I dont own 1plus phone but i am telling what , i am really sastified with my pixel fold,much compatible ,easier and simple to use.
The only issue I've had with compatibility on the OP open was with apps which haven't been updated for the latest version of Android.
Which would be the same with a pixel I assume it's on the newest android?

Thanks for another great video Shayne. I am 100% with you......I have both devices (I have technology ho syndrome) and I am torn as well. One thing that is a game chnager for me personally is the Dual SIM capability of the One Plus vs the Fold. I carry two devices one for work and of course my own and being able to plop both SIM's in the Open when it suits me is an option that might keep me off the Fold.....but the form factor and the Googly features are so great. I am blessed to be able to have both and these are first world problems just wanted to share and tell you, once again you are spot on.
I was thrilled with my Pixel Fold, until I bought the Open. As much as I love the Pure android experience, I'll be selling the Pixel. Amongst the other things I like about the Open, I've fallen in love with the camera system, and photos it produces.
How's the experience been to this point? I'm about to swap my Fold4 for the Open
that 3x camera on OnePlus Open like a magic, the photosensitivity ,the contrast relationship between ambient light and photographed object level just like it has been taken from my Nikon DSLR camera . the speaker on OnePlus open is amazing too , that's the top 2 reason I might prefer OnePlus open to Pixel and and it super portable too I even feel lighter than my s23 ultra with case, love this phone !!
Experiencing this same thing lol. Its how I found your video lol. I still cant choose, and switch daily. Currently on pixel....but I really feel it has signal issues. Bars are SO much lower on this than my one plus.

I have the pixel fold and just ordered the oneplus open yesterday. Love the fold but it just seems a bit too heavy for me and the pixel fold does get a little buggy sometimes.
I'm super happy with my pixel fold. It checks all my boxes. You are right. Battery has gotten so much better on this thing. Only issue I have with the pixel is that it has this delay when you open it. Black screen appears and kinda hangs around there for about three to five seconds. Other than that, it's fantastic. This is the perfect size phone.
Couldn't agree more re your comments about the Pixel Fold. I think I'm going back to it from the OnePlus Open...it also just doesn't feel as secure in rhe hand, and I can't get a good case screen protector option to work with the Open.
I love my OnePlus Open but software wise I'm a huge fan of OneUI. The thing about the Zfold is that I don't really like that narrow outer display. I MUCH prefer a normal aspect ratio so I can use the outer display just like a normal slab unless I want that bigger display. So I'm really excited to see what Samsung does with the Zfold 6. There's a rumor that Samsung is going with a more Pixel like passport design. And I've never used the Pixel fold but I don't think I will be mad if that's what they do.
This is what's happening to me with my pixel fold versus my Pixel 8 Pro. I love the versatility of the fold. It's the main device I use in my car because I have a car holder for it. But I can't go too many days without using my Pixel 8 Pro because it has the latest and the greatest AI features. And the display experience is so much better than the closed front experience on the fold. I have also swapped between the pixel watch and the Samsung Galaxy watch 4 classic. I was always that dude that said he would never be a two phone person but here we are. And now I'm even considering purchasing the OnePlus open... Somebody stop me. This is getting out of hand... Lol
I am the same. Would never own more than one device. At one point in 2023, I had 4 devices, all paid for with my own $$. It was out of hand. Now I pared it down to two, the P8Pro and the S23 Ultra. Thank God for Swappa, so I can sell them and recover some $$ it's a good dilemma, just shows how far the tech has progressed...
Im going through one of my dry spells but have an Apple Watch 7, Pixel Watch 2, Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, iPhone 11, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 8 Pro, and am trading in my OnePlus 11 for a OnePlus Open. Dont get me started on bluetooth headphones... Sometimes I feel like a cocaine addiction would be cheaper.
Ive been researching all the foldables for a while now trying to decide and its so hard! I thought i was 100% set on the 1+ open, and now after seeing the aspect ratio and the polish on the fold I’m not really sure. I’m thinking that I should get the full now lol
Hey Shayne, I'm about to buy one of these used and I just wanted to ask if you or anybody reading this. I am asking about the call quality or the signal strength. Is it about as good as any other phone nowadays or does it drop the cell phone signal or a Wi-Fi signal? I heard somebody comment it on one of these TH-cam videos that the person thought the signal strength wasn't that good... I'm just curious
I love my pixel fold because it opens in landscape. Also love that videos fit the outer screen and inner screen when in tent mode almost perfectly. Sold Galaxy Fold 5 for Pixel fold and only regret is not doing it sooner.
I agree... I've had all the z folds and this one is awesome! I love the dimensions and I feel like the content creators all lied about this phone... It's a beast and well thought out! Samsung will have to get super creative for me to switch back... This is better to me!
Also love Amazfit. I've been using the GTR models for a few years. I've had the GTR 3 for a year and a half and still go on average 3 weeks without charging it.
wow 3 weeks,,, that's amazing... I use Garmin forerunner 255 cause it lasts about 5-7 days,,, and thought that was good...

Thanks for this helpful review! - I have now abandoned my Pixel 8 Pro. The operation is so much less convenient compared to the Surface Duo 2. The great camera of the P8P and the great display (which is far too narrow for me) don't make up for that. So I'm most likely to give the Pixel Fold 2 a try.
I love the open but I'm too far into the Samsung ecosystem to leave my fold 4. I just love their OS. Plus i still love the narrow outer screen.
I stated this in a past comment, every seance the 14 beta I have had no problem in bright sunlight. I have went out of my way to max the amount of sun on the Pixel Fold and it has stood up to the sun almost as good as my Galaxy Ultra 23. The cameras are not as good as the Ultra 23 but it come close. The portrait mode with some tweaking is very good but not as good as my Ultra.

I was trading my Pixel Fold for the OnePlus but know that I have both I decided to keep both phones. My Pixel Fold when video chat out in direct sunlight the screen goes black after a few minutes but I prefer the aspect ratio of the Pixel.
I’ve noticed this too. My primary complaint with the pf was the darkness.. too dark when outside on the screen ands camera. Last 2 weeks or so…i don’t see that any longer

I have both. I surely do miss Screen Call feature and hold for me on the Pixel Fold.
I'm right there with you. I switch between both. They both have their respective attributes that work well for me. I honestly love them both. I pretty much do a week to week switch. I just wish the Pixel was lighter. But other than that I love them both. I just ordered the OnePlus watch to use with my open!

Have been doing the same thing since I got the Open. I finally sucked it up and sold my Open. The form-factor and Pixel experience SLIGHTLY beat out the better display brightness, speakers and processor on the Open.
I am in the same boat as you, Shane. Mind you, I also have my Oppo Find N and Duo 2.
I'm still rocking the duo 2. About to go back to the OG duo because my screens are cracked to sh** and unresponsive
You can do floating windows on the pixel fold if you turn it on in the developer settings

I have the Samsung z fold5 and just ordered the OP Open, but now watching these videos looking at the Pixel fold... Looking at Swappa since I can't bring myself to paying full price for the Pixel fold... even at $400 off right now still think that is too much... so I'm waiting for the OP Open to be delivered... which gives me plenty of time to re-think the issue...
I feel your pain. I'm in the same situation and just added the pixel 8 pro to complicate things....2 folds and the 8 pro ...I keep switching them around and I know that there's something wrong with me 😂
This is my current dilemma 😫 I was so sure I wouldn't miss the Pixel Fold that I did it as a trade in for the OnePlus Open. Received it on Tuesday and even though I absolutely love it so far I am missing the size of the Pixel Fold more than I imagined. I have until the 30th to mail in the Pixel Fold and I'm honestly torn on what to do. I can return the Open and keep the Fold, send the Fold in to complete the trade and keep the Open, or keep both. Which keeping both seems crazy lol 🤷🏻

On the Pixel Fold, go into the developer options and find the contrast setting and set it to high. No issues for those that like to use their phone outside.
For me it’s 100% the Pixel Fold. I’ve had the flip 3&4, the Fold 4&5 and the Oppo Find N2 and none of these phones gave me the excitement of the Pixel Fold.
The form factor of the Pixel Fold and the absolute fun of using it for me is a no brainer. Even though I’m a diehard iPhone fan since day 1 I’ve put my 15 Pro Max on the back burner 😊

Currently have the OnePlus Open, but previously owned the Pixel Fold. I love both and I'm a bit torn as to whether I keep the Open or sell / swap back to the Fold or just sell the Open, forget about Foldable Androids for a while and stick to my main device, the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Absolute first world problems!

No issues with Google wallet. Works just fine.
Only big thing you missed is multitasking on each. That topic should always be discussed. I have the open right now.

Absolutely the same dilemma I have, although it is between Samsung Fold 5 and Pixel Fold... The aspect ratio and the fact that it opens to landscape draws me back to Pixel Fold although weight, more aesthetic bezels, S Pen and OneUI make me trying from time to time getting back to Samsung... Now on Pixel Fold again 😊

Samsung in A14 changed the logic of the back gesture in side-by-side app screen, it reacts the same as Pixel Fold, you go back in the app on the corresponding side, not the last used as it used to be!
I'm daily driving the open. I love the pixel fold and z fold 5 but one plus did something special. I'll probably go back to the others at some point for a day or two but I just can't see myself full time leaving the open.

I had a Pixel 6 which was abysmal when it came to holding a phone signal
Like the form factor of the Fold but would be problematical if I can’t get a decent signal

I can't say that I've had any issues, but I take extremely few phone calls. I might make four or five phone calls per month at the absolute most. In terms of data speed, I've not really seen any issues there either. Obviously, sample size is a lot bigger on that one. Of course your carrier is going to make a big difference there, I am using mint mobile for context.
Not sure if it is mentioned in the video as I haven't finished watching it , but multiple people are posting online pics of their OnePlus open screen damaged . Not even a month in of having it . Crazy stuff if you spend all that money for it to break

Can you tell me which one handles the Wyze cameras better, the text notifcations and how about a phone call , that would be sweet. I just watched 8 reviews an not one mentions text, phone , wyze, peleton or even newton Mail come on people , speak to us power users.

Texts are the same on both, I make very few calls, but have had no complaints with either.

It sounds like you want to like the Pixel more, but the OnePlus has just enough differences to make it just as compelling. I was in s similar boat deciding on the OnePlus or Fold 5.. My Fold 4 started giving me some issues that unfortunately are forcing me to upgrade. While I would have loved to try the OnePlus, Samsung's deals are too good to pass up. I need consistency too and while I don't think I would not like the OnePlus (the camera bump and no native stylus are my 2 biggest objections), I know the Fold 5 will do everything I need it to do and then some over my Fold 4. I got the Fold 5, Buds 2 pro, monthly protection, and the case with the slimmer S-pen still cheaper than the OnePlus by about $50-$100.
This is the very reason i didn't buy the one plus open because i knew i would miss my pixel fold. Wo i got the honor v purse because i wanted another from factor. The pixel fold got me covered with book style from factor
Thanks for sharing this. All the reasons you gave in the OnePlus advantage list are probably more important for me than the Pixel advantages. My only concern with OnePlus is the support should something go wrong. I can't imagine getting it replaced or repaired from China is an easy/fast process.
Got pixel fold and can't complain. Battery is excellent as a heavy user. Only thing I don't like is I can't use 5g on battery saver so I have to toggle when I need speed. I love the cover screen too ulike the garbage on Samsung folds.
I'm having the same problem. I had the fold 5 put it against the OP Open and for me the OP Open is the winner. Then I just ordered a Pixel Fold for Black Friday. God help me. 😅

Hi Shane, is Android auto working on your OnePlus Open? I received my Open but Android auto isn't working. Looking into the issue it seems to be a widespread issue on forums but not reported by reviews on youtube.

TBH, I haven’t turned my pixel fold on in months! Once I got the Z Fold5, its just such a better foldable! THEN I got the OnePlus Open and now I’m not using my Z Fold5 as much! It’s a vicious cycle lol
I would take the Pixel Fold over the Z Fold pretty much any day of the week lol. I'll never go back to that skinny cover display.
I love my Pixel Fold can't use my Z Fold 3 on the shelf now after 2 years old. Love the Pixel software. The Pixel feels the best built very solid phone.

Ugh....still going through the same thing with the same devices.....i think that I've decided to sell the OPO though....or 🤦♂️🤷♂️.....if the screen of the PFold was less reflective, like the OPO, it would be much easier to decide.
Decided.... sticking with the PFold....In the end they were pretty equal overall but the PFold software support and selfie camera shutter speed, couldn't find the action mode for the selfie cam, nudged me to the PFold.... hopefully the PFold 2 weighs a bit less....good luck choosing!
I'm loving my OnePlus Open. I almost got a pixel fold but decided to wait to see what the OnePlus phone was going to be like. I am not disappointed. I absolutely love open canvas. It fits my needs perfectly. Also the speakers sound awesome and the photos are amazing so far. As far as the size to me, it is the perfect Goldilocks compromise.
Hey, after using my OnePlus for about a month, I've noticed that the crease is a bit more visible than when I first got it. Is this normal?
This is going to happen with any foldable phone, the good news is Even as it gets more visible it's going to remain the least visible of any option we have in North America.
Ive never owned a pixel phone and just purchased my very first oneplus in the open and i can definitely say i have been amazed from the first min i turned this little beauty on 😍 its a fantastic device in all senses of the meaning. Charging is great. Screens are amazing. Multitasking simply unbelievable. cameras are unreal. Software is very good but can be improved with updates. Build quality is beautiful. Battery life is incredible. No complaints at all👍

Love the videos but I do want to advise that you seem to have a slight delay between the audio and the video. You can tell mainly on the shots where you are on camera speaking. Words spoken do not match up with your lip movements.
Thanks, although I'm not seeing it. My setup has been the same for the last like thousand videos, so if there's a delay it's been happening for a lot of videos lol.

The ai proofreader is something they're just rolling out currently. I think it's only on pixel devices at the moment though.

I prefer the front screen (size) of the Oneplus Open. The Pixel Fold is too short for mee.
Traded my Fold for the Open. I just did not care for the weight. Loved the form factor of Fold, but the weight was just too much. It wears on you after a while. Plus, the Open is just better in almost every other way. I do miss wireless charging, though!!
How's the camera of Oneplus Open compared to Pixel Fold? Can you tell any particular camera aspect where it does better than the Pixel fold?
@@faisalratul8778 I find the Fold to be a better, out of the box, camera. This is mainly due to Google's software, though. Both take great photos and if taken by themselves and not compared side by side, you wouldn't tell the difference. So, for 95% of the population, it will be a great camera. Using the standard mode on the Open is not quite as good as using the Pro mode, IMO. Not a ton of difference, but enough that I prefer the Pro's a bit more. Again, if not compared side by side, most wouldn't ever notice.
Waiting for my open to arrive early December, then I'll be having the same debate with myself.
Daily driving which $1400-$1700 phone? Seems like only certain people experience this problem and unfortunately not a normal user issue!! It would be great to have this issue though!! I appreciate the breakdown!!
The fact that people say a phone has the weight of a brick 😂, maybe because i have done construction work all my life, the pixel fold does not feel heavy at all, i even put a bulkier metal case on mind which i love.
I have certainly said that the pixel fold "is a brick," but I'm not meaning that it literally weighs the same as an actual brick.
I'm that way about the Fold and the Pixel 8 Pro.
I’m a tech geek 😂 so I actually own all 3 and if you count Microsoft then all 4. I actually carry both phones for separate things like one for family and one for friends. They all bring elements that I like and I need in my busy life right now. Making decisions between these phones is very hard and I’ve been known to swap out phones almost weekly. I’ve finally slowed down on that and for the most part settled into the phones I want to use but every now and then I might switch out my sim. I guess I like these phones a bit much 😂😂.
I'm laughing here Shane. I go thru this type of thing for years. I finally gave up and chose the iPhone 15 pro Max. I did my SD2. I tried to sell my PF. I just couldn't give it up. With the iPhone currently esim only, going back and forth with phones is a major shit storm. But I turn the pf on several times a week, take it with me on my daily walks.
I'm not bothered by weight or bezels. After the duo, my lines in the sand have been.. Issue device when closed, camera, communication with my loved ones. I love Apple play, FaceTime and Apple watch. Pixel watch is acceptable Google meet is ok. Never got into Google pay. So I'm struggling here. 🤷
And you don't have that big annoying hole in the screen that the iphone has

I traded my pixel fold for the OnePlus open. I am a huge pixel fan but honestly the OnePlus open makes the pixel fold feel like a beta product to me.
I don't have this "problem" , so I suppose I should be happy that the Pixel Fold isn't available in my country... I got the OnePlus Open on black friday, should arrive in a few days.
Honestly the fact you can't have 5 apps across on the OP Open app grid is what's holding me back.
Maybe you can talk to the CEO of Oneplus and ask if they can make a Oneplus open with the screenratio of the Pixel fold? Maybe you can back that up with a twitter poll about the preferred screen ratio between the Oneplus Open and the Pixel fold. My vote would be the screen ratio of the Pixel fold. To me the screen ratio of the Pixel fold looks perfect.
I own both and like you I am struggling to pick one over the other. I prefer the typing experience on the OnePlus but I just feel that Pixel is a better built phone from a hardware point of view. I need to decide as I will have to sell one of them at some point. 😂

I have not seen a massive difference. I like the simplicity of the camera UI on the Pixel Fold more than the Open. I also prefer the UI size on the Pixel Fold more. However the screen on the Open cannot be ignored that lack of the crease makes a big difference.
I'm sticking with the fold google features and eco system just better

Open's got stylus compatibility which; for me, makes that an automatic winner over any foldable that lacks a stylus...
...but outside of that, the SD8G2 is not only way more capable in high end games, but opens the possibility up to run hundreds of thousands of 32bit apps/games that Tensor G2 natively can't touch at all... and I know we'll forever disagree on this, but opening into portrait is simply supported by more. Also means that when i am landscape gaming with a snap-on controller, I'm doing so without obscuring the volume rocker or anything.
I have my own beefs with the Open's canvas, but I definitely prefer it over Pixel Fold's multitasking.
I do anticipate that the hole punch would annoy me though. I'd have to have a 100% guarantee that I can force every app/game to wrap around the punch hole to daily drive OnePlus Open.
As a fan of Windows Duo 1st generation, I feel pixel fold is more closer to duo…
But I see pixel fold is expensive and again I might buy it not for being 80% well convinced, but because Windows surface duo is 1st generation and becomes outdated
