As an American....although I was rooting for Sloane, I am so happy for Simona....she was persistent and showed me a relentlessness, when she could've wilted after that first set....something she has done before! Dupa multi ani , uitandu-ma la toti obositii de sportivi romani...Si da imi permit sa spun obositi pentru ca , nici un sportiv roman nu a mai adus o cupa in Romania din anii de glorie ale Romaniei ( la categoria fotbal ) pana in momentul actual. P F not surprised, more worried that she would choke because she previously lost 3 GS finals. When she lost the first set and was down 0-2 in the second everyone thought it was another lost final but she showed a great mental and came back.

I have never been this happy after a WTA Grand Slam Final
I was there and was overwhelming, people from allover Europe was cheering Simona. I guess today the Romanian worrier Simona was representing Europe. Congrats to Sloan who I think was over confident and without turning this into a political thing it is very important to show the world that Europe is still strong and regardless who is trying to divide it they wont succeed. I have never seen so many people from all parts of Europe supporting Simona which today represented the resilience and strength of our great European continent. Even the stiff Brits struggled today to finally say something nice about Simona and Romania but anyway we all people of France always love or Latin Romanian brothers and sisters, greetings to all.

i hate it when a final match turns out to be lopsided; this certainly wasn't like that. down a set and trailing 0-2, i thought "oh no! not again!" but Halep found a way to stop the bleeding. a hard-fought 3 set victory and finally, finally Halep could be the one to raise the victor's trophy! Wahoooooo! And major props to Sloane who was gracious in defeat; a smile and a sincere congratulations vs a cold handshake. major respect for both of these women!
