- Hello, and welcome to part two.
Here we continue from the previous video, into the Forest of Bowland to Roeburndale then Littledale, on my Royal Enfield Classic 350, called Clementine.
I have been trying to add additional audio from an external device (Zoom H1N), but found that on this instalment, the two mic sources were conflicting with each other, so the audio was awful, sounding artificial. So here, we are just relying on the mic inside the helmet. which hopefully sounds ok.
I do hope you enjoy this very long video, cutting bits out would have been an injustice, as we are riding through the stunning scenery of the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

@29:56 I was riding this road the other way one time and I could feel a touch of cramp coming on in my right calf so I pulled into that farm gateway to have a stomp around to ease the cramp. As I'm doing a very bad River Dance I turned towards the farm gate and the farmer was leaning on it looking at me, so to be sociable I said "It's a lovely view you've got here." He replied in comedy farmers accent saying " Maybe you think so but you wouldn't want to be up here in middle of winter. It comes right in from yon lovely view."

Well you’re having some exercise getting on and off. Beautiful Moreland, your so lucky to live there with all those lanes, I can imagine how bleak it is in winter, but what a great ride 👍🏍️
Delightful to see that area. I bet that it is bleak and lonely up there in the winter and a long way to the convenience store! I like a good, down to earth sign; "shut the gate" and we can hear everything that the farmer has left unsaid. That fly tipper went to a lot of effort.
Thanks GBD. We would love to live up there. Going for a monthly grocery shop would be a day out 🤣. Agree about the fly toppers. I did wonder whether they were old salt licks, that farmers used during the winter, but not sure at a quick glance. Cheers

You wouldn’t believe how many times I made this video (due to the zoom and helmet mic conflicting, and me being tired). I actually rendered and uploaded a total of 3 times, obviously deleting the previous two. The last thing I was going to do, was cut out the gates 😂😂😂

I Don.t recall receiving a cheque for use of my secret route. You will have all sorts of undesirable types up there now. 😂 used to do it with pushbike club. Tough run. From chorley. Stunning roads. I may say the best in the area.

Have taken the car up there and parked where the cattle trailer was parked and had a picnic . Stunning views over to the Lakes and Dales

Thanks Peter. To shorten the length by chopping bits out would have been sacrilegious, apart from the bit going through Caton, but by then it was already really long 😂. Clementine says beep beep to Ruby 😍

Well Ian, that was bloody brilliant bud, luved every minute of it. Certainly my type of roads and my fave environment. I've done that with gates too, irritating isn't.

Thanks Neil. I enjoy all our rides, but this route is quite special. Largely traffic free is a bonus. I don’t really mind the gates tbh, breaks the ride up 😂

The sound's fine, Ian. Nice extended ride and some wonderful views, though I do smile about it being the Forest of Bowland and there's frequently hardly a tree in sight. 😉
😂 me too Chris. Being an incomer, I am unsure whether I should call it the Forest or Trough of Bowland. Perhaps once upon a time there was a forest covering most of the area. Cheers
@@ianhughesroyalenfield From the ending of the last Ice Age (around 12,000 BC), Birch and Oak were common in the region that you were riding - Lime was common further south - but widespread clearing in the Bronze Age period (2400 - 750 BC) and in the Iron Age (800 BC - 43 AD) had reduced wildwood to around 50% of England by 500 BC. By the time of the Domesday Book (1086), only around 15% of England was forested and by 1350 this had shrunk to 10%; as at 2001, that had reduced to just 8.4%. There you go; I'm a mine of useless information! 😉

Decent ride that one Ian ,and Clementine looks stunning in the still shots 👌, I had to watch it in two parts as I remembered I was supposed to be getting on with my oil and filter change on my Classic! 😅😅

Another "Good un." The sound of Clementine is very good she sounds very nice. Your voice is very clear. The picture quality is excellent. I knew straight away that you weren't using the sound from your Zoom. Still sounds pretty good on my TV.

Hi Ian, I watched this last night but was too tired to comment sensibly when I got to the end at 3am! A great ride with some wonderful views, it must get pretty wild up there in winter. The sky might have been a bit threatening but it was as impressive as the land below. I enjoyed the whole ride apart from the shameful cairn of shite, I'm struggling to comprehend what kind of life form does this, obviously barely sentient whatever it is.

Something came up on another channel I watch. The person that "own's" it said about people only watching ten minutes and then leaving the video. I quite often stop a video like this to look on Google maps where you are roughly and what's around. So if it loox like on your algorithm I've ditched it early don't worry I haven't. There's a lot of breax for football at the moment! I get to the end of them eventually. Cheers and keep up the great work.
Thanks Simon. It is true that many people can’t get beyond 10 minutes, but as most of my content is around the 30 minute mark, I know the viewing statistics are not that good on the scenic rides. Also, some people look at the length of the video on the thumbnail, and don’t bother to watch, due to the length of it. Bike reviews however, do a hell of a lot better for views, hence why I throw them in occasionally, just to let the algorithm know I am still here 😂. Google maps and Google Earth are a really good resource for me, including using street view for landmarks. Cheers

Lovely area again Ian, and there's nowt wrong with covering the same ground from a different direction in my view (no pun intended) As I used to say to my coach passengers on an 'out and back' excursion - 'I know that we're travelling the same roads back, but everything looks completely different from 180 degrees opposite direction.' - talk about teaching grannies to suck eggs!! 🤦

The way you know where to go you could do tours of Yorkshire because I know I would get lost .
😂, I don’t know about that, but I have always had a fairly good sense of direction. Having a bit of a look on Google Earth helps too, going into street view for landmarks. 👍
Did it on Africa twin once. Off road bike? A lot more fun on honda monkey. So much easier. Can do the whole route via slaidburn and low gill then your route for less than a gallon of fuel . 😂

Another enjoyable video. The bike is running well. You certainly seem to get around a lot, roughly what part of the country do you run out from.
Hi Terence, we are now based close to Carnforth, on the North Lancashire/Cumbria border. Originally from Nantwich in Cheshire, hence my connection with Crewe Motorcycle Centre. My family are still down there, so I try and grab a ride on something whilst visiting them. Cheers

@terenceotoole8636 I use Google Maps and Google Earth quite a bit. Google Earth Street View is a handy tool to get an idea of what to expect.

Hi Mike, the device on the left side, is the on/off remote for the camera that looks at me. Mileage wise, I think the whole 3 videos (yes there is a third, just the ride home, but still quite nice, and Clementine gets a wriggle on), came to about 35 miles. Not many, but it was nadgery, and took about 2 hours, including stops. Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Lovely run Ian much enjoyed i'm not getting out much at the moment so nice to see these really beautiful areas apart from some moron's fly tipping , not seen much election stuff since I rarely watch ordinary TV just the old netflix and TH-cam and bike related stuff .Although I did catch a so called debate the other day and what a shambles that was just a load of squawking by some awful woman and that was enough for me 😂👌👍
