Great video! However you need to use different size of keycaps for your bottom row (1.5u, 1u and 1.5u CTRL , winkey / super key, ALT Respectively). This is just because the tiger lite has a Tsangan bottom row (1.5u, 1u, 1.5u, 7u spacebar, 1.5u, 1u, 1.5u), not the standard ANSI Bottom row (1.25u, 1.25u, 1.25u, 6.25U Spacebar, 1.25u, 1.25u, 1.25u, 1.25u). Cheers!!
Just windering, is there any other key caps i can use, i am going for a white and light pink variant and the blue isnt it for me so i am wondering if theres other caps with those colour varients
Hey, that's a really good build you got there. Although I would enjoy following this guide, I'm more interested in finding tips on how to make your keyboards so creamy while having the poppy sound at the same time. I have a recently-completed build that is around $200, but I'm not fully satisfied in the sound yet. Any tips on how to get this sound you made? Right now my build uses a Polycarbonate plate with Akko Radiant Reds (I was lucky to buy them just days before it stopped selling), and I have applied the tape mod and PE foam to it. The keycaps are a custom profile that combines Cherry and XDA.
Hi, i was really considering this build however the strawberry v2 switches are very hard to get from where i live. do you have any alternative switches i can use to achieve a similiar sound?
Great video! very detailed! do you think it's possible to build a creamy pops keyboard with a tactile switch? If so, which tactile switch would you recommend?
As a brand new beginner although this guide I do feel is the best example I’ve seen it’s still intimidating. There’s just so many small parts 🥲 it does sound good though even though I’m not a fan of really loud popping sounds I like a low clack for a more silent linear switch but still a good sound on this keyboard I like the color way 🥹
keebsnstuff and theremingoat will be your best bet for articles about the hobby or maybe im just a little biased. from keebsnstuff: "A more recent development has been the use of polyethylene (PE) foam between the plate and PCB and stabbing your switches through that to replicate the same implementation in the Jelly Epoch. The result is what many have described as a “marbly” sound signature, whatever that means. However, the use of the PE foam mod has resulted in essentially a large number of keyboards sitting on people’s desks that sound exactly the same and very little to discern between them despite having different switches. The PE foam mod can make your cheap and cheerful board sound exactly like a $389 USD keyboard. This is less a roast on those of you doing the mod on your Tofus (I mean, I did) but rather an indictment on the designers of the Jelly Epoch. I can’t help but feel that releasing the PE mod into the wild has diminished the perceived value of the board since someone can just chuck in some PE foam in to their KBD75. I speak in hyperbole but I hope you get my point. "
Hiya Ty, What esc/alt keys do you recommend. As you have an image on yours but yours is the wrong colour so what black or white one do you suggest. Please let me know and thanks for the tutorial!
Hey, I have done all of the steps in the video, + adding some polyfil. I have different switches than you though. My board doesn't sound that good. Could it be the switches, or do you know what else I could do to modify the board to have a good sound? Thanks.
For a video that's meant to be informative and directed towards beginners, there are a few glaring issues. 1. The keyboard choice. The Tiger80 is a perfectly good board, my problem is that a beginner who doesn't fully understand how keyboard components affect sound would think that they need the Tiger80 specifically, or boards with very close features and specifications, in order to achieve the sound this video is trying to achieve. 2. Switch choice. The switch choice is totally arbitrary, and the only "reason" I could see that isn't arbitrary is the fact that they're pre-lubed. You don't explain why you chose the KTT Strawbs, neither in the "what you need" or the "switches" section. A beginner who doesn't know that switches are one of the lowest contributing factor to a board's overall sound will be easily mislead into thinking they NEED KTT strawberries to achieve this sound, or worse yet, if they use KTT Strawberries in a different board, they'll achieve the same exact sound. There are smaller problems that I can nitpick, like how it would've been nice if you explained what the tape mod actually does, but that's whatever.
Can you answer why duct tape is not advisable? I used 2 layers of duct tape on mine, I already tried masking tape and in my opinion duct tape does the job better. Thanks in advance if you will provide insight.
Okay this may sound stupid but my I'm having trouble with my current keyboard with this. Has anyone tried csgo on this? My current 60% keyboard does not allow me to shift walk in CS. Will this work?
honestly no matter how hard i try I can never get the stabs right. They never sound as good as yours. I followed the steps thoroughly and they still sound like crap lol. I don't know what i'm doing wrong.
i think the best "creamy" sounding keyboard would be a mamoth 75, ktt kang white v3 switches(lubed), (idk a good brand for stabs) lubed stabs, and ceramic keycaps
How that sounds completely finished: thanks for starting with this!!! Ok, thanks, bye, I need to go to my panic room to scream out the horror I just heard. 😂 Too loud, way way too loud.
I don't get how snipping off a piece of plastic on the stabs does anything and if it does then why is it even there? I have never seen an explanation for snipping them off and everyone just does it because they saw someone else do it. Same with putting tape on the back of the pcb. I can't see how that would achieve anything at all. Again noone ever says what it does, just that it "sounds better" but then they do a comparison and theres no difference.

Can u possibly do this with a 65% keyboard
i love creamy keyboards 😌 will adding pe foam make the sound less creamy?
Nope, but will probably make it a tad more poppy. A added bonus in my opinion. It will also eliminate a bit more of the hollow sound.
pe foam generally makes switches sound less thin. some people take issue with it though since it gets rid of a switch's unique sound signature
keebsnstuff and theremingoat will be your best bet for articles about the hobby or maybe im just a little biased. from keebsnstuff: "A more recent development has been the use of polyethylene (PE) foam between the plate and PCB and stabbing your switches through that to replicate the same implementation in the Jelly Epoch. Why does it have to be masking or painters tape I normally use electrical tape
Pretty noob question, but do you have to replace the tape? I read it can leave residue on the PCB if left on for too long
the answer is no.. you gotta use a tape where it's not an conductive tape and adhesive tape.

@@TyCottle Okay thanks, love the channel btw, keep it up!
