2013 Honda Accord update 145,000 miles and rising only regular Maintence Honda for life!!!!:)
Honda is back!!! Great review. I have been driving and testing this car for over a month and its one of the best Honda has ever built.
Really enjoy a good old group test and the videos on this channel have been great this week!
that was some of the best editing ive ever seen in my life. it was so smooth lol
For me the Accord looks most appealing--I like its more hunkered down look, and while it is not exciting, I find it totally handsome, balanced and well-trimmed- and unpretentious.
4th place Passat 2.5 SE, 3rd place Altima 2.5 SV, 2nd place EcoBoost Fusion SE, 1st place Accord EX
i love my 2013 altima. great price for a great car!
Ford are great when new after 50k you wish that you bought a Honda
Say that again! A honda is barely broken in at 100,000 miles!

u are a wise person well said
Mikel Hossyin I love my accord and plan on having it atleast 10 years hope it holds up and stays looking good.

Just sold my 99 taurus with 153k on it. Sure, she was definitely dying at the end, but I was not easy on her. Any car will be reliable, it just depends how you maintain it. The again, if you only care about an idiot proof car that you don't need to maintain, you should go with a Toyota.
For everyone asking why various cars weren't in this test: most of these four are brand new and just came out this year. This is their first comparison (Fusion, Accord, Altima). The Passat is not, but they brought it into this comparison because it had won the previous comparison. They wanted to see how it would do compared to the three brand new models. The Optima, Sonata, and Camry were not new for this model year and they hadn't won previous comparison tests.
I own a accord myself love it, no complaints whats so ever!
That’s just the 4-cylinder too, the V6 with VTEC is quite fast. I drive the EX-L model, highest end. Basically this car on steroids.
great review, really helped me in selecting a car. Love the fact that Ford is coming back, but I'm going with the Accord. (Ford's 1.6 is too small)
Between my dad and I we've owned Volkswagens (multiple jettas with a similar 5 cylinder to the passat), multiple accords of different generations, and multiple camrys of different generations, and the reliability and cost of repairs have been incredibly significant when comparing Toyota and Honda to Volkswagen. And we also do many repairs ourselves, and the repairs on the volkswagens were indeed 3 times more difficult. They're not 3 times more reliable, but they're not 3 times the cost either.
I just sold my 2008 Accord (my 5th Honda) and never had to top off oil in it. In fact, I never had a problem with any of my Honda Vehicles other than normal wear and tear items. When I read stories like yours I can't help but wonder what people do to their vehicles..
I usually don't judge a car by the amount of recalls, but in this case if an engine has the potential of catching fire, it is a BIG deal.
Kudos to Honda on finally getting their act together, it's good to see them back in the game.
That fusion interior is just badass.. looks like something out of a starship.. wayyy ahead of the others in styling..
I'm a Ford guy, but I'll say this review is just about right. The new Honda Accord IS a very good looking sedan.
The other 3 say " hey look at me I am completely dead inside, I work in a cubicle and am just a a small cog in the machine." The Fusion has style it looks great and it sends a statement that you are not the most boring person on the planet.
I loved the accord sport i would of gotten one but the dealership i went to didnt have it in modern steel mettallic and i was lookin for a bit more power and torque. Im happy for u and ur accord have fun with your accord cuz this years model is one amazing car :)
I want these guys to test these cars in New England, in the days I visited my brother in Rhode Island, those rutty roads would eat a car alive. I want to see the x-rays of the spines for the guys hounding for super stiff cars. Those roads look nicer than any I've driven on around here.
Ford car have improved immensely. I rent about 25 cars a year and get to drive pretty much get what I want. The previous Fusion shocked me with its nicely handling and relatively quiet ride. So don't knock Ford. However, I have actually been testing these cars over the last few months. I fell for the Sonata's cool shape, then drooled at the Kia Optima which I think still looks good. Drove the new Nissan when it came out. But will buy the Accord. My 1990 Accord lasted at 307,000 miles.
Love how they say nothing bad about the Honda and notice the music playing when they talk about it lol. Honda paying them for this?
To add to the argument that someone posted earlier, manufacturers recall cars to PREVENT future safety problems. The fact that Honda recalls more cars and loses money by doing so shows that they know what they're doing and they fix their cars before they become a problem. Hence they are more reliable. This goes for any manufacturer that recalls cars really.
yea the car is amazing i love all the cool gadgets they took off the acura lineup and put them on the new accord. Over all i would recommend this car because of reliability, looks, performance, fuel economy, and all the new safety and other cool new technologies.
I have driven all these cars and I like the Altima the best followed by the passat
you're thinking of an old test - i was referring to the issue that just came out this month which had the newest generation of all the cars.
the rankings from last to first were malibu, camry, nissan, fusion, accord, passat
Haha, they are. By the end of November a refreshed Civic will go on sale. The front grill will look similar to the Accord's, it will receive projector beam headlights, new tail lights, and a new interior with better materials.
Fusion needs more power and a better rear.. but Honda did step their game up. I agree here.
I don't understand why all reviewers claim that 2013 Accord is quiet. I just bough it couple of weeks ago but if there is one feature that I'm not crazy about, it is road noise. It is less loud than my Mustang that it replaced but my 2010 F150 is much quieter at 70mph than accord. I like that car but there are many things that I likes better on some of my other cars (like seats, road noise, window locking mechanism etc.)
Make no mistake, the 2013 Honda Accord IS the best car here. It's so good, I wouldn't be surprised if it won car of the year
New 2014 Mazda 6 looks good too, though I'm typically not a Mazda fan
I actually have a Subaru...my next one will be one as well
Toyota's are so tastelessly made that I just can see having a friend drive one, let alone driving one myself!
uhh i don't know if you've heard but Ford has put out a recall on over 30,000 vehicles affected by this, 3-4 cases have already been reported of engine fires. Ford has advised not driving the new Escape or Fusion models with the ecoboost engine for now until you've gotten the fix.
Was the Fusion tested with the 1.6 ecoboost or the 2.0 ecoboost? And if it was the 1.6 did you not get the 2.0 because it would have made it too expensive for this comparison test?
Ford certainly has the very fashionable cars
Well in all fairness to Toyota, they have been significantly more reliable than any other company (minus Honda) producing cars, and have made them easy to work on and maintain for a great number of years. You can't say that about Ford or Volkswagen. Props to them for finally catching up with the Japanese in this segment, but they've long been battling from behind.
i'm proud of Honda! I've been a Honda fanboy for as long as I can remember, and accords practically run in my blood. glad to see that they are earning their name yet again!
Totally agree! Honda accord is by far, at least for me, who has driven other brands, the best car in this section, it ia a drem driving a Honda Accord, I love it!!
It's no surprise to me that Honda won this comparo. Honda and Toyota make the best cars in the world as far as I'm concerned. Honda were caught sleeping lately and the competition caught up. Now that they're back to "competing", zoom, straight to the top. Congratulations to Ford on a great piece with the new Fusion. I'm glad to see America making something great in this segment.
Thanks God we have people like you, otherwise our service would be empty :)
it makes no sense that honda would take the lead in the powertrain category considering the vast array of great powertrains available for the Jetta. The TDI Passat in particular is impressive.
Yes against the previous generation Altima / Camry / & Accord & Fusion. And all four of the cars mentioned were in their last years of production for those models so they were all outdated.
me as a Mazda fan surely enjoy good handling and performance. While Camry is always tag by us "car guys" as a boring car, I do amazed by how smooth and comfortable a camry is. (My fd has a Hybrid Camry) I've driven it, although I can't see myself owning one, I think it's one of the best in class for the majority of buyers who cares about comfrot n refinement.
the 2013 accord as if was made by a swiss watchmaker refined, solid, comfortable with quality fit and finish inside out. i traded my 2012 accord which i had bought in august with 900miles,that should tell you something about the new gen accord that i'm either crazy or the 2013 is just that good or both. great job to the guys in ohio!!!!!
The Accord is mostly built in America with American parts. In fact, Uncle Sam considered it a domestic product, not an import.
The new Camry came fifth in Car and Driver's last midsize comparison test while the Passat returned because it came first.
Actually, the new Fusion is not wholly American. The aesthetic designs were performed by Ford Europe consisting primarily of German and British designers. Vehicle development was performed in the United States and the majority of the engineering work was performed by Ford of Mexico in Hermosillo which was won several awards. As far as I know, the 2.5 liter and hybrid models are made in Mexico, the 1.6 and 2.0 in the USA.
The new fusion looks badass , that front grill !!!!
and by the way, honda and toyota had a good run in this country, Its time to pass the torch
I rented the 2012 Fusion in Hawaii for 2 weeks and it made me miss my Accord. Yes. Ford has improved, but, they still have a ways to go. The my Ford Touch/Synch SUCKS. I test drove the new Fusion last week and it does handle beautifully, but, the car couldn't get out of its own way on the interstate.. I also test drove the 2013 Accord and I loved the V6. Honda will win my business in the next few weeks as I shop for my 2013 Accord.
The new FORD Fusion is a beautiful car. Well done.
Test drove the Accord yesterday....what a let down. It felt like driving my 05 Accord. Just a boring old person car. The Altima feels a lot more peppy and fun to drive. Still not sold on CVT on either car though.
Basically, what MT essentially say in that comparo is that the "fun to drive" factor is the most important factor to them; that's why the Passat was ranked 1st and the Accord 2nd. And apparently, the "boring" design of both the interior and exterior of the Passat is a plus for them because it's gonna "age" well. (Hummm, we usually hear a different tune when it's Honda). Anyway, Passat is #1 because it's fun to drive for them, despite slow acceleration and average fuel economy.
Hondas are always great in an engineering standpoint, what they need to improve on is style particularly the new civic.
no i wish i got the touring but touring only has couple more options which i didnt really need like navi, and active cruise control which costs the 2500 more i think. But mine comes with LED DRL which are really cool but for the 34k i spent on mine i got 8 year/ 100,000 mile warranty
Its good to hear that Honda is staying true to its roots, but where the hell is the S2000 or Accord Type R. Anyways I love my 2002 Accord V6. Still a lot of fun :)
Hope they make a fusion sport, that would be sweet.
next year the Passat will win, it will have sport suspension as an option, the 2.5 will be replaced with a 180hp 1.8 Turbo. It will also have an R-Line package available. Right now I would still have the Passat TDI or V6
In Canada, it's illegal to sell a vehicle over MSRP. I'm amazing to hear that this happens in America.
They are the are stopping the 9th gen (2012). And updating it for next year. I've seen the 2013 Civic and it is a major improvement over the 2012 one.
well I guess everyone has a unique experience but in my experience hondas and toyotas run for longer without difficulty, are easy to repair, and hold their value better than any other manufacturer. and imo the resale value factor is hard to ignore. But yes, maybe as purely a car to drive, no that they're not necessarily superior, but I rest easy every time I go on a long trip in my camry because I know it's never gonna break down on me because it's been well maintained and bullet proof.
I'd like to drive the road this was shot on. I assume somewhere in SoCal. So C&D, where was it shot?
2013 accord american workmanship at it's best. materials quality, fit and finish are first rate and much more comfortable seats but with a little more bumpy ride compared to the last gen accord.
Is the Passat made in Chattanooga,TN? I might be wrong!
Funny you guys are talking about recalls. Im on my way to pk up my expedition because of that recall in 2005. Had problem fixed but problem showed up again and called Ford Corp and they said they will not cover the cost. Because of this I am seriously looking into Honda for my next car, I love my expedition but wonder if the Fusion is any good. So far I like what I see but very skepitcal because of my dealings with recall situation.
Honda Accord won because the big Gun " Camry" wasn't included. I am very surprised they didn't include Camry. And for the record I have owned 4 honda's , so I am not being biased.
Too bad we did not have the new Fusion at Foxboro. I suspect it would have been the top contender.
Yea they are really cool but it sucks how it only is standard on touring model not the v6 ex-l :(
It's hard to believe how, compared to even three years ago, how much better cars get. Every car here is at least very good. It really depends on what you're looking for. If you like a germanic sporty sedan, go with Fusion or Passat. If you can do with dull but efficient, Altima is your choice. Nobody could go wrong with the overall package that is the Accord.
All I can say is thank you honda! For remembering who u really r, and proving everyone u know what ur doing! The accord is easily the best here! And the best in the class! Good thing too bec the old one, as much as I hate to say, was slipping
Where`s the Mazda 6, Kia Optima, Hyundai Sonata, Toyota Camry, and Chevy Malibu?
Damn, I wish Ford had some more power in that Fusion because it sure looks great.
2.2 240 hp/275 tq
Is it odd that Camry has never won any comparison test, but it is always the best seller?
Can you believe they make the hondas taillights like the 09 Hyundai genesis sedans ... It looks so similar.
Honda is the King. My 2007 Honda accord hybrid has 124000 mile with zero problem. Changed the rear brake pad once at above 110000 miles.
After 124000 miles the car drives like brand new or even better, like the engine is getting better , not older.
Honda give quality for the the money, Camry is vanilla to drive, and cheap reliable but for spare parts.
1:51 Can CAR and Driver explain how the Nissan Altima magically transforms into a Ford Fusion around the bend?
How much does the shapeshifting feature cost?
2013 Honda Accord is also built here in OHIO, USA.
Well I give you the fact that overall, they might be a little more reliable and that's perfectly fine if you only use the car as a mean of transportation but to me, a car has to make me feel good in some way when I drive it and I'm sure you agree that a Camry never does that
and that gets me back to my first comment, these tests are purely about the feel, so the Camry has no place in such a test!
Does anyone knows where did they film this video?
tahoe area
why the heck is the audio in this video so quiet?
I agree with everything you've mentioned! Especially so called "bland" design language.
lol Nice !! what model do you have
The new accord looks ok, but why so much praise? Whoever said it looks like a Hyundai genesis... The back totally does. The Camry.. I liked my old one, but the quality of toyotas has gone down... They really need to step up their game with contenders like these.
They're both beautiful to me. Better than the 2013 Toyota Camry and Chevrolet Malibu.
The new Honda Accord is really great looking and finally happy to say again "Id buy a Honda Accord"
however, the sales numbers say otherwise, and the resale value and reliability are still at the top of the class, perhaps only challenged by the Accord.
Volkswagen Passat and Ford Fusion are the best
Did they pay you and how much
That Accord is so beautiful!
It feels like you guys are going to fall asleep any minute. I don't remember watching a car video where reviewers were so uninterested in the subject.
When you're comparing four things, stop saying "one of the best."
Highly doubt that every single part is 100% made in the US. Nevertheless, as long as quality and value are there it doesn't matter what brand it is or where it is built. That is what consumers (at least I do) look for before spending my hard earned money.
Not sure what they were thinking when they drove the Accord or if Honda made sure to make that test car extra special for them. I had a 2008 EXL V6 Accord. Bought it blindly because I had faith in Honda. What a let down it was. I thought about trading it in for a 2013 Accord. They let me borrow one for a week. It was no better than the 08. Sorry Honda. Went with a 2013 Fusion Titanium instead.
I think its a little hard to be excited when you're lugging around family sedans with puny 4 cylinder engines.
I love that Ford Mondeo you guys have got...
Keep your breath held; you guys in Europe will be getting this Fusion as your new Mondeo soon enough.
Also, the Mondeo in EU is considered a premium saloon; the Fusion can't even be optioned with goodies like adaptive HIDs & LED headlamps present on your Titanium X models.
I was being sarcastic. And I am not european.
F6HemiCharger
I should have caught that after I noted that Europeans would have little idea what a HEMI or a Charger even is...
Curse me for being 1/2 awake when typing comments. Nice one.
ahhh hellllooo, where is the camry???? it deserves to be here since it's the best-selling car.
I like the fusion...next gen compared to the other three models....
Did not like the term "poverty pack" referring to the lowest model trim. Pretty negative term. Why not just call it the cheap trim or basic. You make it sound like only poor people can afford that trim
Enr1997 yeah, that's the point
Ford offers more engine choices then any of these cars. They chose the volume engine for the fusion as they did with the other sedans.
