    Little tip on the rear, I just sneak my hex thru the rotors to loosen the screws enough to pop the axle lockout out enough to disengage the axle from the diff.

    Love the longer videos, more in depth and when you do them they're packed with info. The Ryft seems like something I want but I kind of want to wait for the aftermarket to get a little bigger. Just like when I built my bomber I can already see I'll want the metal axles, rear sway bar, and a sensored motor. Maybe I can wait for someone to get one and break it and buy it off them for cheap!

    Great information 👍!!! I don't know much about rc diff fluid. I was surprised 1M wt plus earplug didn't seem to limit the slip much from what I could see. With my Quaife limited slip in my GLHS I can jack up one front tire, the other on the ground, remove it and then torque it to 100 lbs/ft.

    I spooled all three diffs. It stopped breaking that day.
    I got tired of blowing out gears and working on it more than I drove it. It climbs steep angles better too. It should have come stock with spools or better diffs.
    Stock diffs suck. The fun ends when the first click happens. I'm not sure which part is worse. Rift diffs or Redcat Gen7 driveshafts. Probably the diffs. Some don't make it through the first battery.
    Good video. 👍

    The video was only 11 minutes... that's just fine! I LOVE the detail you go into. I had wondered about the transmission being so chunky sounding and feeling. Mine is the kit version and being my first, I had it open three times to see if I got it right. Plus the 2sp part is kind of a PITA and if you're not crawling, I'm not sure it's worth it. I do like the locked center diff though.

    You should try This electric screwdriver from Dewalt you can actually use it to tighten down screws on RC cars with no chance of stripping them out. It’s the best one I have found for working on RC’s and I do it daily at my repair shop. It has a weak enough clutch you can hold it between your fingers easily. And you can adjust it strong enough to tighten down whatever you need.

    Alright, I dug into my diffs tonight and compared the internals to a new gear set, the front side gears had definitely rounded off, I knew I had a problem from the clicking, grinding noise just like you had in yours. I experienced it on my first run Sunday. I put locked spool in rear and robbed a shim from rear to tighten up front with new gear set. I left the orings in locked rear. The 3rd shim worked great to tighten up front mesh without letting it bind, 4 was too many. The 2 shims originally in front also weren’t properly installed in the diff from factory both were on one side and was allowing side with o ring only to cut into gear slightly.. I’ll know more after run time, and still need to put some 20million in center to see how it improves!! Center was only diff in mine that was smooth out of box after 2 packs ran...
    Wanted to share my encounter with the ryft diffs with you guys!!
    Big fan of your content!! Been a fan since October, new to the crawler scene!! Learned a lot from your vids🤘🏻🤘🏻👍🏻
    I Got some gear sets and more shims otw!! All the ryft parts have almost doubled in price since Monday on hh’s site!! Stuff is in high demand evidently!! Everything was 9.99, from axle housings to gear sets, not anymore! Front axle housings already on back/order too

    If the hole in the diff for the screw goes all the way to the other side of the diff sometimes you can drill out the other side with a 1mm drill bit. I do this on my Xray T4 diffs to help prevent stripping screws out. Putting longer screws can possibly cause stripping out too with these tiny screws.
    Hope that made sense.

    • @MichaelJohnson-tq6iv
      @MichaelJohnson-tq6iv 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But if you put the relief hole on the other side putting longer screws won’t be a problem.

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve done this in the past and yeah the longer screw helps. Plus if you happen to get oil in the screw hole it has a place to exit. Win win IMO

Just ordered a traxxas maxx and plan on ordering the axial ryft in the next few days and also want a crawler havent decided yet itll either be the axial scx10 iii or the capra. I'd really like your input on which you think is better the scx10iii or capra?

    Let’s talk about earplug. Help understand why the earplugs please. Which plugs do you use.
    I’m tearing my rift down to bar bones and rebuilding because lost all power at the difs. Won’t move. Took the front apart, gears look ok. What would you use to clean the gears to clean them and see what’s going on with them?
    My gear grease is super grey and funky.
    Does the earplug dissolve with the earplug.
    My first truck and of course I went all out 😂

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The silicone ear plugs severely reduce the rate at which the diff can operate. This puts more power to the tires with the most weight/traction. I usually leave a little oil residue in the cup and then stuff the plugs in.
