, humbleness, forgiving, kindness, and affectionate traits in my person of interest. By the way, a person of interest could be a friend or a lover. Yes, I too am attracted to someone's smell, eyes, and physical features, but at this point in my life an emotional connection is a priority; why!? I can't begin to tell you all how many good love candidates I've missed, because I was too distracted with their physical appearance.

Absolutely makes sense! An emotional connection and the qualities in a person are what truly matter and create that deep attraction.
