I've owned a 13 Accord for 3 months now so let me share some of my experiences. Really I find the touchscreen useful just because it provides a clean look to the dashboard.. otherwise its not much better than buttons, also it is useful to see your stations. As for the late watch camera.. it's extremely useful and convenient. it's not weird like this reviewer says, the view it gives you is the same as if you were looking at your rear view mirror, except it's symmetrical with your left side mirror
i personally own the 2011 accord exl v6 and i love it and we jus recently got the 2013 accord sport trim...there is a big difference in how they feel (mainly due to engines) but also you can tell tht the new accord is less fatiguing like Cooley said and looks sharper in my opinion
Hi Brian Cooley this is the first time I post on your videos. I have to admit they were funny and very helpful eventhough I am not trying to buy a car currently because the information you gathered on your videos give me deeper understanding about cars on the market. I will however payoff my car in a few years and search for a new car. If you still make videos like this, I'm sure I will make the best decision and never have to regret a second in my life about my car. Thank you.
I don't understand all the insults written here. I have a 2013 Honda Accord. It does its job: good hwy economy, realiable, etc. I don't particularly like the car, but I know it's a very good, solid car.
Just bought a new Accord LX the other day. Picks up quite quickly for a 4-pot. The CVT is actually livable and the handling is good so far. I've liked it a lot. Honda seems to have rebounded from the last generation.
the problem with other manufacturers are the added features. I like hondas way of introducing features into higher trim levels. When I go to mazda or nissan they always pair their base model car with navigation and charge the same or near the same price as hondas trim level with navi. With that you get a car with no leather, no auto climate control, and no alloy wheel, but you get navi. I test drove the 2013 accord 6speed and it is great. Might buy one soon.
There are two errors stated in this video. 1 that EX-L or better trim comes with Navigation. I have this exact car and it doesn't come with Navigation. That's a separate option on my trim level. And 2 that if you get the navigation trim, the center radio comes as a touch screen. I have the touchscreen and don't have navigation.
Well, the reading of texts aloud is included and probably a good idea. And the new crash avoidance systems that companies like Volvo have developed seem to be effective. According to statistics, the XC60 with that system has a 20% lower collision rate among small SUV's. But, the point still stands that all the infotainment systems that have touch screen based everything or small buttons (unlike Honda) are distracting and ergonomically stupid.
i'm in my 20s and i'd by the accord if it looked like the new mazda6, accord is not just more middle aged ppl. my first car was a 2004 honda and i still think its the best looking accord ever made
For some reason I really noticed the lost headroom in this Accord. Perhaps it's because I went from an '09 Civic and then now an '08 CR-V so my driving position is now quite upright as opposed to when I had my Civic. I found myself touching hair brushing against the headliner when I checked it out at the dealer. Aside from that, it's a great improvement over the outgoing model.
Ask me. I traded a 2012 camry se v6 for a Honda Sport and I love it. Camry SE has awesome power but very poor driving dynamics. Accord is agile, balanced with great MPG. Nothing beats it as a daily driver. The car has a great built. Just check the door and how they close. Reminds you of upscale German cars.
First of all, I'm glad you replied. Although I don't know your gender or your age, the definition of something that would make sense remains unchanged. If I'm not mistaken, you said that I am, "too accuracy and detail oriented to the point where you don't even have a poetic sense anymore". However, we are talking about a video where cars are being evaluated, tested and experienced to help people make the right decision. You called Brian Cooley an idiot because you know you can type anything
Best family sedan you can buy!! Best resale, most reliable, best visibility, most fun to drive! Not the overstyled ford fusion or hyundai sonata, not the boring camry...the accord is the benchmark
I think Honda cars are really nice because they're easy to maintain and have no problems. I have a CR-V and the only things I had to fix is probably the paint job. I personally wish Honda made more attractive cars because even though it's basically the most reliable brand, the outside makes everyone feel like it's just another car. And since everyone has one there's no appeal to it.
what do you mean we are about a year or two away from cars STARTING to drop the cd player, Chevrolet sparqs, and sonics with mylink don't have a cd player
He's comparing apples to apples, not apples to oranges. A Chevy Sonic is not comparable in any way at all to an Accord. Compare to a Camry, Altima, Fusion.
To those who say that the tail lights resemble the Genesis sedan: they are similar in that both have white reverse lights up top and red brake reflectors beneath. That's it. In real life, they do NOT look very similar.
Great review, covers the pros & cons of the new Accord well. Love the part where he says you have to put the CVT in Sport mode to "coax it out of its slumber", I had the same experience while test driving. My pet peeve with this car is the seats! When is Honda going to design better seats (more supportive, better lumbar support) for its cars? This is one area where the Camry and Sonata beat the Accord hands down, both have way better seating comfort.
You know gundam too? I didn't think somebody with "CPA lisensing" would know about gundam but anyways. I assume you saw the my videos that I uploaded. Good that you are doing your research about me and I'm flattered. Oh and by the way, gundam isn't toy, it's just a Perfect Grade model kit consists of 1000 parts which you don't have the ability to build one anyways.
You don't come to CNET for car reviews, you come to CNET for car TECH reviews. They focus almost exclusively on the cabin tech and any innovations a given car brings to the car industry. Go to Edmunds or KBB for true car reviews. They are actually fantastic at it.
I disagree that the rear facing mirrors for blind spot detection are "disorienting," after all you're gonna be glancing at it, confirm that you're clear to change lanes then you do so. I agree that it's a bit odd but it's only disorienting when you consciously think about it lol
I see what you're getting at, but I consider myself better than the average driver and still find myself distracted by something occasionally. Anyway, what I'm saying is that Honda, especially with this new Accord, are showing they care more about the drive than the tech features and I'm OK with that. Other brands spend more money on tech to distract from drive or build quality deficiencies. I'd pick this over the new Ford Fusion and possibly even the new Mazda 6.
Let us not forget the Kia Optima which is half Athlentic from the days of the rental company. Heard the Quality King, Kia Kit Car didn't really have a name but beat the Billy Grahm Shelby (not the Wayne Weshwreck) Mustang, and the Amanti a quality king like SUV were all coming in the future.
He means, like what he goes on further to explain, that it looks like a stereotype of a car. which if your product resembles a stereotype isn't good as companies normally dry to differentiate their product.
Is he saying a CD slot is a wasted feature that should have been gone a long time ago and you can't wait for it to be gone? I disagree. CD's still sound better than MP3 unless your ipod files are uncompressed and how many of us do that?
Is Honda better than Toyota, Ford, Chevrolet, Nissan? I'm in the market looking for a new car. A car that's going to last me well over then 10 years. I consider the following vehicles. 2013-14 Honda Accord V6. Toyota Camry. Chevrolet Malibu. Nissan Altima, Nissan Maxima. Ford F-150. Gas is not a problem I just want a reliable car that's not going to give me major problems. Which car do you prefer? Why? Please need help. Thank you.
Japanese cars are well known for their reliability. I currently drive a 1998 Honda Accord EX-L V6 with 198,000 miles on it (can't wait 'til 200k!) and it's still running strong. Pretty good for a 15 year old car. I plan on buying a new Accord next year though, because my brother needs a car so he's going to use mine. I believe as long as you do maintenance on your car when recommended, it'll last a long time. I personally prefer Japanese cars, but it's all in your own preference.
They're all good, but the Japanese car's will give you less trouble over the year,s. I recommend that you test drive the car's you're considaring and go for the one you like best.
I personally think the Honda interior is somewhat low rent looking. I mean the font for the MPG, temperature, and climate control looks like it out of the 70s.
All Hondas look boring except for the newest Odyssey which is designed in a very weird and striking way. All they're meant to be are high quality, long lasting, reliable cars. Good to see Honda adding DRL to their US market cars. Makes it easier for the Canadians who come down here to buy cheaper cars and import them back into their country, nothing to install, no dash to remove, no reprogramming.
shiftoptionk1976 If you want to stand out, you shouldn't be buying a Honda in the first place. I mean, you just gave the reasons why someone would buy one...
I will not let you get the last word. What respect do you have if you're comparing name brand to "Toddler who watches the Disney channel" when companies spend millions to companies just to make up a brand name for the marketing purpose. I have a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Name brand is important for any marketing. He said he doesn't understand the name, yet I explained it. ZOOM OUT and look at the big picture! It's meant to be metaphoric (which you hate abstract)
4:52 "It's got the unfortunate name of earth dreams...what the hell does that mean?" LOL! this guy is the best!
It's the engine or transmission it's called Earth Dreams I forget which one.
It's the engine...I was just quoting Brian...i love his sarcasm! >)
250,000 miles on my 2000 Honda accord, still going great
sugma bawllz
Earth dreams? What the hell does that mean? I died laughing when he said that! Lolllll.this guy is toooo funny
Anyone watching this in late 2020?
Can the right signal camera be turnt off ?

"Earth dream", " what the hell is that mean?" Ahh m dying hahaha
You are my absolute FAVORITE car reviewer I have seen! Witty, clever, smart, and informative! Keep making many more reviews!
"Earth Dreams. The hell does that mean?" Why I love Brian Cooley and his reviews!
i personally own the 2011 accord exl v6 and i love it and we jus recently got the 2013 accord sport trim...there is a big difference in how they feel (mainly due to engines) but also you can tell tht the new accord is less fatiguing like Cooley said and looks sharper in my opinion
"Earth Dreams - whatever the hell *that* means." LOL I love B.Cooley! :-)
"2 to 3 inches shorter-quite a bit of a difference". Umm that's barely a difference for something nearly 16' long
Hi Brian Cooley this is the first time I post on your videos. This guy is really great, To the point, clear and you want to hear to the last minute.
Enjoying our 2011 Honda Crosstour EX-L w/NAV but would like to own the new Accord! Thanks for the video!
he says that they will ditch CD, why? why don't they ditch AM radio?
Just bought a new Accord LX the other day. Picks up quite quickly for a 4-pot. The CVT is actually livable and the handling is good so far. I've liked it a lot. Honda seems to have rebounded from the last generation.
How's the cvt holding up?

editing issue it cuts out during brians explanation of the side mirror camera!! Please fix!
I'm aware. But do their lawnmowers come with Pandora integration for your iPhone?
There are two errors stated in this video. 1 that EX-L or better trim comes with Navigation. I have this exact car and it doesn't come with Navigation. That's a separate option on my trim level. My brother had one for 7 years never had problems
Ex has the 2nd screen right? I thought only the lx has the button interface
Brian, in your opinion, how does it compare to the Altima?
Got mine today, one heck of a car!
Honda has a connected app interface, but only one app on said interface so far. It does quite a bit though.
Well, the reading of texts aloud is included and probably a good idea. And the new crash avoidance systems that companies like Volvo have developed seem to be effective. What happened to this guy? Haven't seen him in a while.
there is only one side mirror camera that its located on the right side so its not disoriented at all
The EX-L did not come standard with navigation, otherwise an excellent review.
i'm in my 20s and i'd by the accord if it looked like the new mazda6, accord is not just more middle aged ppl. my first car was a 2004 honda and i still think its the best looking accord ever made
do not question Brian's judgement! he is the car GOD!
It's 2022 in trying to get the Honda Accord ex 2013 or kia optima 2013 ex wish one is better kia or Honda
I have the 2013 Honda exl and it has over 110000 miles. Still drives like new.
@@DeeTofawhat’s your mileage now ???

He says "the EX-L has nav"... well, not in Canada...maybe in the USA? Nav is an option on the EX-L and standard on the Touring.
This is a great chat!!
Best family sedan you can buy!! Best resale, most reliable, best visibility, most fun to drive! Not the overstyled ford fusion or hyundai sonata, not the boring camry...the accord is the benchmark
Best looking Accord since the original in 1977. Three thumbs up Honda.
I have 215,000 on mine and it still runs strong!
Yep. I can hear them say "you know I wish it had a more powerful computer. We could do without the whole engine, wheels, exhaust, metal, car thing..."
It has succumbed just like the 7th gen and newer Civics
And it will still look good in 7 years :)
It's 7 years later, does it still look good? Lol

@Brian Cooley, cars won't drop FM radio as long as there are government-mandated severe weather alerts and other such things
stopped watching at direct injection. Thanks. Oh and major props for Lauryn Hill unplugged on the radio
Wish you'd do a 2013 RAM 1500 tech check... ;) Sport, Laramie, or Longhorn.
Hi , It would be great if you can review VW Passat 2013.
U do awesome reviews. But need to review more cars. How about a v6 coupe!
I've been waiting for this video for so long
Brian cooley is the best hands down!
how much is the EXL ?

Current Honda Accord rear designs is very similar to the a the rear design of a 1st generation Genesis sedan!

I hope they hold off the dripping of the CD player in cars a great or two later. It is still very useful and has good sound output. :-) :-) :-)
Test drive one. You will be surprised. Won't miss the DSB suspension.

Mazda 6.

Really? why? Honda and Nissan seem have a sportyer drive then mazda and have better technology.
Zohirul Islam Jewel not against the new mazda
Both are boring as can be but Nissan is worse.
Boring....common...not that fun to drive or be seen in....generic also. Everyone has an accord or Altima....yawn!
What Car Would You Buy? Camaro ss by chevy, Honda Accord Or Hyundai Genesis All For Starting Around $23,000 Reply To Me And if you want tell me why
Maybe next time they should review the Touring model.
man this accord is sick all they gotta do is change up the body next year and its perfect
Dude, he already did the review for you
Brian is fucking awesome! The 2013 accord is gorgeous now BUT brian u gota review the MORE gorgeous Mazda 6 pronto please! ;0
I would prefer they put the blind spot camera on the driver side of the vehicle.
it is a a great car to drive, the accord sport is a true value model!

Honda isn't CNET "style" because they actually build cars, not rolling infotainment devices.
2000 Honda Accord 3.0 liter V6
I like how the coupe looks better.
we are also missing cable tv

the Fusion is a great option :)

Agreed. The last gen Accord was the worst. They needed this car. I hope they will improve the rest of the line in the same way.
2013 Honda Accord : the official car of asians who are middle class but don't want to admit they can't afford anything better xD
Well, you can get "true" app support on higher trims with HondaLink.
To me . The Accord isnt that bad. the design is luxurious.
I personally think the Honda interior is somewhat low rent looking. I mean the font for the MPG, temperature, and climate control looks like it out of the 70s.
