Such a good song - and no, there is nothing they can't do - but there may be a couple of things they still haven't done, not yet anyway. This is a rare live performance of 'From Dusk Till Dawn' - there have been only 3. In 2017 they played it at the Hollywood Palladium and in 2021 they played it at two of their 10 Budokan shows. It is one of only two songs ('Believing' is the other) that have only English versions. They have two songs that have both Japanese and English versions - 'The One' and 'Elevator Girl'. Although this is sung entirely in English the lyrics have never been published so the subtitles on this are a "best guess" - although I have seen a couple of better guesses. Yes that was Momoko, but she didn't have her mic yet. She got that on 2nd April 2023 when she was revealed as the third official member. From 2019 until then she was one of the three Avengers (Momoko, Riho and Kano - Momoko was the only Avenger after about March 2020).
@@Grington300 I guess I'm thinking of the vocal aspect of it specifically. It's very challenging, like singing classical/opera on top of metal. I have a strong feeling Su would nail it like she always does, and she might get even more respect for doing it.
Awesome! This is an underrated, but absolutely stunning performance and song! This is Momo, she was one of the 3 avengers since 2019. By 2021, she was the only active avenger. She donned a mic in Apr 2023 when she became official. Easy tell for Yui: the girls all wore “filly tutus” until after Yui left. 🤘🦊
Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。This song is very different from other BM songs even if we know that BM's feature is musical diversity. FDTD has been performed only 3 times to date. Only a limited number of fans who were at Hollywood Palladium on June 16, 2017 had been privileged to experience this song for 4 years. On February 16, 2021, when the intro started, everyone at Budokan (including me) was firstly shocked and gradually god excited understanding what was going to happen. At the end of the song, however, everyone got confused with what he / she witnessed because it was too surprising and mesmerizing. On the following day (Feb.17), the audiences came to the venue expecting the setlist would remain the same and FDTD would be played again. Once this song started, many of them (including me) just stared at the stage without moving as if they were trying to burn the performance into their retinas. Su-Metal did it perfectly. "In the end !" Ethereal voice. And Moa and Momoko did perfect choreo like angels smoothly dancing around the goddess. Oh! I actually saw and listened to this artistry twice for sure, but still "was it real?" (Even after viewed it in Blu-ray video)
I am so envious you got to see this live.. and twice! This is one of my favourite songs by BM. I am seeing them in DC tonight(11/15), but I always have this wish (I know only a miniscule chance, but) to hear a rare song such this... or Akatsuki, or No Rain No Rainbow.
@@htusda1 Thanks. Have a good time at The Anthem 💛. I am envious of you, however. There haven't been any BM headline show here in Japan since March. I am waiting for good news twiddling my thumbs.
@@flugelhornoldman1362 The show in DC was great, including sound = Su's voice cut across very well. However no FDTD... but we were all smiling throughout the show. Last year, BM toured with DETHKLOK and to be honest I did not resonate with their music (totally different from BM vibes), so naturally I was worried about Scene Queen, having only seen couple of their TH-cam videos. For a group that constantly takes people by surprise, this still song is a surprise amongst surprises for many. Some people may know that Yuyoyuppe wrote Karate, Monochrome and Rondo of Nightmare, but fewer people know he wrote from Dusk till Dawn (or Kagerou, Believeing and GJ!) as well. When you combine Yuyoyuppe going beyond himself as a writer with Su going beyond herself as a singer, you get expotenital energy and power. The choreography, lighting and Kami band are adding to something that is already exceptional. BTW, Yuyoyuppe has written for some fun J-pop girl groups like Band Ja Naimon! and Moso Calibration. Please react to the 'Chi Chin Pui Pui' MV by Moso Calibration. It's J-pop/EDM not metal, and it's one of my favourite Yuyoyuppe songs. Like Babymetal, the girls have genuine Kawaii charisma and the song has fun, driving energy and a big chorus.
I've heard many adjectives used to describe Su-Metal's voice and they are all applicable. One that comes to my mind that I've not heard but I think applies, is stable. her voice is inhumanly stable. Through all of the choreo, all the tones and timbres, and all of the dynamics her voice is so stable. She is truly a generational talent
One of the softest but demanding Songs, that they can offer. Who knew that Su could still reach this frequencies. But I think this is a reason why they don't really play this Song anymore. Their current Schedules are simply to insane. From South America to the United States, then next year Australia and in May the first european and UK Arena Tour.
Great reaction, thanks! Yes, that was Momoko, still not Momometal. She was one of the three Avengers. Well... at this point she was the only Avenger. 😊 "FDTD" is considered a rarity for many reasons: style, vocals, language, song's release and live history, etc. Regarding the musical style, this is a rare mix of dream trance with metal. Vocally, the song starts with some of Su-metal's falsetto (not the first time we hear her doing it). But it's even more impressive when she sings those crazy notes in her head voice with full power. Lyrics are fully in English (which is still a rarity now) and never published officially (so, the subtitles here may not be 100% accurate). They only released it on the international version of the Metal Resistance album while the domestic (Japanese) version includes "Syncopation" instead. The song premiered live in 2017 at Hollywood Palladium in LA but they got some issues with the live footage (apparently regarding copyright, which is kinda ironic) and it wasn't performed again until 2021at the Budokan, where this footage is from. 🤘🦊
Good reaction👊🏽⚡️It’s hard to believe this song was on the second album. (Metal Resistance 2016). This is one of the few songs from the first 3 albums that would fit easily on the latest album. 🦊🤘🏾
I've said it before, the only thing you can expect from Babymetal is the unexpected (and an awesome performance) as every song is different. Su has said that if it sounds like a previous song, it is not a true Babymetal song. 😂 This is also a perfect example of why Su has been voted Best Female Metal Vocalist by a landslide the last 2 years in a row. 🤘🦊🤘
IMO, their Greatest Masterpiece. The song is a journey, on several levels. There is a very good discussion of the song elements and meanings on the Andrew Hartely You Tube page. Even though it's entirely in English, it was several years until a consenous (sort of) developed of what was being said,...let alone what meanings are being conveyed. very Zen.
There was a time after February 2020 and before their sealed period where Momoko was the only non-credited support dancer. Can we still call her an Avenger at this point? I say no. This performance happened during their Budokan shows in 2021 to celebrate their 10th anniversary, after which they took a nearly two year break from performing. When they returned in 2023, Momoko was still with them and she took her place as a full member during their third show back.
