Man I think people will now appreciate how difficult table tennis really is. The variety in those chops was crazy. It really does take alot to be a pro player
table tennis has to be one of the most difficult of all sports. to get from beginner to intermediate to advance to low pro, mid pro high pro is HUGE difference and time/training commitments.
Chopper Master Joo is the coolest player - I've never seen him tossing a paddle, throwing a temper, arguing a point, making a noise or doing excessive celebration. By the way, I would love to see Master Joo uses his backhand to attack a few points in your next video. Those chop-chop-bam points are just gorgeous!
Yeah, Looks like his playing style of absorbing attacks made him so cool or he was already cool enough to play in this style... Or may be both aspects came together to him. Great player anyway, always annoying to the opponent but 🙌😂
I'm a Korean subscriber. I'm so glad to hear that you came to Korea. I'd appreciate it if you could come to Korea often and provide more fun for table tennis.
Winning one single point gets so hard, Joo is unbelievably good! Great educational content explaining what makes his returns more spiny and what his rubber vs pimple sides makes a difference! Lessons learned!
That match was sick, you could literally see Ma Longs whole arm swelling up due to the ammount of energy he was using to spin the ball and in all honesty Joo Se Hyeuk should have won it. . .
That's super-human Korean for you. Super-Human Power, but super down-to-earth with so much humility. Thanks for having Master Joo in this episode. Oh man, Adam, I love your works! Keep on-ponging! #koreanchopper
Joo Se Hyuk vs Timo Boll in the 2011 World Cup is one the best matches I have ever seen. I actually used that exact match, just yesterday as learning material for one of my students. If you haven’t seen it, you should really check it out. Fantastic sportsman, and always a blast to watch.
If you need a video on how to play against defense, check out the match between Primorac and Shiono. A lot of long rallies, but it's really a good example of how to vary the spin to force the other one to make mistakes. And since Primorac didn't have enough power and Shiono is not that good at attacking, it's quite a long match.
I enjoyed the extra commentary on what was happening with spin, ball placement, body positioning...all that stuff. I'm not saying that should be in *every* video, but it certainly enhanced this one.
I waited so much JSH to appear here, my favorite player ever. His defensive intelligence and sophistication during the games is something I've never seen before. And coupled with his stamina, great forehand and tricky backhand shows why he's the defensive GOAT.
Joo Saehyuk is the reason why I started playing defense after 6 years of playing as attacker. I have the blade named after him (Butterfly Joo Saehyuk ST) Well, thank you for this video, I managed to watch it slowly to understand how to chop properly especially forehand chop cuz this element needs to be improved. waiting for the next video
Joi Sae Hyuk current equipment: • NEXY Joo Sar Hyuk • Hurricane 3 Blue Sponge • Curl P1V (1.7) Interestingly, choppers in Japan use National H3 Blue sponge on FH. Sato and Hashimoto from Nippon Paint Mallets both use it and twiddle to punch with it
- Joo uses long pips on the bh and sticky chinese rubber on fh. maximum sponge thickness allows for more spin according to Joo. - Joo can vary the amount of spin in his chops: sometimes it's heavy backspin, sometimes it's less (apparently on both fh and bh). you can supposedly adapt to this by paying attention to his movement. - Joo said modern defenders should use 2 normal rubbers (no long pips) and attack more often.
just to put things back in the reality, Joo always used T64 prior to H3. and before the speed glue ban he was using speed glued Bryce. so saying this like Joo always usedd H3 is quite a jump.
I loved this video! Great analysis of each point shedding light on minuscule differences with the ball and your technique. Also love the Ferris Bueller reference!! More like this please!!
I have been trying out chopping for a bit, and the playstyle really goes incredibly deep. It's super neat to see the legend himself show off the knowledge.
What a wonderful instructional video that helps us understand the set up, pips and defensive style of the world best! Super fun and fascinating to watch!! Thank you!! Hm in future would love a break down on others' rackets and why they have that particular set up
having only ever watched TT on youtube and never played, i always thought chopping was defensive mainly to slow down a fast rally or something, so seeing how much effort it takes to return a chopped ball was kind of mind blowing, i never understood the effect the spin has!
Joo Sae-hyuk is a brilliant defender! Thank you very much, Adam! A request to you - please write the current blade and rubbers that you and your opponents use. This will be interesting to all subscribers and tennis fans!
I am a field sport person ( soccer, flag footbal ,ultimate ice hockey - not technically field but) and I generally find those actually boring to watch unless its an international competition and my country is in the finals (Canada). Racquet sports have always been impossible for me since my hand eye coordination just does not work that way but you have made table tennis so entertaining i find myself tuning in to the Olympic matches this year. And i never did that before. so thank you Adam, i found something new to watch during the Olympics other than the sprints
WTTC 2003 Highlights: Werner Schlager vs Joo Se Hyuk is one of the biggest match I have seen. Love Ur vidéo , Ty Adam Hope u are a the Olympic games for more fun' video 😊
choppers (Kim Kyung Ah, Joo Sae Hyuk) are the reason why I started playing table tennis. we need another another chopper in the top 10 but noone comes close to how they played in their prime :(((
Hello Adam I have a suggestion, can you challenge the Brazilian Hugo Calderano? He is now going to compete for the bronze medal for Brazil, I think this challenge would be cool. ( I am Brazilian)
Table tennis is insanely intricate. My good friend was a national level player for the country (New Zealand) in high school. I couldn't return a single serve! We sparred a bunch during the days, and he always handicapped me 9-0 and I had to rely on net/edge luck or he got bored and messed up his shots lol
Hey Adam! I'm so happy to see Joo SaeHyuk from your channel. He is the one who turned me into play as a defender! And if I am not mistaken, it's the first time he reveals his rubbers on TH-cam.
Always nice to see you TH-cam. Will it be possible get some information about training and exercises the pro players use. Chen meng is very impressive in her speed and knowledge of the game.
I'm wondering how easy or hard it is for JSY to coach the whole team of Korea when all his players are playing the offensive style while his style is defensive. It was quite amazing when team China played against team Korea and it was quite tight. It was quite entertaining and exciting to watch.
Excellent interview questions for the opinion and perspective of the Number 1 defender! Really good info, stuff I've wanted to ask him myself. also, I was bummed we didn't get the 7-0 game but I guess we'll see it soon!
who’s sss’scribed 🐍 and ready for the FULL MATCH? 😃
finally you came to korea
welcome adam!

@@josepinchero I think this is true for all sports, no?
so much effort for little money. Is better to be a tennis player.

@@krusty7982 okay…
He still got it after all these years and Joo Se Hyuk is good too.
Great content as always!
Danke!
I love the educational twist that you added to the beginning of the video. Keep it up!
It's great to have included info about the racket, warm-up, spin, use of legs, etc. while keeping the fun content as present as usual, great job!!!

tylkko gra kombinowana , nie mozna cały czas atak , bo masz małe szanse
Love Joo se Hyuk, he looks like a really cool and chill guy. Glad to see the legendary chopper is doing good!
This is by far the best Joo Sae-hyuk appreciation video that I have seen, great sports man.
One of the best matches I've seen is between Joo Sae-Hyuk and Ma Long at the 2012 Hungarian Open, that match is underrated.
That match was sick, you could literally see Ma Longs whole arm swelling up due to the ammount of energy he was using to spin the ball and in all honesty Joo Se Hyeuk should have won it. . .
Yes sick because joo lost from 10-6 up in decider, can't believe.
@nakox25 also 7 sets triller with Timo Boll in final in Budapest
There was a tight game in 2014 between them, it's one of the closest matches I've ever seen in TT.
I think it's Hungary open 2014 when he change his setup Forehand rubber into Tenergy 64 and Backhand Tsp p1 curl.Zhangjike that time lose 4-0.
아담 채널에 드디어 한국선수와의 챌린지! 거기다 주세혁 선수라니!!! 너무 기뻐요!!!!!❤❤❤

For someone who is learning to play TT, I like the explainer parts of the video a lot.
the true goat, JSH took this defensive style and made it his own. i highly doubt we will ever see another defensive player like him in the future.
Hit Like if you want to see Jan Ove Waldner play with Adam
Sure I wish to see Waldner vs Adam
Said the same also as a comment in his previous videos without a comment back. Hopefully he’s aware 👍

I love these kinda videos with educational content on TT. Keep em coming Adam
finally great to hear Adam as commentary on the Olympic!!!
Loved the shout out to a warmup, so important
Seeing a lot more choppers using short pips now

4:28 you are hitting the ball too much and rubbing it too little. The sound doesn’t feel like it’s sufficient to lift a strong back spin

I'm always favoring the attacker but I'm grateful for Joo to make international table tennis so interesting because of his defensive style.
Thanks for not only interesting performance, but also for useful explanations during the game.

What is the name from the Forehandrubber from joo se hyuk?
I love the answer from a Korean Master:
"Ok"!!
It fits all the questions from Adam)
Creo que debe ser el video que más esperé! Sos un genio Adam!
Sae-Hyuk is a LEGEND!
Joo Se Hyuk is Paolo Maldini in table tennis.. and Adam Bobrow is also Peter Drury in The Voice of Table Tennis, They are so elegant...
He is a great defender but he was helped by the format a bit, in a normal match situation you wouldn't force the attack so much against long pips
Excellent interview questions for the opinion and perspective of the Number 1 defender! Really good info, stuff I've wanted to ask him myself. also, I was bummed we didn't get the 7-0 game but I guess we'll see it soon!
Thank you for breaking down the points, many actions are hard to notice in full speed!
GG ADAM BOBROW ❤❤❤❤❤
Great Video and crazy Chops from him
Legend game : Jo sye Hyuk vs ma long , defense machine vs attack machine
Facing a defender is a last man standing match.
재밌는 영상 잘보고 갑니다!
I realize now he has the fastest attacks with an absorbing rubber. Cool.
Another great video!! thx Adam!
The best modern a
Defender ever. His forehand loop was amazing too considering the slow racket he had.
My favorite player. Watched all his vdeos so far ❤
좋은 영상 잘 보고 갑니다~
My hero! Love this video. Thanks for showing his setup too!
Nice job analyzing the shots and the reasons for a won or lost point.
