My whole life I thought my hair was straight until my friend Anna tried the curly girl method on me a few weeks ago and my waves came through!! I shared my hair journey on Instagram and this tutorial was highly requested so I hope it will help you make discoveries too. Do tag me when you try it! I'd loooove to see your results :)
And a big thank you to my dear Anna.

Thank you for watching and see you next week with a new video❤️🔥
This is probably the most practical and relatable video I’ve come across for girls with thick wavy hair - thank you!!!
As someone with wavy hair and not very defined curls, this tutorial is amazing! I have 2a type waves and i use a shampoo with sulphates then leave in conditioner and then gel. Nothing else worked better!
1:10 finally someone who has similar hair, I do have a more wavy pattern when I don’t do anything with it, but the frizz and the poof is insane!
I just found out today that my hair didn't just "lose it's wave" when I grew older, I just wasn't taught how to take care of it properly. Absolutely OBSESSED with getting my waves back now xD
Finally found someone with a similar hair texture as me!! I’ve tried different methods but never really got the outcome I wanted. I’m excited to try a routine from someone with thick long wavy hair like me!
Thank you SO MUCH for making this video! My algorithm has only recommend super curly, blonde, or Asian or African-American black hair videos. The tips would be “helpful,” but I hadn’t found anyone with hair closely similar to my brown hair. This video was suuuuper helpful! I’m excited to take these steps and see what happens😊
Finally one that makes so much more sense 😭
My hair always dries straight but I've known it has a wave pattern when it's wet, but I've only just recently been tryna figure out how to bring that curl pattern out
Absolutely loving all the neck stretching!! So important! 🤩
I came across you video through a post on Quora. I had no idea that my hair was wavy. Thank you so much for this information! I always wondered why my hair was so dry and frizzy!
I was taught the same thing growing up, shampoo/conditioner and than towel dry roughly like you said - frizzy and floofy hair. Had no idea I had wavy, slightly curly hair until I went had my hair professional done a few weeks ago.
my hair is curly (2c-3a), not wavy, so i'm not 100 percent sure this would work for you, but i have been doing the curly girl method for years now, and i know it's important for me to scrunch my hair again when it's a bit dryer if i want my curls to be tight. i don't plop (as i find that when i plop i don't get a gel cast, which also contributes to my curl tightness), but i always scrunch my hair one last time about 15 minutes into air-drying. my suggestion for you would be to try to reduce the plopping time to maybe 10 minutes so that's it's still a bit wetter then, and then give it a good last scrunch. you already have beautiful hair nevertheless, and welcome to the textured hair community :)
Wavy!
Hey there. 2b 2c is wavy. Did you mean to say 3b-3c? The 2s are wavy, the 3s are curly, and the 4s are coily.
@@theOGLC gosh you’re right, i hadn’t looked at the chart for quite some time. I’m like 2c/3a actually, now that i look at it again. sorry for the confusion, and thanks for pointing that out.
I fixed it
hey is leave in conditioner optional?
this is THE Best wavy hair tutorial ever
My hair looks just like yours! So hard to find videos similar hair to mine. Been trying the CGM and seen a huge difference already!
your hair is so PRETTY!!! I cannot believe how great your curls turned out 😍😍😍
Wait wait wait, so in the end you let it air dry? No gentle diffusing with a hair dryer?
Thanks for the tutorial, I can't wait to try it! 🤗
Finally a TH-camr with the same hair type as me
I love the way you explained and i will be using the next time i wash my hair thank you for making this so simple to understand ❤
Finally a normal and relatable video !
I have a super long hair down to my legs as a 5’6 girl. I recently just found out what my natural hair is really like. And scrunching is hard as my hair is longer, it also means that it will take me ages in the shower xD. So I just plop longer 😆
As a boy who has naturally curly hair, this was still (somehow) an interesting watch...! 😂😄👍
Thanks for the tutorial, love your approach to and perspective on modern beauty standards! I'm new to the waves community, how do you treat your hair on non-wash days?
this is such a helpful post, I just wanted to ask do i have to use washing conditioner before leave in conditioner?
omg it really suits you! definitely think that my hair has some sort of curling potential so i will try this method, thank you for sharing
Hey I'm still kind of new to the curly girl method and I have some questions for you. How often do you wash your hair? Do you refresh your waves throughout the week? And do you have a favorite leave in conditioner? Thank you ❤️ This video has been super helpful
You should wash your hair as often as you feel like. You can wash them everyday if you feel like you should. The best thing to do is to have a container, jar or something, put some shampoo in it, add water and shake it till it bubble. Wash just scalp, then the rest of it will eventually get into rest of your hair. As conditioner you should look for emollient conditioner (oils, waxes, silicones, mineral oils, lanolin). This will protect your hair from moisture loss etc.. Just watch your hair, how they react. Note: if your hair are damaged look for glycerine, aloe, honey, sugar, urea (basically humectants) and proteins (keratin, milk, silk, wheat, collagen, elastin).
@@parevi1269 hi! I think my hair's like 2Aish? How often should I comb it?
@@nini-qc1qd when you are inside as often as you feel like (3-5 hours, it depends on condition of your hair, air moisture etc.), when you are outside especially when it's windy or rainy the best thing to do is tie your hair. If you want define your waves don't brush it when dry.
@@parevi1269 oh my god you're a gem!!! The thing is that my hair sometimes looks kinda straight, but after washing, if I don't comb it, it has loose curls...so it must be kinda curly? I'm spiralling here man ngl. Is there anyway I could know the type of hair I have? I think it's somewhere between 2A and 2B but I'm not sure. Again, thank you a lot!!
@@nini-qc1qdHey ik I'm here after an year... But i recently found out about cgm and my hair is 2A-ish.... Since you have the same type...can you lemme know how you have been managing ur hair?
Love this routine! How do you protect your waves overnight?
Silk pillow case
This helped so much my only issue is sleeping my hair gets all tangled and messy! Does any one have suggestions for anything that could help? ❤
Get a silk/satin cap or just a scarf
I love how seriously u take this!😂❤
Amazing stuff, will try
1:28 me watching this video after i just did that still with a towel on my head
how much hours does your hair usually dry? Mine will take hours with air drying so I diffuse my hair instead. I loved your video!
Very very helpful. So less products
thank you sm dinara! watching your videos make my day so much better
Thank you! I’m so excited to try this!
Thank you so much for this! I'm going to give it all a try :)
I love that you only used like two products!
I’m pretty sure I have wavy hair and I’m going to try this tomorrow. I just have to go buy gel. I’ll update you when I have done it!
Editt: Tried it today. My hair is def wavy but since I don’t have gel the waves aren’t very defined anymore but my hair was really wavy/curly when it was wet. So now I need to just get gel.
This was amazing 🦋 thankyou di gonna surely try this out
:o YOUR HAIR IS GORGEOUS
Someone with my similar hair type!
This is a really great video thank you 😊
So you use hair dry or let your hair air dry? It would take ages for me to get dry without heat 😢
I feel that slavic women curl their hair for special events, because it is natural to our genetics, Slavic women ussually have wavy hair but with todays products we are ruining it. Btw I am here because I realized that my hair are textured after wash And I dry and brush the shit out of it 🤣so I am here to learn the proper way to take care of it 🤣
Is there a good shampoo to wavy hair?
How do you sleep with your hair to keep your curls intact? Do you tie it up or wrap it?
Okay so I know this is an older video, but I just found this and I have a question :) I usually wash my hair a night, and I don't have time for this in the morning before school, so could I do this at night and then make sure they stay in overnight? If so, how? I hope you'll respond! :)
Get a satin bonnet & pillow case
what shampoo and conditioner do you use for your hair?
Amazing! Thank you. I’m going to try this.
How do you sleep with this? I usually shower in the evening and can’t figure out how to sleep with it! Thanks.
My hair type is 1c-2a. I'm still not sure whether it's wavy or straight because when my hair is wet, it's straight but at the middle section where I tie my hair with scrunchie, it just takes the mark of scrunchies. Like after opening my hair there's a mark of scrunchie. Some thing like a fold. So can anyone help me with this issue???
I'm Dinary though .i have wavy hair as well😮
I can’t find the hair gel. The one that I think you have says wet affect? Can you possible tell me the exact one?
So Step 10 after untaking the shirt is letting it air-dry, right? I'm right there now😂
What is a good gel I can use on my hair that is cheap
She uses the Estel Hair Styling Gel Strong Hold AIREX. But if that's too expensive for you, lmk and I can give you some recommendations to try
I've heard that Aussie Instant Freeze is a great one. I haven't tried it yet, but will. :)
My big problem is how to keep these curls, like to sleep with , I have wavy hair and I follow the same exact process and it looks pretty good but when I sleep my curls fall off 😭😭😭😭😭 how can I fix this freaking problem
I think you should use a bonnet or sleep on satin pillow case. Or put a loose braid
How do u dry it ?
Now I need a leave for n conditioner and hair gel????? My wallet 😬😬...
mwa
Wen paint hair and stuf is chemic is same as in permanent! That is why wen you qwueeze you hair it get little curly! Is not natural curl
But why do all this when you could have just used a curling iron in less time or have done heatless curls in less time?
Because it damages your hair overtime
it‘s also nice to embrace your natural hair
@@ES-sv1gu but it’s not really natural when you have to do all those steps. That’s still the same concept as doing heatless curls only takes way longer
@@melissawaggoner7509 It actually is - have you ever looked how much work people with super curly hair have to put into their curls? You cannot really treat wavy/curly hair the same way as straight hair and expect it to look nice. This method with scrunching etc is also used by people with extreme curls. Also hair is not just straight or curly, it‘s a whole spectrum with a lot inbetween. „Real“ straight hair (1a) is pin-straight without the need for any effort like heat. However there are many people with „straight“ hair that will complain that their hair is frizzy/bushy and gets a lot of volume and is wavy or out of control as soon as it‘s raining for example - these are the poeple that actually do have soft waves (1c, 2a, 2b). If you google „wavy/curly girl method“ you will find tons of people sharing the stories of finding very late out that their hair is actually wavy/curly - it‘s quite a big thing actually. Also it‘s a process - if someone straightened the hair for 20 years, the hair will need time to go back to the wavy/curly pattern, so usually the waves/curls improve a lot within 6-12 months.
@@ES-sv1gu ok well I just mean don’t do all that work? If you really wanted to be natural then just leave it alone and then that’s the hair you have. Doing all that stuff is still styling it so it really doesn’t matter. If you just wash and condition it then that’s the hair you have. Whatever it looks like. Anything else after is styling.
u have wavy hair 2c not curly hair
She never claimed to have curly hair...?
@@claripossum2079 And waves are a type of curl just a looser curl. So even if she did she wouldn't be wrong
Waves are a curls type
the curl police is at it again
@@nyx348 im not a curl police lmao im just stating whats true
I found this product called the hair drying headband that really works well on wavy hair. It is by dryhairday. It eliminates frizz beautifully!
YOU ARE MY HERO 🫶
I know for approx. 3 years now that I have wavy hair and was trying (and giving up) so many times since then to deal with them. Most of the time I gave up and went back to blow drying them straight, as I could not figure out how to make them look nice. I just followed your routine and omg they turned out freaking amazing, my hair never looked so good! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! 🫶
