Its weird given how big Miata following is but how tight the NC community is. I got an NC1 PRHT and love the thing, just got a set of pilot sports for the car and love the gripyness of them! Feel you on the smart top! I want one so bad but for what it is and the cost of it hurts... NVH videos would be cool, mine rattles like hell... especially with top up
I have a NC1 GT, coil overs, and Enkei wheels with 245mm tires. Just the lowering and bigger wheels/tires combo really enhances the look of the car. After watching your video on the Carbon Miata rear spoiler, I ordered the exact same fiberglass tail - once that comes in my car will go to the body shop to repair and refinish my pitted front bumper and color match the rear spoiler. Thanks for pioneering the NC world. Oh, I have a weakness for door stripes, have a set coming soon.
I agree. I have NC1 with 17" enkei wheels and 235/45/17 tires with eibach springs and koni shocks. handles great and looks good too, very squat and wide.
I just got an NC2 PRHT 2 weeks ago and love it! I owned an NB which was cool but I much prefer having the hardtop and that little extra room and creature comforts. I’ve ordered the stubby antenna and already installed the Moroso coolent tank reservoir. Like you I’m not as concerned with more power per se but I would love to improve the sound with header and pipes. Would be very interested to see you doing that mod! Thanks for sharing your journey and if you and Ghost ever make it down to Vegas hmu!
The rock chips and that ding in the side are so easily taken care of and will make it look so much better. Tons of videos on it and it's not any work to deal with small spots like those.
I also have a Miata in the same color. Mine is a softtop, 20th anniversary model. Love every second I drive in it! Best purchase ever. The garage I bought it from also had the green special edition for sale a few weeks later. That color really pops! I understand you wanna wrap yours in that color.
Hello from the UK.. I bought my ultra-low mileage, one elderly owner from new, kept in a heated garage and only ever used on warm sunny days 2.0 GT NC1 PRHT in Copper Red about 2 years ago. Unlike you, I COULDN'T live with the lack of power. I lowered it by a couple of inches so it had a proper ride height, fitted aftermarket lightweight dished alloy, and a carbon fibre rear ducktail. So it looked right - but consistently getting blown away by relatively humble family cars became an itch I had to scratch. The best MX5 tuning specialists here are BBR - Brodie Brittan Racing - and although their stage 2 turbo conversion cost slightly more than the car did (Holy Hell!!) - every penny was well spent. It DID have a few teething problems, and I've had to get used to the unforgiving twin plate carbon fibre clutch (part of the conversion as the original won't handle the torque increase) - but the transformation from what it was - 160bhp (but felt like 120bhp) to 300bhp is just incredible. It's still really well mannered - keep a light foot and you wouldn't know - but "give it some" and it just rockets forward. It's now the car Mazda should have offered (as an option) back in the day. The cost (at least over here) makes no sense on paper - but BBR converted cars are really sought after here - and you DO pretty much get your money back as and well (an if!) you come to sale time. The car IS now worth the original value + the conversion cost. But NO plans to sell it.... I did drive some of their milder upgrades, with the mods you were thinking about, and, yes, headers/exhaust/remap helps - and they do feel livelier. But forced induction on these lazy engines is definitely the way to go IMHO...
Funny I saw a green one on EBay uk yesterday. I’d love a white one like yours. I’ve found some nice Red, Blue, and one green ones that I like. I’m not after any other colour. I like watching your videos keep it up
best shift knob is the black Delrin shift knob from Flyin Miata. Weighted and slightly taller than stock and round makes for a great natural feel. Doesn't get overly hot or cold and doesn't wear like leather knobs.
I'm running the FM delrin shift knob in my ND and I really like it. It's a lighter than the stock knob, but I like it. It feels a lot more positive when going from gear to gear and I like it, especially on the track.
You can simply get LED bulbs for the turn signals that have circuitry to mitigate hyper flash without the need for a power-wasting resistor (which can also become a fire hazard). I replaced every bulb in my NC with LED bulbs. Also, I found higher lumen bulbs, so my turn signals are much brighter than stock.
I have a 2008 NC1 with the PRHT. Road and tire noise with the top up is my biggest gripe. Instead of coilovers,I went with Progess lowering springs and Koni yellow adjustable shocks. Less money and if you're not going to track the car it's the way to go. Unfortunately, up here in Maine the roads are so bad in some places that I bottom out. I also have Racing Beat sway bars and Goodwin end links. I went with a Goodwin catted header,Helmholtz midpipe and Super Q muffler. I put in a new head unit and speakers in the doors. I'm on the fence about adding a subwoofer since there is really no good space to put one. There are a couple of small shallow enclosure subs by Pioneer and JVC that you can fit with a little modifying in the places behind the seats where you can remove two panels. I don't think the bass would improve much with these small subs though. More road trip videos would be appreciated.
Thank you for this good video. I like your mod list, all tactfully done. I installed a 3td Millennium horn kit for added safety. We all know all Miatas can be difficult to see particularly when near a big truck. So a horn that blasts 'here I am' is nice to have.
In the market and will get a white with black rims, not doing a spoiler or black on hood. Yes! a Green vinyl wrap is a great idea. British racing green? Have fun with picking a color.
Hello, I have a 2012 NC2 PRHT (6-speed with appearance package). I bought it new. I have the following mods: Performance: Roadstersport Max Power Header (Ceramic coated) Roadstersport Helmholtz Midpipe Roadstersport Super-Q Exhaust Plug and Play 02 Extension cables EcuTek ECU tune K&N Filter Suspension: Cobalt 3-Point Shock Tower Brace Progress Technology Sway bars (front and rear) Progress Technology Springs Koni Sport adjustable Shocks Good-win end links Sport Bumpstop Kit Brakes: StopTech Rotors Porterfield Pads Stainless Steel lines Wheel/Tires: Continental Extreme Contact Sport 225/45/17 Enkei PF01 17x7 (silver) Hubcentric Rings McGard Lug Nuts Cosmetic: Window tint (all windows) Stubby antenna 138k original miles. Drives better than new. Any questions?
Would love to see how it looks and sounds. I have similar except 2011 with soft top. I’m looking to improve comfort in mine. Any of your mods do this? Did the suspension mods help the ride quality over bumps? And is it just me or does all Miata owners have sore backs after long drives?
I’d recommend a quality Radar Detector, lots of options but I recommend the Uniden R7 for the value and you can get refurbished ones on Amazon for cheaper.
Would be cool to see a video about sound insulation. I know it's not a popular direction with Miatas for obvious reasons, but it would be interesting to see if adding couple kilos would improve touring capabilities of this car. Because in stock form, it's not so great ;) I'm planning to do this as well, but I feel that most noise comes from engine/firewall direction, so I'm wondering if insulating trunk or doors would do anything - of course it would be good for the audio, but for motorway cruising...? Not so sure (based on prior experience). So anyway, really interested in this one :)
I have video on this. Go to my channel under Miata playlist and I have several videos on sound deadening. It does make it much better. I take mine on road trips and this made it much better.
If you are talking your car to the track and racing it, ever second counts. If you aren’t then a couple of kilos isn’t going to make any difference. I put sound deadening throughout my NC, I even sealed the gaps between the trunk and cabin and it made a huge difference. It is worth the time and effort. Even the solid thud when I shut the door is satisfying. Just do it. You won’t regret it.
I found on eBay and another web site the thicker sound absorption stuff that sticks to the metal, and I covered my interior floorboard and also added inside the doors everywhere I could reach. I didn’t measure sound so I cannot attest to how much difference it actually made. One concern if you are tracking your car is the extra weight this stuff adds. Also, when I pulled everything out along with the carpet, I used a popular coating I read about on multiple sites to add some moisture protection to the metal. I did that special paint first, two coats, let it dry for a couple of days, and then put in the sound dampening sheets.
I have a NC 2012 true red and I am so happy. After several reviews I think the NC is the best Miata ever. How about upgrading the seats for a Recaro ones?
Hey Jordan, I'd be interested in your experiences of Dynamat and NVH. I get a lot of noise when the roof is up from the void behind the seats, sounds a bit like wind noise but it could be road noise. I have thought about lining the boot (trunk) and void so would love for you to be the guinea pig.
go to my channel and look in my Miata playlist. I have videos on sound deadening and results. If you want to really reduce road noise you have to do the trunk, doors, floor, anyways info is in my videos
Looking forward to seeing the wheels! As far as shift knob, Moddiction has some great ones if you're looking for a weighted one. I'm staying tuned on power upgrades. I'm going through the same thoughts lol
Greetings from Athens, Greece. So far so good. Nice car, superb mods, excellent videos. One question though: In which instance have you installed the shark fin on the trunk?
Hi my friend follow your videos here in the UK. Have you replaced the push horn button ? I’ve got a miata push button and am struggling to get existing button out. Thanks in advance
Hey man nice vid once again. Engine wise i would love to see the 2.5 swap. More power and more torque but keeping the reliability. Plus you still have the option to go boosted later on and make crazy power in the future. Looking to change my civic em2 for a mx-5(Netherlands) this year. I have seen all your video's man keep it up! Greetings from the Netherlands!
Is it legal in the Nethelands such a swap? I mean I know it's fantastic comparing to the 1.8 especially but here in Greece it's illegal....if the y find out of course...
@@gregraptYes it is legal here if you do a check and registration. The most difficult thing is to find the 2.5 engine because i dont think they ever came in cars deliverd here. I saw a vid from the u.k where they had to import the 2.5 from the united states. Too bad it is nog legal in Greece. I know that engine swaps en Belgium are also illegal
I daily drive my NC2 and wishing it were more comfortable. Any of your mods improve ride quality? Does everyone get a little sore during long drives or is it just me? The ride feels bumpy too
On some of the longest trips I’ll use a Purple seat cushion. They have a few options for sizes. Coilovers arguably made it a bit worse than stock for ride quality, but it was necessary for performance and cornering.
Check out one of my recent videos on how I live with the NC! I directly address phone mount solutions, including links in description on how to get the recommendations.
Neither i finally bought my wife's dream car ..nc 2014 hard top. Do you recomend 225/45/17 for daily driving or keep it at 215? ..also any regrets installing in dash aftermarket radio, or would you rather get those new carpuride AA touch screen that you connect to aux/12v?
Congrats! I would recommend 215 on the stock wheels. 225 can start getting in the "too wide" for the 7" wide wheel that comes on the car. But if you're talking about different wheels, let me know, as that could be a different answer. No regrets on the aftermarket infotainment! It's one of my favorite things to this day. It works very well, most likely much better than the aux/12V powered alternate options.

I believe only 1 brand makes a roll bar for PRHT NC's. Would be dope though, I've considered it myself but just haven't committed

you could try suction cup on the door ding, or hammer from behind and touch up with some white paint

I like the OEM Bilstein's on my 2010 MX-5 WITH JUST 5800 miles.
Recommend Raceseng Sphereology shift knob - matches the look of the NC well I think

That came factory, I believe it's the Sirius XM antenna
Have you priced what a full wrap would cost? I've thought about wrapping my black car in white.
Suspension!! Need to update my 2012, and want a #2,000 system but can't afford.

Love the hood divet wrap. Is it something you buy pre-cut or is there a lot of work involved to cut it to the correct shape and size?
