Commitment to the board, deck identity, non streamlined decisionmaking, patience and deck building are all lost to time in this game. Skill is dead, and it feels like only gambling and some amount of knowledge is still present in this game. The issue is the combo of 1 cards and handtraps, and let’s be real, none of that stuff is getting removed. Modern ygo is, much like mtg, beyond saving, and only time wizards and alternative formats, such as domain, can still thrive.
TOSS format was ideally the best time to be a competitive player. Deck were just all around balance. With each checking the other which allowed diversity in deck choice and competitive appeal.
It's at a point where it's impossible for the ban list to attempt keep up with the power creep without multiple of the TCG signature special meta slaughter lists.
Or something like a rule change, new formats of like "Only decks from X to Y" like Edison, banlists that take out all the enablers for FTKs and unfair one card combos

We honestly have to take care of the generic cards that every deck can abuse first. For example, bow of the goddess, sp., damn hand traps, all these generic cards you see in every single deck. We need more summon locks, archtype specific cards, and hard once per turns.( I know it's a conflict of interest with cards being banned that players bought with their hard earned money, though.)
Let’s be honest there’s only one solution: Players stop giving Konami money and request balanced game design. This will never happen because most competitive players secretly love tier 0 formats for the reasons stated in the video, etc.

I have a question in generell: why do different banlists exist (TCG/OCG/Master Duel) arent those all the Same Cards? Why would These Formats have different banlists?
it would be extremly fun if they just make "championship arts" for X staple for example this regional/national split the card u won by topping the event its a "champioship art ash blossom" with exclusive art or some "top player text" somewhere its valuable, its colectable, isnt predatory and u can keep it, or sell.
I think the games problem is that there 10,000 cards but there's only like 80 used at a time. It's insane how badly strategies stand out and cards now having 3 effects each by standard and every deck basically being obligatory 15 hand traps is super boring.
To me, Yu-Gi-Oh! needs a reset. I think a new format to replace Advanced Format is the way forward, removing legacy cards from the competitive scene. Also, introduce a new Master Rule that tackles deck-building structure.
searching card effect is the root of all problems in yugioih, it makes autopilot step by step play and make noob become strong, game skill is so meanningless in many cases, game will action in the same same same same autopilot event.
All they need to do is to make chimera/memento type of decks to higher tiers by lowering the obvious tier 1 decks aka hit SE/fiendsmith cards. Fun format done!

Konami at its early days was way more brave to ban or limit cards ,sometimes even before printing them.. .Now days ban lists are a joke , it "feels" that power creeping matters way more.... Imagine if all the snake-eye cards where limited or semi-limited from day 1, deck/engine would still be good but less consistent. You talking about "soft banlist". But when TCG has the the most diverse format, in last Unchained Era. Somehow the banlist is pretty fast and really harsh and "kills" some popular decks in that diverse format.

The reason for the OCG/TCG list split was that cards get released earlier in the OCG, which caused some cards to be limited on release in the TCG.

Konami is light on the banlist against top tier, but are completely happy to ban tier 3/ rouge decks like mathmech.

UDS gave out custom cloth mats and that was honestly the best thing Konami has ever given as prizing.
To be fair a dimensional barrier errata with link in them could change a lot of things
