    Sometimes all you need is a good automotive reset with a Miata on a great road

      But not everyone is so lucky to have such a great road near by.

      Kyle, so glad to see you drive the NC Miata. I had an '06. Loved it. Was early on the list for a Cosworth supercharger but the very first ones delivered started spitting crankshafts out onto the road. and they stopped.
      Coil-overs and a lighter exhaust are a must, but after that it has the greatest $/fun ratio of any car I have owned. You can't really feel the full fun of it unless fender-to-fender with other Miatas on a track. I drove all over, Tail of the Dragon, Ozarks, Hill Country Texas, Colorado... Cruise control Will Set at 140mph but won't hold if there is uphill or any headwind.
      Looking back, I've had some fast cars. Any Camry has a faster 0-60 but very few cars are more everyday fun to drive than a Miata!
      Edit: Regarding wintering it in Colorado- I had a family emergency and my wife's Subaru was out of town. I went from the Dallas area to Estes Park via Lyons in a blizzard when the road was 'closed' on Pirelli summer tires. No car I have driven has the raw handling of the Miata. God, I miss that car. Wish I had more room and I would add one.

    Great esthetic mods. It looks muuuuch better that way. I would like to see it with roof up. It takes out the weight of the overall look on the NC. Not a fan on custom mx5 usually uglier than original, but here wow! I will probably copy this if I find a good candidate as a daily NC sometimes this year. For now i use my restored NA to save on fuel but it is somehow too nice for a daily.

May I ask what spoiler that is? Gorgeous car, any chance you might be at the Reunion at Barber racetrack this summer?

    I just purchased one of these a few weeks ago. It's safely in winter storage right now, but I'm already looking to upgrade in the spring. What suspension set up did you go with? I've been looking at options from Flying Miata and Goodwin racing. Did you do the install yourself? If so, how difficult was it? Cheers.

    Fantastic video. I have a 2008 NC with PRHT (in Red Copper Mica--not the nicest red, but not bad, either). The car has just over 27,000 km on the odometer and has never been winter driven. I do lament the fact that I didn't wait for the next year (and the forged crankshaft / suspension attachment and bushing changes). Do you think that the mods you used in your vehicle would work in mine... and would it be worth it for me to spring for the engine and transmission you have, perhaps with a few more mods to open up the torque and perhaps lower the final drive ratio? Any advice you may have would be most welcome.

    All Miatas feel much slower with a passenger...150 or 200 lbs makes a huge difference in these cars. He should have taken it for another rip alone, just to feel the difference. I'm sure that altitude didn't help either. Compared to my previous NAs and NB, my NC feels relatively torquey (driving alone .... At sea level ... On hight test ... 😂)

    Nice NC but the black on the hood IMO doesn't do anything for the car. I'm curious do you have the 2.0 L or the 1.8 L. ? I know certain models did come with the 1.8 L , not sure why Mazda did that.

    • @lordflyquad4721
      @lordflyquad4721 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      All U.S. NC Miatas are 2.0 L. Of course now many enthusiasts are swapping in 2.5s, but all came from the factory with 2.0.

    The NC Miata is a great car but the Fiat 124 is actually a better driving car. More usable and better looking (Subjective). I have owned both and I will take 124 Fiat any day over a Miata but a Miata would be my 2nd choice for sure.
