Nice video, I recently did this on my sons ps5 controller and would recommend to anyone doing this to go for Hall effect sticks over replacing the sensor on the original sticks, for the extra 8 points to desolder, it's worth it.
You were clean, clear and concise along with quick on explaining what you were going to do. I don't even have a ps5 but I liked your tutorial. I've subscribed, keep this up! Subs will come!
So, I gotta' admit, this was my first time soldering and I managed to accomplish the task, but only with your guidance! That being said, trying to get the old solder out was a nightmare! I wonder if I didn't have my iron hot enough or is it just that tricky without the electric suction device?
@@Kpadizzlefizzle That's amazing for your first time soldering! You should be proud of yourself🥳 The solder can be tricky to remove, especially on certain holes which are connected to ground as they require more heat. What temp did you set your iron to and what shape soldering tip were you using?
If you're gonna go through all this trouble. I can't believe you wouldn't put a hall effect gimble in. That way you don't have to worry about doing this again on the same controller.
@@jtorres670 Generally my solder iron is always set to 400c. Some of the pins on the sensors are ground pins which means they can suck up more heat so in that case I would use more heat, or try mixing in some low melt solder might help
@@chicener8583 I've had them that long know I don't quite remember! I think it was from one of my suppliers here in Ireland but I'm sure you can get the same ones on Amazon or eBay
@@Jestar_076 Yes I believe when no joystick is connected the controller reads the stick in the top left corner so probably something isn't connected correctly
@@ryansrepairslk seems about right, I snipped the other stick potentiometers and gives the same reading. Before I tried resoldering it did move to top left and right. So I'll check my soldering. Thanks!
@@pexz Unfortunately not. You can use a windows app for it or the built in calibration feature on the Xbox itself to recalibrate the center points and range.
Damn it, cut it cut it cut it cut it 😂 Thankfully it's just a motor so it shouldn't make too much difference. The motor will spin the other way but will still vibrate the same
I recently changed both of the joystick modules on two controllers and didn’t know of the calibration website. Thank you!
No problem! Glad it helped

Where did you buy the potentiometer replacements?
Only after seeing this comment now, so sorry! I get my replacement potentiometers from eBay or AliExpress

I believe it's a 75w but can't remember off hand. I can check again tomorrow when I'm back at work

If you use a large soldering iron tip and leaded it low melt solder you should be fine

Does the calibration site work if I replace the joysticks with Hall effect ones?
@@zohaibnajam7698 I haven't used hall effects sensors without a driver board yet but afaik it works fine
For some reason the ginfull stick I replaced is pointing left upwards all the time. Is this due to the pins not soldered correctly?

the red wire of right haptic motor should be soldered onto the bottom point. 😂 left one is good

🎉 No worries. Btw, ur craftsmanship is awesome.
Question, so I’m able to use a ps4 potentiometer on ps5 controller?
It seemed to work for me yes. But you'll have to calibrate them using the website I linked to in the description
I took mine out of my ps4 controller and into my ps5 one and it fixed it but I didn’t calibrate it as I had no idea you had too
If you're reusing a factor sensor it's possible you won't need to recalibrate it, but it's just something I always do when replacing sensors
Solder wire is 0.2 or 0.5 ?
