- Skunk2 Pro Series ordered directly from Skunk2 themselves and we compare it to the china copies we find online.
We cut the plenum open and analyze it and show you guys. We also port it and try to get the best of each origin manifolds for the intended set up and improved volumetric efficiency. Each engine set-up will like tweaks differently than the others and we talk about this and also the generic work needed that is common for all engines

Hey SRD...good video! ...also, if you look at the S2 pro series B Manifold, you will also find 1, 2, or 3 drilled dimples on the front side of the flange.
Whoa!!! I did not notice that! @David Hsu !! at the shop ima take a peep at the OG skunk2 and squeeze it in on the next video!
Thank you brother!
Oh and hope those P-birds got smashed years ago :p I know u know cuz u know
And in case anyone is thinking “this guy” knows a lot? David Hsu is just the Head Honcho aka Owner aka BigPimp of Skunk2 Racing
And one of the few or the very few where the owner actually does design some of its components and it always stems from his ideas!
Great video u make it so easy very simple thank u once again
Thank you man! It’s just I enjoy it maybe that’s why it seems simple…plus I share I try to make it as layman’s as possible without missing out the tech side ofcourse
This is an awesome video I love your channel. I was wondering what intake manifold I should go with for a B20 VTEC with a stock B16 head and cams
Oh snap!!! Thanks for that brother!!!
Well given that engine set up
U safe with a b16a p30 but for a lil more oomph believe it or not the “replica” manifold should work as the runners aren’t as big as the TypeR so it needs porting to match and exceed a TypeR
Then for minimal work + gains for future mods like pro1 cams a TypeR p72 manifold should be golden or a real real skunk2 ofcourse
@@SRDmotorsports thank you so much man i really appreciate it
@@layer.0481 no worries man glad it’s giving better ideas ftw!
nice!
Yes sir! U know what u got! 😎
Very helpful content! Kinda wondering if this could benefit me in some way if i slap it on my ZC with PM6 pistons stock internals and throws 260psi on a compression test,
yeah the added breathability could help indeed
nice! thank u for the comparison! SRDMotorsports TV
Thank you for checking it out man
Yessir!
Indeed!!
Just be ready to build me a block when you come down to visit Florida 😅!

@@SRDmotorsports Got your back! Trust me! 🤣
sounds awesome!!! 🤣
So I have a few questions, is porting a type r manifold better than just buying a pro series manifold? Also would a turbo setup benefit more from this? Another great vid brother
Well… the real Skunk2 ProSeries (not china) is a shade better than the TypeR mainly on the casting internal size and thickness
If ported? Then the skunk2 has a bigger edge over the OeM as the walls are thicker = let’s me port it more with MORE taper before cutting thru…
actually both NA and turbo would benefit from it… just different sources of benefit like example on NA we know what’s up
But on turbo if the manifold is ported well and helps improve or increase intake air speed on the runners = improves head port efficiency? Then a “big turbo” may lag less… or
For the same 26psi u might make 12-15 even 20 more whp… hence we see set ups like both doing 500whp one makes it at 32psi but the other does it at 26psi?
Il take the 26psi any day… less stress on parts and also what would it make if u crank it up to 32psi right??
@@SRDmotorsports right right that makes perfect sense now and yes I've seen a lot of turbo cars with 30psi right through them but makes really low numbers and I'm like yeahhh something is not efficient with that setup
@@StraightOutThaGudda4U yeah and we car guys so if it makes power at 26psi ? Next month we wonder what it would make at 30psi hahaha
@@SRDmotorsports haha could only imagine
Another great video from the og honda man :) i have a genuine pro series for the gsr head. I wonder how much shipping would be from Canada and if its worth me sending you mine to port. Also i dont have the gasket. Is there an aftermarket one you recommend?
Oh man DHL two way will cost but I think it’s safe for u to use ur normal postal (then il just pick it up at the post here) this way DHL is only from me to you
any oem or paper gasket is good enough actually
@@SRDmotorsports i will look into the cost...thanks!
@@dawsonmacie6984 a lot of times due to the logistics of it, a skunk2 ultra street will suffice to be better… DHL be winning lol
@@SRDmotorsports tru man but i have the pro series so id like to use it. All see whats up with the shipping. Whats your general location?
@@dawsonmacie6984 that makes sense yeah

Random question but do you think running a h22 intake manifold on a d16 is possible? I was thinking casting an adapter plate for it
Maybe but the runners are too short and too big
Reason it works for h22 is cuz stock stroke is already a shade bigger than a b20 which is 89mm and h22 is 90.7mm
Especially when they run f22 cranks at 95mm stroke that piston speed is higher
Hence the shorter runner “cut” h22 works good and plenum size is more the obstacle
I've seen some "real skunk2" manifold that look worse than the China reps, og honda manifold are the best castings by far...
I agree on oem honda
Yeah my b20 skunk 2 is genuine but it must have had some old casting dies bc it’s not super great. Not brand new out of the box i got it second hand for really good price because of it
@@Michal_S0L even the ultras street aren't great looking in the runners... everything is made in china nowadays and claimed in the U.S.
The newer production manifolds were updated so you don’t necessarily have to port them
Yeah the gen2 and gen3 pro series are way better almost like oem
but porting is relevant to engine set up and application
Porting is always necessary sir.
I have bought a China intake but my d15z8 EU engine is stock only things that are done to it are an exhaust manifold and downpipe and a cold intake and a rear mufler. Does porting the China manifold do anything for me? I would say it will not benefit anything because I don't make that much power.
well the main point is original vs china the original is always better cuz the casting is real good and clean only when ported does the china become “okay” to compare
I'm very new to Honda tuning, and would like to ask if I can buy a skunk2 for my Honda Civic ES?
It has b16v1 110hp engine.
@@vivi3576 you can check skunk2 website they have the good parts for your engine yes
SRD,
thank you for vídeo.
I run ES1 D17A2 ¿will these fit?
Best Regards
I am not sure, you can double check skunk2 website to be more certain
@@SRDmotorsportsNot listed; perhaps because D17A2 deserves none interest
@@joseluisoros396 cuz I know the camgears work for d17
I mean check skunk2 website and check this intake manifold it will say what it fits
So rep sk2 base on b16 or itr I'm looking to add to my b20b with a p8r head i know b16 intake well work it'll cost me about the same to get the rep
Sorry I didn’t notice this comment… IMO if it was mine I’d get the sk2 rep mainly cuz the b16 will work and it’s good for a 1600 until 1800 but ur displacement can handle the ITR style sk2 rep good and you can take advantage of it more
Also got this video where I show how to convert a vtec manifold to work for a nonvtec crv head might be useful
th-cam.com/video/8p5vfpBRhnA/w-d-xo.html
@@SRDmotorsports yes I'm mostly chased and low-end torque because I'm using an automatic transmissions out of jdm sir-g on a 94 Acura Integra red line at 7.5k so it seems like the B16 intake would be a better for my situation
Oh now that u mentioned a/T I’d def agree the p30 seems perfect
I think i know where is that going after.😁
Nooo u a wizard 🤣 kidding
gud day po... may png matic dn po bng gnyn.. d16y4 vtec.. ty godbless
aftermarket? None
@@SRDmotorsports thanks sir... godbless...
@@pogtv841 you’re welcome
How much? I have a D16
Ported and with the current exchange rate will hover around $300-320
Unfortunately DHL rates hurt so sourcing direct from skunk2 locally to you in the US might be the better route
So where can I get that skunk2 plate?
I don’t know, all the sellers I know always provided a manifold with a plate
Chinese will copy almost anything 🤦🏽♂️ but on the bright side it has a lot of material to take off so you can shape the ports really nice, also if the knock off intake has more material it should weigh more than the original, so what's the weight difference?
True on the thicker wall… have not checked the weight difference but it’s definitely noticeable like almost a lbs or few diff not even ounces lol
I port these intakes too. Long story short. Stop buying Chinese intakes. Flange runners are offset too and dosent line up with gasket. Its a big L to use a chinese intake in your build.
Definitely agree on the offset and stuff
Use terma tec gaskets from uk it will line up perfect. Mine manifold was from tactical racing so runner ports were samll and I could match te with head very well. But habe seen some copies that are plain bad
Oh there you go , I’ve heard of terma tec indeed
Been trying to get a hold of Frank to purchase a set of 84.5 1up pistons no luck 😫😫😫 messaged him on fb and Instagram
