Long time viewer gunman, and all of your videos have been extremely informative and helpful, especially with your gun reviews because it's helped me when it comes time to spending the money on a new gun haha. Touching on the topic of training your apprentices. The job I'm at right now, I've been there for a year now. Went to tech school when I was in high school for auto body and basically tried to learn more afterwards through trial and error. I really wanted to learn more, but couldn't get into any body shops due to "not enough experience" so finally I'm working at a production shop painting airplanes. I love the work! I've learned a lot just over the last year. The frustrating part for me is, they won't train me hands on at all. The only stuff I've picked up is off of the guys I work with. It's cool to hear that you're willing to work with your apprentices and build their confidence and help them learn more and expand their capabilities. I just wish I could get the same exposure and training.
This is why I like ypur channel, because ypur humble, ypur not cocky ypu admit theirs room to learn more. That's what I crave is knowledge, I can never learn to much.
I want to paint my dodge sprinter that i converted into a campervan. Im a DIY guy and i knew nothing about compressors, prep work and spray painting a week ago. I watched almost all your vids, read all comments you responded to on youtube and instagram (it's kind of a scattered Q&A lol). I'm still learning and I understand why it's your passion. It's fucking awesome! Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I'm grateful for all the work you put into your youtube channel. It's very valuable. Cheers from Montreal!
Gunman, love all your videos man..And yes anyone can learn from your video's if your not learn something new everyday then they are all just dummies! !!!!!Thanks again for your video's..Painter for live!!!!! here, in California. .
Never a more true statement then that im 25 years of painting and never satisfied and always looking to improve. Nobody is a true jedi imo were trying to but not there yet!!!hehehaha
I always think a good painter is highly skilled but has humility. You should always be open to learn. Everyone brings something to the table if they take pride in their work. And a key thing, you gotta love taking something and making it nice again 🤛
thanks gunman for the GTI pro video saved up and got one.... this is the best gun ive ever used, ive gone with the 110 air cap love it, My slg gun just using for 2k primer now the differences is like light and day
Hello Gunman! I want to thank you for your TH-cam channel. I was turned onto your channel while researching my next gun purchase which ultimately was the USA version Tekna Pro-Lite, #703566 (1.2, 1.3, 1.4 tips - TE10, TE20 and separate HV30 caps). Last week when I first loaded my gun and started shooting I noticed it was extremely louder than my Iwata LS400 Supernovas Ive been spraying for about 6-7 years now. I'm thanking you for this video in particular because you nailed my big question, Devilbiss hasn't contacted me yet with an answer to my question, but this video explains the sounds that I was getting. This gun is much louder than the Supernovas. Now I know my gun isn't a defect haha. Your Pro-Lite videos and reviews DID ultimately make my decision on my Tekna purchase, ive used twice and I'm impressed sofar. Again, thank you. I have been hooked on your videos for the past month or so, haven't made it thru them all yet but Ill get there LOL. Your channel and knowledge is very informative, even to this 25 year plus automotive painter. We all learn something new every day and Ive seen that this channel will answer a lot of questions most painters will encounter while in the booth. Thanks, Chris in Idaho USA Keep up the good work!!
Well said mate. Better to encourage and support others as anyone can criticize. All painters make mistakes they just dont tell people about it. Its important to make mistakes that way you learn. From prep to paints application and finishing. It's a craft.
A good painter wants to go to work and dont ring in sick a dozen times a year,, and works clean with clean gear. i am only a backyarder but have worked in a few shops,, i loved it.
We do get the special edition gun over here in USA, Steampunk prolite edition. The black Tekna is quick clean and the color u guys get is just a anodized.
Hi Gunman. T shirts landed from the USA.....before the UK black ones Shop looks lots better now and sure we can paint some shit better in our new tops.
whats up gun your doing great don't listen to negative people some people learn faster than other people every car you spray looks great to me and thanks for tips and helping other to learn from the hard mistake you learn from your awesome
Gunman, can you do a video on the T110 air vs Te10..Or the T110 vs Te20 air cap..I would like to buy a T110 air cap for the more flatter finishes but i need to know uf it would be the same as buying a Te10 air..Thanks,Painter for live!!!!
I bought the GTI Pro over the lite version based on what he said in another video, in which he said something about liking the feel of it better. I just held it a minute or two waving it and it does feel kinda heavy but I'm doing guitars which don't take long per coat, and I think it's heaviness might keep me from making a whip motion at the end of each pass plus may help me to make smooth even passes. Plus I wonder how they got it lighter, maybe the parts were aluminum instead of stainless steel, whatever,.if I was doing cars than maybe I'd worry more about my decision.
Another great lesson, I would bet I speak for many when I say dont stop talking, you think your rambling on, but its far far better than listening to music, (my opinion)and just adds to the whole story of the Gunman, I have watched all of your posts and to the annoyance of my wife Im painting some shit lol My car but its rubbish and keep getting monster orange peel, might try a new gun...All the best buddy from the uk
@TheGunmanChannel The gunman.
I'm a beginner painter painted a couple of vehicles in the last year they turned out ok was wondering what u would sugest for a beginner painter that wants to step it up and buy a better spray gun the one i use now is a euro. also I'm redoing a jeep cj7 and i was planning to use my dry flake gun to flake my jeep lightly n clear over any suggestions? hope u do more with the flake gun on ur show. I've learned alot from watching them and greatfull for them this i David hammond from Minnesota gunman rocks
Gunny, good review and you are right, both guns are the same from a painting point of view, the weight saving is great on the pro light but I would prefer to use the metal baffle from the GTI.
Edit: You semi answered this in your DeVilbiss Air Cap Spray demo but I'd love confirmation on the first part of the question below. Quick question Gunman, would the GTI Pro (not the lite) be ok with low cfm compressor (i.e 30 gallon, 7.3 CFM @ 40 PSI/16.425LPM @2.7579bar) It will only be for hobby use, non professional weekend warrior kind of thing. And if it is ok to use, Is there a specific cap that would make it work better? Thanks from the United States!
Great videos Man,I rekon that guy that knows everything never gets any runs either it's not about knowing everything i've been spraying almost 30 years 20 of those as a tradie there is always something to learn even if it's just a different technique for a different application there is no hard and fast rule just the basics and you adapt from there hey, experience is the teacher it's all done with a flick of the wrist ha ha ,keep up the great work\vids Man.
Great videos! I'm somewhat new to your channel, so I haven't watched all the videos... Newbie question (not gun related): Do you back tape the doors? I've heard some people do and don't. I plan on painting my car black with a red pearl and not sure to leave doors on or off. Thanks for any info!
It'll depend on the job, each job is different so must be treated as such. If not painting the jambs then usually leave the panels on and mask them off.
Good vid mate as allways and you obviously thought about it alot. What about the T110 as they make one to suit both guns. A difference you think? To learn something new everyday is a great thing and to admit it is too. Stay humble, learn all you can and keep on getting out there and painting some shit. 👍
I've always used SATA but I don't want to pay the SATA money. Haven't painted in years really, but I'm about to go back to it. I was thinking of getting this gun since it's cost is a lot lower. Know how it compares to the SATA jet 3000?
I've never used the SATA 3k but I can say that the DeVilbiss are in my opinion the best bang for your buck, great build quality so they'll last and are capable of awesome finishes with ease. I will say they're a little slower than the current SATAs but it isn't by much and it's mainly because new SATAs are way out with their tip sizing a 1.3 SATA actually measures 1.47
Probably been beaten to death. BUT, for someone like me, in the US, in a fairly small town where would i look to get a legit devilbiss, sata, iwata? best i know is spray guns direct. i am currently using a Walcom slim combat but would like to get something strictly for my clear and use the Walcom for base. highly considering a gti pro or pro lite. willing to invest in a supernova. Do not want to end up with a cheaply made copy though!!
Very good congratulations and thanks for the videos are very useful for us to understand which are the best spray guns. I wanted to ask you a tip since I've always been a longtime fan of OBBY and I've been doing this work for a year now, but still a lot to learn. I wanted to ask you only 3 simple tips for using satajet but i want to buy devilbiss gti pro lite of this last ever used i could give you some tips for using it if i can add a micro manometer, the optimum bar pressure to paint it If I have to keep both the fan and the ever-open color knob etc. let me know something look like your advice as you are a true professional in the industry. thank you.
sorry to keep going on but cromax doesn't blend well because it covers too well that's why that extra bit of binder helps to reduce it down a bit nxt time you've got a small blow in to do give it a try mate !!
Yeah that's right but in doing that you reduce the colour and lose coverage so I guess you nearly have to go in with 3 guns, 1 with base blender, 1 with full colour and 1 with diluted colour. I'm in 2 minds with this stuff, one day I love it then I'm 50-50
+The Gunman yea that's right mate youve gotta find a happy medium I struggled for months this works fine for me I try not to really soak my blend panels too I put it on so it's just wet enough to lie flat you don't want that shit standing up on you! but with the extra binder even the over spray lies flat hope this helps !!
Robert Haughtey I'm surprised mate, I was able to get decent results right off the bat so thought that it'd only take a little fine tuning and I'd have it nailed, 3+ months and only just starting to figure it out.

have any of your reps advised you to add 20 % + extra binder in your water base and no wet bed that's what we do at work troublesome colours as much as 30% you could try putting 1 coat on drying it and then follow up with a barely wet tech coat thats what we do the boss doesnt like us using a wet bed because we can't book out binder alone to a job give it a whirl can't go wrong bud!!!
GREAT job gun hope this post find's you well my frind like you alway's say bar girls cant eat love! get out and paint some shit bog that car! Put a plug in for our mate dead farang!
Highly recommend this little beauty, it's an amazing gun at a great price www.spraygunsdirect.co.uk/index.php/ani-mini-gravity-spraygun.html#sthash.qdZQwK0F.dpbs

Gracias

Dear Gunman I have a question. How much time is required between base coat and clear coat?
it's on the can
Gunny, good review and you are right, both guns are the same from a painting point of view, the weight saving is great on the pro light but I would prefer to use the metal baffle from the GTI.
What do you think about tekna basecoat? I'm looking for basecoat gun

hey gunny mate , what would you suggest the best gun for painting metallic solvent ?

hi gunman... Nice video... i want ask you something... what cap is better for Cromax Pro Waterborne in a GTI Pro??. T20 le t10??? 1.3???
the walcom is where its at.

hey gun man! i enjoy your videos! what psi you set the prolite for base and clear?
+Frank Caltabiano thanks Frank
Hope i can get an old gun from you idol. 😍😍😍
Great job
Hey can i have your help i want to paint motorcycle plastic do i need primer before the paint or i apply paint first??????
You must use plastic primer on any bare plastic parts, I recommend watching Spray Painting for Beginners, it's on my channel.
How can i make the paint to to get of the plastic if i bend its for enduro purposes and im going to fall many times :/
sorry to keep going on but cromax doesn't blend well because it covers too well that's why that extra bit of binder helps to reduce it down a bit nxt time you've got a small blow in to do give it a try mate !!
Yeah that's right but in doing that you reduce the colour and lose coverage so I guess you nearly have to go in with 3 guns, 1 with base blender, 1 with full colour and 1 with diluted colour. I'm in 2 minds with this stuff, one day I love it then I'm 50-50

Robert Haughtey I'm surprised mate, I was able to get decent results right off the bat so thought that it'd only take a little fine tuning and I'd have it nailed, 3+ months and only just starting to figure it out.

Haha crazy hey
U r a badass painter
The TE10 fan looked more controllable in your video or was just your technique with that tip?
Yeah I find the TE10 the best which I'm surprised from what I previously thought of it.
Sorry mate jusft got a gun im just starting out mate gee there is so many paints out there im so confused
How much does a gti pro lite cost ? Found one on ebay for $100 not sure if its real
Belo trabalho!

16 grams is how much more the GTI Pro weighs than the lite, as stated early in this vid. Since I and others may be more familiar with ounces, I used an online converter: 16 grams is equal to .564 oz. zzubuzz its 60 grams, 2.11 ounces

have any of your reps advised you to add 20 % + extra binder in your water base and no wet bed that's what we do at work troublesome colours as much as 30% you could try putting 1 coat on drying it and then follow up with a barely wet tech coat thats what we do the boss doesnt like us using a wet bed because we can't book out binder alone to a job give it a whirl can't go wrong bud!!!
Pro lite all the way 👍

Gunman thank you very much for what you do. Watching your videos is like being in school. Keep up the good work.
