Just remember that if you see someone claiming to know what happened to Yui, they are lying or also fell for other people's lies on the internet. No one knows, and it'll probably stay that way forever. Just to keep the misinformation to the minimum.
I've been a hardcore fan since 2016. I've seen and been through it all within the community. 2018 is considered the dark year of BM's history. We lost Yui and guitarist Mikio all around the same time, and it was a year of uncertainty and depression. The avengers era was fun and helped fans move on and made everyone feel like BM was going to be okay. Fans went years speculating that one of the Avengers were going to become a permanent third member. By the time Momo was the only one dancing with them, fan were begging Koba to announce her as the third member already. Because it was years with Momo dancing with them, there was Zero fan backlash when Momo became the official third member. Most were crying tears of joy from finally being able to move on, and BM being an official trio again.

The way they handled Momo becoming an official member was a brilliant PR move. It was quite surprising considering how lackluster they were in 2017-2018, either omitting information or waiting till the last second to say anything
there's a lot crazies out there speculating what really happen to Yui, yet they didnt even think or understand that's it's obviously Yui and her family decision to be out the radar, im just so glad that their not living in the west because if ihat happen's Yui will never have a peaceful life

Regarding Yuis undisclosed illness: Japanese, in general, are very keen to keep private things... private. So there's nothing to suspect here.
Regarding fan-backlash when Momoko was officially introduced: There, virtually, was none. But there were *five years* between Yui's leave and Momoko's incorporation. So this should surprise no one.

Not only this, if she had a careercending injury an insurance took over and this means all dara had to stay open and at the same time Amuse could not give any Statement concerning to her health Status. In such cases no comments and no Updates are the Safes for such companies. Ir wouldn't be so uncommon for a dancer in her age range and history.

This is the current go-to Babymetal guide, so this was a good choice. There is more stuff that could have been added, but it hits all the important points well.
Most of those events such as the early performances in 2010-11, the Sakura Gakuin stuff, and the performances with Dragonforce and Rob Halford are all here on youtube if you want to check any of them out. I would particularly recommend: "Kimi To Anime Ga Mitai" (Kiba of Akiba cover) and "My Graduation Toss" (Su-metal's graduation from Sakura Gakuin).
Regarding the Yui situation, which remains a subject of conjecture within the fan community to this day, the simple answer is that only the Fox God knows. In Japan medical matters are considered private and they absolutely do no talk about it. Su and Moa have said that they still talk to Yui and that she is doing well, but they have never said anything else. A popular fan theory is that Yui suffered a back injury some time in 2016-17 (or possibly back in 2014 when she fell off the stage at Budokan Red Night), but there are also some wild and harebrained theories that floated around for a while that I won't even mention. Yui is still listed on the Amuse website as a contracted talent, so the whole thing is a bit of a mystery. At this point, most fans have simply accepted that we will never know what happened and that we should respect Yui's decision and her privacy and let her be, although there are some diehard Yui stans that keep carrying the torch.

Thanks for reacting to my guide... Since you asked, yes some 'fans' were quite bad over Yui's departure. That joke about Momo sabotaging Yui is based (albeit in a mocking way) on a real comment made by a Yui fan, so they still plague us to this day.

Oh yeah there's a ton of stuff still to see, but this will be a nice base of knowledge. You've got the Trilogy of Lights (Starlight, Shine, Arkadia), The One, some great Su solos, the heaviest song in Sis Anger, Koba's Dream Theater tribute in Tales of the Destinies, and a whole lot more. I look forward to seeing it!
A random extra thing to add is how shocking it was that sayashi riho was an avenger. She is a Jpop legend. She joined morning Musume in 2011 as part of the 9th generation when she was 13. Right from the start she was a lead vocalist and center. Morning Musume is the longest running idol group in the world being formed in 1997. They are also one of the bestselling girl groups of all time. Riho was actually one of the reasons the group had a resurgence of popularity in 2012 during their colorful era. She surprised everyone when she graduated from the group on December 31, 2015. In her tenure she did everything but become leader of the group.
Side note she and su went to actors school Hiroshima together and were the top 2 students.
Her debut as an avenger was second time she performed since 2015.
Babymetal actually have 2 covers of morning Musume songs. Yui performed chokoto love by a subunit of morning Musume and Moa covered the iconic song love machine, which morning Musume have recorded 3 times the original in 1999. The updated version in 2013 where riho is a member and most recently the 2023 version with the current line up and the former leader mizuki fukumura who joined the group with riho.
PS riho was my favorite avenger but momo has become my favorite member of babymetal

I wasn't there during the 2018 fiasco (recently became a fan) but I heard enough to know that year was a chaotic year for Babymetal. Even their background dancers during that time got a lot of hate or backlash from the fans. The reason why the avengers are more accepted is probably cause Moa mention she wanted Babymetal to stay as 3-formation so she help plan the whole Avengers. Also, Riho being the first avenger maybe help soften the backlash cause Riho already has a huge fanbase (she's apparently more famous than Babymetal) to counter any negativity. Then we have Kano who was in SG that time and then Momo. Unfortnately amongst the 3 avengers, I always see Momo getting more criticism due to her body. Yes, she was the least favourite at that time cause she's too tall and too thick (I'm not saying this but I saw a lot of Eng and JP comments complaining about her looking out of place).
Fortunately the fans slowly accepted her. I think international fans were more accepting since Momo spent a lot of shows overseas than in JP. Now I see a lot of love for her, there's still some folks that didn't like the current lineup but they're the minority so any backlash was drown out by the fans happiness for Momo as well as the new Babymetal.

About Yui's fans, most of them are normal persons and happily accepted Momoko. To be fair and after 5 years, we can't speak of "replacement".
Only for your info, there is a very small amount of them (so-called Yuibros) that still live in 2017. They are sometimes very loud and have an "unhealthy" behavior.

The only real fan backlash about Yui's departure was that nobody from Amuse would tell the fans WTF was going on, the frustration was that everyone was kept in the dark on that first tour without Yui because initially it was implied and assumed that her absence was temporary.

I love performance of Babymetal Death on Clear Night PIA Arena. It was first concert for Momo as a official member and first perfomance of this song in 5 years. It group introduction song so it couldn't be performed as a duo. You can hear how crowd goes insane as Momo introduced herself. You can find this video on their official channel, it one of the recent ones.

We'll probably never know what truly happened with Yui. When members of Japanese groups leave, it's almost always a mystery to those outside of the immediate inner circle. Miho left LOVEBITES in 2021 and the reason is still unknown. Saki leaving Nemophila gave us more information than I expected when it was revealed that she left due to "differences in direction," but that's still fairly vague. So yeah, there's more to Yui's departure by default - there has to be since we were given so little. That said, we're given so little because, as I understand it, that's how Japanese/Asian culture works _and_ out of respect for Yui's privacy. It's not "sus," it's simply none of our business.

Of course you have a lot to hear, but as Moa fan as you, I highly recommend that when you hear "GJ!" and "Onedari Daisakusen", watch the "Budokan 2021" videos, which are the ones where Moa does the solo and are probably my favorite performances
Regarding your question about a backlash. There _was_ a section of the fanbase that kept on hoping through the years that Yui would eventually return, and bringing Momo in finally crushed that hope. There were cries of "Oh Noo" from them for sure - some are still in denial; I've seen one guy who refers to the new Babymetal as 'The Other Ones' - but no real hostility against Momo as I recall. (Also, occasional voices would have preferred seeing one of the other Avengers as a third member, even though Riho and Kano had already gone on to other things.)
Something the video doesn't mention is one of the girls in that early duo formation of backup dancers behind Su and Moa, appeared with them on a few promo pictures. _That_ got a bit of a fan backlash; it was just too early, with too many fans still counting on Yui to come back.
Regarding Yui, Amuse/Koba stated early on that any comments about her health should come from herself, so they effectively gave themselves a gag order. Since she has chosen to stay quiet, nothing more is coming out.

Recent fun fact: yesterday they played at San Francisco along with Dethklok as part of the Babyklok Tour started in 2023, and DragonForce was an invited band playing a short set.

On Yui: Babymetal has done an incredible job protecting these ladies’ privacy, and I respect that. Therefore, no matter how curious, I will take their word for it. Su and Moa have said that Yui is like a family member and that they still talk to Yui, and she is doing well.
Momo has more than earned her spot as the successor to Yui, and frankly these 3’s chemistry and stage dynamic is so wonderful last year. Lots of fun antics on stage 🤣.

It might be an idea for you to go through their catalogue from the start. Have you really never heard Megitsune? It’s probably their most played song and is emblematic of their whole ethos - it is also absolutely brilliant. Su’s solo songs are unbelievable and her immense talent really shines through and black BABYMETAL go very very hard.
It’s such a fun ride and they won’t cease to surprise and delight you.

26:34 - Just to top it of, this was in a year that j-pop and k-pop wasn't as big as it is today outside of Korea and Japan so most people didn't know what it was. To bring a new genre to the stage and in a language just few people people spoke overseas back in the days and do it at such a young age is amazing.

Since you are a fan of Moa, I would highly recommend watching Moa's solo of the Black Babymetal song 'GJ' at Budokan 2021. It's a must see.
And Shine at Legend M (Moa 20th bd) it will blow your socks off.
A lot of weirdos have all sorts of theories about Yui. The truth is we don't know and never will as she hit the 100% privacy button when she left. I hope the stalkers eventually leave her alone as they deserve literally no explanation as to why someone leaves the limelight.

You can’t replace an iconic member easily. They struggled IMO for a while, but have now settled on Momo. She seems like a good choice.
This guide is a worthy successor to the one previously made by CrypticMisery, but I think it's a unfortunate that it doesn't include nearly as many interview clips where the members themselves explain some of the things which the robot now reads instead. Barely any song snippets either. This makes the guide more monotonous, making it feel like a lecture. I'm fine with it, but some people might tune out and it's also a missed opportunity to show interview clips which most people won't ever see otherwise.

I am glad you reacted to this video and took the time to learn more about the group. I do wish AFoxSong add included just a few minutes to talk about the relationship between Suzuka and Moa; it helps to explain why the group has stayed to together after Yui's departure and may explain, in part, why Moa is so content to stay in her role of Scream and Dance. While Moa talks a lot about her love for Suzuka in print interviews, you can see a bit of that relationship in her message to Suzuka during Suzuka's graduation from Sakura Gakuin, which is available on TH-cam. I cannot wait to see you react to more music!
Sukura Gakuin is the child stars unit of the concept of schoollife in 2010-2021 by Amuse.( Amuse is the biggest listed entertainment company in Japan). Amuse has a lot of child stars (acting for TV. Movies. etc) .
And Amuse made the unit as the education program for their child stars. Therefor the unit members are only selected in the child stars and are very beautiful and humble.
The members act an idolunit and learn a lot of catgorys'skill (singging,dancing,talking. etc) by professionals of Amuse. (with acting for TV. Movies. etc )
The members have to graduate the unit on 15years old and transfer the specific section (actor,musician.etc) in Amuse.(Most of members become an actress.)😀
I've been a fan since 2015! YuiMetal was my favorite. I liked the idea of a trio and I was rooting for Saki Ooga as YuiMetal's replacement. But I was fine with any SG member. Syncopation has been my favorite for quite some time. ENJOY your journey with BABYMETAL and Sakura Gakuin. My favorite member of SG was Nene Sugasaki.

I see lots of suggestions, some for moa doing gj, it is cool, for the Su metal solos, all are great but one I feel just has great visuals and a bit harder, look up Amore live at Wembley her solo, singing and performance is great

A common thing for an idol to do when they want to leave a group is to cite ‘health issues’. As far as Yui she still listed as an artist for Amuse. Which means both Amuse and her have to renew her contract each year. Something Amuse would not do if she was seriously ill. The last comment that the Amuse Board stated about her was that she was fully recovered not retiring and was working on a secret project for the board several years ago. Since Koba in a recent interview said everyone at Metalverse was replaceable-including the creator (obviously not him) My money is Yui involved with Metalverse . Which isn’t too hard to believe when Yui held the Production chair the whole time she was at SG
If Yui was injured on the job, they could easily maintain her contract in perpetuity.
Stockholders ask every year about Yui, and the answer is always the same: Yui has recovered (or recovering, it's the same in Japanese), and is working toward her next activities or new dream. It's a none answer, and nothing is stated about what those activities are or that they have anything to do with Amuse. It could be anything and as we are on over seven years now, probably nothing to do with idol work.
@@Hymnodic But normally they don’t do it that way. They could pay here while not listing her at all or putting her on staff position. A example of that was Torahime, Saya’s and Hana’s old group. In March a couple years ago they basically said the group was disbanded due to COVID and everyone was given staff positions except Saya who wanted to continue to perform she left Amuse and got signed by Office Belief.
@@robertelton9153 There is a major difference of firing someone, and having someone injured on the job that effectively ends their idol career. You don't just give them another job, it doesn't work like that.
Theres a couple more guides you should really check out! Dont get me wrong,, this guide is great with lots of great info! Theres info in this guide that the others dont cover, and the other guides have info that this guide doesnt have, thats why you should watch all of them IMO. youll learn more. Id like to see this guy (A Fox Song) make a 4 hour/part of all Babymetal history.

@@ryanb-ol2pf There's generally too many to list. An example is Cryptic says BM was the youngest female act to play at the Budokan. This isn't correct, not even remotely. Hell, Sakura Gakuin performed a song there in 2011 for a fundraising event. But even if you wanted to twist it as an an actual act at Budokan instead of just a one-off charity event, they don't qualify. That goes to Sayuri Iwai.
I don't blame Cryptic or anything, even media, and in turn so does Wikipedia, says BM was, but I guess that's a lesson about trusting them.

Incorrectly states Sakura Gakuin was "meant to educate girls and prepare them for the entertainment industry" and is "an idol school".
Incorrectly states BM was only performing at SG shows "for a few years" until the "concert series" meaning IDZ.
Incorrectly states BABYMETAL "was created so-as to give girls a group". Ironically it's followed up with how BM was only ever meant to be apart of SG. SG's audience is 99% men, as is pretty much the entire idol industry in Japan.
Incorrectly states Su never messes up while singing live.
Incorrectly states Yui is always precise and doesn't mess up dancing. There's entire video compilations of her messing up.
Incorrectly states Yui wanted to be an idol or entertainment industry from watching Karen's Girls and that "she wanted to be like her (Su). She was already.
Incorrectly states that weird phrase about 'just staring at Su', it's so creepy weird and just wrong. Moa has had a habit over the years of looking at the back of people's heads, and pretty much anywhere else. She later said she has problem looking at people in the eyes, something she's had to work on. Hence, the natural response in interviews.

Incorrectly contributes the 2018 problems with Koba, when Su and Moa had made it clear decisions that happened that year were theirs.

Incorrectly keeps saying "old dudes" anytime BM fans did bad things. A lot of those people, especially Yui fans, I know for absolute fact are fangirls. Many of them are Yui-Moa shippers. Of course rnegitsune is a Moa-Su shipper. rnegtisune has a lot of nerve talking about how "creepy" people are when this person is one of the creepiest.

First, NO ONE knows where Yui is. We just know she's alive, and that's it.
About the backlash of Yui's departure... It was painfully horrible. Su and Moa legit thought their fans would reject them. People kept obsessively complaining in inappropriate times. It only died down a bit when the avangers were announced. People thought Yui would eventually come back (including babymetal), but she probably refused. When Momoko was hinted to be the new official member (2022, three years after the avangers project started), people were VIOLENTLY AGAINST HER. They hated her because of her body, though they could say nothing about her skills and stage presence. The backlash was BAD. I remember having to defend this girl with my dear life cuz people were cruel as hell. Though, after a few months, people just kind of accepted it (a few idiots still aren't over yui though) and even those who were against her started supporting her. They couldn't deny her overflowing talent, and how su and moa seemed to love her. Nowdays, 95% of the fandom loves the current lineup.

No one knows for sure why Yui quit. There is some circumstantial evidence that she may been wearing a back brace during her last performance as she was definitely wearing something under her outfit. Yui did not solely quit because of the injury. She basically said the injury got her thinking to what she wanted to do in life, and it evidently was not Babymetal.
You said maybe she wanted to go solo. That does not appear to be the case as she has been away for pushing 7 years.

In Japan that is very not "Sus" that is very very common as privacy in these matters are very common. Their are theories abound by moronic Babymetal fans but all pathetically more and more stupid. Whatever the reason was it's a health issue and a private issue and that is the end of it. There is not theory that holds any value, there is nothing suspicious of this. Sadly many of her fans have turned into pathetic selfish fanatical cultists and for five years the fandom dealt with their cancer who drowned out rational Yui fans.
Yui cultists were the chief complainers and they pathetically bothered the fandom for 5 years until Momoko finally was announced as Momometal. Thankfully that has killed this cancer and there are only a handful left but are not a problem.
Yui is one of the three best dancers Sakura Gakuin ever produced. With Kano Fujihira and Momoko Okazaki being the other two. I would say Yui was a close second to Kano in my opinion but all three had skills well beyond the other members and hard to compare as we have far more instance of Kano and Momoko doing more then just SG and BM dances over Yui who we have very little beyond the Jpop Style.

Most Anime can't afford BabyMetal songs. Do you know how much that would cost???? Yui might have torn discs in her back and can't dance anymore cuz some people said she was wearing a back brace at her final shows, but we will never know cuz Japanese are very private. Family disease, pregnant, so many rumors, just accept she is gone and leave it at that. Omg yeah, people complain about Yui endlessly but most of us just shut them down now.
