Scary Stuff! Mine will arrive in two days and now i am scared about the scratches already. Any words to the color accuracy in CONSOLE MODE and also peak brightness in that mode?
I'm assuming this is a stop-gap since the setting is global and not per connection. My HDMI I want to use Dolby Vision (Google Chromecast), but my DP Port (PC) I want to use HDR-1000. But turning off Dolby Vision also turns it off for HDMI. Which raises another question... is the monitor ideally supposed to auto-detect Dolby Vision in the signal?
I have two AW3225QFs going back to Dell tomorrow and I'm not sure it's worth rolling the dice on a 3rd unit due to shipping damage to the panel coating. Also, the gamma drives me nuts in SDR standard and creator/srgb modes... way too much black crush. Honestly, the gamma issues out of the box are the real deal breaker for me. Haven't tried your icc profile for the AW3225QF yet, but I have no issues with the AW3423DW out of the box. Really appreciate you staying on top of all of these issues so maybe Dell will be inclined to fix them. Just mind boggling how many RMAs they could prevent by installing a film on the panel. Back to the AW3423DW for now...
I'm on my first one and it came scratched, going to try RMAing a 2nd unit. I won't try a third. I find unacceptable that Dell didn't think of adding a simple plastic peel to the monitors.
I have this monitor. When launching Elden Ring I guess it attempts to use Dolby Vision and I see the raised black levels, however after hitting a button to get logged in the screen blinks and the black levels return to normal and from the looks of it I think HDR is working. Does that mean Dolby Vision is broken in this scenario or does it revert to the “normal” hdr10? I guess I could play with the new firmware later. Other games HDR seems alive and well so not sure whats going on. Can they advertise Dolby Vision if we aren’t sure it even works?
my aw came broken last week with no signal, i send it back without replacement. i was able to pre-order the msi model yesterday and i should get it next week. the msi is $250 cheaper and has no fans and no bubble wrap smudges, comes with kvm switch and uses graphene for cooling like the $1299 asus model. tbh, aw needs to drop their qd-oled monitor to $899.
Does disabling Dolby Vision still allow 12 bit color over HDMI? What about the HDR 1000+Dolby Vision washed out bug that Rtings and others are reporting?
From what I remember, you get a USB stick and download the update onto it. Then you put the USB drive into the monitor and i believe it automatically updates it or maybe you need to pick some option on the monitor navigation. hope this helps
@@realhectorcastillo No, that is wrong. The FW file needs to be on your PC, and the Monitor updatres from the PC via USB cable. All the info as to how to do it is on the Dell site.

This monitor looks magnificent when it stays on for me. Been gaming for bout an hour and this thing just turns itself off n won’t turn on until multiple tries but pressing power button and unplugging and replugging. Straight bs paid $1800 for this thing and month of owning am experiencing many problems. Aside from on and off problems my screen is showing these blue specs smudged across from left to right sometimes smudges sometimes straight lines. How the f*** do you deal with these problems man somebody help!!
The problem is Dolby vision is only an HDR product, so measuring it in SDR is pointless because all it does is overblown the image since SDR content is not rated for HDR. Dolby Vision require HDR meta data to do the thing it does, which is tone map the color with the appropriate brightness. So using this monitor for SDR content in Dolby Vision will provide and inaccurate image and should not be possible and I am sure Dolby will make Dell fix this.
I got very lucky with zero damage. Basically at this point if they would fix the brightness I’d be fully happy. I’m using HDMI even though in control panel it doesn’t seem to like G-Sync. Seems fine with DP. I think NVIDIA has the support for this monitor status as “upcoming driver “ so maybe that will fix it. Maybe not.
Hey idk if you can figure it out, but there seems to be no consistency. After installing the Update, and running windows HDR calibration. I am trying all the various modes and combos to see what/how windows thinks. and in Display > Advanced Display. SOMETIMES windows is reporting Peak Brightness as 1010 nits. Which right now i finally got it back to displaying that number, after many attempts of trying to figure out how i got it earlier. I THINK i was in HDR True Black earlier when i first saw it, but right now im in DV Bright, with windows saying Peak 1010 nits, but it has been more consistently saying 993 nits, why idk. but that is where i have been BEFORE this FW update. i have never had it report 1000 or over, now 1010. I noticed like you said in the video my desktop seemed dimmer after update. so i tried everything out and re ran HDR calibrations. Hope this helps and we can figure out something. clearly buggy still and how its reporting to the PC or how the PC is reading it? one or the other is screwy
now i was able to turn OFF DV, and Windows is STILL saying 1010 Nits, so idk, there is no constancy, it just took like 10 mins to get it to show 1010 nits again. however, my desktop right now even on youtube, looks very DIM compared to the comment i just typed above
Can you tell me, do I need to use NVIDIA control panel to enable 10-bit with this monitor? I followed your directions in going with the default and no NVIDIA and I am only seeing 8-bit in my display properties.
My aw3225qf has some very minor scratches on the edges of the screen. I havnt noticed it since i first got it and everything else seems fine so while I'm not happy about it I'm not too upset
@keppycs tbh I have to go out of my way to notice it and I'm happy with everything else. Seems like the rma process just would be a hassle for very little gain. I'd rather spend that energy on the rma process if burn in occurs or something else breaks. I totally get why someone else might though
Tell me im looking at this wrong. 1. I like that the samsung has an audio jack and blue tooth. Does the dell have it? 2. Samsung can go much brighter. Is the dell bright enough tho? My room is right beside a window so im worried dell wont be bright enough since it has a glossy finish. 3. With some tweeking, can the Samsung come looking as good as the dell? In conclusion, the blue tooth, jack and brightness plus the 1000r curve points to Samsung as the winner. Now dell has better color. But if Samsung can be tweeked. Does that mean samsung is still better?

Hello DP guy! tnx for the video. When will you be making the comparison of this one vs the Asus PG32UCDM and the MSI one? Or maybe I should ask, when will you be receiving those physical units to male a real head to head comparison? Great channel BTW!
I was told I will be able to get units mid march from all manufacturers.
Hopefully Aorus too.🤞 @@thedisplayguy
How do you do the firmware updates?
Would love a little more comparison to DV on and DV off in a few more games
I read that using a Display cable allowed more brightness then the HDMI, any thoughts on that?. Plan to buy this monitor next month to replace my broken Pg348q. Great Video btw!
One question, have you encountered any problems by any chance? because in mine it's as if the screen is badly centered.. as if the image doesn't cover the entire screen but there are black bands on the right side and occasionally also at the bottom.. Thanks
Gonna wait for all bugs to be fixed before jumping in.
Love your content brother. As of right now which is the best flat 32inch 4k 240hz monitor that is the closet to glossy? Or should we wait. Currently using LG c2 42inch
Scary Stuff! Mine will arrive in two days and now i am scared about the scratches already. Any words to the color accuracy in CONSOLE MODE and also peak brightness in that mode?
So are you telling us to not buy one yet? As of today, 2/29?
Guy is all over the place with his bipolar click bait videos.

HDMI or DisplayPort? 1 or 2 monitors?

When will you be reviewing the MPG 321URX?
What was the game with the canoe????
I'm assuming this is a stop-gap since the setting is global and not per connection. My HDMI I want to use Dolby Vision (Google Chromecast), but my DP Port (PC) I want to use HDR-1000. But turning off Dolby Vision also turns it off for HDMI. Which raises another question... is the monitor ideally supposed to auto-detect Dolby Vision in the signal?
I received mine two days ago and am still wondering if I did the right thing or should have gone with something else instead. Any opinion guys.
Monitor gets locked to 120hz when it wakes from sleep.
You’re lying
Does it come with a 1.4 dp cable?
Received mine 2 days ago, yes it does.
@erichawkins3322 - New FW as of last week - 105
I’d just gotten mine, thankfully no damage on the display but how do I check the firmware version and how would I go about updating that?
Could this thing be used as a decent hdr color grading monitor? If not, would you mind explaining why?
my aw came broken last week with no signal, i send it back without replacement. i was able to pre-order the msi model yesterday and i should get it next week. the msi is $250 cheaper and has no fans and no bubble wrap smudges, comes with kvm switch and uses graphene for cooling like the $1299 asus model. tbh, aw needs to drop their qd-oled monitor to $899.
are you goin to review MSI 27’ 360hz qd-oled?
Is it worth upgrading from the alienware 34" 175hz 1440p?
Does disabling Dolby Vision still allow 12 bit color over HDMI? What about the HDR 1000+Dolby Vision washed out bug that Rtings and others are reporting?
yes you can still check 12 bit in the nvidia control panel but it doesnt change anything since the panel only can do 10bit native.
@@nhentschelo I think it does improve image quality as it uses FRC. How does windows report it?
@@UNr34 really? Maybe I need to test it
I’m totally new to this stuff. How do I do the updates for this monitor? Thanks to whoever answers this I really appreciate it
From what I remember, you get a USB stick and download the update onto it.
Soooo are you gonna do any videos on the other qd oleds that came out recently or are you just hyper focused on pumping out videos for thia aw because this is like the 4th or 5th video youve done on this panel.
Calm down chief. This was the first one out. And only new model available to buy right now
@@acmech1012 thats a super weak excuse bud, stop simping.
I returned this monitor since I couldn’t use DLDSR like I can on the AW3423DW
The problem is Dolby vision is only an HDR product, so measuring it in SDR is pointless because all it does is overblown the image since SDR content is not rated for HDR. Dolby Vision require HDR meta data to do the thing it does, which is tone map the color with the appropriate brightness. So using this monitor for SDR content in Dolby Vision will provide and inaccurate image and should not be possible and I am sure Dolby will make Dell fix this.
Does DSR work on this monitor? I’ve heard mixed things due to DSC sometimes blocking it and sometimes not
It won’t because of Display Stream Compression. AMD can do it. Nvidia can’t.
Any VRR flicker that so many report?
Do they offer true black or true purple?
I got very lucky with zero damage. Basically at this point if they would fix the brightness I’d be fully happy. I’m using HDMI even though in control panel it doesn’t seem to like G-Sync. Seems fine with DP. I think NVIDIA has the support for this monitor status as “upcoming driver “ so maybe that will fix it. Maybe not.
Does gsync suppose to work in hdmi 2.1? My desktop still havent recognize it?
And i restarted my PC, and am still on DV BRIGHT, and now windows says PEAK 500.... wtf windows... get your shiii together....
turned OFF DV Bright, Changed to TB 400, and now windows says Peak 426.... sigh..................
i can not get it back to Peak 1010 nits again.... i give up. staying in DV Bright, from HDR Peak 1000 first. (idk if that makes a diff)
You can set the nits in windows calibration app, just move the slider to 1000 regardless of the picture.
we need an MSI MPG321URX Review!!!
Do I need to update the fw one by one or just download and update the latest one will do
How important is this stuff if I buy it for a ps5? I’m just future proofing bcz I am gonna be getting a pc soon
How is the earc? Any issues connecting to home theater?

Does the firmware update comes with a cat?
Can you tell me, do I need to use NVIDIA control panel to enable 10-bit with this monitor? I followed your directions in going with the default and no NVIDIA and I am only seeing 8-bit in my display properties.
It will be 10bit if you enable HDR in Windows. Also I’m updating that post tonight with new info because of the firmware changes.
Thank you thank you!!@@thedisplayguy
10 bit only when using HDR, WTF?
I'm having trouble with the firmware update, it won't detect my monitor...
you have to connect the monitor and the pc with USB-Upstream cable...
@@jusufmeoh, I was using regular usb-a and usb-a to usb-c and I'm like wtf. Thanks a bunch.
From what I’ve seen windows is the culprit as far as the Dolby vision issues go. Hopefully Microsoft fixes the Dolby issues
My aw3225qf has some very minor scratches on the edges of the screen. I havnt noticed it since i first got it and everything else seems fine so while I'm not happy about it I'm not too upset
From my experience, Dell has a very solid RMA process. I'd RMA it
@keppycs tbh I have to go out of my way to notice it and I'm happy with everything else. Seems like the rma process just would be a hassle for very little gain. I'd rather spend that energy on the rma process if burn in occurs or something else breaks. I totally get why someone else might though
@@veilmontTV Yeah, I'd save the RMA for a burn in claim as well ^^
@@keppycs You don't have to 'save' anything. You can RMA any number of times.
Is the aw2725df a good choice with less issues?
Yes.
Why does nobody compare this to ASUS UCDM one?
Like it or not? I love it.
I can't update with MacBook :(
Dumb question - if i downrez to 1440p, does this monitor still support 240hz?
@mcubed1 - if you wanna run at 1440, save $$$ and buy a 1440 monitor - Duh!
@Mafioso1731 - try going to the Dell site for that info - Duh! Also, it doesn't have a 1000r curve, it's 1800R, which is mild. That info also on the Dell site!

My condolences for anyone who bought this monitor, this is unacceptable man how long they been making monitors and they haven’t even figured out who to package the shit so it ain’t scratched etc etc? Massive L, I’d rather spend the extra for ASUS
@George-um2vc - maybe, but here in the UK that 'extra' is a whopping 35% extra, not a small increase.
The best one on the market is the only one available to buy, the curved dell alienware 😂🤣
They all have scratches on the screen that’s why I refuse to buy one until they fix that.
@CR-hr9ri - you mean SOME of them have screen damage - where does the 'All' come from, which is so obviously wrong?? Apparently they've now sorted the issue.
The UCDM is too dark 😢 I want to love it but games like RE Village are so dark it’s almost unplayable.
