    I have been using my Playstation original controllers way back to PS2 or PS3 extensively and for long playtime but havent had any stick drift. I think it comes to the perticular models of controllers which develops stick drift.

    • @GearsAndTech
      @GearsAndTech  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They used different sticks that are known to cause drift sooner

      The PS3 controllers came with hall effect sticks in them from the factory. That's why they never had issues. Sony and many other manufactures went to the potentiometer sticks because they're cheaper. I'm sure it also helps their sales on controllers when people have to buy a new controller every few months.

    I have a question. Aren't you supposed to adjust it? Because it's not the same as A. Regular thumbstick, so you can get proper.Dead center?

    Hello from Estonia, I love your videos, been watching couple of years now. I have the same problem, my Besavior controller developed a stick drift - I ordered new Ginfull hall effect sticks and I'm planning to replace them. But I do have a question - I read from the beloader forum that some people have a problem with L2 and R2 not working and pressing R3 will not be read at all after the swap. Did you experience this problem or did all the buttons work correctly?

    • @GearsAndTech
      @GearsAndTech  26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      My besavior didn't have the l3 and r3 ribben cable installed. My guess is that is the problem. If you do install hall effect, remove that ribbon cable and you should be good.

    I can recommend you if you solder more often Weller WE 1010 or ERSA RDS80, then you don't have so much trouble unsoldering the sticks, because the China soldering stations are only ok for simple work like tinning cables, etc

    V5 Ginfull are the best currently. They are better than brand new stock ALPS potentiometer joysticks. Lower error rate in the circularity test. They use bigger magnets and different shape. Old versions of hall-effect joysticks use small rectangular magnets.

    I've done this mod to almost a dozen controllers. 3 in my own home for me and my kid's controllers, and then I've fixed up controllers for my kid's friends. Is it easy? No it's not. Especially if you don't have an the right tools and such to do it efficiently.i highly recommend using some low melt solder on all the joints, and a precision soldering heat gun to free up the old stick. Without that, it can take forever.
    But there's one big payoff here. You will NEVER have stick drift again. Ever. Once it's done, that controller shouldn't need to be opened again unless it's something else that needs fixed, modded, or replaced(like a battery, buttons or triggers)
    The calibration technique is a little awkward, but I wouldn't say it's hard, or that it sucks. It can take a few minutes to get the sensor aligned just perfect, but again, once it's done, is done for good. Should never have to touch it again. The magnet doesn't ever touch the surface of the metal sensor. No friction, so there's nothing to ware out like in the stock potentiometer sticks that use the carbon faces.
    The problem with the dual sense is that Sony is being cheap and using cheap parts to get their product out the door. Most controllers last 3 to 6 months before one of the sticks go bad. I have replaced just the carbon wiper plates to fix a controller, and that is much easier to do than replacing the entire stick. You do not have to mess with calibrating anything doing it this way either, but it'll eventually ware out again just like before.
    The PS3 used hall effect sticks in the dual shock 3 controller, and that's why they never had any issues. Hall effect sensor sticks are superior to potentiometer sticks.

    Damn amateur. didn't even calibrate the circle. Through ds4 tools this is done in 30 seconds, but no.... And also don't forget to tell me that with hall sensor sticks, Besavior will not calibrate the triggers on initial setup. So you can't put a set of petals on if you already have magnetic sticks.
