    Definitely a logical decision. The hard part of course is how to be sure that a used GTR in that price range has not been abused. If I can find one from a reliable seller (ie an a friend) then GTR for me any day.

    Appreciated your honest thoughts on GR Corolla vs Type S.
    Drove a GR Corolla recently, it's great in a straightline but felt it was missing something on the turns. I'd be open to most hot hatch options but not over MRSP.

      Agreed! Great little car. But the Type S… that thing handles corners like no other. They really nailed the suspension in that car

      Renault, a French company, owns a controlling 43.4% of Nissan, and Nissan holds a 15% non-voting share in Renault2. Nissan is part of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, a partnership between Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors of Japan, with Renault of France4. They merged around the turn of the century and their quality has gone down since then. Acura will be much more reliable. That said 70 thousand is alot. If you can land yourself a Miata and maybe have another car for daily.......fun factor of a MX5 is huge, test drive one. Or if you could manage with such a small car as a only car......

    The explanation of why you’re going for a GTR made me real happy. Buying a car you wanted or had some type of connection as kid, I imagine is fulfilling. For me that car is a mustang especially the s197. One of the first cars I couldn’t stop staring at. Now I prefer smaller sporty cars, but maybe one day I’ll add a mustang to my stable.

    I'm on the waiting list for the Type S and out of the blue a Honda dealer in California called me and ask if I wanted a black CTR for $5k mark up. I went in today to take a look and for almost the same money $2k more for the Acura. I decided to wait for the Type S. More competetion is good for the buyers market.

  • @RobertoMezquiaJr
    @RobertoMezquiaJr 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I was kinda the same way. I had a brand new FK8 (2018) at the end of 2017 that I got for MSRP $34,900 with accessories +tax/fees. Loved the car and had it for about 2 years. It was a car that once I heard it was coming to the US a few years prior, I started rebuilding my credit and making sure I was going to be in a financial position to be able to buy once it was released. I prepared for it, I dreamed about it, and then I got it. Loved it as a daily driver. So then why did I sell/trade it after 2 short years (end of 2019)? Well, once I got into a financial position to be able to afford it, I realized it put me into position to be able to afford other cars. So I ended up getting rid of the Type R, sort of rashly, for a Tesla Model 3. It was the next logical step "up" for me with better straight line performance (I live in FL), and no need to spend money on gas or maintenance. I got it and thought it was going to make me happy, and it did for a long time. But in the back of my mind, I missed my FK8 and slowly that started eating at me. Still loved my Tesla but wanted to get another "Type R" but by this time, the market had gone into the ridiculousness we are still sort of in today. Used 2018 Type R's were selling for $45k and that immediately took me out of the market. Then the FL5 was announced and I decided to search for one of those. Besides the inflated MSRP of $44k vs what I paid a few years ago for my new FK8, I tried to digest even that, but then the dealers cemented my decision by making it impossible to buy at or close to MSRP. Then my interest was piqued again when the spy shots of the "Integra Type S" started popping up. I thought to myself, could it be? could this be the one I end up getting without ridiculous markup and better looks than the FL5? Well, I ended up buying the 2024 Integra Type S and it filled that need I missed from the FK8. By now I hope you read this entire story and realize that the FK8, to me, was the "one that got away". And of course depending on your own experience and feelings, the GT-R was probably that one for you. I've driven stock and modded GT-R's before and they're fun but lose their wow for me after a short period of time. But man, the Integra Type S is one special car and I am so glad I was able to get one. I'm never getting rid of this one. I've learned from my previous mistake for sure. I hope you enjoy your GT-R! Someone will buy that ITS, so don't worry about it.

      @JDM.Driven  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s awesome!!! I did read the whole thing haha I loved it. Yeah the GTR for me may have be that one that got away if I had let it. Happy with the decision. Hopefully it doesn’t lose it’s wow for me! Love the Type S still tho. Fantastic car!

    Its exactly this reason why its crazy to me when people pay the insane markup on the CTR. The CTR was supposed to be cheap, thats half of its appeal. There are way better options out there for the price they're listed at. I ended up buying a used M2 for way cheaper then the CTR I was in the market for earlier this year. It was just a much better deal. Sorry Honda fanboys (and I am one!)

    • @JDM.Driven
      @JDM.Driven  ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly!!! It’s a fantastic car. No one can deny it. But it stopped being affordable. Thankfully buying a used CTR is still a good option since you can get them for around $35k now. But buying new? No shot

    I have to ask, but what year and what's the mileage? I would be afraid of how hard the previous owner was on the drive train since you yourself mentioned the people that would own a GTR. Second, you have to ask yourself if you can pay for repairs on a car thats out of warranty...a warranty that would come with a new car. And third, the interest rates on a used car right now are TWICE that of a new car with the average for people with excellent credit being a little over 13%. My cousin owns his own mechanic shop and says not to buy Nissan simply because the cost of repairs. But hey...GTRs are beautiful and fast...just realize how much money it will cost in the long run.

    • @JDM.Driven
      @JDM.Driven  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Absolutely!! So, I found a 2015 with 80k miles. Engine is stock. I was worried about transmission issues from hard launching and stuff. However, Nissan seems to have solved most of the transmission issues with these cars post 2012+. Supposedly 2015+ are the best years for reliable transmission.
      And I totally agree! Thankfully the dealer i purchased from offered 30k mile extended warranty!! In my next video you’ll see just how handy that warranty became. My interest rate was high, 9%. You’re totally right, these kind of purchases draw a higher interest rate. But I plan to pay the car off by next year so I was okay with it

  • @arabbrian
    @arabbrian 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    9k in options!? I priced one out on acuras website cant even get close to that number. But i do agree with you, for 60k you can get a lot more bang for your buck on the used market. Insane to think that these are the numbers in todays crazy inflation economy for a 4banger sports hatch

    • @JDM.Driven
      @JDM.Driven  11 หลายเดือนก่อน
