First off, L…A…R…R…Y…!!!!!!! love the new headlights… I bought the same design for my old ‘99 F150 and loved them. They look like the ‘04-08 generation and look killer!! Secondly, my ‘99 felt the same way so it probably had that same issue with the cable!! Keep up the incredible work!! 👍
I noticed the same gap on my 97 Chevy pickup and was thinking of what to use to accomplish this hack, but had not considered zip ties. I will do this to it. Thank you for the video!
my dad had a 2000 with a 5.4 stock exhaust and true full throttle sounded amazing and never got stretched that I remember and something i noticed before he sold it was that it felt that it had a massive cam but it was just plugs
Sounds really good dawg. Good thing you're in the country. City people don't like them loud pipes. I'm in the country part of forest Mississippi. We revv loud pipes a lot round here lol.
I had a 99 lariat, green and gold. Awesome truck , I did the same thing, worked well. The biggest improvement was the larger throttle body. It was reasonably cheap on eBay. It just bolted on. A new return spring and a high flow air filter was worth about 40 horsepower more all said and done.
I remember the first time I put a real aftermarket exhaust (MagnaFlow) on my 2001 Ford Expedition XLT. I never turned on my radio again. I just loved listening to that small block. Did the same on my 2004 Explorer XLT and that 4.0/V-6 sounded wicked (it's on my channel's trailer).
Not a bad idea, if the throttle cable stretches that bad, consider replacing it with a new one. Also, there was a slight wobble in your steering wheel that looks to me like your alignment is a little off. But it was steady when you were cruising. Nice truck, have a good week !
As soon as I read the title I knew exactly where those zipties were going. I did the same thing to my 98 mustang cobra and it felt like it gained 30% more power also.
@fido139 I'm definitely not doing what he did. I have a mean sounding 500hp V8 Lexus that I have for fun, the truck is going to be subtle or stay untouched.

sounds like catless straight pipe, if you’re looking for a pretty mild volume that still sounds good I would go with a flow master flow fx, specifically the one that looks similar to a glass pack, got some on my truck and I love them
I have a 1987 Chevrolet Caprice mint car garage kept 250,000+ had motor replaced to keep her going Turns out full throttle is only 1/6 throttle haha. Very peppy now definitely would recommend.
My 1993 2.3 5sp 2wd has 506,000+ on original engine transmission and rear end! Been my daily to work truck for last 12 years. I got it 12 years ago for $1400 because it needed a new hydraulic clutch cylinder. Amazing what regular maintenance and some preventative maintenance does!!! No tics taps or raps, nor does it leak anything
I just did the plugs, wires and coils. The ground strap was crazy thin, the gap was probably .070 or .080. Next is the ICM and heater core. Then headliner and center console. Its a beater but better on gas than my 6.2 Silverado
@@johnnyp5573 auto or stick? Only real issue I've had is the hydraulic clutch. I'm on like #3 maybe 4. Clutch not a problem, it's that hydraulic slave cylinder. I'm an asphalt guy so I'm all over the state of Pa. Don't wanna get asphalt all over my nice car n truck. Good luck with yours
I thought I'd go about correcting the issue the "right" way on my truck by replacing the cable with the updated part number. Put the new cable in, and it was almost the same length as the stretched cable.
@@davidl546 I'd expect better from A) something as explicitly designed as a cable, B) from Ford's Motorcraft line, and C) a part supersession. New parts may not be perfect, but this one's baffling.
Ol Larry’s transmission sounds a little slow and tired, maybe even a little slippage on that first pull.😬 Might not be a good idea to beat on it that hard. I think he deserves a fresh trans, he’s treated ya pretty good over the years!
Unless you actually looked at the throttle stop before and after the zip ties you don’t really know how much you gained or didn’t gain… every pedal has that play where you can lift it up
For real though, at 2:02, that alignment is pretty bad. The front wheels should be exactly parallel to each other, and both exactly vertical. His passenger side wheel was leaning in(negative camber), and his drivers side wheel is about right, maybe. With the steering wheel dead straight, hopefully one of the wheels is also pointed dead straight. His passenger side wheel is taking a slight right hand turn while the drivers side is taking a slight left hand turn, but much less. No bullshit. Fix that and you’ll gain more acceleration that what you did with those zip ties. Especially with those big blocky tires, any scrubbing is like pushing an anchor down the street, not to mention I’ll bet those tires were $300+ a piece , and they won’t last 10,000 miles with that alignment. Unless you are dirt only. Even then, with the wheels fighting each other and the truck, you might as well put a piece of wood under the gas pedal and pour some water in the tank. Use a tape measure to find the distance between an exact same point, like the inner most point of the sidewall, at it’s rear most point, which will be halfway up, like the 3 o’clock position, and then the 9 o’clock position, both on the inside sidewall and compare the two measurements. They should be the same. I’ll bet a $3 bill that the front of the tires is 3/4” or more further apart than the rear part of those tires. You’ll find tie- rod collars between each outer and inner tie- rod and, or maybe the inner tie-rod simply turns when you break loose a nut which holds the tie rod adjusters in place after you are done. Find a level or cut a piece of aluminum or steel to fit just inside the lip of your wheels, at the diameter, and use a level to see what angle your wheels are, meaning the top part should be exactly above the bottom part. Turn the adjusters to see which way the wheel is moving, but count how many revolutions you do on each side, and which direction. Very important. And use ratchet straps to hold the steering wheel exactly dead center. It’ll turn tighter, more stable, quieter, and wear your tires less, cut a couple of tenths(maybe) off your 0-60 time, get better mileage, all just by getting those front wheels pointed in the right directions. Would you place your foot with the outer edge leading each step? That would suck and your outer sole would wear prematurely. Get it? Got it? Good. Also, sign up to the LKQ website, if y’all have one within 50 miles, and punch in whatever years are compatible with your truck’s parts, and you’ll get emails whenever Ford trucks with interchangeable parts show up. A seat swap is a breeze, and cheap. While you’re at it, just park your truck inside the gate and walk home, you’ll be better off! That was a bad joke. Lord I do apologize for that cheap joke. The truck is nice. Be proud. Screw the naysayers. I’m just trying to help, and YOU can do it all yourself. Just read and watch a zillion how-to’s, ignore the crap that seems like BS, remember the right ways, get at it. Imagine having to replace those tires tomorrow . It wouldn’t be in my budget for sure. But that time will come down bearing on your neck, and you’ll be stressed too much, over something you could have prevented. For real. Do it. Do it.
Now, if you want it to go REALLY fast you need a peel & stick hood scoop and a sticker that says TURBO.
I’ll definitely have to do that on my 10th gen, feels like it’s halfway to the floor just being easy on it haha. Thanks for the idea
did this on my truck took all of a minute and gave me so much more power. gave my 25 year old tenth gen her power back
i have 02 Silverado and it had the same throttle problem and this worked on my truck thank you!!!!

Been watching Larry for awhile now, looking good, good job I'm jealous
Beautiful truck 🛻 great sound as well
You can achieve the same thing by bending the bracket that holds the cable at the throttle body. It did make a noticable difference in a 4.3
I have a 2004 f150 doing slow upgrades to it im wanting to put a different muffler its the 5.3 triton motor what is the best one to buy its gas v8
You should swap the front valance on Larry with one that has fog lights or put a expedition one on
Have you done all 8 spark plugs?
It's always a good when imfscrew posts a new video
What headlights were these?

How do you do all that. I know my pedal is doing it
Get some sequential tube switchbacks to fill in the gap on the headlight!!! I’ve been wanting to try it on my 01 Silverado but haven’t tried yet!!
Have somebody push the pedal down and hold then see if there is anymore slack at the the throttle body .
Love the Larry content
Those triton motors are pretty decent. I used to own a 99 extended cab Eddie Bauer edition. It ran very good.
Larry be lookin good!
Larry sounds amazing!
What is Larry’s muffler set up
what exhaust do you have
Should have done a before and after with the Dragy 👍
Those cables all stretch over time. Just cut a couple inches off and make it all tight again. No need for zip tie spacers.
I was thinking the same thing. There should be a way to tighten it up by where it connects to the throttle body.
Larry vs Chomper pull off in the field? 😮
Dragy test on larry??

All Larry needs now is 4:10s or 4:56 gears to shoot down the road like a Tesla

Those clips on top of the headlights should come off… they are just there from where they sealed the lights together
