This video is the story of the origin of the conflict between Israel and Palestine that we see to this day. We cannot understand the war between Israel and Palestine, nor how Hamas came to be, without understanding the origin of Israel itself.
We will discuss the origins of Zionism, antisemitism, the balfour declaration, the Jaffa Riots, the Palestinian Revolt, the Jewish Insurgency, the Bombing of the King David hotel, and MUCH, MUCH MORE!
Part 2 will come shortly!

It’s Always the British
always the islamists who forget holding all middle eastern christians and jews as dhimmis for over a millenia(and not even recognising alawite and yazidis right to exist) yet cry when the brits and french stopped those massacres
So I've been seeing a bit of map inaccuracies in this video, so when Britain colonized Palestine after the Ottomans feel, it was called "The British Mandate of Palestine" which includes of Israel (minus Golan Heights), Palestine, and Jordan. And in 25:09, when it shows Vichy France over Syria and Lebanon it also shows Turkey there too, which is inaccurate. Turkey stayed out of the conflict entirely. I don't want to send hate, I just want to point out some inaccurate stuff mapping.
Absolutely correct.

You're a braver person than I am by making this video
I love this channel as much as I love Oversimplified. The creator of this video told histories from both sides of the conflict and did not even sugarcoat any war crime or attrocities commited by both sides (such as attrocities commited by US and South Koreans during Korean War) , which helped me listening to the other side of the story and helped with my history research.
Keep up the good work, brother ❤
Finally someone who simplifies this conflict and gives it detail
Ya it’s honestly fun watching people explain it but then a few days later the comments go like free Palestine 😅
I think he did well except he didn't really give much detail to the fact that Jews inhabited the land forever until Rome kicked them out. Most persons act like the Palestinians has been there for all of time and the Jews have zero claim to be there. Both groups have legitimate claims.
@shanefrederick7731 The issue is that any random person from any random corner of the world can convert and become jew and then turn around and say “ give me my 5 acres and a mule” when they have 0 blood ties to that region.
@@checo8187yeah that’s not how Judaism works. In contrast to other religions that try to expand. Jews try to keep their historical roots intact. That’s why not anyone is allowed to convert. And typically the only people allowed to do that are people who are marrying a Jewish person.
@@shanefrederick7731 also according to your logic, thr natives should attack and occupy the US and the americans should allow them to. Same with Australia. The new animation style is really good!
One should keep in mind that in the early 20th century the formation of nation states and the expulsion of people from regions to create the new states was common. Look at the population exchange between Greece and Turkey for an example…
And resistance to colonizers from europe was also common
@@closetglobe.IRGUN.NW0 resistance is to be expected but eventually you have to admit you've lost. it would be asinine for native americans to try to take back the americas, for example. less absurd in palestine's case, but only barely.

Was watching over simplified and then this popped up noticeed a voice change and listened for awhile and now we are here
I love how the characters have more movement now
An interesting point I noticed. Since in 1920 Riot, Jaffa Riots, and 1929 riots, and subsequent riots, Jews always suffered more casualties (Dead and Injured), while consisting less than 20% of the population. Didn't that mean the Jewish population was being brutalized by the majority population? So the Jews have some right to defend themselves, have civil rights, and be protected by the British?
While at the same time, the open border that lets the Jews in, letting them have preferential treatment and all, in the end caused the Arab population to get disenfranchised, getting sidelined, and after a while being replaced by the Jewish population. What the Arab population does is actually try to protect themselves from being replaced by the immigrants coming to their land and taking their right.
I swear I have seen this one before, must be Déjà vu
True, this video is very biased
if you genuinely believe israel suffered more casualties than palestine in this conflict idk wtf to tell you
@@coup2824 Who said they did?
@PAIS-zz9yx good point. Jewish people was better treated in those episodes than they were in europe, And they started to buy the better pieces of land and displace the locals away. To this day we hear coming from the beacon of modern society the mantra "jews will not replace us" with those pathetic tiki torches.
I loved when he said that American evangelicals believe that sending the Jews back to Canaan they will provoke the return of Jesus or the Messiah, that part was epic.
They suffered more casualties at that time because they were a minority. A minority that wanted to take a land only for themselves because they got too afraid from racism that they became racists themselves.
I think what should have happened there is to just live in the land together your religion doesn't matter
no splitting of the land or expelling Palestinians from there houses just make Jews bulid houses next to the Palestinians with a law that Guarantee both sides rights and I think we can still do that now somehow someway
This new animation is amazing

troubles?
You ve managed to be thorough and yet simplified. Maybe the best video on the subject I ve ever seen.
10/10
This is an incredibly complex topic. Unfortunately, this video does not analyze this historical event from a neutral standpoint.
First of all, there is barely if no mention of the Jews who were on the land for millennia and resided in what is known as the Old Yishuv.
Furthermore, without careful consideration throughout the video, it is stated that zionism is a colonialist project.
This quote by history professor Alexander Yakobson perfectly describes where this argument collapses: "In other words, zionism was a colonialist phenomenon in all respects and fully resembled other examples of modern colonialism apart from the fact that it was a national movement, that it was not motivated by the desire of economical gain, that it arose out of Jewish suffering, and was realized by people who may be defined as refugees, that the settlers had no colonial mother country, and that the bond with the land of Israel was part of the traditional historical identity of the Jewish people. Otherwise, it is totally colonialism."
Moreover, unlike what is claimed in the video. There was never a plan by the Hagana or the Jewish administration to expel Arab Palestinians from the proposed Jewish state. The reason why Arabs fled during the 1947 war is due to their initiation of a war to destroy the self-proclaimed Jewish state. Indeed, Arab villages were destroyed during the 1947 war, but none of that would have happened if no war had taken place. The fact that many Arabs after the war stayed in Israel should be an indication. Also Jews in the West Bank and the Arab world ended up getting displaced as a result of this war.
Also, why is there no mention of the deportation of Jewish refugees to camps in British controlled Cyprus during WW2 due to the white paper? This is important information that could explain why many Jews viewed the British as an enemy.
The reason why this conflict has not been solved for so long has to do with the Palestinian misinterpretation of Israelis.
Palestinians see Israeli Jews as Europeans with no historical connection to the land and, therefore, should be driven out to the sea and never be negotiated with. Since Israel supposedly has no right to exist from the get go. This claim that zionism is colonialism only justifies the Palestinian perception of Israelis and would make coexistence and mutual understanding between nations impossible.
(Even though, most Israeli Jews today are Mizrahi. Ashkenazi, Sephardic, and Mizrahi Jews have 20 to 40 percent Samarian DNA. There is a strong Jewish cultural connection to the land and much archeological evidence of ancient Jewish civilizations on the land.)
The PLO drew inspiration from the FLN's fight against France to the point where they use the same tactics. Making it too costly for the colonizer to stay. But the French left, and the Jews never did because the French had somewhere else to go, but the Jews never did.
The Palestinian elite understood the Jews completely wrong.
They think that Israel continues to survive because of an empire. But what they fail to grasp is that the empire kept changing. It went from the Russian empire in the 19th century, to the British empire in the early 20th century, then the Soviet empire in the mid 20th century, afterwards the French empire after the Suez crisis, and lastly it became the American empire in the late 20th century. Because the Jews sought help from different powers for their own survival, just like many 3rd world nations.
The British were not always on the Jewish side, especially when they voted against the UN partition plan that enabled the Jews to have their own state.
Hopefully, some of this will be considered in the next part of this series.
@jasporflex1976 first of all, Israel has every right to exist and to defend itself; it s the Palestinians who dont. Secondly, tldr _ I stopped when you said zionism is not colonialism. You need to read more and inform yourself better . Zionism goes further than just colonialism; its jewish racial supremacy. It has embedded the same racism that jewish people had suffered throughout the story.
You need to learn how to be more concive and deliver your message. Israel is a terrorist state that disregards Geneva Conventions, bombs UN buildings, hospitals, schools; accuses hamas of using human shields and guess what, IDF itself uses human shields. Israel wants to stop terrorism behaving like terrorist. The only way to stop this GENOCIDE is to provoke the international comunity to intervene.
STOP PALESTINIAN GENOCIDE.
STOP PALESTINIAN GENOCIDE.
@jasporflex1976 First of all it was all about british colonialism. And colonialism cannot be seen separately from Racial Supremacy. Secondly, zionism goes further than just colonialism; it is Jewish Racial Supremacy. They try to enforce into the Palestinians the same treatment western powers gave them all throughout history. Jewish people have close ties to colonial administration, fascism, apartheid and are used to colaborate with the exploiters. Did you know that jewish peolpe were the administrative leadership to the ghetos in Europe actively cooperating with the holocaust? They had to give their own keen to be transported to the killing camps. Further than that, the fuher himself had to expel some of the Jewish official he had on his army. The jews get mad because the Palestinians refuse to play the same roll.
And the IDF promote terrorism while acuse hamas of the same. Israel bombs UN building and kill UN personel, bombs hospitals, schools whilst accusing the hamas of using human shields and guess what IDF itself uses human shields, we ve seen a paleatinians straped to the front of a wartruck (they learned from the UK) , They placed some strategic Security offices in the middle of highly populated areas.
Israel wants to have the cake and eat it.
Israel disrespects the Geneva Conventions it s signatory. And war crimes are imprescritibles.
You need to read more and inform yourself better.
STOP PALESTINIAN GENOCIDE!

Important to note the western wall is a purely Jewish significant site. The Muslim claim to al aqsa is rooted on the Jews making it holy before them anyway. Muslims have no interest in the western wall as a holy site and the Jordanians used it for sheep gathering when they occupied it
that's really interesting, I always thought the arabs were exaggerating their religious significance of the western wall. and found it unequal for the arabs to 'own' it as well.
The Western Wall is significant, however it’s significant because Jews aren’t allowed by religious leaders to pray on the Temple Mount. The Western Wall is the closest point to the believed Holy of Holy’s which is somewhere on the Temple Mount.

You are making the incredible mistake of thinking zionism is about arabs. The focus was on getting legitimacy and land from the britiah who controled Israel, not the arabs, it was done mostly by purcheaing land, and partly by taking it when the arabs refused the 2 state offer and attacked Israel. The Arabs themselves, were never the focus, and zionism was not racist toward them. It wasn't even clonialist. Which country is Israel colony of? If you cared to teach history, try not to reflect it through your own biases.
Hertzl literally refered to his project as a colonial venture in one of his letters and many early Zionists refered to what they were doing using the term colonialism. And when you do colonialism angry natives attacking you is the reaction you will get.
@@AhmedJaisam here I thought You just wanted to teach history. Clearly you are not.
Hertzl called it "colonial" because Israelis made "colonies" in Israel, but that is not the same as being a "colonial state". If the point was to replace the natives, there wouldn't be a peace offer before Israel even existed. Which is what YOU refer too when you say "colonial". The clear truth is that the arab population never had a state and often didn't own the land they were on. Jews in Israel had every legal and ethical right to be there. And as much as you'd like it to be different, Israel is here to stay.
israel is colonialism
“Zionist colonization must either be terminated or carried out against the wishes of the native population. This colonization can, therefore, be continued and make progress only under the protection of a power independent of the native population - an iron wall, which will be in a position to resist the pressure to the native population. This is, in toto, our policy towards the Arabs…” Vladimir Jabotinsky, The Iron Wall, 1923.
"Without colonization, Zionism is nothing but a castle in the air," Theodor Herzl
israel is colonialism in the way that its europeans with knowledge and power migrate into a region thats basically empty and the natives stand no chance in opposing their oppresors
if zionism isnt colonialism, then why did the zionists turn to the brittish to establish the israeli state?
israel is a colony of the western powers under the jewish state umbrella, it has no place being there.
all colonies are catastrophic for the indigenous populations living there, this is due to the reality that colonists, will always be stronger then the people they colonize, because if they werent they would have been kicked out by natives already.
arabs refusing the 2 state solution is a completely expected act, because why would arabs accept the legitimization of western land theft to establish a colony parroting brittish/western interest? why would arabs agree to have their land taken away that was promised to them by the brittish? why would the arabs, which revolted againts the ottoman empire foolishly accept a agreement in which they lose the land they fought to get from the brittish? seems quite ridicilous right?
zionism isnt about arabs, you are right, its about establishing a colony on arab land inhabited by mostly arabs
@@sdfrtyhfds Bro why are you lying? Palestinians were literally thrown out of their homes for the Jewish immigrants to settle. I am not talking about 1920s,30s or 40s. I am talking about what is happening TODAY! There is a video of a guy literally saying "If I don't steal it, someone else will" to an old Palestinian lady. And this is just an incident which has been captured. If this is not settler colonialism, Then what is it?
@@noormohammad6227 The video came with a context, that they don't show you.... The context being the jews bought that piece of land in ottoman times (1875, the grave of Shimon haTzadik) and were thrown out when the jordanians came and occupied it and gave that land to palestinians. After years of leagal distputes the jews got that land back and now are accused of stealing it.
5:21 you keep saying Palestinian. It’s Palestinian Arab. Palestinian Jews was a term back before Israel was established. Israel is simply the native name for the land and was renamed instead of using the Greek name. The reason Arab Palestinians continue using Palestine as the name of the land is because the Arab names for the land mean “Lower Syria” which is way to close to “Syria” in Arabic and other similar reasons as well.

Look at the death toll on Isnotreal’s side versus Palestine’s and tell me both sides are suffering equally. Please.
