    You probably know all this already but here goes.. The HW80/Beeman R1 is an actual magnum springer with a 30mm piston, and installing the Vortek kit probably cost you 1 foot pound of energy. But that TWANG and vibration was so bad that I'd say the kit was still an improvement. Most folks prefer the HW95/Beeman R9 because it's a little tamer with the 26mm piston and spring that's easier to cock. Either way with that much power in 177 I'd go with a heavy pellet. Great video and who doesn't love a high quality springer. 🙂

    I find it annoying that the rifle's are de tuned to 12ftlb here in the UK when they are capable of so much more power while keeping accuracy . keep video's coming always good 👍☺️

      It's unfortunate that there's a restriction. Still, you guys are responsible for turning airgunning into an adult sport. When your power options are limited, your left with trying to extract accuracy instead of horsepower. Some of the best springer shooting I've ever seen was by folks in the UK. Be proud. You guys have certainly learned to make the best of an unfortunate restriction.

      Accuracy is far more important than power. The difference in the field between a UK spec rifle and an FAC HW80 in the US is minimal. If you think that you will be engaging targets/quarry at significantly greater range, then you are WRONG. I've killed Magpies on numerous occasions at 50m with my UK rated Weihrauch rifles. Being accurate and knowing how to aim off is more irrelevant and important in the field than an extra 5-6 FPE over the UK 12 FPE limit.

      @@liverpoolscottish6430 I couldn't agree more I have 6sub 12ftlb rifle's including a BSA r10se , hw97k ,tx200and a prosport .I wouldn't up the power on any of them they all shoot really well. But I would like a BSA r10 or similar with 30+ ftlb without having to mess about getting a licence I wouldn't bother getting a springer with more power because it's not worth the difference

      Using your uk spec HW80 can you tell me how much energy is retained at 50metres? Unless you can consistently shoot 30mm witnessed groups at that sort of distance please don't shoot indiscriminately at animals. Thanks.

    Thanks for this video👍Nice to do the HW 80 review in several videos. My HW 80 in .25 cal does 18,3 fps with JSB King 25.39gr. 569,5 ft/s and 17 fps with Hades 26.54gr. 535.8 ft/s These are the only pellets i have tested. With the Kings i shoot very compact groups, almost hole in hole (25 meters), so there is no need for me to test something else. The Hades do fine too, but they spread a little bit more. Please keep on doing these great videos. I like them so much because they are honest reviews and there is no sponsored b.s and crap like a lot of others do. A lot of viewers here can only spent their money once on a springer and than it is important to make the right choice. I can recommend the HW 80 for those who also want to hunt small game and for pest control.

    • @razor1962
      @razor1962  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sadly, the HW80 has been displaced as number two. I'm not too sure about number one either, but I think that I recall 30 ft/lbs is considered max on the 90. The Theoben rifles were doing about the same, and today, we also have the Hatsan 135 all the way up to .30 cal. for about 30 ft/lbs
      It would seem that the thirst for speed in airguns is a thirst that'll never be quenched.
      Airguns fill a niche where a quiet, low powered gun is the preferred weapon of choice. Yet, we all get sucked into that void. Some of us find our way back while others remain unquenched on the dark side...😉

    You mention about your gun dieseling, I don’t like the idea of your gun doing that. I believe it can lead to problems with your gun. The hw80 is such an easy gun to take apart and carry out maintenance on. If there is too much grease in I would clean it out. There are good videos out there to show how to take the 80 apart.

    • @razor1962
      @razor1962  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Peter. Yes, I'm aware that prolonged dieseling can cause harm to the rifle. A small amount of grease made its was into the compression chamber when I installed a tune kit. Those CPH will help you cough that sludge out from the tune. I had the same problem with the 350M. The light pellets don't offer enough resistance and it goes supersonic and the lightweights hour glass and gyrate out of control. 😉 She don't like the little guys ! ☝️😉
    If you installed that PTFE Seal you're gonna want to limit that dieseling or you may burn up that seal. It's PTFE so it literally IS Petroleum ! 🙀 The heat from detonation will burn it up... 😳
    EDIT: I mis-spoke Vortek seals are Moly Urethane, but the warning is still valid. It's too early for me to honestly say how long they'll last but considerably less than pure urethane.
