I love that when he first rejected, you rewarded him and told him it's okay, and to just try again and figure it out. That's true horsemanship right there. You are such an inspiration, Ten loves you!
I agree with your strategy of talking to the horse it helps them focus and calm down when they’re to excited I use this strategy ALL the time when I ride my horse Nacho
I already commented this on tiktok but im still so impressed by your composure through such a difficult exercise, that's how you build confidence in a horse!! also glad you mentioned how hard you had to work on xc, i watched that helmet cam and my first thought was WHEW you had to ride the *heck* out of that!! thanks for sharing!
Aww thank you!! :) Yes! He definitely uses me to conserve his energy by balancing on me. That was the main reason I wanted to work on a grid like this because he doesn't have the chance to! I was dying on XC because of how much he was using the hackamore to balance himself. He's in such great shape he doesn't need to do that, but Ten is way too smart for his own good LOL
I really really don’t mean to be rude because we’re all learning and growing equestrians but I feel like it would help you if you gave yourself more time to approach the fence and had a better Cantor with more impulsion but I also don’t know this horse at all 💖
It's ok! Just keep in mind watching a gopro video can be difficult to perceive whats actually going on because of the angle its shot at. Coming into a bounce you don't want to have too much canter coming in otherwise they can't rock back on their hind end. Thats why the beginning bounces are more round and rhythmic and the last bounces after the oxers seem rushed. I really wanted him to start getting some elasticity in his gait and over fences. This was a VERY hard exercise for him, but he did fantastic!
Man you sound like me when I ride! Do people comment on how much you talk to your horses?? I think they like to know when they do well. My mare will let out a nicker of triumph when I laugh after a tough exercise. It's so cute but it proves they really do have emotions like us. Plus I am a dog trainer and I believe there's no such thing as too much communication!
At what point would you start counting his strides up to the jump? If you do at all - just curious to know! Beautiful riding, can only hope to be this good one day!!!
does he wear a hackamore because he is sensitive in the mouth? I ride a OTTB for my trainer but if you touch the bit to much he loses it. so I was wondering if maybe a hackamore would work better. thanks
I could just hear my trainer yelling when you went at an angle to some of the jumps( I don’t know if you actually did or if it was just the camera angle but amazing job)
No, its letting them see the jump from up close so they know what’s coming up and won’t be scared of it. I think it even prevents refusals most of the time. It’s a really friendly way to let a horse get used to (new) jumps.
I’m with you, in my opinion, (not offend anyone) she’s just teaching that horse how not to jump by rewarding him every time that he refuses, he refuses as a little kid, she doesn’t even try to make him jump, whenever the horse wants, he can just refuse and let the rider fall in the obstacle
Not at all, do you walk to jumps then jump it? No right? Horses are smarter than that they know you are showing them the jump, not rewarding them for “refusing”
@@BlackJack.Hope_EQher doing the 3 bounces in the beginning then turning left before the next jump is awful, when she’s expecting him to jump it the next time around. Walking up to fences letting a horse see them is fine. But turning away right before a fence in a grid, then jumping it next is just wrong. No good trainer would have someone do that.

Нужно ещё ногами двигать тогда лошадь отлично пойдёт на барьер
@@ИванИванов-и4ц2м русские?!😅
You don't even know how to spell canter
Yeah y can’t rlly go fast into a bounce or ur screwed, also cannot tell impulsion from GoPro video usually . Also *canter
Very goood!! :)
This! This right here! This TH-camr is who I wanna turn out like! ❤❤

Good job of staying on theough those couple refusals! What's the height on these jumps?
I honestly can’t remember!! Haha.
I love how you say “Handsome!”
Your so awesome! This is my first video and from the beginning u gained a new subscriber! Your so good
He’s so cute trying his best for u even tho he thinks it’s a bit difficult awwwww❤❤
He’s soooo good I love how ur just like (YESSSSS GOOD JOB GOOD JOB BUDDY) I was just like if all equestrian’s was like this it would be good
Thanks for sharing that was fun
I actually felt like I was riding
I haven’t ridden in a long time
At what point would you start counting his strides up to the jump? If you do at all - just curious to know! Beautiful riding, can only hope to be this good one day!!!
I would say most people count 3-6 strides away from the jump
Now this is horsemanship
Hello! I’m new to your channel and I just wanted to ask you why Ten wears goggles?
I love watching it from your perspective! ❤
Why is he wearing goggles? And are you riding bitless? 😊
I think it's a fly protection thing, to protect the horse's eyes from flies? Idk, I only rode for around 8months
She is riding but less but a hacks more is a totally different bit and the googles are probably for a horse with sensitive eyes to the sun
The goggles can be for the flies, sun and dirt or dust. some horses get irritated from those things
for anyone curious they started jumping at 7:00 ❤
So cute asnd great work out there! What are the goggles for though I have never seen them?
does he wear a hackamore because he is sensitive in the mouth? I ride a OTTB for my trainer but if you touch the bit to much he loses it. so I was wondering if maybe a hackamore would work better. thanks
Hi! quick question to anyone but why does Ten wear goggles?
"Stupid, Stupid!' really got me 5:31
3:01 he came through so well
I have a question because I ride western but is it tiring jumping for the human?
Yes jumping is very tiring because you have your Focus on the jump but you also have to focus on the approach to the jump and your position
I know this video was from a long time ago but new sub!
What is that saddle pad color called?
I could just hear my trainer yelling when you went at an angle to some of the jumps( I don’t know if you actually did or if it was just the camera angle but amazing job)
It’s actually very good to ride jumps on weird angles sometimes, it helps with letting the horse focus and learning how to use his feet when jumping.
Oh ok my trained doesn’t like me doing it for some reason lol
For what he needs glasses? 🙈
Some horses wear them to keep dust out of their eyes but some wear them to keep sun out of their eyes
What camera are you using with your Pivo?
The pivo I use my iphone.
@@KandtheBays Ah ok. I do too but I need a way to listen to RideIQ and pivo lol my current solution is to steal one of my childrens phones lol
on 4:27 i couldn't tell if it was a bonce or a big oxer at first, haha
I can't believe that it said my name Kelsey
I don’t understand what the goggles to for him… when doing arena work
It’s probably because his eyes might be very sensitive to the sun
it's supposed to help with dust or the sun for their eyes
GOGGLES FOR WHAT?
i think to keep dirt out of his eyes, or the sun
Give the horse a break
She did give the horse a break a lot in the lesson and she also gave him ice boots which helps after a ride of jumping and doing all that stuff
she did give the horse a break and gave the horse ice boots
get some knowledge before commenting crap like this
Stop pulling your horse in the mouth, you are such a bad rider
She is not pulling on the horses mouth be quite.
uh she's not pulling to much at all
the horse is fine if it was uncomfortable it'd let her know
In my opinion, making your horse walk up to a jump and making them stop is just teaching them to refuse the jump.

nope
go jump a horse irl
walking up to the jump and introducing it to them is great for the horse
every horse is different too

can i just say you cant trot that its not good for the pony so pls never do it again
firstly ten is not a pony and secondly it's not bad for him in any way especially since the fence is low.
Why can’t they trot it?
Um what you can trot up to small fences it is not bad for them as I have done that before with my horse
huh? trot jumps are good for both horse and rider
Wait girl what?…
The googles r sooo cute❤

give her a break she’s being so sweet to these babies, u need to actually pay attention
