One of my favorite comedies of all time (that I even have on DVD in my home movie collection)...wish we could have a sequel to this movie (after all, the ending sort of set up an idea for a continuation, even if it was meant as a joke).
My Luxembourgish wife (born 1973) had never seen this movie by the time I met her in 2012. She thought it was one of the funniest movies she’s ever seen. Utterly brilliant and a movie that actually may remain timeless.
Its absolutely in my opinion one of the funniest movies of all time, very clever and wit script, some scenes are still so fucking hilarious I cant watch it for my stomach 😂😂. Like the "do you feel this?" moment
This film is a lot of fun! Thank you for having a retrospect on it since many of the scenes you presented made me laugh heartily. I love the great Michael Caine and uproariously terrific Steve Martin. I still remember some years after the release of this film. McDonald’s having a promotion of giving away certain movies with a purchase of their meals, and I remember getting a VHS copy for free of “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.” Other movies you could do a cool hindsight on? Well, what about: • Back to School • Weird Science • Bullets Over Broadway …just to name some. But great video on such a fun film!
"Ruprecht, do you want the genital cuff?" Everyone was at the top of their comedic game in this 80's gem. As for a suggestion for the suggestion box. How about one on Hiding Out (87').
Some of my favorite movies: "The Nights Of Cabiria"; "The Constant Gardener"; "Malena"; "Legends Of The Fall"; "Far And Away"; "Quigley Down Under"; "Full Monty"; "Fun With Dick And Jane"; "Kingpin"; "Bedazzled"; "Gattaca"; "Loser"; "Funny Farm"
The two most underrated movies that I love are Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Dewy Cox. I can't understand why neither one did great at the box office. I watch them every time they're on TV and still laugh😮
Nice video. Others I'd like to see you do are: Outrageous Fortune Ruthless People Who's Harry Crumb? Armed and Dangerous Taking Care of Business/Filofax.
The villa is Villa Hier, Cap d'Antibes, built in the early 1900’s. The indoor rooms were sets built for the film, but the villa has its own pool, several patios, private beach and tennis court. The supposed “museum” where Lawrence takes Freddy is the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, located at Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, built between 1907 and 1912 for the Baroness Béatrice de Rothschild (1864-1934).
You may know that we Germans dub every movie and I have to say that the jokes are even better in the German dub, esp. the scenes with Ruprecht. Seeing parts in English here is of course funny since I know the dialogs very well. I love this one, one of my all-time favorite comedys.
Super evaluation of this film! I must admit that Steve Martin's character makes him on the verge of unlikable, I wanted Micheal to be the winner. I was also totally surprised she was a con artist as well.
I love Steve Martins wit and humor, but his onscreen characteristics can get annoying sometimes (like with most comedians). But in this movie it's perfectly balanced. I still think Frank Oz is an underrated director...
This comedy has every right in being nominated one of, if not the greatest comedy of it's time. It's that good, I cry every single time with laughter.
+ My Cousin Vinny from the same writer gave me the best abs workouts
Steve Martin and Micheal Caine had great comedic chemistry together.
The scene of Steve Martin crying in the wheelchair always gets me
“Ruprecht”, is the funniest bit ever in a movie. Period. My 89 year old father in law still speaks of it. It transcends generations
"Why is the cork on the fork?"
"May I go to the bathroom" always gets me. Martin's facial expression is priceless.
@@jochenstacker7448 🤣👍
This is one of my favorite Steve Martin movies ever. I just watched it for the billionth time yesterday and I still cried from laughing so hard.
Knowing that Steve Martin is a real art lover and collector himself, closer to Lawrence Jamieson than Freddy, just adds an extra layer to this film.
Not forgotten around this house. This is highly regarded here as one of Steve Martin's absolute best films.

The scene with Rupret and the dishes is my favorite... 😆 🤣 😂
Really...
The best comedy ever. Top 10 movie ever.
I recommend this movie all the time. Teach the youth. They don't make them like this anymore.
My Luxembourgish wife (born 1973) had never seen this movie by the time I met her in 2012.
She thought it was one of the funniest movies she’s ever seen.
Utterly brilliant and a movie that actually may remain timeless.
One of the best comedies of the 80's!!!
it really holds up. The Broadway musical adaptation is very good as well - surprised you didn't mention it.
You rock dude. Keep covering Steve Martin please. He had some great movies. And great music he's still making.
This movie is brilliant. Even the teaser trailer was great.

A remake of "Bedtime Story" from 1964 Starring David Niven and Marlon Brando. You haven't lived until you've seen Brando playing Ruprecht.
I could sit with ya talking movies of an evening
Amazing movie!
May I go to the bathroom? Thank you!
That was Brando's gag, down to the same facial expression. The whole film is shot for shot a remake.
I haven’t seen this since I was like 9. So definitely overdue for a rewatch I’d say. Great video as always dude!
Brilliant movie & 1 of my favourites.
This and Groundhog Day are my favorite comedies, but, shockingly, no one ever seems to talk about this one for whatever reason.
Eight minutes into the movie Emperor Palpitine is in the background with a white blazer.
with your glowing review, I am surprised it only got 7.5/10
Nostalgia: things that worked, were funny, competent and relatable for more than a target demographic.
I can watch DRS and Three Amigos any day and laugh my arse off.😂
He's crying tears of joy 😂😅😅😅😅
I watch this movie for first time on dvd for my local library,
Bloody GREAT film!
this is one of those movies i thought was a little off when it came out and has slowly become a favorite. much like three amigos or lonely guy

This movie is great 🤘🍻🤘
Such a great, seemingly too under-seen, film.
I saw it a month ago and it still holds up!
Would love to hear your take on Outrageous Fortune (1987) with Shelley Long and Bette Midler. It’s one of my faves from the ‘80s.
Let's face it, this man is cool.
LOVED THIS FILM....! 👌😏 The remake ('The Hustle' 2019) was just as expected... UTTER CRAP.... 😒... Though, Anne Hathaway... Yeah, I would 😉
😎🇬🇧
Planes ,Trains and Automobiles is worth reviewing
7.5 out of 10?? Easily a 9, on par with ‘A Fish Called Wanda.’
Agreed! My top two favorites
How about A Fish Called Wanda...
Bro didn't even mention the part where Steve spends the night with the Navy seamen & they glue his hand to the wall 😂
Why is there a cork on his fork? 😂😂😂
To stop him poking himself in the eye
Nice video. Others I'd like to see you do are:
Outrageous Fortune
Ruthless People
Who's Harry Crumb?
Armed and Dangerous
Taking Care of Business/Filofax.
Great movie,very funny.
I have still been known to say "really" in a way clearly inspired by this film.
7.5/10?
I'm sorry, this movie is a 10.
Agreed! At least a “9.”

Oh and Money Pit too with Tom Hanks and Shelley Long
Funny thing frank had previously worked with Steve on little shop of horrors and I think this might have helped Michael get the role of Scrooge
Love this "sub-channel". do dragnet!! Great movie
Midnight Run ?
I'm pleased that the majority of the commentators know that this is far superior to the Brando, Niven movie.

after the "Dancing in the streets" video what couldn't Jagger and Bowie do together?
Hey Nacho, still doing the shoe videos?? 😅
I have this poster up in my garage
Fierce Creatures

👏👏👏👏👏👏
I wonder if JoBlo's team think that putting the narrator's face on a thumbnail actually increase viewership
I think youtube requires more of the creators faces
Of the movie is good, it was directed by freaking Yoda!
@Ricky_Spanish And has Emperor Palpatine in a supporting role. 👍
I love Steve Martins wit and humor, but his onscreen characteristics can get annoying sometimes (like with most comedians). But in this movie it's perfectly balanced. I still think Frank Oz is an underrated director...
Rupret! After that..
We apologize...
Time capsule? Tardis! I'll let you explain to America.
The Running Man
What if in the first movie was Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis?
Reprecht 😂
Mick Jagger and David Bowie?? Neither could act.
After Caines recent turkey Shock to the System actually that was 1989.

1990s Men At Work?
Parenthood too
Not mother?
Congrats for mentioning the original as well as the latest remake. Prolly one of the few reboots where gender-swapping worked.
We dont want to listen to you. We want to see scenes. Just scenes. We dont need a commentary. We e already seen the movie. We know the bloody plot😅😅😅
Booo.. this movie is 11 out of 10. BOOOOO
This is NOT a forgotten movie. Not while I live.
There is no comedic actor or dramatic actor, just actors.
