About 133 years later, a fish and chip shop called 'Jack the Chipper' was opened around the same area where the victims of Jack the Ripper were barbarically murdered.
I don't care how good the food is nor if I'm given a large sum of money to eat there; I'm not going no matter what! I *HIGHLY* doubt the "fish" there's real fish given the name of the restaurant and where it's located; doesn't matter if it was 133 years ago to me, I'm not trusting that place.
I can't imagine the sick sense of satisfaction the Ripper must have felt on his death bed. Knowing he'd gotten away with one of the most famous murders ever
Most murderers like that don't feel pride when they've gotten away with it. It becomes something like breathing, they simply do what they must do, and they know they're hurting someone. They made a choice to satisfy themselves regardless, and it's entirely possible that he was glad he wouldn't have to do it anymore, on his deathbed.
This is one of the most graphic and brutally disturbing videos that I ever watched from Simple History. However it was enjoyable. Please keep up the good work Simple History.
The terror these women must have felt is horrible. The way they say “last seen…” always disturbs me because you never know if a random person you saw or talked to or passed on the street might have been the last time anyone saw them alive and breathing and safe. You may have just witnessed that persons last moments before they were killed. Disturbing, but despite that, it’s an interesting but tragic part of history

This individual, the Thames Torso Killer, left nothing but the torsos of his victims behind, including one in the basement of an under construction police station. That's right. Jack the Ripper is so intriguing, people remember him ahead of someone who does things you'd think only a Batman villain could/would do.

Hmm, doctors that did the autopsy didn’t think that JTR had medical training, but body organs were placed around the victims body.. Good job SH on covering this part of history though. You’ve done good research! 👍
According to the Book: Jack the Ripper: Quest for a Killer and the Discovery Channel documentary: Jack the Ripper Killer Revealed (2009), one of the suspects that might be Jack the Ripper's identity is a person named Robert Mann, a mortuary attendant.
He was trying to 'escape'....what almost 25 years later he was still trying to escape. Well as they have no idea who he was why would he even need to escape?
Fun fact: Jack the Ripper appeared in Assassin's creed Syndicate as a boss fight in a DLC expansion. Like his real life counterpart his identity is unknown, but in the games he is secretly one of the assassin members, he targets Jacob Frye during the first few minutes but his sister fought him, but realized that his identity can't be revealed due to the fact that he is one of their own assassin's brothers.

I remember when I went to London for a vacation, I went to this place called 'The London Dungeon.' They had this Jack the Ripper story thing where we go to different places and all and live actors enact the history. There was a small rollercoaster (Just a platform where we sat and the thing fell down about 15 feet I think) I've been to many places and many countries but that was by far my favorite...
Interesting topics, I know they have narrowed it down to the most likely suspect. There are conflicting reports saying that this person had medical training while another said that the killer didn’t even have enough training to be a butcher.
Say Simple History, what do you think of the prospect of HH Holmes being Jack the Ripper? The History Channel did a documentary about this and I was wondering if you saw any validity to this theory.
That theory seems absolutely ridiculous. The only thing that links the two is that they were both psychopathic killers at around roughly the same time. Other than that they have nothing in common at all and the MO of the killings is totally different.
@@aspiknf I didn't think so. There was also an error in which the paper trail picked up again, that even the History Channel refused to acknowledge, I'm not sure which episode it was, but it's a small, but vital detail that proves HH Holmes, wasn't Jack the Ripper.
Hey SH! Great fan of your excellent and informative videos! You could might possibly do a series of videos of horror stories from different wars? Like the rock apes from the Vietnam War? It would be lovely to see!
There was a Swedish guy that had been researching The Ripper for 20 years i think? Well anyway , the second victim was found by 2 men actually , the first one that found her gave a false name to police and the court when giving evidence, this guy also just happened to have all the murders on his 3 possible ways to get to work. Also what type of person would be able to walk around covered in blood and not be given a second look? .... A meat delivery man ....... thats what this guy was , his uniform would be covered in animal blood from picking up and moving animal carcasses. So yeah a Butcher that carted meat around at 2am in the morning ........ and covered in blood .... also it was only sheer luck that he wasnt caught, because he told a officer, that another officer at the scene of crime , had told him to get help ...... well that didnt happen , but just by luck another officer just happened to stumble on to her body while the officer was getting to the scene. Also the second person that found This possible JTR standing over her body , he also testified that there was no blood , but the first officer that found her said there was blood pooling, which ment the first person to find her probably killed her , which was this meat carter, there's a Doco on it on youtube.

@@thenextbondvillainklaussch3266 A couple of major issues with the lechmere theory. 1. The claim he lied to the police about his last name out of nefarious intent is immediately invaliadated since he gave his proper address AND line of employment. It makes no sense to lie about your last name for deception but tell the police where you live. 2. "He lied to pc mizen", this is conflicting and likely bogus because many newspaper accounts say that he said "you're wanted down there", instead of "a police officer wants you down there" indicating significant changes. It's more likely a case of miscommunication as it makes no sense for Cross to lie to a police officer under that specific context when Paul was just there next to him. 3. HE attended the inquest on his own accord, Paul did not. 4. His morning commute to work roughly matches the time and place of some of the murders, ok fair point. However, all the murders were committed on weekends and public holidays. Why would a man that supposedly timed the murders with his morning commute gravitate towards days of rest? Makes no sense. 5. "Lechmere killed stride and eddowes after paying a late night visit to his mother", if he was this much of an impulsive murderer to do this does it really seem likely that he would just stop and continue to live normally until the age of 71? On a superficial look he sounds convincing, but when you break it all down the theory loses most of its footing. It's highly unlikely he was the ripper.
For many of people that are saying, the identity was revealed. Problem with the claims, is that there are too MANY people who say that the identity has been revealed. One said that it was a police man, another stated that it was a polish barber, etc.
5:36 There was also a Jewish man who seen her with a man having an argument. Schwartz I think his last name was. Not wanting to get involved he crossed the street and passed another man. The first man stopped assaulting her and cried out to the second man "Lipski!" (a derogative name for a Jew) The second man chased Schwartz but the latter got away. He later identified her as the same woman he saw in that argument. It was important to the investigation because it opened the possibility that two men were committing these murders.
Yup. Just Like the nightstalker, Richard Ramirez. His murder spree was arguably as gruesome and more depraved than JTR and i couldnt tell you off the top of my head who any of his victims were. RR was the living embodiment of evil incarnate
Millers Court and Dorset street were renamed and demolished at the turn of the century. The street and court have been built over with an office block. But for those Historians and tourists... If you go to Commercial Street, just south of the Old Public house (pub) there will be a obelisk near the church... if you stand at the obelisk and look directly west across the street, about 50 yards away from you... would of been Dorset Street and just north, Millers Court.
James Maybrick, a leather worker with TB who committed the murders on his way home from work, there were 7 victims and considering he did work in the US, I'm curious how many he killed in the US. The reason the murders stopped is because he died and Mary Kelley was filleted, the message actually said "You're one off" and was painted on the wall in blood
The police believed that Jack the Ripper may have been some sort of doctor because autopsies of the bodies of his victims indicated he had advanced knowledge of human anatomy.

Blackout ripper : Yeah I got caught for being a serial killer.
Jack the Ripper: is that all you got
I think its time for Jack, to LET' ER RIP.
I'd love to see you guys do the Valisca Iowa axe murder house.
Vasilica? It was the maid.

HH Holmes is not Jack the Ripper.
Oh, you mean those Marines getting surrounded by Vietnamese bigfoots?
@@figtree_video_archive Yeah! And im sure there are a bunch of other paranormal or creepy happenings in other conflicts!
Also the second person that found This possible JTR standing over her body , he also testified that there was no blood , but the first officer that found her said there was blood pooling, which ment the first person to find her probably killed her , which was this meat carter, there's a Doco on it on youtube.
th-cam.com/video/UIyAMo-fms0/w-d-xo.html for anyone that wants to watch it. Ive seen heaps of these and all sounded like a massive stretch , with far fetched idea's , this one but , i think he's got him.
One said that it was a police man, another stated that it was a polish barber, etc.
sleepy joe?
5:36 There was also a Jewish man who seen her with a man having an argument. Schwartz I think his last name was. Not wanting to get involved he crossed the street and passed another man. The first man stopped assaulting her and cried out to the second man "Lipski!" (a derogative name for a Jew) The second man chased Schwartz but the latter got away. He later identified her as the same woman he saw in that argument. It was important to the investigation because it opened the possibility that two men were committing these murders.
The more I learn about this Jack guy the more I start to suspect that he was a real jerk

There's a lot of symbolism with Jack's style.

The crazy thing about serial killers is that people remember the serial killers and not the people they killed.
Yup. Just Like the nightstalker, Richard Ramirez. His murder spree was arguably as gruesome and more depraved than JTR and i couldnt tell you off the top of my head who any of his victims were.
RR was the living embodiment of evil incarnate
Random I know, but a biography recommendation that might be well received is Davy Crockett or honestly any pioneer from the Manifest Destiny era.
wtf....
Good idea. lol
Love the military/war videos but I really love the civilian murder videos. This is awesome. Thanks
You know it is interesting when Simple History makes the video 21 minutes long
The longest video you guys ever uploaded!!! Congrats!!
If this happened now he would be named “Chad the Chopper”
Maybe he will have his own secret Instagram lol
Iff he was alive today he would probally have recorded the murders, weird thought.

How pleased you are to chop away, Jack The Ripper. - Monsoon of the Winds Of Destruction
Thank you for this!
The police believed that Jack the Ripper may have been some sort of doctor because autopsies of the bodies of his victims indicated he had advanced knowledge of human anatomy.
The first man to find the first body was actually a butcher and he convicted the second man who found the body to walk away and not touch the body
It's about time Jack was put on the list.☠️🗡️
What
My grandmother told my mom her grandmother was the ripper. She was angry her husband was sleeping with these women. Because she became ill from a s.t.d she worked as a butcher with her father she new how to use a blade. We have some letters of her. And some other evidence we turned in to Scott land yard . There is going to be a book coming out later this year!
Also my great great grandmother stood 6ft with a slender build we also have a hat and suit of her that has what appears to have blood in them..
If you don’t mind me asking, what is the name of the book?
