Can they do something about this prolonged grunting even after the ball reaches the opponent? Can’t even watch the match highlights without muting? I am sure martic became deaf for a day.
If they are so accomplished athletes, why can’t they learn to play without grunting? Halep and sabalenka are the worst. Nadal, rublev on men’s side. I will never watch their match live.

I knew that Halep will win this match, but I didn't expect that she would win a match like that. What an easy win for Simona Halep. She straight up murdered Martic in straight sets. In this match Simona Halep showed why she is former world #1 in women's singles and former champion of this tournament. Halep completely dominated in this match. She played like world's true #1 should. Amazing performance by former French Open and Wimbledon champion. Congratulations Simona Halep. First of all , much respect from me a very humble tennis fan to Ms Martic , she truly is a very solid and respectable player , yes , she couldn't resist much against the incredible Halep , but you have to accept that this young lady (31? She looks way younger and plays way younger) is truly a fierce opponent versus which you can't walk easily in the park , you can't expect a 100% win against in any match . Ms Halep has always been and is my number one favorite , she is a true goddess of tennis , majestic charisma , a true lioness , you name it . She can teach tennis in Harvard or Oxford as a well-established professor , she is blessed with higher class academical technique , great mentality , and a super strategist second to none . I only wish her serves were more solid . She belongs to such a super class where you can also find Justin Henin and Martina Hingis from the previous generation .
Agreed Martic played well in this tournament and should be proud that she reached the quarter finals.
Also the final handshake between them very warm, as opposed to the one Cirstea gave Halep the other day and they are compatriots.
Matic always the lady she is, glad she had a good run this year in IW, and wish her all the best for the rest of the season.

It was a great match by Simona. She has shown impeccable technical skills. It will be a real treat to see her playing against Świątek. They played already twice against each other, in Roland Garros 2020 and in Australian Open 2021. In the first tournament Simona hasn’t played at the top of her skills, in the second it was a poor performance by Iga. Now they both play admirably, let’s see who will win.

Halep didn't have to do anything. Petra played one of the worst WTA match I have seen this year. She literally made unforced mistakes in every shot she made...it looked really ridiculous. It looked like she either didn't feel fit for that match or she was kind of injured.

Simona, Ashleigh Barty are the only consistent top players over the past few years. Kerber, Muguruza, etc. have a couple of stretches of high level play now and then, but not like Barty/Halep. Honestly, why else would Raducanu win a grand slam lol? And not having to face a single former grand slam champ or former #1 on her way to victory.
Raducanu lucked out or the fame got to her head because she has been nowhere near the same level when she won, all the random "excuses" she has when she loses yet she was able to go from qualifyers to finals at the US open without issue.

The reason why Emma Raducanu did not face any of the top seeded players is that the top seeded players were not good enough at the US Open. Emma Raducanu was due to meet the top seed Ashleigh Barty in the round of 16 but Ashleigh Barty lost to Shelby Rogers seeded 43 in the round of 32. Emma Raducanu played Shelby Rogers instead winning comfortably 6-2 6-1.
Next Emma Raducanu was due to meet No4 seed Karolina Piskova in the semi final but Karolina Piskova lost to Maria Sakkari seeded 18 in the quarter final, Emma Raducanu played Maria Sakkari instead winning in straight sets 6-1 6-4,
Next Emma Raducanu was due to meet Aryna Sabalenka seeded no2 in the Final but Aryna Sabalenka lost to Laylah Fernandez seeded 73 in the semifinal. In the final Emma Raducanu played Laylah Fernandez instead, winning in straight sets 6-4 6-3.
The other top seeds were not good enough to get past Laylah Fernandez; the only player who could beat Laylah Fernandez was Emma Raducanu.
Emma Raducanu won the US Open because she played the best tennis. She won all ten of her matches in straight sets, no one in the main draw could get close to taking a set off her.

Talk about consistency. Halep has made more WTA1000 semi's than any other player since 2013 (37). It's not even close either. The 2nd best is Kvitova on 25.

I always love seeing Simona playing better. What can I say, she's sexy. If only she could gain a little more upper body strength, because power is a major factor these days. I also miss old fashioned serve and volley to shorten points. I'd like to see her hitting more aces too.

Today there was no competition Swiatek just bagelled Keys in less than an hour as well, Martić I understand she is not an youngster and she played several hours this tour was clearly tired, Keys just being Keys, an erratic player.
