      This is a pretty cool unit. It doesn’t have the power of the brute force but I am not sure that anyone would choose this for just making large quantities of cord wood. For bundle sized wood it is fantastic.

    I got to talk with the rep at the logging expo up here in Maine this spring an they sure are neat rigs . If they could speed it up an raise the table up about 4 in I would own one just because of being able to drive it to the log pile an backing it up as ya work ya way threw the pile . Every thing in one mobile unit sure makes it a nice rig to have .

    • @woodruffwoods
      @woodruffwoods  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At 5 foot 9 I don't find the table height terrible but I could see a taller person having to lean. This is a neat design for sure. Just to be clear, I was only running the conveyor at a slow speed and the throttle at about 3/4.

    • @whalerlife53
      @whalerlife53 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree, table is too low. I guess you could elevate the rear end by backing it up on a couple of round slabs or something similar. But that would be a pain. I think raising the table would make it safer to operate because your hands would naturally fall further down the round of wood away from the wedge and top of piece being split.

    Practice good safety techniques, avoid getting those pinkies anywhere near the top of the round as the wedge comes down. I am enjoying seeing so many couples out now working together. I suppose Rachel and Heath #hardworkingman have set the bar high. Firewood is hard honest work.

    Great video you two. I’d love to see a side by side comparison with an axis and that machine. It looks like it’s not as comfortable to reach the pedal on this machine vs an axis. But that’s what I see and not from how it actually feels to run it. I like the adjustable return stop for the wedge on the axis. But the feature of how you feather the pedal to how fast the wedge moves is nice on this machine. They both seem well built and each have their own pluses and minuses. Thanks again for the review. Happy Forth of July Lisa and Darrin!

    • @woodruffwoods
      @woodruffwoods  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Happy Independence Day. I would like to see the comparison with the axis as well. As someone pointed out, that pedal is adjustable but since it is just a loaner, i did not mess with it. The overall weight is just under a ton and you are right about it being a heavy duty build. Very cool machine even if it isn’t for everyaone

  • @OpenAirAdventure
    @OpenAirAdventure ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Darrin and Lisa. I like it too. I like the vertical splitters more every day, especially with the conveyer. The foot pedal seems awkward, and the table seems a few inches low. But other than that, it has power and decent speed. I'm not sure about the (ROI) it would have to be 5%.

      We are doing upwards of 500 bundles in a month so I can justify this or the brute force but not both. I think each person has to consider how they plan to use the machine and pick the one that fits. The conveyor is a huge plus for sure. Btw I got the sticker yesterday!

    • @OpenAirAdventure
      @OpenAirAdventure ปีที่แล้ว

      @woodruffwoods The bundle and 1/3 sales seem to be a hit for novelty wood sales. But definitely, a conveyer for your brute force would make things easier on you. Now hold that sticker close to your heart, haha. Thanks Darrin.
