  • What does living in a $700/month apartment look like in downtown Pittsburgh?
    Having just moved in August, I decided it was a good time to show off what $700 gets you in terms of real estate in Pittsburgh. Considered an affordable city, Pittsburgh offers some pretty good living options. Whether you are just starting out, or have lived here your whole life, you can do a lot with your money.
    Check out this video to see what it looks like in person!

    Watched video, think it's a bit misleading if he's splitting costs. That makes that apartment $1400/month which is pretty high for the area. I moved to Pittsburgh 4 years ago. I rent a 2 story house with full basement and double lot yard for $700/month. Plus utilities of course. If you look on the outskirts of the actual city you can find whole houses for rent for around that range. And I'm a 15 minute WALK to the city. Bus transit all around. Pricing is higher to be IN the city itself. But if you're ok with being a little outside the rents about half that. Areas like West End, Elliott, Mt. Washington, crafton heights, or even crafton/Ingram areas. All 5 min bus to town. js

      Where’d you find that? Moving there in a few months.

    • @pamlamixter5960

      @@jessev4303 there's many areas to look within. It's actually quite surprising how many little "neighborhoods" are all within the city of Pittsburgh! I never even realized! I found this one by driving around the side streets and just saw a sign posted on the front door by the owner. But I was in a previous duplex beforehand and found that one online. Look through local papers for rent. And online through all the agencies. Also you can call any real estate office and tell them what you're looking for and your price range. They'll help you find them. Also check little shoppers guide papers. The lower prices are usually ones being rented by private owners. You may have to do a bit of searching.😉 Price ranges vary drastically which is odd. I've seen rental prices from $650/month all the way up to over $1800/month. I'm in the Elliott community which is on the west side near the west end. Only areas I'd avoid would be the south side ( huge bar area, higher crime), Sheridan, Mt.oliver ( very high crime/drugs) those are just the ones I heard personally to avoid. Mt.washington is nice. Beautiful views. Same with Elliott.. both up in a cliff side. Any areas surrounding the outer edges of the city( across the river) are usually lower priced. But there's walkways and bike paths all going in and public transit pretty much all around so very easy commute in. Only downside is transit doesn't run 24/7. Most stop around midnight and don't start back up until around 5-6 am. And weekend routes run less often so there's that. I'm sure you'll love it here though! I fell in love myself. Always something to do and the people are very welcoming and friendly. Good luck!!!

    • @pamlamixter5960
      @pamlamixter5960 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I will give credit where credits due though. The area his apartment is located is an up and coming vital community. Walking distance to a major hospital, fast food choices and the river. Both stadiums as well. There's also a very beautiful park that I believe the city is in process of upgrading. The aviary is also close by and if I'm not mistaken It's also walking distance to "the Mexican war streets" where there's a nifty little private run artsy museum. So for being INSIDE that area pricing is reasonable.

    Why’d you do me dirty like that Kyle. If you’re splitting cost this is obviously more than your title.

      You're going to get more bang for your buck if you have roommates though. You can't expect to have a nice one bedroom apartment in downtown for $700 a month, unless you like killed the 80 year old woman who was living there.

      @@Brandon-wc9ql I mean, he's not wrong. This is what you can get for $700 a month. He never said $700 a month...living by yourself, lol.

    I'm disappointed in you Kyle. The video is misleading. Parsing words only makes me think you are untrustworthy.
