This song is so artfully done to create tension in the delayed drops, which fits the meaning of the struggle between "Light and Darkness", a "love and hate" relationship.

Every song from, "The Other One" is an absolute banger. Really love the more mature sound they put together there. The choreography and the light show for Light and Darkness is pure cinema.
Don't get sucked into the Yui versus Momo thing. Babymetal has always worked best as a trio, it's how they bring out the best in each other. Of course, we should never forget about the wonderful contributions that Yui made, but we shouldn't be stuck in the past and feel sad about her absence. Life forced her on another path and she chose to remain out of the public eye. During her time she was a gem that brightened everyone's lives. Now we have Momoko who is doing the exact same thing, ensuring that the trio is complete. There is no need to take sides. We can love all 4 of them. It'll be okay, I promise. We are The One, afterall.

"Light and darkness" is way outside my alley musically and I admit it took me a few extra listens until it grew on me. But it eventually did and it was thanks to Su-metal's amazing vocals. Now, I enjoy it a lot and I hope to experience it live sometime... as it remains a rarity, having been performed live only three times. 🤞

For the record, I'm a lifelong metalhead, old-school and I admit being a metal elitist back in the day. To the point it's still very hard for me to get used to new music even today. I'm also a little picky (or a lot) and it's rare that I fall for a song on the first listen. In fact only BABYMETAL gets it... sometimes. 😁

There are ``studio recordings'' and ``live recordings'' of this song on TH-cam, but the live recording you chose is absolutely and overwhelmingly better.
Maybe it's because I'm Japanese so I can understand the lyrics, but this song is filled with all the greatness of Su's vocals.
The song is sung beautifully, with strength, kindness, and emotion in each word.
It made me realize once again that she is a true vocalist.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 As you know, "Difference" and "Diversity" is another name of BABYMETAL. This song again conveys a totally new flavor to me, something like mixture of anxiety and its sublimation (towards good or bad).
In an interview, Su mentioned a dichotomy of BABYMETAL in this song. She said "I am not sure whether I am on the illuminant side or in the shadow. My perspective changes while singing." [source : Japanes magazine "PMC" page 42].
High and low undulation of Su's voice with maturity and sharp moves by Moa and Momoko brought about various emotions.
I witnessed this performance at the venue on Day-2 after Momo was inducted as the 3rd girl. In this sense, I had no anxiety about the 3-girl formation. The new and glaring era has begun and I was honored to be one of the audience on the day to commemorate. The audience there was, without doubt, basking in the light coming from 3 illuminants.

Nice reaction. You went into this from a music fan perpective rather than a metalhead perspective. As you found out, the song is pure class.
It's good to see this song getting the appreciation it deserves. It was wrongly labeled as being pure J-pop when it came out. But pure J-pop doesn't have metal guitar and drums running through it. Its tune/structure has more in common with a classical string music piece than pop music and it seems to be writen with Su's vocals in mind. People who can't understand why Babymetals music isn't 90% metal on every song, are never going to understand them.
As for having a favourite member, it's fine whoever it is, because thy're all worthy. Su is my favourite.

Good reaction. This one took me a short while and waiting for the live version to really appreciate it (that disco type beat at the start threw me initially - it was impossible to avoid disco music when I was young and I hated it).
I think people over-emphasised Yui to you. She was ridiculously sweet and kawaii and we all love and miss her, but it should not be seen as all about her. Rather than calling it the Yui era I would always refer to those early years as the original trio era, there were 3 of them - Su, Yui and Moa - and all 3 of them crucial for what they were doing.
For me it was the fact you were actively avoiding their early music and performances, presumably because you thought it would all be childish or the songs would lack depth or something ... neither of which is true.
I think you will enjoy those early era performances more if you think of it as the original trio and don't feel you are being forced to concentrate your attention on Yui.
I avoided the earlier stuff simply because I prefer the sound of more mature voices. Just my preference! ^_^

We get that you like Momo - which is great - but you also have to consider BABYMETAL has a long history and Momo was not an official member for most of it (joining fully in 2023, Avenger since 2019) - during the Avenger years she's rotating with other girls and when she is on stage for a proshot video like this the camera tends to focus more on Su & Moa as they are the official members at the time
Also the older era has much more of the Japanese kami-band (with their beautiful corpse paint you love so much haha 🦊) and the only way to see Mikio Fujioka performing
Just setting some realistic expectations here - you can't expect a Momo video for everything :)

Nice reaction! Remember that the PIA Arena show was divided into two nights. Black Night being the first day and with the black outfits, and the second day, called Clear Night, with the most recent outfits (with colorful details), and with Momo using the microphone for the first time as an official member (since she was announced as Momometal at the end of the Black Night).

L&D is one of my favorite BM songs. (About 5th or 6th) I know a lot of fans don't like it much, but it's tune is so soothing, and Su works her magic on this song. She's got such an ear for precision and detail, and you can really see it here. (And Monochrome to a degree)

Hi Abs, cool reaction. This song had a slow burn for a lot of Babymetal fans. When it was first released it didn't immediately scream banger at all of them. However, I think most have come around to it now and for me, it is now one of my favourite tracks on The Other One.

This is a great song, but man, the live version takes it into the stratosphere. The instruments in particular are more prominent, and Su has so much more emotion in her voice. Love it.

Light And Darkness is a show worth watching again and again. I can find different highlights every time I watch it. I like both the lyrics and the dance. The original version has no intro. But I prefer the live version with the intro. It feels more complete. Thanks for your great reaction.

@@Abigirl_Reacts it's 3 songs, Starlight, Shine (might be my favorite BM song), and Arkadia. Songs are about the stages of grief. Great songs often tied to honour the passing of the lead guitarist and Yuimetal having to leave the band.
OH and since you live Momo so much, I'd HIGHLY recommend reacting to Meta Taro momo version, often called MomoTaro.

Nice reaction. Yui will forever be loved by Babymetal fans especially from those early years when things weren't easy for them. From staging problems to Yui falling off the stage. And the metal gatekeepers who no matter what they did just would not accept them as metal. Yui was there for it all. With that said the newer fans who went from Su and Moa duo to the new trio of Su Moa and Momoko still here the crap about them not being metal. But too bad gatekeepers. Over a decade in and Babymetal is still hear and still Kawaii metal. Momoko does seem to really enjoy her role in Babymetal. Many of us hope she will be there with Su and Moa for a very long time. Truth is no one knows the exact reasons Yui left but Yui. IMO Yui would be proud of the job Momoko has done and the fact that Momoko's specialty is dance just like Yui would put her high up in Yui's book. To me anyway. Makes me wonder if Yui suggested Momoko to begin with. We never found out how the 3 Avenger Danvers were picked. 2 Momoko and Kano came from Sakura Gakuin where Babymetal started. The other Riho was an old classmate of Su's. It apparently pays to stay in touch with your Babymetal classmates.

Great reaction. Light and Darkness is definitely one of Babymetal's most underrated songs.
About Yui, I think you have to have done a deep dive into Sakura Gakuin and Babymetal history to really understand how special Yui is to long time fans. The chemistry between her and Moa on and off stage was something special. Of course that does not mean we do not love Momo as well.
Everyone knows that Yui was important, but why force people to like her so much? Especially when Momo is someone's favorite member.

If you like new BABYMETAL better, just stick to your preferences. If you do not use the "right" performance, you may get some frustrated comments, because people cannot coy&paste their prepared texts. But last BABYMETAL is best BABYMETAL in terms of quality. Su and Moa have improved a lot over time and are still improving. Momo is fantastic and she is ridiculously in sync with Moa. Almost all songs have already been performed with Momo, so no need to relive the memories of long-term fans of a glorified past.
I think I'll stick to new BM ^_^

I think there’s a misunderstood point of getting into the Yui era(or old era or original trio era whichever the way people wants to call it) you started your Babymetal Journey with Momo on it and that’s cool because it’s the present and the future and we all love Momo with all our spirits, but for example I started with the old era but not just for that it means I am ch4ined or forc3d or to prefer Yui more than Momo, I feel like she gave too much cuteness to the band when she was there, I appreciate the songs where she appears but like everyone else I don’t need to like every single song or watch every single one of them just because of Yui, I did it because I was enjoying Babymetal as a whole I was enjoying all of their songs and that’s why I choose to listen to all of their songs, but there’s a big difference between the diferente eras besides of Yui and Momo, the big difference is the matureness of their songs as they were growing up, you like so much Monochrome and Light and Darkness due to the lack of childish tones on their songs because they belong to the most recent Album, and that fact on their old songs is not bad they were so young so they enjoyed that part of their lives but now they’ve matured so much and that gets reflected on their stuff, so I’m gonna tell you the secret to enjoy their old stuff more than you are currently doing, don’t focus on watching just to Yui but enjoy their music. Unfortunately they only have 10 songs on their last album called “The Other One” but they have lots and lots of good music from their old albums even with a bit of childish tones in them.
It is true that those songs are the only ones where we will be able to see Yui but that is not the main reason to watch a song or to Enjoy it, I love many many old songs because of the performance and the audio quality, not just because Yui appears there, yeah I love her like many others even if I Learnt about Babymetal this year and I didn’t watch them grow up through the years, but I love their old stuff(or I better say love some songs of their old era) because of the songs not just because Yui appears in them.
I had to listen to all of the songs because I was loving their stuff, but once I listened to all of them I obviously fell in love with some songs and I listen every time to the songs that I like. Everyone has their favorite ones and that’s why they recommend you many songs but you are not forc£d to watch them just for Yui but for the song itself.
For example when I recommend you a song I don’t do it just because Yui appears there, I do it because I consider it a good song and I think you may love it.
I’m sure you’re gonna love all of their remaining collabs(you’ve only watched one “Ratatata”) Kingslayer with Bring me the horizon, Leave it all behind, Papaya and all of Su’s 4 solo songs, all of them are 🔥🔥🔥. You May need to reorganize your list of reactions for the ones that have more requests and not following them in the order you were saving them, I think it must be a good way for you to enjoy the best songs.
If it would depend just by me I’d tell you which songs to react only but you have a whole audience many followers that like to suggest you more, keep it up Abi 🤘

Don't get me wrong, I like Momo, but there's so many songs that you would miss out on if you only watch concerts with her in it. Like the Black Babymetal songs. With how you enjoyed the piano I'm actually going to suggest one that also has piano in it and is also a special performance by Su-Metal as it was done in her hometown. That being, No Rain No Rainbow Live @ Legend S. I'm also still going to suggest you react to The not so Extensive Guide to Babymetal so you can learn even more about Babymetal.

I absolutely love Light and Darkness, and it doesn't get enough reactions. The trick needed to get it on YT without any footage modification was to let BM's company reclaim the copyright by putting the extra concert footage as for some reason the streaming company still has ownership over a year after.
I don't blame you for wanting to stick with the new BABYMETAL. Some people are way too obsessed with the old BM. [add Frozen Let it Go meme here]. For your next PIA Arena 2023 one I would suggest Divine Attack. For their most recent Legend MM 2024 concerts, I would also suggest Syncopation.

@@Abigirl_Reacts I used to be a professor at Tokyo Womens University, and one thing I notice is a lot of young Japanese women do not know how to dress because they grow up wearing uniforms every day. Theyll just pick one outfit and wear it every day. It actually kind of makes sense Baby Metal have a uniform.

Do Sakura Gakuin - My Graduation Toss live - "Sakura Gakuin - My Graduation Toss (RTG 2012) [Remastered Video]" - You need to see the roots. Don't be a girl that sits at the finish line and picks the winners. You get to see Moa cry for 5 mins cuz Su is leaving SG. Moa is the Angel of Love and cries for everyone. They told Su not to cry then they looked at Moa and said whatever just dont have a full meltdown. Moa only had a 98% meltdown.
