Welcome back.🦊This was the song we got on the international release of Metal Resistance where the Japanese release had 'Syncopation' instead. They had only ever played FDTD live once, at the Hollywood Palladium in 2017, but there was some sort of copyright issue with the pro-shot video so that has never been seen, there are only fancam videos for that performance. When BABYMETAL were holding a ballot for the top 10 songs for their Top 10 album for the 10th anniversary in 2020 a fan campaign got FDTD voted in. It was not on the album in the end, but they did at least play it live at two of the 10 Budokan concerts and we finally got this pro-shot video of a live performance to enjoy. With so few live performances it does tend to get overlooked, which it shouldn't as it is such a great and haunting song and Su's vocals are incredible. It is sung entirely in English, but the official lyrics were never published so the subtitles are a close approximation (there have been many attempts to work out what they are over the years, some better than others).
This song is definitely and will always be on my top 5 for babymetal.... When I had a friend listen to this, I had to point out to him that the high pitched sound he was hearing, it was the singer singing.....One reactor described this as Dream Metal....And after hearing it, I was looking all over for bands or groups that sound like this.... ethereal vocals combined with metal and electronic music....The light show on this stage is out of this world. 😁😁😁🤘🦊🤘

A limited number of fans who were at Hollywood Palladium on June 16, 2017 had been privileged to experience this song for 4 years. On February 16, 2021, when the intro started, everyone at Budokan (including me) was firstly shocked and gradually god excited understanding what was going to happen. At the end of the song, however, everyone got confused with what he / she witnessed because it was too surprising and mesmerizing. On the following day (Feb.17), the audiences came to the venue expecting the setlist would remain the same and FDTD would be played again. Once this song started many of them (including me) just stared at the stage without moving as if they were trying to burn the performance into their retinas. Su-Metal did it perfectly. "In the end ! (or In the air!)" Divine voice. And Moa and Momoko did perfect choreo like angels smoothly dancing around the goddess. Oh! I actually saw and listened to it twice for sure, but still "was it real?" (Even after reconfirmed it in Blu-ray video)
I love this song, the Erie mad descent from Dusk into the chaotic breakdown that is Midnight, then the crescendo snd breakthrough into Dawn. All accompanied by Su’s angelic vocals. Just an epic experience all around!! 🤘🦊
Like you, I fell in love with this song very quickly. There is a sense of sadness and loss of one's self in the beginning of the song. Then after the breakdown, it gives a joyful contemplation of hope that you can get through whatever you're feeling and a bright tomorrow is ahead. I think this was the only time the song was performed, and the fact that it was performed at Budokan is a testament to all they have achieved to perform at Budokan again. "FDTD" is considered a rarity for many reasons: style, vocals, language, song's release and live history, etc. Regarding the musical style, this is a rare mix of dream trance with metal. Vocally, the song starts with some of Su-metal's falsetto as you perfectly noticed (not the first time we hear her using it). But it's even more impressive when she sings those crazy notes. Lyrics are fully in English and they only released it on the international version of the Metal Resistance album but not on the domestic (Japanese) version which includes "Syncopation" instead. The song premiered live in 2017 at Hollywood Palladium but they got some issues with the live footage (apparently regarding copyright, which is ironic) and it wasn't performed again until 2021at the Budokan (where this footage comes from). Nice reaction! FDTD is one of the underrated BABYMETAL songs, IMHO. Ignored, almost. But it is such a special song! In this performance it is even like a whole genre on its own. Its a wonderful composition, wandering all over the place, but not staying in one or two genres, one can´t fix it to the one or two genres of the many things it covers. And Su-Metal singing it? Like Moametal once said in an interview, when Su-Metal sings, it is like an angel descended to planet Earth and started to sing... Not many people know that there are no official lyrics for this one, too. All lyrics are made by fans, analyzing it to the best of their abilities in order to find out what exactly Su-Metal is singing. There is a still ongoing debate (including a slightly satiric, and very funny, caricature), if she sings "In the air!" or "in the end!", when she started to belt it out after the falsetto part 🤣 I absolutely love this song!

FDTD is such a great song. So different from everything else. As far as the pausing, no matter how you do things, you will never satisfy everyone. Just do what you have to do. I will say though, sometimes moments in songs are interconnected with the following moments so when the song is paused at one point too many times it disconnects the flow of things. Specifically, I am referring to that transition which leads to Su's final 2 belted notes. The sum of all that is better than just the one part. So I was kind of wishing you would just let it play through. That being said, I can still greatly appreciate something even if I didn't think it's absolutely perfect. It was a great reaction. :)

Although it looks like a new song from previous album and we only got this proshot version from 2021, song it's actually from Metal Resistance released in 2016 and becomes one of the underrated tracks but hidden gem for some more fans. This song was performed along with Syncopation in the middle of setlist during Doomsday III and IV, it got that epic and ethereal vibes and it shows a mature side in BM second album, Metal Resistance. Both songs are part of that album, only thing is FDTD was released for international market and Syncopation only locally, of course is another suggestion for next reaction. This is a long time waited proshot version for the fans, song was pushed to be performed again after many years and being played only one time at Hollywood Paladium in 2017 while on US tour when YuiMetal was still in the group, sadly for copyright disputes that proshot version never saw the light and we only have fancams of that. Thankfully they performed this in 2021 at 10 Babymetal Years Budokan, and surprised everyone with this astonishing and beautiful production. Momoko Okazaki (now MomoMetal) was the avenger helping to fill the third spot and she did a great job. Also the English lyrics is a little bit more clear thanks to Papa Xan from BMRR although this one is a fan edit with another English translation, but we don't have official lyrics yet, is one out of four songs with full English lyrics. Like someone said before, MoaMetal is like a body subtitles for this song. Love that dubstep or brostep breakdown, is a genre widely know and popular around 2015 thanks to Skrillex among others, he actually become very good friend of BM and even invite them to perform during a Skrillex show in Japan playing a remix version of Gimme Chocolate!! This month they started the Asian Tour and in October they will be at Knotfest Brazil, Argentina and Chile for the first time in South America, as well Peru with a headlining show, they will come back to the US for another tour and also Mexico will be part of that tour but this time as special guests for Slipknot, we can't wait for it. More importantly, also in the audience that night were Su's Mom and Dad. : ) However, I would have loved to see one of the two Budokan February 2021 performances. They took it to a whole new level. And Su's voice just gets better and better.

Yuü, one of my favorite songs. At that time Su and Moa had to show what they can do with their voices. And now they could do in principle more. But in reality they limited this song. It is probably a song that put too much strain on their voices..

I love FDTD, one of my favorite songs of theirs. This was the exclusive track on the international version of their second album. I would suggest Syncopation Live at Legend MM 2024 as well which was the exclusive track on the Japanese one.
