I went to Pittsburgh for the first time in my life this past summer I just love the city and I can’t wait to come back and bring home a couple cases of Iron City beer 🍻
It's WILD. I was looking up condos on Zillow downtown when you posted this. I will not be moving back until late next Fall, but I went to college there and CANNOT wait to get back. I miss PGH soooooo much, esp the people.
Downtown is a Ghost Town, nights and weekends. And lots of crime, random Shootings even in broad daylight during the week. I wouldn't live Downtown if I were given a luxury Condo as a gift. The Strip District is a Zoo, especially on weekends and on summer. The narrow old streets are so crowded, you can hardly walk. Parking is almost impossible in the Strip. Downtown does have the Heinz concert hall and Pittsburgh Playhouse, and there are sports venues nearby. But Downtown is still primarily the Business District - which it always was. You might be able to live Downtown without a Car, but to shop at WHOLE FOODS, or ALDI'S, you'll need a Car. TARGET is never primarily a Grocery store, so the new TARGET in the old Kaufmann's building won't supply serious cooking needs.
Thanks for that feedback. Could you then recommend some neighborhoods to consider? I’ll be moving to Pitt and while it’s good to know where NOT to go, I think it would be equally beneficial to know where to live.
@@marijoe19 Are you a student at Pitt? South Oakland is where many undergrads live, and you can find parties any day of the week. If trashy streets and sirens all night long aren't your thing, move to Squirrel Hill, Greenfield, or Shadyside.
looking to move there myself. never been to the city before. I'm not totally sold on condos in general but the area looks nice and I'm excited :) I know the interest rates are high so I'm looking at generally cheaper places than shown here but yeah. I'm giddy
While the weekends are usually quiet, you would never want to walk around Dawntahn at night, lest you get jumped. Also, trying to park there is ridiculous, and you will get multiple tickets. The weekdays are very busy, and you would never shop for food there, so you need a car to go to other (better looking and more fun and scenic) neighborhoods to get the goodies.
I grew up here and downtown used to be nice but those days are over .I was there 6/15/2023 and was assaulted by some crackhead on Smithfield st.and while walking past Mellon park the people laying on the street and the strong urine smell was sickening.I did not feel safe, check it out in person before you commit to anything.

Hello:) could you tell us the current average home sales price? And the property tax rate for Allegheny county. Thank you!
Better you than me.🤣
How about places to live next to Duquesne University? I'm looking to move there in the next 7/9 months

Rarely is so much said with so little useful information.
