I typically do it while listening to music, or I detail my car while my friend does his. The thing is, like anything, you have to lose yourself in what you're doing. Do you really need to use a special solution to use the clay bar? Can you just use water since it's to reduce the friction of the clay bar?

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! If you have Deionized water then you can use it as lubricant because it contains no ions. When you use regular water, it will drag and cause marring and scratching onto the paint. Water will cause your clay to deteriorate while using it. Clay Luber is very slick and helps the clay bar glide without causing scratches and swirls. Thanks for watching and thanks for being part of the Chemical Guys family!

      @ChemicalGuys  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Here at Chemical Guys, we feature all the products you need to polish your car and get it back to like new condition. Rock chips require a bit more than polishing, though. Rock chips go beyond your clear coat and chip away at the actual paint, revealing the metal underneath. To fix these, you will need to take steps that fall more under the category of body work than car care, so we will direct you to your nearest body shop or paint store. • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Tarek, that's a great question. Although the Clay Bar and Clay Block achieve the same results, they do have some key differences. The Clay Bar is the original product, the Clay Block is synthetic clay bar that is a newer product. The Clay Block only has one "hardness", whereas the Clay Bar is much more versatile with four different levels of hardness. The Clay Bar must be thrown away when dropped on the floor, whereas the Clay Block can simply be washed and reused. You will also get much more uses out of the Clay Block when used properly. You can achieve pretty much the same results with either product, it just comes down to personal preference. Glad to have you part of the Chemical Guys family, Tarek, and stay tuned for new videos headed your way soon!

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Rhonda, depends on how bad the clear coat is oxidized. If it isn't too far gone, then you might be able to polish it. However, if you took it to a professional they said there is nothing you can do about it, then there is nothing you can do about it. Once your clear coat is gone, it's gone and you will need a repaint. Remember for next time, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Use a premium CG wax or sealant to protect your car's fragile paint from the harsh elements to prevent damage on your newly painted hood in the future. Thanks for watching Rhonda, and make sure to subscribe to learn all the tricks to keeping your car looking its best for the longest!

    Polishing compound works just as good

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      What's up Angelo, Polishing this car would've been extra work, and the scratches were very fine. By claying the car, we removed the imbedded contaminants from the surface of the paint, which made the surface smooth, and filled the minor imperfections with the leveling technology of the EZ Crème Glaze. EZ Crème's formula comes with built in gloss enhancers that brought out the Kia's deep blue paint. For this car, a light polish like V32 with a medium hex logic pad would've removed the mild scratches and swirls seen in the video.

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! Clay will remove any light contamination, if the bird dropping is very superficial, we recommend Slick Finish Cleaner Wax. It contains micro-abrasives that will break down the bird dropping stain. If the bird dropping has already etched into the surface of the paint, we recommend polishing it with a compound or polish. Try clay first, maybe that will take if off. Thanks for watching and thanks for being part of the Chemical Guys family!

      Thanks for watching the video. The entire process should take about an hour or so to complete. • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ryan, thank you for watching our video, Nick wanted to demonstrate how to clay a vehicle and how to apply a glaze with a dual action polisher. The direction you clay in doesn't really matter as long as you move in straight lines, which is a key in any aspect of paint protection, washing, correction etc. If you use enough clay luber, you shouldn't be getting any marring, however, if you use the most aggressive clay bar, it will leave some kind of marring. We appreciate your comments, and we hope you continue to watch our videos. Nick actually detailed the Miata that you see on the lifts, he used a waterless wash to remove a blanket of dust that completely covered the car, it's been up there for longer than anyone can remember. I left you a link to the video below so you can check it out. Stay tuned for more great videos Ryan.

    I run a mobile detailing surface and have been looking for a solid glaze product. is there an ideal temperature range to apply this? we will be operating in as low as 40 degrees and during the summer, hit 95 degrees. hoping to see if this glaze is what we need!

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mark, thanks for taking the time to reach out to us. All applications work best when used in the correct conditions, The best time to apply any type of protective, or cosmetic coating is when the vehicle's paint is cool to the touch. The best surface temperature range for applying compounds, polishes, waxes and paint sealants is in a range of 60 degrees to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Generally speaking, extreme temperatures, both cold and hot will make any product and/or procedure more difficult than working in a temperature range from 60 to 80 degree. The best conditions for using compounds, polishes, waxes and paint sealants on automotive paints would be in a cool place, out of direct sunlight, in a surface temperature range between 60 degrees and 80 degrees Fahrenheit, with comfortable to low humidity and with a light breeze to create the perfect conditions for detailing your car's finish.

    Awesome video. im just a little bit curious of, what if i do those methods and then use Glass Coating does it bond well with each other? i mean is it possible that i could maintain this kind of Gloss and Shine with a glass coating? Thank you for your response. 😁👊

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Aldrian, the glass coating should bond just fine to a nice clean surface. Always start by washing, then claying if you need to, polish the vehicle to remove imperfections, have the glass coating applied, wait about 24 hours, and apply a coating of glaze, wax, and a sealant. Here's some suggestions: Glozzworkz, Butter Wet Wax, or Extreme Top Coat, and Jet Seal. I think you'll love the results, my car looked amazing after using those.

    What’s your recommendation for the best product to remove pine sap?

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there, thanks for stopping by. We could recommend a few different products such as The Bug and Tar Heavy Wash, Nonsense Diluted up to 15:1, or using the Butter Wet Wax. If the sap has been nesting on your paint for too long, it will stay in the paint. You'll want to dilute the solution 6:1 in a secondary spray bottle. Butter Wet Wax has some really powerful oils that can break down some really sticky substances. Last thing you could try is using a clay bar to rub the sap out, make sure to use clay luber so that you don't create any marring. You should definitely apply wax and sealant after you get the sap out so the sap cannot embed itself into the paint.

      If it's pretty deep in there, you may need to polish it out, you have to get these things out quickly or else they will stain the paint permanently. You could possibly try using some Iso Propyl alcohol and see if that removes it. Good luck buddy, hope it's not too severe.

    Does a clay really make a big difference, or can you not just wash it out?

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Johnny,
      The clay bar makes a whole world of difference because its the final line of getting rid of stubborn contaminants before a polish/glaze/sealant/wax. The clay is what restores your paint to feel smooth-as-glass by removing embedded dirt, pollution, brake dust, water spot minerals, industrial fallout, and more.
