My China Doll is about 35 years old and it is over 9 feet tall. I get a ladder and clip the top then replant it and more grows.
I would love to see a photo of this tree? If its indoors I’d be amazed!! Not impossible, but I’d love to know your secrets.
@@lindseymayo2822 I am not sure how to post a picture on TH-cam. I don't see where I can do that in the comments section. I would be happy to if I knew how.
@@lindseymayo2822 i.postimg.cc/GpfGyWV3/China-Doll.jpg Seeing if this works

@@deeryno8553 Hi! You can’t post photos on TH-cam, BUT, you can upload the photo to platforms like Imgur and then reply with a link to the photo.
Alternatively, you could film your tree and upload it to your TH-cam channel and then link it here, too.
I bought my first China Doll a few months ago. It was only a couple of inches tall. I had never seen one before so I spent some time Googling to find out what plant I'd bought as there was no tag on it. Five months later, it's 18" tall and very thick and lush. I give it lots of light as it sits on a western facing window sill. I keep it moist, not wet, and prune it fairly often as it has a tendency to take off in many directions. I love this plant!! So beautiful. If you treat it right, it will reward you with a nice feast for the eyes. :)
Call it BOWIE! Get it? David bowie, China doll and the BOW!😍😝
Thanks so much for the info! I just picked up my China doll plant over the weekend and I am so in love with her dainty look! Keep the series going!
Beautiful little plant.... mine is actually a 6 foot tree now. Love to see updates on yours!😄🌿🌱🌳
How often do you water your china doll? Mine is not doing so well, the tips of the leaves are turning brown :( I'm not sure if I may be overwatering.
Mine too! She is 20 years old and over 6 ft! But she looks like a palm tree lol
Hi how is your China doll plant doing now? I need some tips for mine. It’s only 7 months old and not doing well at all!!
Mine was in a huge pot inside the house then she got so big I planted her outside in the garden and she’s doing really well. She grew another foot in a year. just crop the top off if you want your plant to be bushier
Usually wait until the first 2 inches of the soil is dry then completely water till the water comes out of the bottom of the pot and repeat
I got this plant in an arrangement and I’ll be honest, I totally forgot that the arrangement existed, and when I finally remembered it, it was one of the only things still alive and very green. It had barely wilted tbh. I guess mine is very resilient lol
got a little one on clearance, so far so good. I actually have it in a pot without drainage holes. it is very compacted with soil and it seems fine.
I have a China Doll in my backyard that I planted over 20 years ago. It’s well over 30 feet tall and requires no maintenance at all.
Yes yes I would love to see more video's like this, and today I bought this same plant too, so I am very happy with this info. And you got a new subscriber :)
Great info. So glad I found your channel!! Wonderful at describing plant care . 🤩

Very helpful !!
Holy Smokes! Those eyes are wonderful.
Good job
I saw one in Tesco earlier today and it made me think of this video (and the subsequent lockdown haircut). Wouldn't you know, when I looked up China Doll Plant on TH-cam, your two videos came top of the list! Seriously considering going back to pick one up...
Bought one as a sort of bonsai.
Hi Jenny! I’ve just picked up this plant randomly from Tesco’s while doing my shopping! I was drawn by it’s pretty foliage. Like you, I haven’t heard of it before, so proceeded to google it on my way home. And it brought me to your video! Awesome, I hope my Radermachera will thrive like yours! Cute video! I haven’t named it yet, but yours looks like a Lucy!
I just found this video today after discovering one of these in Tesco too lol. I hope your plant is thriving! x
WHOA the bow on your head tripped me out. Like was it there the whole time? No it wasn’t. Shit I missed the whole thing and have to start over
It looks like a Frances!! I just got my second one and named it George. My first (Phillip) didn't survive because I had no idea what I was doing so this time i will be seeking advice from such plant pros as yourself to help this one survive 🤞
Leaf drop aka plant temper tantrum
When you said RRRADERMACHHHERA, you were actually very close.

You deserve *waaay mooore* views.
Named China Doll because it's fragile? Oof...first of all, they're strong, hardy plants which grow incredibly fast. Took one, trunk-chopped it, removed 80%of its roots and 100% of the foliage. Put it in a Bonsai trainingpot and it's now growing very strongly again, with new foliage emerging everywhere. Second: the name comes from it's shiny leaves, which are reminiscent of China Dolls, who's faces are always shiny, being made of porcelain.
You know, I think I'm with you on that. Lots of what I'd read told me that they're so fragile and must be handled delicately, but this gal is a tough one!
She's awfully leggy at the moment, but that's my fault, and despite being near a window that gets the cold winter air, she's had virtually no leaf-drop, and is nearly three feet tall!
I reckon we underestimate plants more often than not. I'm so glad to read of your success!! 🌿
I certainly hope it strong and hardy. ..I just got mine yesterday and my cat knocked it off the shelf, soil everywhere, but it looks okay...I hope.
Ive brought a China doll plant and wanted to grow with it since I brought it to celebrate new home. I have had it for a week and it looks like it has given up. I put it in the living room with light but not direct light but now im putting it by kitchen window and seeing if i can revive it. Help😢
Any update on this one? 😊
I just got a pretty big China Doll plant and it’s so beautiful!! I hope to be able to provide a happy environment for this gem. Thanks for your tips!
Can we get an update :)
Hi, I'm a China Doll newbie. Just purchased one that is approximately 6" tall. I would like to keep it on the small size. Is it possible keep it pruned so that it doesn't get any taller than a couple of feet tall? Thanks
What does this plant look like today? (Assuming it made it)
I just got one cuz it's cat safe and pretty. Get it home and all the descriptions basically say if you look at it wrong it will drop leaves. Great.

How do I propagate a China Doll plant??
By the way... i think seeing many your videos, made me think about your avatar plant. and I think about an idea about your avatar. ^_^ silly me, please forgive my stupid idea for thinking your avatar plant in my mind. it came spontanious. and yes, dont know why, maybe because I am quite attracted by your videos. ^_^ I am not a strange person, please don't blame me. ^^ But let me humbly tell you that you are so beautiful as a plant Portulacaria Afra. ^_^ You are so honest, kind, talk in beautiful words and gestures. So lovely. ^_^v peace
Thankyou so much for your kind words! It really means a lot to me to know my little videos are making people smile.
I had to Google the portulacaria afra, and as it turns out, I have a mystery succulent on my windowsill which is THAT PLANT! You solved the mystery! It's a really sweet and interesting plant, so I'm happy to call it my avatar plant. :)

Name it pheupheu 🥰
Cecilia! (Her name)
Wawa is my suggested name for your plant Jenny. It is Chinese for doll. The "a"s are pronounced as "are". I'm a professional gardener and am nursing a "sick" Radermachera back to good health in my living room. Thanks and please keep posting more... informative, personal, entertaining, helpful...
I think that might be a winner, Tim! Wawa, it is! Thankyou for your message and I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. I've had to take a little break, but there will be more soon - promise! :)
Name it Bruce Lee. Please. No one would ever call Bruce Lee foofoo.
