  • Please note
    On the previous video, some viewers had audio issues. Hopefully these are not apparent on this video, but if they are, here is a brief reason why that may be. We are still away in Wales, so I am away from my PC and favoured editing software. As I wanted to upload content whilst we were away, I have had to use my old, tired laptop, and a different software, which doesn't allow as much scope for editing audio. Plus, as the internet here isn't great, I have had to lower the video resolution to 1080p.
    Thanks for bearing with me, we will be back home from the 7th of February.
    Today, we visit the British Ironwork Centre near Oswestry, Shropshire. (Yes I realise the thumbnail is wrong).
    It is a sculpture park, where scrap is turned into works of art, with most exhibits having a political or environmental back story.
    I hope you enjoy the ride there, along the B4580 which runs through the Tanat Valley, before turning left onto the A483, and eventually joining the A5 towards Shrewsbury.
    Thanks for watching.

    Those sculptures were fascinating! I also enjoyed the countryside as usual. The naivety of those that protest against nuclear weapons; they invite being on the receiving end of some from elsewhere🤐.

      Apparently Dino, they started on it in about 1995, then in 2000 it went huge. Steve, our host, was born in the house. His family sold the farm, then after about 3 different owners, it was turned into this. Hope you are all well. Cheers

    The sound was a bit low at first so I turned my speakers up!! That was a great ride and location. The millipede was made of golf clubs so a golf club amnesty there was🤔☺

    • @ianhughesroyalenfield
      @ianhughesroyalenfield  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Simon. Unfortunately, that’s the best audio I can get whilst here in Wales. I am having to use an editor called Wondershare Filmora, which only increases the volume to +12. The editor I use at home, is Davinci Resolve (brilliant), where we can increase the volume so much more. Ordinarily, I go to +23. I can’t increase the camera recording audio, as it would distort due to wind noise, making it totally unwatchable. That millepede is a bit wow. Elsewhere there, there was a pile of golf clubs, which they were collecting to create another creature. We will visit again in 12 months time, to see what they came up with. Cheers

    Just watched this on the 65 incher; awesome stuff Ian.
    Nice ride in. Wonder where that group of motorcyclists (hate the term biker) were off too.
    Must say, Hera my Himmy would luv that car park🤪.
    Sculptures were brilliant. Couldn’t help being a bit sad seeing all those fire arms welded up.
    As you say they are very talented people to be able to create such marvellous sculptures.
    Well with the visit and thanx for showing us bud. Hope you and Ann are good.

    • @ianhughesroyalenfield
      @ianhughesroyalenfield  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Neil. That group could well have been going towards where I came from, as it is one of the routes towards “The Berwyn’s” and that pass I did last year (the road to Bala). I like firearms, but these were handed in during an amnesty (I think), so better in a work of art than in the wrong hands. I will be releasing the “alternative” return route later today, which was quite enjoyable. I have had the lurgy since the beginning of last week. Still pretty crap, but not stopping me from doing stuff, just struggling at night and with a cough during the day 🙄. Clementine is now back in the van, ready for our drive home on Wednesday. Cheers

    Interesting to note that Wales have the 20mph limit and seem to have kept the 60mph limit, yet where I live in England we still have the 30mph limit (for now) but the 60's have been cut to 50 or 40 and covered with average speed cameras🤔

    • @ianhughesroyalenfield
      @ianhughesroyalenfield  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Don’t worry Paul. Wales do have plenty of 40 and 50’s, which seem to go on forever. Popular motorcycling routes have been ruined by average speed camera’s, for example, from the Horseshoe Pass roundabout, down to Corwen, reduced to 50mph with the camera’s. We had some good times on that road over the years 😎 sadly no more. Cheers

    England used to have so many quaint little railway 🚂🚃 all over.They were destroyed as well as the industry that they served. Such a shame 😢.

    • @ianhughesroyalenfield
      @ianhughesroyalenfield  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes indeed Frank. Fortunately, there are preservation trust’s, trying to bring some of them back. It was rumoured that the one we crossed here, was earmarked for renovation, and a few years ago, there was rolling stock up the line, but that has gone now. Hopefully to be renovated, but it all takes a lot of money, and if the funds aren’t there, it won’t happen sadly. The line there, originally continued all the way to just beyond Pen-y-Bont-Fawr (where we are at the moment), and would have run at the bottom of the land belonging to the farm. In my next video (out next week), almost at the end, we turn into station road, by The Railway Pub, go over a bridge, and veer right. Where there is now a housing development, was where the station was located. A lot of the closures were down to a short sighted idiot, call Dr Richard Beeching. The rural railway’s just weren’t making enough money to satisfy the fat cats, so the closures came. Such as shame 😥
