Good video, I agree with every thing you have mentioned. I bought the Titan last summer and so far I really like it a lot. Only small issue I find it that pellets and debris leaks out from the bottom of the hopper or pellet box, not a big deal but I do have to sweep under there after each cook. I am glad I bought this grill, and I do recommend it for others. Even in northern Canada, this grill maintains the temps very well in the winter.
I love my titan. You were the first person I saw talking about it and I picked it up on a whim at Easter on sale. I actually use the custom racks a lot, partially when doing brisket. I''ll leave just the last rack on the top and throw some cream cheese or some peppers on to smoke while the brisket is going.
I have a 1250 and I can comment on the app. I have had my smoker for 3 years now. The app WAS great. I started a cook and left the house. I went out of town and when I got a notice that my target temp was reached I turned off the smoker. Got home and my cook was done the way I wanted. So I loved the app. I say WAS because an update has been done and I can no longer stay connected to the smoker and to reconnect I have to physically go over to bluetooth range and reconnect before wifi takes over again. This make the app useless now. I still love my 1250 but can no longer leave unless I KNOW I will be home before it is done.
I had an issue with the controller. It took Pit Boss almost 2 months to get me another controller. I have issues randomly still with the app controlling the grill. Sometimes it will sometimes it won't. I agree with you on the cleaning of the racks. It's been a pain in the butt. I typically smoke briskets and pork butts consistently and about every other cook I have to vacuum out the grill. The only other issue I've had that Pit Boss has not been able to resolve is my burn box is a pain to remove. It's like stuck in there. I can get it to remove with a small Hammer. And I've had the same issues with the water in the pellet box but getting a cover resolved that issue on my end.
Now the main question is. Titan or Searwood XL? They are both the same price, with just about the same features. Except the searwood gets hotter for those steak nights. The Laredo I have is getting a little long in the tooth, but still works great. I am looking to replace the Laredo next year I think. I hate the app from pitboss though. It’s a 50/50 shot if it’s going to work that day. So I haven’t used the app in forever now. Thank you for this awesome amount of information and what you do.
I’m a huge diehard Weber fan. I have kettles older than me. That being said, with Weber being new to designing pellet smokers, I would side with Pit Boss. Dollar for dollar the Titan is a beast that no other pellet smoker can touch when it comes to included features.
Depends on if you want to smoke more or grill. I really like using my pitboss vertical smoker for smoking salmon, brisket ect. I feel you get more smoke from a vertical smoker than a grill. Since the heat source is further away iis a little harder to grill on. The grill you can do both since the heat source is closer compared to a vertical smoker. Since the heat source is close you have to watch the hot spots.
I watched your first review and unboxing of the Pit Boss Titan. It just so happened that this was the year that I was going to purchase a new smoker, and I was absolutely convinced that the Titan was what I wanted until I found out that they were exclusively sold at Academy stores and there's a wait list, being no Academy stores in Michigan I had to many road blocks for me. I started looking elsewhere at other smokers and came across the Z GRILLS of a comparable size, and wow, was I ever pleased. I still like the features on that Titan, and when you mentioned the direction of the grill, grates realized that mine are in that favorable direction. I cooked all summer on the Z Grill, and being my first pellet smoker, l am pleased with the results. Did a weekend cook for our Masonic Lodge and cooked over 250 lbs of chicken without a hint of trouble, but it did need a good cleaning, and that proved to be rather easy with some of the tips I got from you. Thanks to you, I was aware of some of the features that are important to a good smoker.
I would buy this grill in a NY minute but there is no Academy near me and I'm not paying $300 for shipping. Why PB did this exclusive is crazy. I could have just gone to my local big box store and picked it up and saved big $$$$.
I bought the titan on your initial review aswell. Great follow up I agree with ALL of your points. Comes with a 5 yr warranty and I grill like you 3-4 times a week. I've had treager, this too is my favorite pellet smoker to date and love the content you put out. Keep up the great work grill sergeant 🫡
the app is trash. I cannot control the temp using the app. I have contacted support and they just said to uninstall/reinstall the app. still doesn't work. I just use temp sensors and then manually adjust the temp if needed. I really like my Titan smoker. It checks all of the boxes for my needs. I do agree about the pellet separator and the grill grates. good idea but I just do not use them.

Awesome! I've been watching all your Titan videos lately. Great job! 👍🏾
Thanks for the updated review! Looking forward to upgrading from my 850 to the Titan one day!
Awesome follow-up, Andrew! Definitely looks like a reliable smoker! Thanks for the update! Have a great weekend. Cheers, brother 🍺
A Titan looks like my next smoker!
Great video Sarge!!

Great honest review! I wanted the Titan. But I come to the conclusion I want the Platinum 1250. Hopefully soon!

I constantly use the app.
Being doing this for years. The app is handy.
Vertical vs horizontal smokers. Cooking for 3 most of the time, but sometimes 15. Suggestion?

I have a video covering that exact question! :) th-cam.com/video/4vlrdzJfbdo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=y9SZwWF8zNbtD3YC
What is your opinion on the Titan vs the traeger ironwood xl and timberline xl?

How would you rate this pellet grill against other models such as the Traeger Ironwood 885 or a ReqTeq Grill?
Which pit boss smoker is the best one that we can get from Lowe’s or homedepot if academy sports is not in our state.
How is the sear feature on the titan?
Do we know if this model will be available in the UK?
