Im here to figure out the color too, I just rebuilt my hemi and added a stg 2 cam, and a lot of other upgrades, so I wanted to help my upgrades by adding a catch can to help keep oil vapors from getting into my intake manifold. I empty the catch can around once a month, with around a half inch of that brown milky looking stuff. I also live in a very cold climate in the winter, Maryland area. Thanks for explaining it!

I have been using OEM Honda full synthetic blend for eight years. I finally switched to Mobil 1 Extended Performance two years ago. I noticed a big improvement in engine noise and smoother acceleration. I read online that people also said that when they switched from Mobil 1 to Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, they noticed greater noise reduction and better acceleration. Now, there are videos claiming that Valvoline Restore and Protect is even better, making your engine sound like an EV and accelerating like a Bugatti. I am totally lost. I do plan on using Restore and Protect in all my vehicles.

If you have piston slap mean you have too much wear clearance already and changing oil brand won't rebuild those metals for you buddy, but if you go for a heavier oil it will help, I had a car with piston slap i went from 5w30 to 5w50, problem solved for many years I drove over 100k miles after and no problem

Yes a lot of hype for sure. Just started using it. One thing I noticed is the smell compared to other engine oils. Smells very unique and quite foul.😂 Must be the "cleaning detergents"?

I switched from 5W-30 to 0W-20 this shit is that good, my car got recalled for oil burning & this shit is really good. My MPG when down but thats it. Running like a champ.

in general any proper full/100% syn oil would clean up sludge and varnish from insides including dipstick, but at very slow rate. I had this case 10+ years ago after dealer put some conventional oils and I have to clean up it afterwards before this oil geek guy was even born. but this is a great point to easy and simple check if any oil including VRP really works

For a great filter made to correct specs with the bypass valve i recommend purolator boss or one, line of filters. Theyre really well made with high quality materials and the price is reasonable. I even like their cheap line of filters wich are great when doing flushes.

I'm literally about to do an oil change with this oil in my subaru outback right now

I bought a 2000 f150 7700 about 15 months ago. Since buying it, I have had to replace the alternator, and have had two spark plugs eject while driving (at different times). I always associated my stuttering engine at idle with spark plugs about to blow until this 2nd one went. I have a leak in the vacuum system apparently associated to the EGR sensor, waiting on parts. I need to hire someone to do the last 6 plugs.

I've been running it in my 04 Ram 2500 5.7 for around 3k miles and I have noticed a mild decrease in overall engine noise, the lifters still tick at startup but they shut up much faster than before.

I sold my 2002 F150 with the 5.4 engine at 170,000 miles. It was still only using a quart of oil in 5k miles. The last two oil changes at 5K intervals I added 6 ounces of Seafoam about 30 miles before changing. When I changed the oil it was very black indicating it removed additional sludge and the engine valve train was noticeably quieter after the first use on cold startup. The valve train was quiet when warmed up. If the Valvoline Restore oil had been available before I sold it I would have tried it. Sometimes I sort of regret selling it but I'm really enjoying my new 2023 Nissan Titan Pro4X. I'm 80 now and I don't enjoy working on autos like I used to... By the way, when I changed the oil adding 6 quarts the dipstick would indicate it was a half quart low. I added an additional pint after a couple of oil changes and it would immediately burn that extra pint. So, afterwards I only put 6 quarts in it after draining.

Can you post a video of the piston slap sound? I have a noise after doing the full timing set with Ford parts that goes away as the temp goes up. Don’t know if piston slap or bad lifter/roller

Engine oil already has up to 14 additives in it.

There's 2 adjustments to be made when adjusting you steering gear box. The thrust bearing preload and pitman shaft adjustment, and there's a specific way they need to be adjusted or you will damage your gear box.

Definitely need to use at least the dealer recommended spark plugs or better in the skyactiv engines. Great motors and great mileage but maintenance can be a little more expensive that other econoboxes. But the 2.0L's have been dead nuts reliable for me.

That F150 is SO NICE! Too bad it's got fhat boat anchor of an engine.
