Fact: the term "Crime against humanity" was first used by American writer Mark Twain to describe the treatment of the Congolese people by the Belgians. Glad he mentions it on map.

@@dewilew2137 Information being true doesn't mean it hasn't been presented in a way lacking context and intending to be misleading. An 'origin' video of this conflict which early on states that the Palestinians were 'just there' and the Jewish were kicked out by the Romans is misleading. The Temple of Solomon was built in the Kingdom of Israel in BCE, thousands of years ago. It was burned down and rebuilt, still BCE. The Neo-Assyrian Empire then destroyed the Kingdom of Israel and now there are two mosques built on top of the holiest site in the Jewish religion. These are the modern day Palestinians. I'd think that would be important context in a video explaining the origin of this conflict.
This is an incredibly biased retelling. Islamic antisemitism is completely left out, obscure conversations between individual Zionists are treated as doctrine, several quotes by British officials were deliberately misinterpreted (especially Balfour), and one-sided massacres against Jews, such as Nebi Musa were largely just framed as clashes. Oversimplified would do better.
I've been there as a Christian tourist, met the Palestinians and those people have the most legitimate grievances one can ever hear. The Gaza war taking place there now is breaking my heart and I hope both the Jewish and Arab people who were so good the me there are alright.

LOL. That sure makes a lot of sense. Why are Palestinian genes nearly identical to Lebanese and Jordanian genes? Why can Jewish DNA be traced thousands of years back to the Levant? Why can historians trace the Jewish diaspora from the land of Israel to those European countries you spoke of? Why were the jews in those countries to begin with? The Arabs came from the ARABIAN peninsula in the 7th century and colonized the Middle East. Why do you think there are so many Arabs? But yeah, totally makes sense.
@@inferno-sushi1738 The Palestinians have been genetically proven to descend from Jews who converted to Christianity and Islam. They just never left the land. They are not 'recent Arab migrants' and are genetically almost indistinguishable from Mezrahis. They are Levantines who speak Arabic. Before the Levantines, the Natufians lived in that region for thousands of years. The fact that Jewish identity is now based on invalidating the identity of the Palestinians is really awful and sad to me, and did not exist before the Zionist movement. I refuse to define Judaism as a race when science shows it is not a unique race. It is a religion where people can convert to , like Ivanka Trump. In genatics, there is no such thing: (Jordanian, Lebanese or Palestinians) rather there are Levantines because it was one area for decades. In fact, these classification came up after the British and French mandate over the Levant in 1916 The Sykes-Picot Agreement.

@@GodOfMySalvationIsYeshua Modern day Palestinians are much more genetically closely related to the Jews from Israel that faced the Diaspora after the Romans sacked Jerusalem in 70 A.D. than anyone else. Ashkenazi Jews are largely European descendants of people who were known as “Khazarians.” They converted to Judaism as their kingdom was in between a Christian empire and Muslim empires. This theory was proposed and researched by the Jewish professor Schlomo Sand. Later, forensic genealogists examined the matter further and proved his theories were accurate. Of course, modern day Ashkenazi Jews call this a “debunked anti-Semitic conspiracy theory” because it is threatening to their narrative about how Israel belongs to them. The reason most Jews look so European is because they are at least 40% European, if not much more.
@@Breakfast.pancakeyep. That's not "defending yourselves" if you're killing Palestinians on their own land, to protect your own violent illegal immigrants from the people they stole from.
I think he did well except he didn't really give much detail to the fact that Jews inhabited the land forever until Rome kicked them out. Most persons act like the Palestinians has been there for all of time and the Jews have zero claim to be there. Both groups have legitimate claims.
@shanefrederick7731 The issue is that any random person from any random corner of the world can convert and become jew and then turn around and say “ give me my 5 acres and a mule” when they have 0 blood ties to that region.
@@checo8187yeah that’s not how Judaism works. In contrast to other religions that try to expand. Jews try to keep their historical roots intact. That’s why not anyone is allowed to convert. And typically the only people allowed to do that are people who are marrying a Jewish person.
@@shanefrederick7731 also according to your logic, thr natives should attack and occupy the US and the americans should allow them to. Same with Australia. I found your channel yesterday. I have to say this is the best historian animation channel on whole TH-cam because the details you mention and every side story man... I love it. I love you ❤.
I love this channel as much as I love Oversimplified. The creator of this video told histories from both sides of the conflict and did not even sugarcoat any war crime or attrocities commited by both sides (such as attrocities commited by US and South Koreans during Korean War) , which helped me listening to the other side of the story and helped with my history research. Keep up the good work, brother ❤
Are you serious? He sugarcoats this SO much for the Arabs. This video is infuriatingly biased. He paints the Jews as evil and the Arabs as innocent victims. This is essentially the “history” of the region as told by Yassar Arafat, but without the outright Jew-hatred.
@@markbisson6166Who persecuted the 'jws' in Europe and who should pay for it? The answer to both is not Palestine. Everyone can see the injustice here.
I'm left wing, and I can't believe you think this video shows the conflict from both sides. Its extremely biased towards the arabs, leaving out countless terror attacks commited by them, while bolding out the Lehi's terror and minimizing the Jewish ancestry and origin in the land (essentially the de-colonization of Israel). Also not taking into account that Jews were always praying to Israel, calling it "Eretz Israel" even on old coins before 1948. You can choose a side, that's fine and it's your choice - but blindness is another thing.
@YuVaL77777 The biased calling the other side biased is always fun to see. Nobody on Earth "owns" land indefinitely. Especially not from over 2000 years earlier. This is why your religious types are so insideous. You believe everyone else in the world has to subscribe to your versions of fairytales to the tune of literally causing wars.
This is an incredibly complex topic. Unfortunately, this video does not analyze this historical event from a neutral standpoint. There are a bunch of statements that are not sourced because they are opinions, unfortunately. These opinions are stated as truths. A neutral analysis does not work this way. I will show below the timestams when opinions or false information is stated as truths. 'There was no Jewish or British plan to expel Arabs from the proposed Jewish state' 20:05 'Not just people but Jews were hiring Jews. Also Arabs were hiring Arabs. That's not a big surprise. Although it is made to sound as if the British imposed segregation laws, which I could not find.' 16:38 'Well, it is the author's personal opinion to state that zionism is a colonial project. There are plenty of reasons why this can not be true.' 9:56 'While it is true that the British gave military assistance to the Palmach forces of the Haganah in 1942. It is not mentioned, however, that the British stopped doing so in 1943 and attempted to disarm the Haganah. Making it sound as if the British played the main role in building the Haganah.' 24:58 Let's also not forget things that were not included in this video, which could explain things that seemed a bit sketchy. For example, the Jewish bitterness towards the British was not simply about restricting Jewish imagination. Jewish refugees during WW2 that fleed to the british mandate were intercepted by the royal navy and placed in concentration camps in Cyrus. If it was mentioned what actually happened to Jewish refugees who tried to enter the British mandate, Lehi's sentiment would have made some logic.
Gotta love the animations and the style! Also, excellent work on simplifying such a controversial AND complex situation, with humor, while also being respectful to the events themselves. Thanks for the video, and looking forward excitedly for part 2 :D p.s. Kudos too for the new animator! He's a highly positive addition to your work :D
So I've been seeing a bit of map inaccuracies in this video, so when Britain colonized Palestine after the Ottomans fell, it was called "The British Mandate of Palestine" which includes of Israel (minus Golan Heights), Palestine, and Jordan. And in 25:09, when it shows Vichy France over Syria and Lebanon it also shows Turkey there too, which is inaccurate. Turkey stayed out of the conflict entirely. I don't want to send hate, I just want to point out some inaccurate stuff mapping.

This is an incredibly complex topic. Unfortunately, this video does not analyze this historical event from a neutral standpoint. First of all, there is barely if no mention of the Jews who were on the land for millennia and resided in what is known as the Old Yishuv. Furthermore, without careful consideration throughout the video, it is stated that zionism is a colonialist project. This quote by history professor Alexander Yakobson perfectly describes where this argument collapses: "In other words, zionism was a colonialist phenomenon in all respects and fully resembled other examples of modern colonialism apart from the fact that it was a national movement, that it was not motivated by the desire of economical gain, that it arose out of Jewish suffering, and was realized by people who may be defined as refugees, that the settlers had no colonial mother country, and that the bond with the land of Israel was part of the traditional historical identity of the Jewish people. Otherwise, it is totally colonialism." Moreover, unlike what is claimed in the video. There was never a plan by the Hagana or the Jewish administration to expel Arab Palestinians from the proposed Jewish state. The reason why Arabs fled during the 1947 war is due to their initiation of a war to destroy the self-proclaimed Jewish state. Indeed, Arab villages were destroyed during the 1947 war, but none of that would have happened if no war had taken place. The fact that many Arabs after the war stayed in Israel should be an indication. Also Jews in the West Bank and the Arab world ended up getting displaced as a result of this war. Also, why is there no mention of the deportation of Jewish refugees to camps in British controlled Cyprus during WW2 due to the white paper? This is important information that could explain why many Jews viewed the British as an enemy. The reason why this conflict has not been solved for so long has to do with the Palestinian misinterpretation of Israelis. Palestinians see Israeli Jews as Europeans with no historical connection to the land and, therefore, should be driven out to the sea and never be negotiated with. Since Israel supposedly has no right to exist from the get go. This claim that zionism is colonialism only justifies the Palestinian perception of Israelis and would make coexistence and mutual understanding between nations impossible. (Even though, most Israeli Jews today are Mizrahi. Ashkenazi, Sephardic, and Mizrahi Jews have 20 to 40 percent Samarian DNA. There is a strong Jewish cultural connection to the land and much archeological evidence of ancient Jewish civilizations on the land.) The PLO drew inspiration from the FLN's fight against France to the point where they use the same tactics. Making it too costly for the colonizer to stay. But the French left, and the Jews never did because the French had somewhere else to go, but the Jews never did. The Palestinian elite understood the Jews completely wrong. They think that Israel continues to survive because of an empire. But what they fail to grasp is that the empire kept changing. It went from the Russian empire in the 19th century, to the British empire in the early 20th century, then the Soviet empire in the mid 20th century, afterwards the French empire after the Suez crisis, and lastly it became the American empire in the late 20th century. Because the Jews sought help from different powers for their own survival, just like many 3rd world nations. The British were not always on the Jewish side, especially when they voted against the UN partition plan that enabled the Jews to have their own state. Hopefully, some of this will be considered in the next part of this series.

First of all, the zionist movement was never advocating for the exile of palestinians in the first place, some zionists promoted that idea but it didn’t reflect the movement and this video is extremely misleading. How about the simple fact that it shouldn't have happened in the first place? But one thing is true in every context, everywhere caucasians go. Death and destruction follow. They can't escape that. At first, it starts with the spreading of their Lord, Jesus Christ, with Christian or Catholic pilgrims. Then, traders, diplomats last it's the military No matter who they are, where they come from, their M.O. is the same. Conquer and expand No matter if they're European, German Irish, Russian, French, or American. In the modern day, you know them as the U.N. Which broke off and created its own subset. But this is nothing more than a ploy to capture Earth's natural resources for the wealthy. They have a subset within their own ranks to determine. Who is more worthy and pure from within the Caucasian ranks. What makes this more sad is the fact that all these other races, that are not Caucasian think they have a place at this table. And they don't. they use the people of these other countries. To gather up their natural resources and distribute them to other Caucasian nations so that they can become rich. While leaving the country that they got said riches from people broke in desolate, and this is, after they divided up the land and it's people between other Caucasian nations. And that's just the abridged version. Still factually, right.

That's not "defending yourselves" if you're killing Palestinians on their own land, to protect your own violent illegal immigrants from the people they stole from.

Ya it’s honestly fun watching people explain it but then a few days later the comments go like free Palestine 😅
@@markbisson6166Who persecuted the 'jws' in Europe and who should pay for it? The answer to both is not Palestine. Everyone can see the injustice here.
@markbisson6166 Correct, the Jewish AND NATIVE Palestinians hatred came from Europe.
Idk how this topic is edgy but ok bro
To bad he’s wrong🤷♂️
Yea man. Making a video is almost as brave as fighting s war 😂😂😂😂😂😂
'There was no Jewish or British plan to expel Arabs from the proposed Jewish state' 20:05
'Not just people but Jews were hiring Jews. Also Arabs were hiring Arabs. That's not a big surprise. Although it is made to sound as if the British imposed segregation laws, which I could not find.' 16:38
'Well, it is the author's personal opinion to state that zionism is a colonial project. There are plenty of reasons why this can not be true.' 9:56
'While it is true that the British gave military assistance to the Palmach forces of the Haganah in 1942. It is not mentioned, however, that the British stopped doing so in 1943 and attempted to disarm the Haganah. Making it sound as if the British played the main role in building the Haganah.' 24:58
Let's also not forget things that were not included in this video, which could explain things that seemed a bit sketchy.
To show so many lies and wrong fakes takes courage

You ve managed to be thorough and yet simplified. Maybe the best video on the subject I ve ever seen.
10/10
Otherwise, it is totally colonialism."
Moreover, unlike what is claimed in the video.
There is a strong Jewish cultural connection to the land and much archeological evidence of ancient Jewish civilizations on the land.)
The PLO drew inspiration from the FLN's fight against France to the point where they use the same tactics.
@jasporflex1976 first of all, Israel has every right to exist and to defend itself; it s the Palestinians who dont. Secondly, tldr _ I stopped when you said zionism is not colonialism. You need to read more and inform yourself better . Zionism goes further than just colonialism; its jewish racial supremacy. It has embedded the same racism that jewish people had suffered throughout the story.
You need to learn how to be more concive and deliver your message. Israel is a terrorist state that disregards Geneva Conventions, bombs UN buildings, hospitals, schools; accuses hamas of using human shields and guess what, IDF itself uses human shields. Israel wants to stop terrorism behaving like terrorist. The only way to stop this GENOCIDE is to provoke the international comunity to intervene.
STOP PALESTINIAN GENOCIDE.
STOP PALESTINIAN GENOCIDE.
@jasporflex1976 First of all it was all about british colonialism. And colonialism cannot be seen separately from Racial Supremacy. Secondly, zionism goes further than just colonialism; it is Jewish Racial Supremacy. They try to enforce into the Palestinians the same treatment western powers gave them all throughout history. Jewish people have close ties to colonial administration, fascism, apartheid and are used to colaborate with the exploiters. Did you know that jewish peolpe were the administrative leadership to the ghetos in Europe actively cooperating with the holocaust? They had to give their own keen to be transported to the killing camps. Further than that, the fuher himself had to expel some of the Jewish official he had on his army. The jews get mad because the Palestinians refuse to play the same roll.
And the IDF promote terrorism while acuse hamas of the same. Israel bombs UN building and kill UN personel, bombs hospitals, schools whilst accusing the hamas of using human shields and guess what IDF itself uses human shields, we ve seen a paleatinians straped to the front of a wartruck (they learned from the UK) , They placed some strategic Security offices in the middle of highly populated areas.

And NOT an accurate representation of the Jewish or even the ZIONIST movement's reaction. It was NOT a "great we're happy with this"! It was more "we'll take it because we would RATHER not have to actually kill people.

Yes, during the crusades
And even the Babylonian Exile where Jewish elites were allowed to return to the land by the Persian Emperor Cyrus the Great

I really want to thank you for all this effort, and most importantly, telling the truth, unlike most channels that support the occupation.
What occupation Israelis own that land and it belongs to the Jews the “ native “ Palestines colonised and killed anyone who was Jewish after ottomans conquest
This is absolutely not the truth. It's the Palestinians narrative. Many of the "facts" are completely false
@@zvistachEven david ben-gurion admitted that zionists started the conflict.
It's very simple
European jews wanted to colonize palestina.
According to zionist historian Benny Morris, zionists chose to accept the 1937 partition plan, so they could eventually takeover all of Palestine
my popcorn is ready.
All i can say is thank You things i care about , people take for granted the impact colonialism and racism had on the events that led to WWI &II , the subjugation of the palestinian people and the creation of the state of Isreal....
This video explained everything to me thank you 🙏
I noticed the reference to 'Israel' in a historical context where it didn't yet exist as a modern state. Historically, the land was called Palestine for centuries before the Zionist movement led to the establishment of the "Israel colonialist entity" in 1948.
Correct
There was never a Palestinian state ever
What the hell are you talking about? Even if you don’t believe in the Bible or their religion, they did live there for many many years. And they called their state Israel, so saying that that place is former Israel is not incorrect.
@@isaackurian4127 yes but before israel a larger state of palestine contoling a lot more land was present and israel was demolished and the the ottomoan empire took over which allowed all religons to be in peace in the state THEY CALLED PALESTINE look it up the ottoman emire was split up in to many states and borders from the ottoman empire is stil seen in some countries today long story short israel dosent deserve the land

The video infers that Palestine was an Islamic place prior to the creation of the Jewish state. The Jews and Muslims lived in Palestine since the Romans
Since the Romans ???
Muslims didn’t exist during Roman times …….
Your misinforming Muslims only existed after Christian’s which is like 700 years later
Arabs came a lot later then Rome
Islamic is created in 610 ad ALMOST 200 YEARS AFTER THE WESTERN ROMAN EMPIRE FELL

No Levi, it wasn't

Fun fact:
Jordan was also used to be part of British Mandatory of Palestine. 1 year before the creation of the State of Israel, Transjordan had already declared independence.

I like the animation and all. Great Work! But I feel like your videos are a bit biased. This one was no exception. If being biased was never the intention, I highly recommend you do more research into topics like the Israel-Palestine conflict before uploading anything including part 2. It will take a little longer, but trust me it'll be worth it. You will likely get attacked by both sides, but that's a sign you've made improvement. And also a sign humans are idiotic creatures when someone disagrees with them.
Can you point out the biased part? I am curious
@@raihanaji7516 Watch his Korean War videos very closely and then do your own research on what he goes on about. That's all I can say.

Sorry for the high burden
Believe me I barely watch any videos about Israeli and Palestine conflicts the comments in those videos spew crap that’s not even in history
I've read 2 history Israeli books
3 palastineans history books
Like 30 random history articles
The full united nations history report of palastine between 1917
And i can tell you this video can be summarized into one word: facts
Far from it. More like "only the facts that support my narrative covered with negative opinions against the Jews"
Most the books I read abt the holocaust and their story had them talking about Palestine and moving there using the word Palestine. So they knew people still lived there and most the authors disagreed with the Zionism
I mean 3 minutes into the video and it's already wrong in the 1900s the idea of Jewish state was only brought up essentially never it was stated they wanted to take the land from the people who were tbh not there also there are no native people from palestine the place was called by the romes when they conquered kingdom of judea the "Palestinian people" are in reality settlers that most of them came in between 1915 to 1926 there was huge migration into that land to proof that there was a french journalist who visited the land in 1852 and said he saw nothing in the land from left to right basically no people no nothing Jerusalem and the golden heights were the only populated places at that time and you can guess who were in Jerusalem it were the jews
@@yanyannolife326 not true take a look at DNA on palestinians. its all israelites. the original jews all got converted or just don't live there anymore. most moved because they werent making profit from the land

It's called population growth not by settlements and migration infact I would bet that between 1800 and 1930 more Palestines lift to other countries then the other way around
And for those who say "well gaza population is increasing since 1948 "
I will ask of them to search a simple thing
How many people were forced Into gaza since 1948 by is not ral

If you have a majority group facilitate the relations of two marginalized communities, it never ends well.
Especially if the major group was the reason the smaller ones were marginalized.
Am sorry bro but you need a fact check. alot of what you presented is a twisted version of the truth or missing (out of context). For example Jewish ownership of Palestinian land by purchase never reached more than 10% all the rest was taken by force amongst others
Look around the sources he took from

@@Shut_UpOnly from Ilan Pappé. The most factual historian alive.
(I'm completely sarcastic ofcourse.)
Building settlements in West Bank, is that land purchased too?
Oh my god, i get it now.
what do you get?
This is possibly the worst source i have seen for background of the I/P conflict, it couldn’t be more biased if they tried.
