I like you trying different things to dial in the rig! It's a Rock Racer with a bunch of Power!! It reminds me allot of my Daughters Redcat Windigo!! That rig is a blast! I noticed comments about changing this rig to a crawler, but this is NOT what it is! You want a crawler Buy a crawler!!! This thing looks like a blast to drive and bash around on rocks and hills. Tune it, add a sway bar and rip it!! Stay safe and bash on from Colorado!!!
Right on man, it won't be a good crawler at all until we get the low 1st gear option to put into it. Then it will get better.
That update actually made a huge difference for mine. I have it in my VS410 pro.

I have the V1 3300kv AXE in my Predator Gen 8! After watching the video, I would say it is better in a crawler!

About to build a Ryft Kit. It will be a true scale rock bouncer but it would be nice to have sensored low speed ability still.

Oh man, I had high hopes for this on the rocks. I have that 3300kv R2 ready and waiting.
Maybe instead of the Rift for the crawl/rock racer/basher all-rounder I should steer back toward the Bomber!
Bomber is good for sure. Once they get the low gear set for the trans it will make this a whole lot better.
Wish there was a roller to start out with get the price point down a little bit nice job keeping up with tune in👍

I have been runnung the v1.1 3300 kv Axe in my ryft for a while now with a 13 tooth and yeah its a bit soft and wondering if a bit of timing in it might help?
I agree I get better amp hours on 2s, seems 3s even larger mah still use faster.

I run the r2 2100kv on 3s in my bomber and a trx4 sportish used for trails and crawling. Loved it till I got a fusion pro. Fusion pro is way more consistent at slow speed in my opinion unless I'm missing something in settings.

Mamba X with 2850kv motor on 3S is liked by many bouncer guys. or the Tekin RX4 with a Pro4 HD 3100kv would be a great battle! HINT HINT? as Im on the fence as to which one to get for the Ryft.
An interesting thing to try would be a Magnum and BRXL or maybe just an 8T Crawlmaster

When I think of powerplant. I think closer to the HW XR8 SCT and maybe the 4300kv combo. but it would be fast. so maybe the 3000kv area or 2700kv motor.
Not really a crawler guy, more of a racer/basher but i sure love your videos my friend! Great job!
Could try out the Castle SCT extreme combo, the 2400kV 3670 sized motor has tons of torque and enough wheel speed on 3s. I run it on my bomber and its been working very well for crawl/ trailing with the stock transmission ratios.
I’ve got something else cooking for it.
I have heard drag racers rave about hobbywing...maybe they do something diffrent, but I have never seen anybody doing real reviews say "wow that hobbywing had all kinds of power". Castle with a holmes motor always turns out so good.
this axe r2 is a good system, just not right for this vehicle. Funny you mention Castle and Holmes.... I record that tomorrow evening...

What moter do i need for a ryft to go 45 mph.
Turn the throttle increase rate up to 9 and it'll be alot snappier. I've got this system in my cen f450, and that is also not geared for crawling but I'm working on that. But I still love the axe system in it. But if you want that punch try turning it up a bit I'd even try bumping the timing up, (I havnt had any heat issues by turning mine up) only takes a min to try it.

@@ExocagedRC I heard you mention the delay it has. With mine turned up to 9 and the timing bumped up a bit it has no noticeable delay. Itll pull wheelies with my cen f450.
Exo, there should be a punch setting for the new AXE ESCs. I didn't see you come across it in your video.
I went through everything I saw. The acceleration rate was at 9.
why does my axe 3300kv system stalls when iam in low gear? is it a calibration issue?
What would you recommend doing to the ryft for it to become primarily a crawler? Asking for a friend
Well enjoy it for what it is for now. Once they get the low gear set for the trans it will make this a whole lot better.

Funny you mention that, how about a Monster X and 2100kv Holmes? Hehehehe I should be able to record that this weekend. Already started the instal part.
How about Holmes puller 4100kv? Thinking about trying that in my Bomber next. My 1406 and 1410 3800kv castles both overheat after too many laps racing in the summer.
I’m installing and should be driving this with a Monster X and Holmes 2100kv soon.

Yea, buy a crawler or trail rig
it simply wont crawl well until we get the low gear option for it. Its geared way too fast as it is to really crawl.
where did you get the M1 pitch motor pinion with the 3.17mm hole ? 🤔
This motor has a 5mm shaft
Hey Joe, another great video as always. Can you post the brand name of the hex drivers you used on this mod. I need to buy a quality set. The Traxxas set I purchased is very poor quality as the tips are starting to wear down fast.
There are two out there now. I have the Bowhouse RC tool set in this video as it can fit the 1/4” impact driver. Reefs just came out with a nice one as well with a smaller hex but it has a 7mm nut driver on it for wheels.

I would put my money on a HH Puller Pro L with a Mamba Monster X. And some tungsten weighs in the front receiver box

@@ExocagedRC have you had much experience with Holmes? I am looking to the future in turning my Wraith Spawn into a tough rig with speed for bouncing, and some crawling. I noticed HH offered some good deals on packages, under $230! Really knocks the price down on the Mamba Monster, and definitely seems affordable. I've got alot to learn before doing it, but it looks like HH really puts out a quality motor.

I'm running Hyrax 2.2 Predators in front, G8 in the rear, and even with the Spektrum system it is a capable climber.
Do you have made the calibration of the motor before the updated of the esc?!
I had calibrated before, in the past if the motor isn’t paired to the esc it simply won’t run at all. At least that’s my experience with these axe systems.

I have my Capra setup for 20mph on 4s running a mamba x puller pro 2700kv. It crawls very well. I use the max power adjustment and auto drag brake 100% to adjust my wheel speed on my controller.

Math says you’ve gone from 42mph to 39mph. You’d need a 9tooth pinion to reach 25mph.

Holmes says gear down and volt up. You get more crawl control running a higher voltage and lower gearing for the same mph. I can get 30mph with 6s on my Capra, but it’s just way too much. I mostly use 15mph 3s.
How do you think that HW Axe would do in the Radcat Wendigo? I have one and it's looking for a roller.

Holmes puller pro r 4100kv on 3s in my trx6 killed my mamba x esc. Monster x had no issue with it. It drew 150+ amps.

It has a lot more drag brake than the standards I run in my trx6 (now) and Capra. Once I got a proper truck to bash (erevo 2.0) I decided to mellow out the trx6 with a 3500kv puller pro. The 4100 was nearly as smooth as the standards, but has about 50% more power (1800 watts vs 1200 all else equal).

If you have the gear reduction, the 4100kv 3s system has more rpm so you can get more control with the same wheel speed. Or run the 2100kv one on 6s since it’s a little more rpm than the 4100 on 3s.

That’s the motor I thought of for this to be honest. But you need a better gear ratio. Like a 10th pinion. It wasn’t too happy with taller gearing since the motor draws current so easily it just unloads (builds torque quickly with little throttle input)
yep on all that, I have the 2100kv Holmes in there now with stock pinion and a monster X, I hope to drive it tomorrow after work.

Yep sure does
they re out but I think the first run was by Pre Order. Axial also released a message to contact customer support and they will send you new Housings. They are aware of the issue with the housings and are working with the manufacturer to figure out what the issue was.
@@roberttruesdell6151 I just talked with horizon hobby they sent a replacement for me. But I did glue and reinforce the original axle and it seemed to work. I'm sure axles for the ryft will hot this year from aftermarket companies.

Is castle the one that has that annoying ringing. Cuz it’s so annoying. It was nice to hear this without the ringing that (I think it’s castle esc) has,

I've been posting this same upgrade idea after having my RYFT for only 24hours, Not impressed with the Spektrum System. At least I can see it done before I do mine

So possibly dumb question. But I don't really understand why is it rocking so bad?
The FOC control tries to hold the rotor in a locked position, its not like a normal drag brake, the gearing is so wrong for this setup that its moving the rotor and the esc is doing its thing to correct it.

You do realise you swapped hobbywing for hobbywing? I've chatted with spektrum team for a while and they outsource their esc production to guess who :D Only real diff is the fact you lost lots of amps on esc and got the sensor.
Of course it’s HW making both. Spektrum has been tweaked HW stuff for years.

You can get more punch out of it in the ESC Settings
It was set on 9. The gearing is so fast on this I feel that was the issue.
