Agreed. Natural surfaces help Halep with her underwhelming second service; on hardcourts she always struggles more. It's quite remarkable how successful she has been on hardcourts despite this.
Swiatek has really turned into a fabulous player. Halep hung in there and major props to her. But Iga is just too good right now. And Halep’s 2nd serve is target practice for her.
What is the most impressive about Iga is how clutch she gets at most important points of the match. Whole 1st set was close and I'd say Halep was even a little bit better, but Iga played the most important points better and she ended up winning that set.

She was playing not aggressive enough like she would not want to hurt her opponent or hurt herself. Now she is aggressive and she fights harder. Hope she keeps developing and confirms all the talent she showed.

Feel bad for my girl Halep but have to give it to Swiatek she was definitely rocking it out on the court.....Coming back from that first set tie break was the turning point and Halep's second serve stopped all her momentum so many times.

In many sports they say it's about the will to win. You can definitely see, that Swiatek wanted it more. She is not only a great player. She is also mentally very very good. I think she is only one or two steps away from dominating the WTA.

After Barty’s retirement the competition was more open in the race in dominating the world number one rankings. Perhaps the advantage is now more towards Swiatek’s ribs.
Halep had been playing very well in this tournament, so I figured this would be very close. I was wondering if Iga would have the discipline to fight through a tough challenge, and she certainly did. These are the kind of hard-fought matches champions win. That first set tiebreaker comeback (from 3 - 5 and 4 - 6!) was pretty amazing. Great confidence boost for Iga!
I really hoped Halep would win, she has lovely game ,one minute she looks like she's struggling to retun the ball,next she now in offensive mode. Nonetheless Iga has just been on fire 🔥. Great match

Very happy to see the progress Swiatek has made with her game in the last year. Young age, but some of the best footwork and smarts playing for position to set up the winning shot. Fine personality, humble, photogenic - another WTA sponsor's dream. I plan on watching more of her matches, same with Ash Barty. And Paula Badosa, Maria Sakkari and vet Halep also had a fine tournament.

Wich is impresive cuz Halep had a good game plan ...if she had been a little bit calmer in the tie break maybe we would have had a different match. ..Halep kept fighting well, but Iga kept her composure very well. I think the match would have gone the distance if Halep hadn't gotten injured. Swiatek played well on the most important points of the match, especially in the 1st set tiebreaker, but otherwise looked a bit flat, particularly on her serve.

It was an exciting match and a really good play by both. Iga Świątek played better in the key moments (vide tiebreak) and deservedly won. Her weak side was service: 58,1 % of “first serve in” is not a great result. She will face now M. Sakkari in the match for … the 2nd spot in the WTA ranking (just after A. Barty); whoever wins will take that place, the loser will be 3rd! In the previous tournament in the game against Maria (semis in Doha) Świątek served at 75,8 % rate and won. Iga is the second Polish No.1 reaching the final after the predecessor, Radwonska. Although getting a bit of struggles in this match, she still managed to win. I hope Iga will get all she has and prepare for her ultimate rival, Sakkari. Gods bless this young talented g teen to make her steps continuous.
I’m not sure if Simona is at her full level after being injured but she still looked pretty good. I can’t think of two many twenty year olds of recent years who have Iga’s abilities.
I just watched Leyla Fernandez highlights and she seems pretty good too. Obviously I hope the best for Iga but she will have a couple of youngsters breathing down her neck. The future of WTA looks pretty bright at the moment
It's sad to see Halep outside of the top 20, she's had a time tough with injuries but talent-wise she belongs in the top 5. Great to see Swiatek play so well though, she's so consistent for someone so young

I’m not sure if Simona is at her full level after being injured but she still looked pretty good. I can’t think of two many twenty year olds of recent years who have Iga’s abilities.
I just watched Leyla Fernandez highlights and she seems pretty good too. Obviously I hope the best for Iga but she will have a couple of youngsters breathing down her neck. The future of WTA looks pretty bright at the moment

It's sad to see Halep outside of the top 20, she's had a time tough with injuries but talent-wise she belongs in the top 5. Great to see Swiatek play so well though, she's so consistent for someone so young
She’s ranked 19th now. She will get back into the Top 10, no doubt. Top 5, that’s less sure.
