It would kinda make sense that could be why it never evolved again it needed both Wurm working together to evolve your point makes a lot of sense after hearing you say it. 1 plus one equals two but when two work perfectly in tandem they make something greater than 2 separately thus third form. They are grass types so perhaps comparable to cross pollinating. It just needed some sticky substance to force a symbiotic cross pollination all along it seems. This new form could be a call back to why they shared a gmax perhaps because they were essentially halves of the same future and needed each other to truly become their best selves. When cultures mix we get wonderful things like tap dancing and delicious foods.

In said info, allegedly the new Evo for Dipplin will be either a gift or a 1 time capture type of deal which will most likely be shiny locked as the Evo item will be introduced on the next Gen. If that is true and I am hoping it is not as I spent lots of time shiny breeding for part 2, while I would feel quite disappointed that would open the possibility for Flapple and Appletun to get another stage if Dipplin Evo item will come on next Gen. Seems like a logical move.
God forbid. Flapple and Appletun had their apples 'evolved', but Dipplin's? Not really. Just went from apple to caramel apple. That alone kinda justifies Dipplin getting an evolution.
I had an outlandish thought that its evolution could possibly resemble the Gigantamax forms of Flapple and Appletun, one of the differences being more than one dragon within the apple, given Dipplin's Pokedex entry.
My crackpot theory is that, just like how Flapple and Appletun had the same G-Max form, both of them and Dipplin will all evolve into the same final form. Flapple and Appletun are just currently unaffected by the Eviolite because they’re still considered fully evolved until the evolution is programmed in.
When I saw Dipplin for the very first time I thought "cool, second stage, it trully needs to evolve into a chocolate fountain, but with apple juice instead of chocolate"

What bothers me about Dripplin is that, while the pokedex states that clearly, there's nothing at all about the creature itself that shows there is indeed two seperate worm-dragons in there. The head or tail don't move differently, there's no movement it makes that shows that... certainly wouldn't be the first time the Pokedex just said random incoherent facts that weren't even possible in fantasy. Especially when for the past two games most entries have just been "it do a fight good."
Whatever this evolution is, it ought to still be something that can wield Syrup Bomb and utilize Dipplin's ability to an extent. I thought of something like a maple tree since they make sap that can be made into syrup, but those don't really grow apples to my knowledge.

What if flapple and appletun also evolve and it givee three forms of the evo but its the same pokemon just rooted in each pre evo depending on which you evolve into it

Yeah, I thought of that given that those forms had what looked to be a very sticky apple (Dipplin represents the caramel apple and has Syrup Bomb and that Supersweet Syrup ability), but I also thought that given Dipplin's entry, there'd be more than one dragon in there, that being the key difference between... I think not. As for Gigantamax, either Dipplin or this evolution would have a Gigantamax form identical to that of Flapple and Appletun.
The fact they haven't patched it yet, means it's most likely confirmed at this point. If it wasn't, they would have patched it out so fast.
