- We review and test the new 2024 Acura Integra Type S. First, we show the differences between Civic Type R on the Dyno, drive on the street, and track. Then we discuss the story behind the creation of this American-made hot hatch. Finally, we street and track drive the car to see if the changes made this car better. Others to consider are FL5 Type R, GR Corolla, Golf R, and Elantra N.

You can really feel mark’s happiness and joy on the track. It’s very jarring, I need to see him back in a ford explorer.
Or a Mercedes EQ-something.
That was my favorite episode.

The relationships you guys are building with automakers are making your videos so much better, keep up the great work!!!
I really like that more and more manufacturers are willing to give these guys open access to the engineers/designers/development team for some mostly open dialogue.
lol… especially all of the marketing BS that they spew! 😂
I thought 40 minutes was ridiculous but it was not. Very thorough 👍🏼

To see him show love to the RS was an unexpected bonus. Seems like a good dude hope he’s able to implement more of his ideas in the future.
I swear the videos this channel produces are absolutely unmatched. No other channel gives you this much detail in all aspects when it comes to car reviews. Fantastic work guys!
A lot better than other channel specially the one with gay dude.
These guys put in A LOT of work into every single video. I’ve followed them for years and don’t understand why they’re not over the 1m subs yet. Notice how they they don’t put out tons of reviews but each review is a methodical masterpiece with focus on the technical stuff.

I like watching car reviews, but THIS is what I really want to see; the interviews with engineers and designers, the CAD drawings, the manufacturing footage, the nitty gritty technical details....I love that stuff, and this channel deliveries it in a way that few other channels even come close to. Thank you to all who contribute to these fantastic videos
This is the best video that you guys have done; I'm blown away by the production values, the integrity, the level of information and the genuine enthusiasm that flows throughout the whole 40 minutes. Thank you all and how the heck are you going to improve on this standard. 🥳
Agree. I think their breakthrough video is the one about the Z06. The level of cinematography mated to the value of the technical information is unparalleled.
haha integra-ty

Salute to Mark and Jack for the quality of the content, which is actually rare in this social space which is driven by views, we know its tough to put together and we appreciate what you guys are doing🫡
That tidbit about the Focus RS being an inspiration for the Type S's development is something I never saw anywhere else. Really valuable insight there that they were able to draw out of the Acura product planner.
You're firing on all cylinders, absolutely amazing storytelling, guys!
I will always be impressed by these reviews. That you got Acura development involved is what elevates this channel far above ALL other car review channels. Period.
I love my Acura Integra Type-S😊
The amount of respect I have for Jonathan and Acura for assisting you guys is incredible. It seems like more manufacturers are helping and it is great to see!
I disagree. He's a part of the culprits who gives the nob to the oversized corporate front end beak to the entire line up for like 10+ years and no moon roof and rear seat center arm rest to this supposed to be the luxury Type R.
The way I see it is they don't wanna invest any more money on the exterior and slacking it til the electrification comes along. I hope the Acura brand could survive cuz I don't see many of them around.
@@kasio22Bhe was saying he has respect for them sitting down to answer questions on behalf of the manufacturer, not that he has respect for decision/choices made for the car itself.

1997 Acura Integra Type R was $25k MSRP... $47k in 2023 dollars. So really not too far off of what they're asking now... also sobering look at inflation.
wow sobering indeed
And I'm guessing you used the CPI calculator for those figures which has been systemically under calculating inflation for years.
So why is a base Integra just $32,000? All they've done here is a facelift and a better engine... for a mere $19,000
@@bbartlow0307 Exactly. Not to mention that other cars with this motor go for less money....MSRP....
This engine does not warrant a 20 grand mark up. Its cheap, its been made for two decades, its just freaking K series and any 5 year old with their moms credit card can put one together like lego. The profit margins on this thing must be 25% or more.

The epitome of what makes SG the best: high production value, super deep dives into all aspects of the car, OEM participation, objective review. Been watching for years and remain impressed with every video, thank you as always!

You guys hit every single aspect of the car. Nobody goes into the amount of detail in an entertaining way morw than you guys. From enthusiasts to potential car buyers you guys create some awesome content!
I LOVE that he went out and bought a Focus RS for research purposes for his team
As an RS owner, I can’t help being proud that this car is still influential even though it has been out of production for over 5 years. Can’t wait to hear the Type S in person.
Unfortunately price killed the RS. That's why you never see them on the road, even in Michigan where they're from. Every other car is a Mustang. They on the other hand sold like hotcakes
@@paulvicks1336I believe the RS was designed and built in Germany by the European Ford team. The car likely didn’t sell well because of its engine problems and lack of comfort compared to the competition.
@@jbrandon302 It is less stiff than the new CTR. Unfortunately you are right about the gasket issue being overblown, leading to some potential buyers to look elsewhere.
@paulvicks1336 price didn't kill the RS. They were never offered with incentives from Ford. All of them sold, many with dealer markup, and very few with dealer discounts. Those that were discounted by dealers were mostly from dealerships that had sat on them with crazy markups for a long time while later model years became available or other dealerships charged less markup. None of this would have been the case if Ford had priced the RS poorly.
The RS isn't from Michigan. It was designed primarily in Europe, and assembled in Germany. It was imported from Germany, and has a German VIN.
The RS, like those before it, was a planned 3 year production run from the beginning. Perhaps the limited production for the final model year was a result of the use of the improper head gasket in prior year's production, though.
If we only get half as many videos, but they're all like this, I'm all for it.
🙏 please keep making videos of this depth! The technical discussion with OEM perspectives adds a lot of context to their decision making process, then it all comes full circle on the test drive. As someone who swore off Hondas because of the toxic community and dealership experience, your review has caused me to reconsider this. If you’re a parent who wants something that is more practical than a coupe and costs less than $70k, this seems like a solid choice. Mark ups aren’t palatable to me, but when you don’t have a lot of choices that are new, shopping for a dealer that will be more fair is critical.
I don't know why anyone would pay a dealer markup. I paid 2500 under msrp for my tlx type s when everyone was talking about markups on theirs. Interest rates are already horrible for excellent credit.
@@Mike-lt6sj No body wants that car (TLX Type S) compared to this car. Everyone wants this car. They're sold before they even reach the dealerships. The handling and inputs are just much better in the Integra. I guess if you must have an automatic then a TLX is a good option.
@@spaceenthusiast5242 That's a tad too small for me. I had an accord coupe and the Integra is smaller than that. FWD works in snow, but AWD is king. I would love a manual transmission, though.
Jeez y’all have the best video production Ive seen for car reviews. Great work guys!
I know 4k HDR is beautiful and almost nobody is doing it! The color correction for a video with so many different upscalings going on must be a PIA. It look’s pretty good and will only get better. Thanks Savage!
No. Speedlabs by motor envy has the best production quality, but this is still pretty good!
I have VERY fond memories of my base/low trim level Civics. The memorable thing about 90s Hondas for me is they all were decently fun to throw around
And lots of HS kids these days agree! 😆
@@chuckcribbs3398 haha I can't even find 90s Hondas around anymore 😢
Maybe they were tuned differently in the UK, but I had a 96 civic. The soft suspension and utterly remote steering were total turn offs. Engines and gearbox tho.... wow!
Drive a 2016-2020 Civic Sport or LX sedan or coupe with the 2 liter NA engine and manual transmission.
Because they weighed nothing. This will not be the same in modern day civic or integra.
You can see how happy/excited Mark is driving this on track. You had fun with this project and it’s great to see. Great video gents!
most detailed deep dive car reviews period, no one comes close with how technical, nerdy and objective as savagegeese. super happy to see the manufactures involved with helping produce quality deep dives into the development behind certain cars. always a pleasure to watch and enjoy. kudos to honda/acura, GM and porsche for recognizing how important these videos can be to the enthusiast.

"If you want a car like this, this is your only option. Thankfully, it is a pretty good car. Sorry, nothing is affordable anymore." That's what I got from this video.
That's what I'm getting from everywhere. What's the solution?

I normally don't watch 40 minute videos on youtube, but this one felt like it was over in 15 minutes. The whole video was super engaging and the video production was excellent. Great job!
First car I bought new was an Integra RS in 1987. It was a 1986 model, but with Acura being a new brand name people didn't realize what it was which was essentially an upgraded civic with a different body.
Only 99 hpp, but I drove it like I stole it for years. Over 275k miles wheen I sold it.
Similar to the CR-X Si! I loved that car but college got in the way. 🥴
I love my 00 Integra. I'll be it's last owner.
$55,000 is a pretty steep entry price. With dealers already adding $15k to $20k markup on these...it becomes totally irrelevant. No one with any sense is going to pay $70,000 for this Integra.
Sports cars are soon to start at $100k in this stagflation. Buy your dream car while you can
No sane person is going to buy it even for MSRP (+taxes, docs, etc), this is ridiculously niche and out of touch product...
@@rosgoncharuk2403 Honestly, you make a great point. $55,000 for a 300hp FWD 4-banger is already asking a lot.
@@rosgoncharuk2403 agreed. Unfortunately 😢
$55k is a bit steep for this car in my opinion as well (under $50k loaded would be fair). But I think there will be those that will pay that for this car given the heritage and they want a car more refined than the CTR. But to have dealers tack on $15k to $20k further crowds out the buyer pool who would pay $55k. Then the manufacturers stop making them because sales were dismal. The dealers are literally bottlenecking the manufacturers' new car sales. They already make plenty of money already with the invoice-MSRP and financing spreads.
When they started talking about the exhaust, and he started building up to the car they wanted to strive towards with “emotional sound”, I was whispering “say the RS, say the RS” and I fist pumped when he said it. The RS really nailed the pops and bangs to sound like a chaotic hot hatch without being a bmw with a burble tune.
Over the last month you guys have become my go to automotive channel, really well done on all the videos I've seen so far.
The technical breakdowns is one of my favorite sections covered in every episode. Keep up the great work!

Thank you for turning down the brightness on the info sheets!!! Appreciate everything you do and all the time and effort that is put into your videos!
My local dealer has 5 of them, and as of this morning only one was accounted for. They told me that they were “forced” to have them equipped with all the accessories, and are going to be locked in at 10k over MSRP.
Honda being honda. Waiting till their cars are worthless to buy them for half off when poeple just stop buying into their BS pricing.
The interest rates are brutalizing dealers right now, they're trying to hide the fact that inventory is normalizing by hiding cars like the snakes they are. They won't be able to sustain their little markup games much longer.
So roughly $65k. Crazy.
They can fuck off with this pile...
I live in nw Florida. Called about a white one: 80k. Before I hung up, they said “we won’t lose a customer over price.” I couldn’t help but laugh.

Philosophy behind cars is so cool. Oems have interesting ways they integrate focus ideas to mass production cars. Like how to integrate racing to a car yet still comfortably let someone with kids do grocery runs regularly.
Hands down best review i've seen so far! Amazing car!
Its funny, growing up, there was haters of the original Integra GSR and type-Rs and even the DC5 Type S. Point is, Acura always had haters and to this day, you'll find them lurking on this newer model type-S. People will complain, oh its FWD, oh not enough power, oh its overpriced, oh it doesnt have this, that blah blah. But it never separated the fact that Honda/Acura simply builds spectacular cars who generates a strong and true fanbase. Acura has always stayed focused on its project without being distracted by the critics. This car will be revered many years later and you would need to love Acura/Honda to own one.
Holy fuck does this video pop on my TV, the amount of time and energy you spend on nailing the color grading, etc must be insane.

One of your best 'in depths' IMO, Mark and Jack. Thank you. 🙏👍👏
They weren't common because they limited their production even back in the 90's and early 00's. So people couldn't get their hands on them easily even back then. So don't tell us "the market" didn't want these cars, or that a 2-door version of an Integra wouldn't sell out in the current market. I could barely get my hands on a 2020 Honda Si Coupe when I was shopping around for it. The dealers in my area (eastern PA) had none, and had to order one for me.

I understand you are trying to be respectful to the Acura Rep but if you just end up agreeing with all his points and not ask actual hard questions, how are you any different from any other youtube channel who does the same thing and comply and agree with the reps? I think there can be a middle ground of being respectful but also being able to ask hard questions because all the things the Acura Rep said were just basically avoiding all of the consumers real questions. Mainly, the price doesn't make sense. The demographic target of buyers of what the Integra was for before and now is completely different and just disappointing. Overall, you bring out great content but just a bit disappointed in keeping reps honest.
Agreed. I was thinking the same thing. They probably were not allowed to bring up certain things. To NOT touch on the price of this thing is crazy. It's most likely the #1 talked about thing right now.
@@vdlion717 Yeah I agree. The price of the ITS is in range of someone who needs to make 6 figures at the minimum for it to be a financially responsible buy. They completely missed the mark for what this car is and who it's for and to praise Acura for this seems wrong imo. In his conclusion, he mentions if you want the old cars, you go buy them. I understand the cars won't be as small or light as before because of safety etc, but where you can't change the size or weight, you can at least make it accessible for the younger enthusiast who have a lighter wallet but at 52k it's not. The GR86 is a great example of a car done right with the price done right. The ITS should not be remotely close to the demographic of BMW M240/M2 owners. It never was and it never should be.
In Summary, if this ITS doesn't embody anything of the old ITS, then don't call it an Integra. Give it a completely different model name. But using "Integra" to get back enthusiast when it doesn't embody anything of the old is just a scam. I guess making something FWD and an Integra name plate is all it takes to be an Integra. Not a single REAL criticism remark from SG. Just some light remarks here and there that doesn't highlight the real issues so the reps keep coming back for more content. But that's how all youtuber reviews are coming too, not just SG. Only a few real ones left, Jason Cammisa, Chris Harris etc.

I like the fact that Honda/Acura is giving us Type S in general. They did not have to and just make more SUVs. The pricing on it is pretty hefty, but that's the price they probably NEED to make up for the cost of development and whatever the heck. Dealer markups though? Another story...
People need to remember how expensive things have gotten. An audi s3 is also around 50k, and can get more expensive than this fully loaded
