I have watched quite a lot of videos arguing back and forth on the perfect routine, the do's and don'ts, and hundreds of different products. I honestly just picked up leave in conditioners and oil and then gave up because it was overwhelming. I saw your video randomly and it was so refreshing. I appreciate your approach, your step by step results, and your final words of advice/encouragement. You've encouraged me to try again. Thank you :)
Hi @dancer48id same for me. I have also found another channel that has been instrumental in my learning journey, Swavy Curly Courtney. It's great learning from these ladies that have experience!
I’m Vietnamese and have always had straight, frizzy, dry hair that was never straight. I think my hair is similar to yours (definitely not curly but has some wave to it). I’d love to hear an update on your hair journey, products you like, and your newest method!!! I did my first “curly girl method” hair wash and results were ehhh. But I’d like to continue on.
A perfect routine doesn't exist that's why. Hair care is so unique to each person. It all depends on your hair texture, how much hair you have, the result you're looking for and how much time you want/don't want to invest in hair care/styling. People with similar hair texture to you can offer helpful tips, but ultimately it's a lot of trial and error. This was a good video though.
Your hair has highs and lows naturally and it'll lighten a bit by itself as you spend more time in the sun. Don't color it! Leave that for when you start getting a lot of white hair and you have to decide whether you're going to embrace it or disguise it. The wave in my 2C hair took about 6 months to develop "memory". My hair is high-porosity and fine. For me, light conditioners, no creams, and hard hold gel is what works best. It takes a while to "learn" you own hair! You're doing a great job so far. Keep at it.
Thank you! You're right, it definitely gets lighter in the summer. It's actually my white hairs that always make me want to dye it! For now I just pluck the visible ones 😅. I'm really looking forward to seeing if my waves develop more with consistency and time 🤞
Out of all videos I've watched this is the one that makes the most sense. Half of my hair gets wavy and another half barely holds anything no matter what and usually just straightens up really fast. But people keep telling me that my hair is curly 🤦♀So as you said "the question is, do you actually have enough wave to wear it wavy?'. Tho I do have some waviness, I'm not sure if it's enough to even try wearing it wavy. But then it's never completely straight either... Hell of a situation Great and very refreshing video, thanks a lot! :)
Same here. Had curly hair as a child and it used to be really wavy, curly even when I had a long bob (my shorter face framing bits still are) but I've been growing it out past my chest and just wearing it straight/blown out bc it's not wavy enough anymore. But what I love about it is it's so versatile. It holds heatless curls/blowouts so well, usually lasts until I wash it again. With a bit of work you can definitely make it look more wavy. And it's also easily straightened without much heat. As annoying as it can be, it does have its perks!
hi @evitah6153 ! it sounds like we have similar hair......le sigh. Anyway, my question is, what products do you use (and that you like enough to go back to)? The only product I've ever found that I have liked enough to use loyally is JVN's Air Dry Cream.
I have identical hair and have been cgm for a few years now. Check out Kinky Curly, great for low porosity, coarse hair. I love Biolage HydraSource Conditioning Balm for low porosity hair. I clarify all the time, and also use Malibu C Undoo Goo, which removes hard water buildup. The Briogio gel is by far the best, but absolutely clarify afterwards as it contains protein which is no no for our hair type. Try plop diffusing where you rest your hair on top of a counter or hamper, on a damp towel, and hover diffuse (to defy gravity). Follow that with pixie diffusing on the ends. You can see Gena Marie do this process. Also tidy up the pattern by twirling around your finger so it curls in the correct direction. Add hairspray to keep the hold overnight.
Had a realization after watching this video and washing my hair that scrunching really is a curly hair thing to do. For wavy hair we should be coiling. Wavy hair has a rope like quality in that it naturally wants to twist in to a round shape when you coil it. Instead of scrunching grab a section by about ear height (the more sections the less uniform and "beachier" the result will be) and twist the hair up in to a loop. Your hair will tell you what direction it wants to coil up in and in how big of a loop. When its all wrapped up between your palms press it gently and voila! That gorgeous "s-curve" is revealed Your hair looks so gorgeous btw, it makes me so excited to be starting my wavy hair journey:) thanks for the amazing deep dive!
Ok so i always thought i had straight frizzy hair but watching all these videos got me thinking that it might actually be type 2A waves 😅 I almost always airdry my hair...so when exactly should i do the coiling - while in the shower, just afterwards, after hair is halfway dry or after it's fully dry??? And should wavy hair be combed while wet or after it dries??
I'm so glad the algorithm recommended this! I'm trying to bring out my waves after yearsss of straightening. I have the same issues and a similar wave pattern as you. I'm gonna try some of the stuff you suggested but I think I definitely need a haircut! Mine is down to my low back and it's a straight cut across. Also, I would say keep your color! I have black hair too and we don't notice how much depth it naturally has in the sun ❤
Yes, definitely get a haircut as your waves are being weighed down! It's true, in the sun I see so much depth to my natural colour - it's just when I see my white hairs that I want to lighten it 😅 Good luck with your wavy journey 💗
I love the format of this video. I’m convinced. I have never used hair product in my LIFE. I’m almost 30 years old and it’s pretty wild to discover I have wavy hair instead of straight hair with krimps 😅
I will say, I have 2A waves and whether I am consistently keeping up with a wavy girl method never really matters. I have noticed no difference cutting out heat styling completely. Each day is unique and you’re not gonna get more or less waves because you did or didn’t do it the day before. If you have wavy hair, it will come back everyday with the right conditions. Don’t stress about that part
This. You can style your hair with any products you want as long as they work for you. Ditch the “ non sulfates/non silicones” nonsense - the best results I get with the products which have both. I blow dry my hair and then style curly when I feel like it. Point is to make your hair healthy, not use these or that products. I have tried CGM since 2020 ( ditched strict one in 2 months) and I have also switched back to drugstore and salon products which have nothing to do with what people in curly world recommend. I my hair and my wavocurls ( I have 2b/c-3a types) have never been better. Diffusing is needed when I style curly and styling upside down vs upright might change the outcome, not the products.
I’m Chinese and I discovered last year that I have wavy hair, that looks and seems to act basically the same as your hair. I’ve also come to many of the same conclusions you have along your journey, so I’m really excited to see such an amazing deep dive! I truly thought I had the “typical” straight Asian hair and wondered why it would never behave. Ironically I’ve always wanted waves, ever since I was a child, and did go through with perming my hair in high school into waves that basically looked like my current natural waves with styled product 😂
I always thought my straight hair was misbehaving. Why was it always FRIZZY!! It was a friend who told me I had nice waves one day.. all I did was nothing. I did have my hair in a shirt, but i always do that when I take a shower at night . my hair dries quick and my hair comes out wavy.. but I just never thought it was because it was because my hair was 2a wavy. My hair is also like that if I go a few days without washing.. but girls with straight hair are supposed to wash everyday, right? lol. Now I know better
Hiii, I'm in China right now, may I know what hair products you recommend to buy? I'm not to familiar with the brands here, and I'm just a 大学生 so I don't really have the access to buy expensive products that are more well known worldwide 😅
@@aprilsaccountabilityaccoun2889 no, girls with straight hair are not supposed to wash every day, unless they have very oily scalp. One washes their head according to their scalp, not their hair.
OMG so happy I stumbled across your video! So many of these videos are for people with much wavier / curlier hair than mine. This was helpful and encouraging, loved the style of this video too. Thank you for your dedication to creating it and sharing it!
I 100% agree that what works for one person doesn't work for another. I break the rules all of the time and love the outcome. However, something I have found that might be universal is the game-changing effect of a diffuser. Water weighs down our waves so if your goal is more bounce and definition, highly recommend a diffuser. One more thing to mention since you are newer to this, don't be surprised if your styling routine needs to change from season to season. Without fail, my hair is less wavy when the weather gets colder because the heat coming on in the house dries out the air too much. Each fall I worry that I am losing my waves and then remember it's just the lack of humidity.
Your hair looks so beautiful, like that elusive soft wave that’s so hard to get even with a curling iron! I also have hair that appears mostly straight with a couple kinks in it. I’m going to try a similar routine and see what happens! Thank you for sharing your journey ❤
I would love to see an update including your refresh process to minimize frizz and renew the waves and how you wear your hair to sleep at night! My hair is exactly the same texture as yours and I struggle with this!! ❤
I just love this video for a lot of reasons. It's so refreshing and discusses the actual problems a beginner might face instead of just recommending products and giving a rulebook to follow!!
Thanks a lot for the video. Literally a lifesaver. I have thick natural wavy hair and I've been trying to figure out the way to style it using the curly girl method but the curls didn't want to stick. The curly-girl method suggests deep moisturizing which weighed my hair down and straightened my natural waves. Light moisturizing and gel were the key
My hair is EXACTLY that beachy mermaid thing and is so easy and fast no plop no gel no scrunch I PROMISE: 1. Wash hair like usual 2. Part hair ur usual way (I section mine down the centre) and distribute leave in conditioner (I use ouai) in hair 3. This is the secret sauce! I use prayer hands to apply curl cream (I use mise en scene curling essence) and then I gather the LEFT half of my hair and wind it around my RIGHT index finger (the way u would with a curling wand) in the direction of my natural wave pattern. It’s a bit of a handful but I just about manage. 4. then grab the whole chunk with my LEFT fist and squeeze + hold for a few seconds, then gently release. 4. Repeat for other half of hair 5. Air dry. Do not touch! Less frizz. Whole styling process takes like 40 seconds. Full disclosure: I have 2b/c hair and I prefer waiting to air dry rather than get heat damage from faster styling. Also the curling cream was the game changer for me, when I added it my waves got more defined and wavier
dont worry about the cgm, many people use it to start their journey but most will deviate, even curlier girls lol. and make sure to clarify every once in a while, the product build up can eventually weigh down the waves and make it harder to keep hydrated ❤️
Thank you for such a thorough and realistic assessment of managing 2a wavy hair! I’m glad I stumbled on your video by searching 2a hair. Hope lots of other people learn stuff like me.
I have 2B/2C hair and use the sixth wash technique minus the diffuser (they’re really expensive to buy from where I live) there is definitely a difference! It’s so good to see you experimenting!! (I use less gel because gel leave my hair crunchy)
This is the best video about wavy hair that I have watched! My hair is exactly like yours except it’s about 4 inches shorter so I’m dealing with the “bell” look LOL going to get a hair cut this week!
I have wavy hair too. The right side curls in and the left side curls out. Some days it’s more wavy borderline coils. But the middle back of my head is also the least wavy part. However, the hairs towards my nape in the inner layers is the curliest. Wavy hair is definitely so random
Noooo!!!! Don't add oil to dry hair!!!😂❤❤❤ Seriously with all due respect, you are defeating all the effort you just spent on it if you put oil on dry hair! It needs to go on wet hair only! I am a dog groomer( 30 years) with long curly hair ( 2c, I think), and I've worked on lots of different kinds of hair- trust me, the oil goes on wet hair! I used to groom a pair of yorkies for a hairdresser who brought a bottle of Biosilk to put on their hair after the groom. I didn't know any better back then, and put it on after it was dry, and it always looked greasy. Some years later, another groomer told me to use it while it was wet- WOW! TOTALLY different result! It's now my "secret weapon" at work!❤ I use it on my hair AND the dogs hair at work, always when wet- it protects the hair and makes it soft- which means you do it BEFORE the gel or mousse!😊 When I need extra moisture, I use Biosilk, 2-3 times a month and most other days, I use the Aussie brand of oil. Let me make another suggestion to you- I also like Aussie products, but instead of the regular gel, I use the spray gel- I get a much better result, none of that crunchy "cast" that everyone is always trying to break up, lol, and you won't need to use your oil on top😊 Also, you need to difuse your hair COMPLETELY dry, you are making a lot of extra time consuming steps for yourself that are actually inhibiting the results you want❤ So try this- wash your hair, use a really good conditioner, use a PICK, not a brush, to detangle your wet hair, a dime sized plop of oil( smear both hands together and drag it through the bottom 2/3 of your hair and srcunch a couple times, then a couple spritzes of leave in conditioner ( I like 10 Minute Miracle, but there are a lot of good ones), scrunch that in a couple times, and then a few sprays of gel or some mousse( I like Shea Moisture- that one MAKES my hair curl!) - sometimes I will use a few pumps of the mousse and then spritz with the gel, too, if I really need some hold. Scrunch your hair a few times with whatever you use for a towel, and wrap it up. Then do your makeup or make your coffee, or whatever for 10 or 15 minutes to let some of the moisture soak out, then difuse till dry. As you're difussing, if you have areas that get a little frizzy, hit them with a couple pumps from the spray gel and lightly smooth it over and scrunch at the bottom, it will fix it right up! I have a lot more hair than you do and it only takes me 15-20 minutes to dry and style mine this way, so you won't have to spend hours on your hair, like you said in the video 😊❤ To refresh on a non wash day, gently detangle the roots at your nape, add some mousse/gel, and difuse, or if you need to, you can obviously rewet and redo it. That will save you a lot of time, streamline the process, and you'll get maximum results with minimum effort 😊❤
I was watching, devastated with my hair looking wet from using a curl defining milk (Monea) when I reached 22:06 . Tried combing my hair and LO AND BEHOLD, MY WAVY HAIR REVEALED ITSELF AND LOOKS FABULOUS! Thank you so much for mentioning it
Omg i have the same hair type as yours and your routine and tips seem more appropriate for me. Ive been watching so many videos lately trying to find a perfect routine for me. I bought cream and mousse and tried the bowl method but my hair came out so terribly messy with so much frizz. The wavy pattern that your hair has is exactly what i want so i will definitely try your method
The best gel I have tried so far for wavy hair is the curlsmith defining souffle. Its so hydrating, and has a beautiful hold but doesn't weight the hair down so its keeps bouncy and light. Def recommend trying if you haven't yet!
I always had straight pin hair, but since almost a year, it became wavy. I tried so many routines, but discovered I have low porosity hair and loose wavy hair. Your routine is very helpful I tried it once and I see a big difference already ❤
Can you make a follow up video of your wavy hair results? I'd love to see how your hair is now! I'm also asian and just started my wavy journey! My hair is looking a lot like yours but at a shorter length
Coloring hair, requires a bleaching process which will change the structure of your hair permanently (not the new hair you continously grow of course.) So the current hair routine you have may not work for your future colored/bleached/chemically processed hair.
This video is brilliant! What a refreshing, honest and more detailed look you provide by showing your journey and explaining along the way! 🙌 Thank you! ❤
Thank god for the video. I struggle with it for so long and give up so easy. You went through all the steps and made it understandable. Love it and will follow the process ❤
your final curls look great! I've been working on my natural curls too (wavy/2a), and I think it's about time I get a curly hair haircut. THANK YOU for your insights and recommendations!
Your hair is absolutely stunning! If you were to color it you will lose some on your wave pattern and you’ve worked to hard to figure out your perfect routine! It will naturally lighten in the sun and you honestly have dimension because it’s all virgin hair and so healthy leaving a high shine to the strands! ❤
I used to have straight Asian hair that wouldn't hold a curl and I did digital perms for years but then my hair in my mid 30s started growing out wavy when I stopped perming for 2 years. This inspired me to try out wavy routines to figure out my new hair. While I did figure out a decent routine, it honestly just takes so long still and it never looks the same. My waves are nice on one side but straighter on the other which I find annoying. I sleep on my back but my hair is usually pulled to one side which has trained the hair to be straighter on that side. I've tried countering this to bring the curl back but I think that might take too much time. I love the wavy result sometimes but I don't know if all this effort is worth it. I'm actually looking into a thermal brush to style next so I can just style it in the morning.
I’m so happy this video came up in my feed! My hair is so weird. I’ve always had what we call “self-fall” in my language, it twists at the ends and looks a bit hippie-ish 😂 but it turns out with certain shampoo and conditioners I can get pretty damn good waves if I scrunch it after washing. However, if I use sulfate and silicone free stuff it looks like shit 😅
I'm also experimenting with bringing silicone and sulphates back into my routine! I think it might be better for my waves than without. The experimentation continues!
As someone who is also on her wave hair journey, this video helped a lot! I have dyed my hair so many times and my natural hair is finally coming back, it does take a long time for your hair to get its natural shape back though
Hi Julia, Thanks for sharing your routine on the channel! I would be against changing hair color if you still want the low maintenance routine and if you want to maintain your natural shiny hair. Low porosity = healthy and depending on how light you want your color to be that might take you to the porous (damaged) type of cuticles. Then you might need to change hair products to suit your new hair needs and reconsider your budget for maintaining the new color. I'm not a stylist or an expert on hair, I just have the same hair goals and the same haircut as you do. It might be boring to some but I prefer not setting up hair appointments too often and having brown healthy hair.
Thanks for your take on the colour! What always turns me off is the cost of maintaining it, and you're right, it'd be a whole process to find new products to work with coloured/damaged hair 🫠. Some may think brown is boring but it's beautiful! Just need accept my white hairs 🤍
Thankyou this was very informational and helpful for my wavy hair. Which is almost straight-ish in the front and wavy in the back. I couldn't find sucha good video for wavy hair gurls. Your hair looks lovely ❤
From all the Curly Girl Method videos I have watched, your hair is the most identical to mine. This is an enjoyable mini science project. Thank you for taking the time to explain it so logically. Do you need hair protection when you sleep? How long do your waves last with/without protection? And can you suggest other ways to wear the waves other than letting it down?
Since I have soft waves I don't really bother with hair protection. Eventually I'll get a silk pillowcase, but it's much easier for me to do a quick refresh routine the next day than be uncomfortable sleeping with my hair wrapped up. I recently made a refresh routine vid on my IG: @mejulialee that you can check out! I've been enjoying wearing my hair out and natural, but if I try some other hairstyles I'll share them in a video 🙂
I'm SO glad I found this 💗💗 Just started on my own curly /wavy hair journey and tried the cgm for the second time today ! The first time I literally combed through my hair cause I didn't know you weren't supposed to dry comb/brush your hair 😭. And today was the second wash and I realise I destroyed my curls by combing through it with my fingers cause I though that's how you scrunch out the gel cast , I also realised just how much I just keep touching my hair and just need to stop lol ! And also needed more leave in product. Your video is so authentic and is making me relax a bit more and trust the process too ! Your waves look super gorgeous ! 💗
I have always been known for my pin straight hair (I was asked why I would, as a guy, straighten my hair all the time when I was purposefully wearing it in a bun to create a wave and I tried the CGM way back when I was the new trendy thing to do and my hair turned out more straight than before) and yet after putting some salt water on my hair yesterday I realized the the wierd clumps on hair above my ears turned into the cutest little 70s ringlet ever and my problem frizzy area behind my ears clumped into a perfect wave whilst the reststayed true to itself and remained pin straight. So I'm now convinced that my hair gets almost curly the finer it gets, and more straight the thicker it is. I have now washed, conditioned, combed and plopped and finger coiled/rolled my problem area without any product and let it air dry, I think I'll get to a 2a texture at the back. Once I buy some curling gel/cream/mousse (I won't go overboard with products yet) i'll try a curly/wavy routine on my entire head, see what happens to it. I might end up combing this part instead of brushing like the rest, I'm not particularly interested in having particularly defined hair there, when I curl my hair I do brush outs anyway, I just want to get rid of the clumpiness and mostly the rough delicate frizziness of the area
I had pin straight hair until age 38. My texture became thick and wavy but idk what to do with it. Mine is like party on the bottom (I have very long hair) and flat and oily on the roots. The best way I can describe it is someone with small waves with hat hair. I have very oily hair but also love in the devils butt heat and my stylist has told me not to wash everyday- it’s not going well lol 😂
Your hair looks gorgeous! I could clearly see the progress. I bet it will get more wavy because I started last year in June and as the months go you see the progress. And my hair was extremely damaged. So I’m pretty sure you are going to get more and more texture. About the color, since you asked, I’d say, girl your hair color is beautiful. I myself would not do anything but if you get highlights maybe the one with no bleach would look beautiful too.
Great, very informative video! Have you ever wanted to try any styling tools to help coax out the waves, like a Bounce Curl Defining or Volume brush? Or a Denman brush?
It’s interesting because her hair started about where my hair was before I started doing hair care and she ended up with way more waves than I have now so I am excited to see where I go.
My hair has this lovely subtle wave like this. Completely dissappears when I brush it, and wide-tooth combing it isn't feasible for putting in a ponytail quickly. Makes me sad sometimes...
I was born with dead straight hair , and then after I had my daughter my hair turned wavy and slowly and gradually they just became super curly and then how I do it , is I brush before I wash and sometimes I forget and then brush after I wash then apply mouse if I need them to behave if not then I just let it air dry and crunch my hair from the ends then after it dries i use aragan oil so it's not frizzy. My low cost method helps my hair behave. But also over past few years because I don't use alot of heat my hair texture has thickened , it's more healthier.
If you color your hair it can seriously change your curl pattern. It made mine less wavy. Plus I have to deal with the colored part being more dry so needs different products so always trying to find products that work. Colored part needs different products than roots.
very informative video literally thanku it helps me alot , just one thing what kinda haircut you got ? And i must say that the haircut makes your hair look 100times better and it suits you very nicely :))
if you lighten your hair i would recommend doing a highlight cap, and only going halfway up the strands that you pull through. so you can get a gentle balayage, and show off some warmer brown tones, without getting streaky stripes towards your roots.
Hi mam appreciate ur efforts but i want to ask u how a man with same 2a to 2b low porosity short hair can do same method to rejenevate his wavy hair.I had always done my hair with a blow dryer to keep it straight but now i want my natural hair texture back and i start researching about it from past few weeks how to get it but find nothing then i came across ur video and thought i found something but the only problem is i have short hair probably like 3-4 inchs on the tops and doesnt know how to do it can u help me with that
The thing about the hair not being symmetrical is very obvious with me, because my hair literally curls to the right. My entire head. So my right side looks great because it's curling away from my face and looks like I put in effort to curl my hair, but my left side is also curling towards to right, which I try to scrunch/plop in the "opposite" direction of it's natural direction, so it always looks kinda flat. I just push all my hair to one side now when I'm out cos I can't deal with this LOL I also previously used the mark anthony curl lotion or something and it did absolutely nothing for my hair.
The layers really lift your hair to give a nice natural look. How are you maintaining it in between washes, do you wash it often? Mine is hip length type 2a hair. Rather than use a lot of products, I just braid slightly damp hair for beach waves. I won’t get mine layered as due to its length I wear protective styles (buns) and retentive styles (braids).
I wash every 2-3 days and don't do anything to maintain it. My waves are subtle so they aren't that precious to me. I refresh with mostly water and sometimes a bit of mousse and gel!
Love the wash updates! Your waves are very pretty! Did you decide if you will color your hair? Will you have to switch to a high porosity shampoo if you do?
I'm much wavier than you (2c-3a), and I can't use sulphate/silicone free shampoo. It makes my hair stringy and I find it unsustainable, lots of buildup that requires clarifying all the time. Thought I'd share my experience!
I don't currently do anything, and the most I would do is get a silk pillowcase. My waves are subtle so they aren't so precious - it's easier for me to just refresh the next day. I'll be sharing my wash day and refresh routine soon!
So does your hair stay curly after you train it to be curly? I’m now just discovering about this process. I have VERY straight hair and i don’t like to spend too much time doing my hair daily, jf if I do this, will my hair stay curly like yours at the end of the video? If so how long does it stay like that without keep having to upkeep
You can't "train" your hair. It's impossible to train hair. Your hair does what it wants unless something else makes it perform differently. So if one has wavy hair, it's always wavy. Repeated disruption of a curl pattern doesn't destroy it, either. What we do when we blow our hair out is different than what we do when we encourage the waves. We add more product or different product, we diffuse instead of direct heat with a brush. Doing this repeatedly over time, say if we're encouraging our natural hair pattern, we would cause less heat damage because of those factors, if that makes sense. I've blown my hair out straight for decades, and in that time th front of my hair has yet to "learn" to stay off my face, no matter what I do. But if I let it go curly, it miraculously stays off my face. Why? Because it's doing what makes it happy, which is wavy curly. Even loaded with products, it never falls into my face. If your curls and waves aren't behaving right away, but a month or two jnto your curl journey it suddenly looks "better" it's not because you've trained them, it's because you're likely hydrating a lot of damage (though in truth only a cut removes damage and nothing "heals" it). Hair is like kids--its happier when it gets to do what it wants to do. Cuts don't encourage curl patterns either, it simply shortens the strands and changes the overall look and shape of our style when it's done. So if you don't typically wear layers, adding layers wonr make your curls tighter, it just makes then shorter strands. I hate CGM, especially when it helped create this superiority complex in their devotees that wavys aren't curlies. Everyone has different curl patterns, but it's all curls. Use what works for you. It's trial and error, but you'll find it. If your curls fall flat at the end of the day, try a firmer gel. If your hair feels crispy, try adding a curl cream. Youl figure it out.
So glad it was helpful and that you decided to give it another shot! Good luck and hope it works out for you 🤞💗
Hi @dancer48id same for me.
Hell of a situation
Great and very refreshing video, thanks a lot! :)
I hear you. A lot of wavy hair is work to wear it straight and work to define the waves.
hi @evitah6153 ! it sounds like we have similar hair......le sigh. Anyway, my question is, what products do you use (and that you like enough to go back to)? The only product I've ever found that I have liked enough to use loyally is JVN's Air Dry Cream.
@@Sars1-k6f how do you feel it compares to Verb's Ghost Air Dry Whip?
@@NubesyxochisI’ve never tried it but I am way intrigued now. Are you happy with it?
Also, check out the Science-y Hair blog for info on coarse, low porosity hair.
Thanks so much for the tips, resources and product recommendations. Will definitely check them out, appreciate it! 💗
That gorgeous "s-curve" is revealed
Your hair looks so gorgeous btw, it makes me so excited to be starting my wavy hair journey:) thanks for the amazing deep dive!
Ok so i always thought i had straight frizzy hair but watching all these videos got me thinking that it might actually be type 2A waves 😅
I almost always airdry my hair...so when exactly should i do the coiling - while in the shower, just afterwards, after hair is halfway dry or after it's fully dry???
And should wavy hair be combed while wet or after it dries??
@@minervarose7664style your hair when it's wet
I'm so glad the algorithm recommended this! I'm trying to bring out my waves after yearsss of straightening. I have the same issues and a similar wave pattern as you. I'm gonna try some of the stuff you suggested but I think I definitely need a haircut! Mine is down to my low back and it's a straight cut across. Also, I would say keep your color! I have black hair too and we don't notice how much depth it naturally has in the sun ❤
Yes, definitely get a haircut as your waves are being weighed down! It's true, in the sun I see so much depth to my natural colour - it's just when I see my white hairs that I want to lighten it 😅
Good luck with your wavy journey 💗
@@mejulialee lol I feel you! I turned 31 and I swear I woke up with 10 white hairs that day 😂
I love the format of this video. I’m convinced. I have never used hair product in my LIFE. I’m almost 30 years old and it’s pretty wild to discover I have wavy hair instead of straight hair with krimps 😅
Discovering you have wavy hair is one of the best feelings ☺️💖
I felt the same when I was looking up videos, no one had my hair type! So glad it encouraged you 💗
I 100% agree that what works for one person doesn't work for another.
Thanks for the tips! I did read about needing to change your routine season by season. I have a lot of experimenting to do 😅
Your hair looks so beautiful, like that elusive soft wave that’s so hard to get even with a curling iron!
i love how in depth your videos are. you go into a lot of detail and it's super helpful! i am also in my curly girl hair process 😊
So glad it's helpful! And yay, love that for you! 🤩
My hair is EXACTLY that beachy mermaid thing and is so easy and fast no plop no gel no scrunch I PROMISE:
1. Wash hair like usual
2. Part hair ur usual way (I section mine down the centre) and distribute leave in conditioner (I use ouai) in hair
4. Repeat for other half of hair
5. Air dry. Do not touch! Less frizz.
Whole styling process takes like 40 seconds. Full disclosure: I have 2b/c hair and I prefer waiting to air dry rather than get heat damage from faster styling. Also the curling cream was the game changer for me, when I added it my waves got more defined and wavier
hi do u use the purple or pink mise en scene cream?
@@thegr8khalyd810 I used pink, but when I finished the tube decided to try purple for fun and it works too!

dont worry about the cgm, many people use it to start their journey but most will deviate, even curlier girls lol. and make sure to clarify every once in a while, the product build up can eventually weigh down the waves and make it harder to keep hydrated ❤️
Your hair looks amazing! Thank you so much for sharing your experience, I really needed to watch this to help on my journey 🥹
I just recently started a wavy hair routine and watching your video has been super encouraging. Thank you for sharing your journey!!
I have wavy hair too. The right side curls in and the left side curls out. Some days it’s more wavy borderline coils. But the middle back of my head is also the least wavy part. However, the hairs towards my nape in the inner layers is the curliest. Wavy hair is definitely so random
I have watched a gazillion videos on this topic, yours is def the best. I love that you showed different approaches! Keep it up girl
That will save you a lot of time, streamline the process, and you'll get maximum results with minimum effort 😊❤
which shea moisture products do you recommend?
Thank you for the tips! I used Morrocanoil on wet today and it definitely dried less frizzy 🙏💗
This is my first video of yours and at 0:03 NEW YORK MINUTE, SIS! 👏 THE GOAT 👏
So glad to hear! 💖
Your hair looks so pretty!
Thanks for making a video for people with wavy hair! Best of luck to your channel
You're a saviour. Finally a video worth watching 😭❤

your final curls look great! I've been working on my natural curls too (wavy/2a), and I think it's about time I get a curly hair haircut. THANK YOU for your insights and recommendations!
Your commonsense wisdom is so refreshing
My hair's natural state looks almost identical to your second wash, so I am really feeling hopeful this will work for me!

Thank you for uploading this! I'm a 2A wavy as well and I've found a plant based gels without synthetic polymers suit me the most.
Thank you!!! You have my hair texture and I really appreciate your methods I'm going to try something similar!
loving the wave journey for you 💕
Thanks so much Arshveer 🥰🙏
I’m so happy this video came up in my feed! My hair is so weird. I’ve always had what we call “self-fall” in my language, it twists at the ends and looks a bit hippie-ish 😂 but it turns out with certain shampoo and conditioners I can get pretty damn good waves if I scrunch it after washing. However, if I use sulfate and silicone free stuff it looks like shit 😅
I'm also experimenting with bringing silicone and sulphates back into my routine! I think it might be better for my waves than without. The experimentation continues!
absolutely love this video as a fellow struggling wavy hair girly 🖤 regarding colouring, I think you should do it. I'm sure it'll be great!
Your waves are beautiful!
Thank you! 💖🙏
As someone who is also on her wave hair journey, this video helped a lot!
I have dyed my hair so many times and my natural hair is finally coming back, it does take a long time for your hair to get its natural shape back though
Absolutely amazing video, extremely helpful and practical. Thank you so much!
absolutely loved this video! and can relate so much to your take away at the end... Thank you for taking us along for the ride! 😍
I really enjoyed your video! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! You are a beautiful, articulate young lady and I wish you all the best.
Thank you for the sweet message, appreciate it! 🙏💗
Thanks so much and yes trust the process! All good things take time 😌💗
so helpful!❤but can you film how you blow dry your hair? and how you sleep to maintain the waves? thank u!!
Thank you! Good to know because I do still hope it gets more wavy 🥲🤞
I am not a cat person - but I REALLY love the cardboard box towers you've made for your cat!
Cats are sweet beautiful loving majestic creatures.
I am so curious how you diffused it! I dont know what pixie diffuse means! Please do another video on that 😊
Great, very informative video!

Thank you! ☺️💗
Can you please make a video of actually using these products as mentioned in your last wash
Genius idea! ❤. Now i wanna try it because i wannted a sort of balayage into this lighhter brown as my hair grows out quote “dark” brown.
Hi mam appreciate ur efforts but i want to ask u how a man with same 2a to 2b low porosity short hair can do same method to rejenevate his wavy hair.I had always done my hair with a blow dryer to keep it straight but now i want my natural hair texture back and i start researching about it from past few weeks how to get it but find nothing then i came across ur video and thought i found something but the only problem is i have short hair probably like 3-4 inchs on the tops and doesnt know how to do it can u help me with that
Thank you for this video. I have similar hair to yours, and I guess at last I know how to deal with my hair
Who is your hair stylist? I am looking for a wavy hair stylist to get a hair cut. Thankyou for this video!!
Sydney at NV Studio in Kelowna 🙂
Your hair is beautiful!
May I know where did you get your gray tank top (boatneck)? I love it!! and your hair is amazing!!
Thank you! It's from Aritzia 🙂
Preying hands? Because we are killin it when we figure it out!
Love the wash updates! Your waves are very pretty! Did you decide if you will color your hair? Will you have to switch to a high porosity shampoo if you do?
Thank you! I decided to hold off - I value my hair health the most atm and want to see how wavy my healthy hair can get! 🤞
I can see myself pulling off these waves but my only concern is too many products make my hair feel heavy and the weather here is so hot and sticky :(
I finally found my hair type!!
I'm much wavier than you (2c-3a), and I can't use sulphate/silicone free shampoo. It makes my hair stringy and I find it unsustainable, lots of buildup that requires clarifying all the time. Thought I'd share my experience!
I think my hair is better with silicones too - still figuring it out. Thanks for sharing!
I have very similar hair to you! Thank you for this video!! Overnight, how do you keep your hair?
I don't currently do anything, and the most I would do is get a silk pillowcase. My waves are subtle so they aren't so precious - it's easier for me to just refresh the next day. I'll be sharing my wash day and refresh routine soon!
Thank you thank you thank you for this!
Hi! What gel did you use? I couldn't find it in the list of products you listed(?)
It's this one! amzn.to/3WvxOaw
