Proof positive that travelling can be done on any bike. Love that 350. Soft panniers and a 50mph tour is ideal. Less really is more, sometimes.
Cold hands? 'Borrow' a couple of plastic gloves from the diesel pump at a filling station. Worn on the outside of summer gloves they make enough of difference to keep going.
Beautiful part of the world. Enjoy.
    Safe travels 👍

Ah I’ll try wearing them on the outside of my biking gloves. I usually try the plastic gloves on the inside and don’t find it helps hugely, so your method may be better. Thanks🙌🏻

It's hard to imagine a more perfect bike to take in 1000 miles of gorgeous blue sky overhead, and fantastic scenery around. It will simply not allow you to rush and race away the miles even if you wanted to for some reason. Just contemplating life to the soothing deep rumble of that motor must be an absolute dream. And then when you stop, and park you have this beautiful thing to look at.

Did a 150 mile ride in South Wales yesterday, taking in Gospel Pass and Llyn Brianne. Same day as your trip, and it was quite pleasant. Obviously you were far enough further north to make a difference. :-) Listening to the Enfield's exhaust took me right back to 1968, when I had passed my test and was riding my first "big" bike, an Ariel single, around Welsh roads.

No lovely coffee shops and quaint little villages in Wales. I'm in Brecon. I swear it looks like corn du in your background and the sign said Powys., as big as it is.

Lovely bike, Freddie. I bought mine a year ago and it has 5000 kms without any flaws now. Snowdonia... A long time ago, I made it several times to the Dragon Rallye, on my BMW side-car outfit. Quite a way up from Luxembourg and back, especially in February. I still got the Sidecar and rode it this afternoon, it is 34 years young now. The Royal Enfield, (bronze/chrome version) I bought on the spot it when I stepped into the shop last year to buy winter gloves. No regrets - a fantastic machine if one understands its philosophy. Ride safe , - best wishes : in two hours we're in 2024, now that I am writing these lines.

Croeso I Cymru Freddie and Monika! When you were in the knockin shop you were 31 miles to south from my home….I know you are on a biggish tour, but please do come again to the very north following the A5 across to Snowdonia Anglesey the lleyn peninsula
Really will blow you away and also I’d be really happy to show you all the best places ….
Meantime, enjoy your stay and travels through Pembrokeshire and along the south coast … I lived in Mid Glamorgan for three years before moving up to North Wales and been here for the last 35 years….
Go happily safely with a lot of fun and thanks for your films .
PS I’m seriously thinking about buying a classic 350 based on your reviews and some others . I’ve always had faster bikes, but all they do for me, is bring unwanted attention of a speeding ticket… and they are pretty hot and up here with speeding in North Wales….

Once you reached Wales, it was evident that you had travelled back in time, travelling on the perfect time machine. In fact, seeing the occasional modern automobile wizz by was a bit jarring and seemed not in keeping with the serene image of the surroundings on your ride. The image of the bike in the evening light at the shore was magical and perfect. Great stuff Freddie. I'm a huge fan.

Back in the late 90's I had a Honda CB125TB2. It was a twin cylinder, twin carb machine that would; reasonably easily, do 85 to 90 mph on a long straight. What made me think of the little Honda Freddie, was when you mentioned that the Classic was red lining at 70 mph.
For me that's just not enough. I live in Huddersfield in Yorkshire which; for those that know, is equally as hilly as where you filmed this vlog. I take my wife to work most nights in the car on a journey of more or less 20 miles. Sadly, the Classic just wouldn't have the necessary power to carry us two fatties plus luggage up most of these hills around here.
I have been watching shed loads of videos on new bikes as I am going to get another one, probably next year. I really would like the new Classic 650 which is due out in the not too distant future and that will have enough power to transport the Yorkshire Fat Club around, lol..........

Looking forward to that. Rebel blue is probably the coolest. I got the Dapper Grey Hunter 350 used, 300 miles in and 1st service done, with no idea can I floor it yet or not (that extended break in..). Was torn between it and the Classic. Classic has better posture and reach to the handlebars, so it is more relaxed for cruising. But the Hunter, while more forward hunched, is noticeably lighter and more flickable, and it lends itself well enough to standing while riding over rough terrain, as the fuel tank has cut-outs and it is slim in profile. The overall size and weight of the Hunter feels "scramblery" despite the stiff road suspension, whereas in the Classic I felt standing was a bit obstructed by the fuel tank and the weight & wheelbase was starting to be excessive for maneuvering into narrow spots. The cheaper price and compact size won me over for the Hunter, as it fits my yard better as well. Enjoying your videos, Wales is beautiful. t. Finland

I posted a comment on a previous video, saying " you shouldn't buy a small royal enfield, as it won't be suitable for long journeys" well Freddie, you have proved me wrong and made me eat my words. It just goes to show that the saying, the perfect bike for your next adventure is the one you have.
If you make another video, PLEASE could you show what gear (soft luggage) you are using, and let us know if its suitable i.e waterproof.
    Thanks.

If ever you find your summer gloves are inadequate, wear some plastic fuel station protective gloves under them, makes a heck of a difference if your caught out.

What a pleasure to watch. Wales has some great seanary. The Airbnb looks ace and appears to be short of nothing.
Go easy on that filtering. It's not always the heavys that don't see you it can also be the car drivers who may not use their left hand mirror's.
Otherwise, keep up with the videos and can't wait for the next one. 👍😎

Myself and my colleague do a pilgrimage through much of the same area on our way to Anglesey. The highlight is Cross gates to Newtown.... fantastic smooth, cambered road. Awesome riding around there.

This is a decent road trip Freddie, good on you , I've just fitted Enfield's pannier frames and Lomo bags to my Gunmetal grey classic for some decent trips and bike rallies on it .
It makes me laugh how people underestimate the capabilities and reliability of these great little machines !
Have a great trip ,looking forward to the rest of these videos
One piece of advice, when you're travelling somewhere like Wales or Scotland take a flask and snacks in your bags, and don't go past the last petrol station without topping up.

Great video. Snowdonia has been popping up lately in my TH-cam motorcycle feeds. It is a beautiful area. Regarding the cold, living in Idaho I always have winter gloves and layers in my paniers year round just in case. Sometimes that isn’t enough to keep the chill off. So a coffee stop is always in order. Have a great trip.

It took a second to realise that filtering was sped up 😂😂 the difference it makes when other vehicle drivers make that bit of space between lanes is massive, you aren't slowing them up and you can just stay safe and out of their way.
Also re the summer gloves, I know you like a top tip...get yourself some thin cotton gloves, or cheap running gloves from somewhere like Sports Direct, keep them in an inside pocket on your jacket or under your bike's seat - wear them under your summer gloves when it is cold, what a difference it makes!!

    • @FreddieDobbs
      @FreddieDobbs  ปีที่แล้ว +2

Haha yep, I’m not that quick😆
This is a brilliant tip- 100% I’m going to go to a Sports Direct or Millets to pick some up. Thanks🙌🏻🙌🏻

Definitely, I got a wonderful pair of really thin Marino wool gloves at a cycling shop, amazing under the bike gloves. I actually use my cycling kit under my biker gear. It's amazing for breathable and wind proofing.

We used to pass through Knockin on holiday to North Wales back in the 70’s and used to joke how it was a ghost town, as we’d never see anyone, or anything in fact.

I had a 1964 (?) Royal Enfield Crusader 250 many years ago when I was 17. Great bike for getting across the city to school and for meeting the girlfriend. Probably wouldn't have considered going to Wales on it though!

So nice to see you enjoying. Mid Wales you got to make sure you fill up but much better as you go north or south for coffee and petrol. Try Welsh Coal coffee if you can get it think they do it in the baffle haus Brecon way
