      1997-1999 expy consoles are narrower than the ones out of 2000-02 expy. The way you can tell is the cup holder area in the narrow there is no gap between the two cup holders,in the wider one there is a gap in between the two. Also, if the donor expy still has seats the narrow console seats will have armrests' whereas the wide one do not.

    I was fortunate and lucky to have the opportunity to purchase my 99 F150 XLT 4X4 in 21. Paid 3k for it. This was during a time I couldn't find anything for under 7k that didn't have problems I'd have to pay to fix.
    Needed new tires and an AC compressor. Had one of the spark plugs pop out, stripped the threads in the block.
    Had those fixed.
    For me the best part was finding out it had the 5.4L.
    Replaced the cassette stereo with a touch screen and had a backup camera installed. USB/AUX port was installed where the previous owner put screw holes on the dash. Previous owner probably had a radio.
    Plan to replace all 4 speakers with SONY's and 2 subwoofers for independent bass for each side.
    Need to get the windshield replaced.
    Need stepping rails.
    Need to replace fog domes and lights.
    Need to get a new rear light dome by the license plate.
    Need to deal with the broken antenna base on the roof.
    Need to fix the backup top lights.
    I like the lower mirrors on the sides of the truck. It lets me see the rear wheels when driving and backing up. Makes parking between the lines easier. Helps to not be too far over to the right when driving down the road. Has the telescopic side mirrors.
    Plan to head to Duck Tape Drag Week in the future.

    I have the exact same truck, same color, same interior, and mine is in outstanding condition, I'm in CA so none of those engine mods would fly here, I like those wheels and never even thought about spacing them out farther but it looks great, I've been wondering if an a Ford SUV full length console would fit, I like the look of a full length console much better, I put an Android head unit in mine and made all the cuts with a multi-tool which makes the job much easier, how big of an improvement did all the engine mods make, I would be afraid of driving in wet weather for fear of that intake sucking in water, you just don't see many Flareside 4x4's and especially really nice ones, I love mine and get compliments all the time, I think yours is the nicest I've ever seen, so glad you didn't ruin it with a massive{and worthless} lift kit and monster tires, your truck is custom but still practical as an everyday vehicle, beats dropping $60,000 to $90,000 for a new fully loaded truck.

    • @DrivingIntelligence
      @DrivingIntelligence  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for this comment! You just summed up my channel... I don't want to buy an expensive new truck. I want something custom and different, and drivable on a daily basis. Unfortunately, alof the 10th Gen F150 crowd are younger people who want big tires on a lift with loud exhaust, but my customizations can be performed on most any truck or manufacturer. I have a tone of 10th Gen F150's at this Playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLGNsbVXzRfZOX-wS2iUKt82qXuGjygULH.html & I did the console upgrade here: th-cam.com/video/sTDyUYM3g_s/w-d-xo.html In fact, I have several videos showing the customization of this console in that Playlist. As far as performance from the mods, it is a vast improvement. Highway driving at 80 mph is a breeze with lots of power. But I also changed the gearing to 4.10 which is another Playlist on my channel: th-cam.com/play/PLGNsbVXzRfZORzgcoLukxGkQzyE5wXrpj.html The truck is so much more comfortable and modern with all my changes. Make sure you subscribe. I have many more videos coming.

    A fairly common problem is the blend door failure and the blend door actuator failure. My actuator failed recently and I'm currently in the process of replacing it. It's a pita for me to lay on the floor working on the thing. When I replaced my spark plugs 50k miles ago, I used anti-seize on the threads. I had some misfires recently caused by spark plug on one cylinder and cop on the other. I'm also replacing the rest of the plugs and cops. Denso iridium plugs and Motorcraft cops from rockauto. I replaced those two plugs and they were still quite tight. So, I assume using anti-seize on the plug threads is acceptable. I did torque them to an estimated 28 ft lbs using my calibrated arms/hands! Ha! My 2000 F150 5.4 bought new had 170k miles on it when I lost touch with it and no plugs ever blew out. My current 02 has 171k miles on it and no plugs have blown out. Knock on wood!

    Beautiful truck! I drive a 2002 lariate supercrew with the 5.5 flare side bed. I also never use anti seize on my spark plug threads. Anti seize become seize after time. Those will never blow plugs out of the holes unless someone stripped the threads. What happened is the fuel rails go outward in where the exstention for the socket being at a slight tilt causes people to strip those threads, so they need to use a ball swivel universal on the plug socket. Also people need to stop using dielectric grease because vaseline is a non conductor and works better

We have a 2020 Edge, but when wife and I go somewhere, we take the truck. Taxi cabs with the 4.6 and 4R70W have been known to go over 1,000,000 miles with basic servicing. Don't think I'll live long enough to put that many miles on it, but will keeping racking them up so we'll see.

    Pardon my ignorance, but I just bought my first truck (2003 F150 4.6 4x2) and am finding your videos very informative and very daunting haha. But in this video you mention 275/55/20 tires and in another you said the wheels were 30inch. I looked it up and the 275/55/20 config came out to 31.9”. So I was wondering if you put a leveling kit on to accommodate the extra couple of inches? I’m trying to maintain my rake for fuel economy but also figure out what size tire I can get away with in a 18” or 20” wheel. Keep posting man! You do a great service.

    • @DrivingIntelligence
      @DrivingIntelligence  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thanks for the very good question. First, I had also raised my front end to make the truck level using the leveling keys, but did not like the look with the new tires, so I reduced to stock level with the rake and got a good alignment. About the tire size, check out this video: th-cam.com/video/GB9sA1xGKOY/w-d-xo.html I talk specifically about the difference in tire size posted on sites like you found, and what I measured. Mine are 15" from center of wheel to ground which makes the effective diameter 2x15 or 30". The 275/55-20's did not require any modification when used with the BORA adapters. Thanks for the compliments, keep watching and make sure you are subscribed!

I rebuilt my valve body with components found in the description of the first video in the transmission playlist.

    Do those wheels bolt right on? Are they the same bolt pattern?

    • @DrivingIntelligence

      Hi there, thanks for reaching out and commenting. No, this is not a bolt-on. It requires adapters. Look at the "Description" section of my video to see links to the videos that cover the adapters I used.

      Bought them at Late Model Restoration. Although I had one failure within the warranty period, and they replaced with no issues, I have had good performance from these lights.

      awesome... King Ranch trucks are very nice. I picked up some interior seats at the bone yard for my White F150. I also have a Harley Davidson F150 in the garage. Love that truck, and like you, no issues at all with 33,000 miles. ;)

    Is your truck lifted? Or stock hight..

    • @DrivingIntelligence
      @DrivingIntelligence  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      my truck is stock ride height. In fact, I had the keys turned up to raise the front about an 1" and didn't like the look. Wrenching up the keys can put stress on your driveline. I've had no issues with clearance after returning the truck to stock ride height.

      I have a 2002 4.6 4x4 extended cab with the 8 foot bed.(rarer combo). I did the audio system early when I bought it. I have $500 in suspension parts sitting in the box. Threw some svt wheels on it with 33 inch tires and I’ve gotten 15,000 miles out of it since I bought it for $900

      awesome! These trucks are tough and their popularity is growing, like their resale value!

    I stopped at no ant-seize. Always use anti-seize. Threads need lubricant to properly torque. I have driven 5 different 10th generation F-150’s. And never had spark plug problems. Rebuilt front end on all. Ball joints. Bearings. You name it.

    • @DrivingIntelligence
      @DrivingIntelligence  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We are going to have to disagree here... I have never used anti-seize on plugs and have never had a problem either. The best mechanics out there say never use anti-seize on these engines / plugs. But if it works for you, you do you! ;)

    •  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@DrivingIntelligence Sorry. You are wrong I suppose you run lug nuts down on rusty threads. Always use anti. Sieze. You do not rebuild an engine without lubricating bolts and threads. You need to to achieve proper torque.

    •  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@DrivingIntelligence It’s ok. Life is a learning process.

    •  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@DrivingIntelligence. Another place you use anti-seize is muzzleloaders. Cap and Ball revolvers. Breech plugs will seize and you never get them out. Nipples on cylinders. All threads on blackpowder are prone to lock. Enter Anti-Seize.
