      Indicators on motorways (freeways) should not really be necessary if you're making correct use of your mirrors. In Britain indicators seem to be used as brain substitutes.

      You have an Audi and a BMW. You should be an indicator's mortal enemy. Lol. Say Bobby, how does this stack up to the C350e? I know there's quite a price difference, but still, just curious.

    In the F10 - the electronic hand brakes comprises among others 2 solenoid switches - one for left and one for right. Either one may break after some years and it cost about RM1,800 to replace each one of them. Worse is if the switches spoils on lock position, you cannot drive the car as the parking break is on lock position. If you are lucky it may spoil when the hand brake are on unlock position so that you could still drive the car, but just that you cannot engage parking brake and have to rely on "P"on the auto shifter to hold the car on parking. Otherwise you need to have a truck to carry your car to the service centre. Maybe manual handbrake can be less troublesome ....

    Did you know that you also have comfort access for the trunk?, as long as you have the key fob in your pocket you wave your foot under the exhaust the trunk pops open, designed when you have your hands full, such a cool feature.

  • @msar64

    Bobby, in the event after warranty expiry, how much would it cost for replacement of the Lithium Ion battery? And this is a plug-in hybrid but can we not plug-in in order to recharge the battery by means of regeneration of the motor i.e just drive it on?

    • @BobbyAngmalaysia
      @BobbyAngmalaysia  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Theoretically, you can just drive it like a hybrid instead of charging it everyday. But if that's the case, I'd recommend you to get the 320i instead. Battery replacement price i'm not sure, but don't expect it to be below that of RM10k.

    • @izreeh87
      @izreeh87 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      you can charge up to 50% of the battery using the regeneration of the motor i.e driving the car around. Ive asked the SA about the cost of replacement. 330e has 5 separate batteries connected together. so, if one spoils, u only change one and not all. one battery is around RM 7k.

    • @msar64

    The 330e M-sport in blue is a really nice car (I seen it once on the road). I fancy an electric car like i3 but Canada's has a severe lack of charging stations and our winters are long & cold (e.g kills battery range quickly). I think the 330e really is the best of both worlds, but it is rather expensive :(

    • @BobbyAngmalaysia
      @BobbyAngmalaysia  7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +Trades46 the funny thing with malaysia is that our cars are generally ridiculously expensive, but after the government roll out the eev incentive plans (Energy Efficient Vehicle) to have customise reductions on excise duty for locally assembled car models that pass eev status, the reduction (especially for hybrids) is so significant that hybrids that are cheaper than their gasoline counterparts. Back in 2013 when Audi brought in the A6 Hybrid along with tax free status, Malaysia alone gobbled up more than half of Audi Global's total A6 Hybrid production for that year.

    IMO, BMW does not have the most 'wow' looking interior design, but trust me on this, bmw's interior design can be looked at for years without getting bored. It is a timeless design. Something that gets prettier by the day as you use it.

    Hi Bobby, went to test drive this car past few days and instantly fell in love with it. However there are some concerns,
    1. It is better to charge it daily in order to fully ultilize the hybrid technology if not better of with conventional car after all the car is much heavier
    2. How much it cost to change battery
    3. What are the cost to charge the battery with charge station
    4. There are not many chargev stations in Malaysia hence can be really inconvenient
    5. Even we charge it at a station takes about few hours right ?
    Hope to hear from you soon
    Are there any more setbacks ?

    • @BobbyAngmalaysia
      @BobbyAngmalaysia  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Deon,
      The best part about this car, is that even if you do not charge it at home or anywhere, it functions like a Prius Hybrid - only difference is that the BMW recharges more often, stores more energy (during long distance drive) and is able to go full electric drive of 30km, and up to hundred plus clicks.
      The electric aspect is a given/additional benefit - unlike other countries where people pay a lot more for any hybrid or plug-in hybrid cars, malaysia is cheaper. So anything that comes as a drawback, be it lack of charging stations, cost of batteries etc - are 'happy' problems because at the core of it, this car is a better 3 series, more fuel efficient, and gives you the option to charge instead of refueling.
      I'm not sure about the ChargEV costs or the battery replacement costs.
      Lastly, our iPhone also takes a few hours to fully charge, despite it's only a 2,915 mAh battery.

    • @deonnicholaslee
      @deonnicholaslee 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bobby Ang but if i do so without constant charging it isn't it defeating the main purpose of plug in hybrid ?

    • @BobbyAngmalaysia
      @BobbyAngmalaysia  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      From paper, I can't see how the 350e is worth RM50k more than the 330e. But it's ratings are higher at a staggering 600Nm. 3-Series rear seats still slightly larger than the C-Class, while the 350e's boot has a big step in it. Interior wise, the new C-Class is just undeniably brilliant in design, and that Burmeister system looks good.

    • @sanzteoh1
      @sanzteoh1 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agree, for the same price point we can only get C200, which is no competition at all?
      It'd be great if BMW offers some customization or variants for this 330e model though, I see other countries are getting the sport line steering (the one you also mentioned in the video) and other color of leather seat, Malaysia one seems to have no options on these things?

    Would love to own one in the future, the steering is still the same as normal 3 series. The other sportier/cooler steering only comes with M Sport..? So what are the differences between M Sport and Sport ? Thanks
    O how much does the hybrid batteries cost & how long is the warranty ?

    • @izreeh87
      @izreeh87 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The M sport is 10k more than the 330e sport. You get M sport bodykit and steering with blue panel on the dashboard. The rim size is the same but you get different style of rim on the M sport. Besides that, pretty much all is the same. Ive asked the SA, there are 5 battery panel in the boot. So, if one of the panel needed to be changed, you only change that particular battery panel and you not the whole battery. one panel costs for 7k.

    So what I'm understanding here is.. And correct me if I'm wrong, please... It's 330e because it has an electric motor in it that goes about what BMW claims 35-40 ish kilometre. But when the battery is drained, and you get into a spot you can't charge it... It turns into a 320i, that's like 100 kg heavier than a normal 320i?

    • @BobbyAngmalaysia
      @BobbyAngmalaysia  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yupe. But if you really really really really drained the battery to zilch zero nothing nada .... and somehow the recharging doesnt happen, then you end up with an oversized paperweight

    I like the car a lot. But the boot space appears rather poor (for those with spouse and kids). Not sure if the boot can fit a convertible child seat (those 6 months to 12 years old type), in the event you want to take out friends or colleagues and need to stow away the child seat which is in the rear seat. Just curious, if you drive it really hard, would the battery juice ever completely deplete? Some hybrid (without plug-in ability) cars like the Honda NSX will have the inside wheel charge the batteries when you corner or when you turn the steering wheel, hence it will never run out of juice.

    • @BobbyAngmalaysia
      @BobbyAngmalaysia  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Lagibizar well it never did fully deplete but was at its last bar for about the final 3 days of driving as i just didnt charge it and drove it as it is. The car aggressively charges whenever it could, and uses it whenever it could. Switching between engine and motor without me noticing much if i werent paying attention, and shoving the car off everytime i do a heavy acceleration from standstill.

    I found the auto start/stop function in the 330i jerky and an absolute annoyance. Care to comment how the 330e functions in this regard since u can't seem to disable the auto start/stop now manually

    • @BobbyAngmalaysia
      @BobbyAngmalaysia  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jay Shah wow the one i drove, the engine kicks in without me even noticing much most of the time. Of course there are intervals whereby the shutting off of the engine coincides with you wanting to move ... and that's understandably jerky as we already throttled while it was trying to start

    • @Nomad2022
      @Nomad2022 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      so would u say the auto/start in the 330e is more seamless in transition between combustion and the elec motor? Also being a plug in hybrid would charging at home incur much cost to our electric bill?....my bill is high enough...lol

    • @kahchon87
      @kahchon87 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      330e battery capacity is 5.7kW battery, our cost is about 22cent per kW, so it's around RM1.50 to charge the battery from empty to full.

  • @Rapture77
    @Rapture77 8 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @oliver6061
    @oliver6061 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    BMW dealer told me it doesn't come with public ChargeEV cable. How ridiculous to know this when the car is promoting for Plug-in charging capably in public. It would cost another RM1443 for the public ChargeEV cable.

    • @BobbyAngmalaysia
      @BobbyAngmalaysia  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +oliver6061 it's offered for first 100 customers for free. Why is it ridiculous to pay RM1400 for a cable since some people prefer to use it like a normal hybrid car. And rm1,400 is not that costly either when some people will pay rm2k for solar films.

    • @oliver6061
      @oliver6061 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bobby Ang I don't complain the price of the cable, but the package. They are promoting public charging, but not providing the cable. That's what I don't understand. Paying extra would just make customer think that the company is actually not keen of the hybrid or electric car market. Anyway, I've placed order for one 330e M Sport model yesterday, because I like its technology, performance and features, for its price. And because I thought it will come with the public charging cable as well as the ChargeEV card. I thought so because I watched your video review, plus some other readings, of this car saying it comes with the public charging equipmeny, but I discovered later with the sales assistant that it doesn't come with the public charging cable nor card, when we talk about the stuffs in the boot. It really disappointed me. I referred your video to the sales assistant, I called the BMW headquarter, and the response is that it has to be purchased separately. I just didn't research enough.

    • @BobbyAngmalaysia
      @BobbyAngmalaysia  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      So you actually have to pay that amount for the public charging cable + the charging card..?

    • @oliver6061
      @oliver6061 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, for the charging cable, but still unclear about the ChargeNow/ChargEV card. Seems like need to register through GreenTech website and they'll send the card to owner. And I'm still unsure whether is there any membership fee. Still waiting for my car.

    bobby, nice review, from your test drive... how far 330e can go per full tank? est.? tq.

    • @BobbyAngmalaysia
      @BobbyAngmalaysia  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      myse4184 i drove like a hoonigan during my test drive session, revving the bejesus out of it, and i did not charge it second day onwards, i got 7.9 litres per 100km, if the tank is 60 lits, i should get 760km range for my driving style. But if you were to buy it, charge it daily, drive normally, you should get 1000km easily per month or if you're super careful about it, you can try one month not refuelling at all.

    Hi Bobby, I am an owner of BMW 320i F30. Can I do engine mapping to increase horse power and torque? Is it effective and safe? Any shops to recommend? Thanks a lot

    • @BobbyAngmalaysia
      @BobbyAngmalaysia  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can but it will void the warranty. Technically speaking there are 320is being napped to 280hp. But must find a reputable one. As shift points will change, sensors also need to be programmed etc. Dont believe anyone who tells you they can squeeze more power while lower fuel consumption. Best to mod after warranty

      Honestly, I find mechanical hand brakes easier to use. I don't know man, pulling a level and pulling a button takes the same effort. The "kekeke" noise it makes just gives me much more confidence that my car won't move when I let go off the brakes lol.

    • @BobbyAngmalaysia

      Depending on region. As of 2016, 18% of Malaysian electricity comes from hydro power. That percentages is going to keep increasing as our government are expanding on renewable energy sources. If you live in certain areas, the percentage can be even higher if you're located next to a hydro power plant.
