You and Harley looked relaxed and strong during your canter. It was fun to watch.
Thank you - he's not the fittest at the moment but we had a lovely time!
I love how your coach just casually gets her phone out to film while cantering, I would definitely drop it! Looked like a lot of fun and I totally get where you're coming from. I've lost my nerve riding outside even though I've never had a bad experience but when I pluck up the courage I love it.
Haha she's great!!
Watching this right now- thank you for sharing your journey. I'm still recovering from a bad fall at a canter (horse fell, I fell and was injured) that happened 4 years ago. Fun video to watch and visualize what a fun canter is :-). Got a good coach like you who is helping me get past the mental barriers. Thanks for the videos-Riding with Rhi is my favorite TH-cam channel!
I'm sorry to hear you had a bad fall too, but sounds like you have a great coach and are setting yourself up for success! So glad you are enjoying the videos, too.
You have done Incredibly well with him well done to you !! He's really nice horse
Thank you - I feel he was started so well and has such a lovely nature I can't take too much credit, but I am delighted to be part of his journey to becoming a grown up angel horse
Absolutely. Coach out with you is excellent. And those bad riding moments linger for ages, the older you get, the longer they take to disperse. I gave up at 69 after a couple of awful events that probably wouldn't have shaken me so much at 40. 😢
Wonderful news. I'm glad you are working so well together.
I love your vids so much❤😊
Thank you - I love the ‘come along with me’ videos. I am someone who is riding only on weekends at a school. I don’t get to do off property rides (because of insurance issues on the US mostly) so vicariously riding with you is fun (and helps me imagine a future where I have my own horse). I am older than you but in a place where I am keen to branch out.
Oh this is lovely feedback! Thank you for sharing
That was great......for both of you. Love Harleys long, lopy canter. Guess he's not a fit as he thinks he is 😂. Great confidence boost for you. Well done. ❤
Haha he's definitely not! But he did have a lovely time ❤
Thanks for sharing this significant step! I can totally relate to the very real PTSD that occurs after a fall. The good news after my horse spooked and bucked me off resulting in a broken collar bone (I'm in my 60's) was the diagnosis of her stomach ulcers which have responded well to treatment. Riding is so mental (LOL). I got on my horse yesterday and talked us through just walk and trot in the arena and it felt great! Liked I'd climbed a mountain. I have no coach, never mind one who would hack out with me. Maybe I need to look harder to find someone. Your authenticity is completely engaging.
How awesome! Totally get that lack of confidence at specific times. Here’s a strange thing…I’m totally confident on other people’s horses, but less confident on mine. Hmmmmmm……. Thanks for sharing! ❤❤❤
I totally get this - there are certain horses I feel super safe on! Thankfully, Harley is becoming one of them
aw harley looks so cute! the amount of pleasure after your canter was amazing! You can tell he tried his best!
he was suchhh a good boy! We love him
This is such a great format for a lesson. I do prefer the chest cam and plan to also use one. As my horse likes to pretend that he's a hefty giraffe, I guess that the view is going to be even more blocked.
He was such a good boy! Not a fan of the chest cam as the view is massively blocked though but well done
He is! I get that (and I agree) but it’s a safety thing for me now. I just don’t feel comfortable putting it on my hat. ❤️
Yea, great ride. Looks like a nice soft bit for Harley?
Thanks! He’s in the Neue Schule trans angled full cheek. Theres a detailed explanation of it vs. Similar bits and why this design works differently here: thehorsebitshop.co.uk/product/8023fc-neue-schule-tranz-angled-full-cheek/
@@RidingWithRhi I used a fulmer many years ago. Like some others here, I am an older person who lives vicariously through you and one other. Thanks for the info.
