I hear what you saying but if I can't get this set up with a near M3 appearance. I wouldn't be interested. Looks is everything to a proud BMW. I'm speaking from experience. So I definetely want the 330e with the M Sport Package.
Agree! Touring version would be perfect! About 50km electric would also be nice! But as batteries are becoming more energy dense, this will certainly be the case in a few short years. But until that time, maybe an all electric will make more sense (at least in western Europe!)
It has taken four years from this review... too long... but BMW has announced a Touring version for 2020. I believe the battery has already been increased a little. A lovely compromise vehicle.
Also a big draw back is the attention needed when driving in car parks and pedestrian areas. Lost count of the amount of people that just step into the road because they assume it’s clear due to the near zero noise when driving on battery.
I would love to have hybrid. Realistically, my every-day driving is no more than 25 km. Too bad 1 km on petrol costs almost the same as on electricity in Germany :(
I agree with the issue with the lack of XDrive, I like the idea of a hybrid where the electric motors run the front wheels and the engine runs the rear wheels (like Volvo XC90 T8). Must make it easier though for the engineers having the motor and engine in the front for the drivetrain and gearbox, albeit very cramped.
XC90 is primarily a FWD car with rear wheels engaged only when needed. So electric motor is actually placed in the back. In BMW it's probably a bit trickier.
I spoke with BMW about it about a year ago. They say for now it's too niche of a car, and they expect US market to be their priority, so no estate. Maybe with the new 3 Series?
i looked at a 2016 version today and I noticed the rear seats didn't fold down. Boot space is small so that would have been useful. Do the newer models have fold down rear seats?
Volvo, diesel, hybrid and fun driving all in the same sentence? Let's cut the fun part out, and tell me what are the taxes on cars in your region? Because I assume you are looking for a car that slots in a lower tax bracket.
@@MarekDrives I'm between 330e 2016 regular, not touring and the v60 d6 2016. I'm interested on the consumption, fun driving and not many mechanical problems.
Marek Drives :)) Just wondered, it looked such a sharp turn. Do you suggest this one or the audi a3*saloon.?New Civvvvvvviiiiicccc review pleeeeaseeeee.:)
A3 Saloon is a smaller car. 3 Series compares to A4, 1 Series compares to A3. But I suppose you could take a fully specced A3 Limousine for a mid-spec BMW 3 Series and be happy with it. New Civic is coming in a couple of months. Honda Poland hasn't registered their test cars yet.
If you actually paid attention, you would've noticed that he said at the end of the video: "Would you like to see your favorite car as a hybrid, or a full-electric? Please let me know in the comments down below". I didn't know that I had to keep my comments about BMWs on a BMW-related video. Why don't you watch the whole video before you tell me what I should and shouldn't comment on a video.
When you say "swap" do you mean that the money from selling the Qashqai will more or less pay for the 330e? Last time I checked these BMWs held their value (at least in my part of Europe).
@@MarekDrivesENG they are worth the same average, due to my cashqai it is very little driven 40k miles, the BMW 100k miles, both are worth on average 10k pounds, the person wants 2k on the way back because he is a seller he will want to win, I like my cashqai but I need an automatic for my wife
For the 330e to really make sense she'd have to drive it mainly within its electric range, which by now is probably 10-20 percent less, than what I said in the review. Otherwise you're just carrying a heavy battery pack that makes the boot less practical.
I Know the BMW 2-series Active Tourer is a bit of the company odd-ball and probably won't appeal to the normal BMW user, but what are your thoughts on the 225xe?
I'm with you on your comment about the i3 Marek. But from my perspective this missed the mark. If they offered an i3 that was a half metre longer with a range of over 200 miles or 400 kms then you wouldn't need to carry around a big ICE in the front of your car all of the time. And this is what I don't get about these hybrids. Why do you want to have 2 engines when either fuel cells or batteries can do the job? Nice review!! (Somebody has been practicing their drone flying!!)
this is the perfect company car, thats where this fits into the line up. Plus it suits BMW having to stick to the "eco" agenda that is being pushed on car makers
I think hybrid will never take off, It will always have a place in big cars with thirsty engines so that the buyer can feel better about himself because .. it's an hybrid. On the other hand as soon as technology is ready full electric cars will dominate , I see very likely an electric car in my future.
e-joke of course. As all plug-in cars of our days. The next 30-40 years cars will keep being dominated by petrol & diesel engines (especially petrol, according to an american research for USA market). I AGREE & i think the same for the rest markets. Don't you Marek?
ICE makes sense for rural North America, because distances to travel are vast. From this perspective even Tesla range of up to 400 km is ridiculously small. From European perspective 200-300 km range is enough to travel across some countries.
Good review, well informed, pleasant voice. Subscribed!

I triple that.
msport also improves interior seats and appearanace/usability with a nicer steering wheel. His opinion but hes not very smart for not wanting it.

thinking of getting this. nice car.

People are dumb, and they will step in front of an ICE car as well.
Hybrid is the way to go, there are a lot of reviews of the 330e on YT most give the same point of view
A touring 330e would be great!
Marek love your reviews. Please update this review with the G20 LCI. Thanks

I own one of these. The flappy paddles never get used
Nice review, well done. I’m about to get one for myself.
Hi whats the actual range can you get out of electric range only
I agree, Touring would make it a brilliant motor indeed. I would definately buy one.

Great video. 👍🏼
3:18 a vaccum cleaner!!!
I do 60kms in mine on electric only
f30 or the new g model? what model year
But what is MPG in hybrid mode? And how long does the battery last in hybrid mode?
Good review. I'd love to see how it compares to the ActiveHybrid 3.
i looked at a 2016 version today and I noticed the rear seats didn't fold down. Boot space is small so that would have been useful. Do the newer models have fold down rear seats?
Yes you can fold them
It’s not really a year issue. Folding seats is an extra option on BMW. I guess the original owner of your car decided not to get it.
Would be nice to have the X1 with plugin as well
@marek which engine - vehicle do you prefer? (For fun driving - economy) This one or the volvo v60 d6 hybdid???

No word yet.

Ottavianus Augustus this one is not that thirsty
Will the rwd car benefit from the extra kilos on the rear axle wintertime? I remember nightmares I had with a Rwd C-class in snowy weather.
I have an MX-5 as my daily. Never had a problem in the winter.
My Citroen C4 Picasso would be perfect with a big battery pack under the floor. 😬😬😬 and without ICE . A little Tesla minivan ⚡️⚡️⚡️😁
I'm surprised there's still no proper hybrid/phev minivan. Prius+ is not exactly top of the mind minivan.
It would have looked so much better if BMW had put the charge flap opposite the fuel flap.
Yes, but then you'd get some idiot pour petrol into the electric socket :)
I'd forgotten about the worlds idiots.
Before I watch the video, I predict Marek will think it is a wonderful car. it's German. it's a BMW.
