@@danielbabcock7004right I love using my smoker for jerky, when it’s cold the p setting is such a hassle. My pitboss starts at 180 my other pitboss is a vertical and starts out at 175. I’m using a dehydrator for jerky right now since it’s cold.
I have a Pit Boss from Lowes, not the biggest but great for me and this thing can cook some serious meat. From steaks, to burgers, to slow smoked meats, it does a great job.
I have about the cheapest one that they make and added a better controller to it...the thing works wonderfully...we use it a lot just to do quick hotdogs on for a tasty lunch and have done more complex smoking like our Thanksgiving turkey.
The removable burn pot is the biggest game changer here. I hate having to take the whole grill apart just to vacuum out the burn pot every time I use my grill.
ive had the same. i have a pit boss 850. Love it but i had issues where i didnt realise the fire burnt longer into my auger and caused it to rust. Was fun fixing that. Now i clean it out every use. This Titan makes it look so much easier.

Wow!! I was planning on buying the series pro 1529 vertical smoker mainly for smoking jerky. However, after seeing this I am probably going with this. The slide out and adjustable and removable section racks is a game changer function. I like the pellet drop dispenser as well. I have a Laredo 1000 and love it. It is an awesome smoker at a great price. Haven’t had one problem with it after a dozen or so long cooks. I also have the portable one for the rv but have had several auger fires with the portable one. Otherwise it does a great job for smaller cooks. The burn pot redesign and vertical auger looks like the auger back burn issue will probably be solved with the titan. They need a redesign auger and pot on their portable unit.
I have two Rottweilers who I usually have outside with me whenever im working on the grill or smoker. They have never gone for the grease bucket, but if it drips on the ground clean up isle deck
You were fortunate to find this new offering at a local supplier. I still have not laid eyes on the PB Pro series vertical that's been out over a year. I have 4 Lowes within 60 miles, they either have no vertical smokers or are trying to sell older models for same price as the newest Pro series model.
Good looking smoker and I like the improvements. What I would like to see is the addition of a smoke box like Camp Chef did. I really think that is a game changer. I am not sure why other manufacturers aren't doing the same.
I have a PB 1150 and having to replace the controller after the first few cooks because it couldn't get past 250°. Putting on a flame tamer. To not get very much smoke. I really hope this delivers.
Ran across this on FB. Came here to watch in better quality. Very nice walk-through. Subscribed and will checkout your channel. I want see spatchcock chicken, beef ribs, and bone-in pork shoulder. Man the rapid fire ignitor is freaking awesome! Installed one in my Laredo 1000 and it really does have fire ignited in under 2 minutes. I'm very interested in the VST. And the angled auger is great idea. Should help keep dust from accumulating in tube as well. Love how PitBoss is taking notice to the Mods we do and are integrating them into new models.
@markvalleys7072 yeah, the PID is a little too safe with the rise rate. I've never really had that much of a problem with it. But I also learned early on and use the Prime button as part of my startup routine.
@@scottsmith539 I was used to my Austin XL and sold it to buy the updated Onyx version. But I saw the Laredo and tried it out. Boy I was disappointed lol so I took it back and got the onyx. Reached 500° within 15 min
Nice, they FINALLY moved the internal temperature probe to the middle of the smoke instead of at the end where the hot air blows out and hits it, requiring you to modify the smoker with a blast deflector to get more of an accurate temperature reading.
I have been holding out to get the Pro 1600 on sale, however… this one looks really nice with some amazing extra features! Would love to see some nice NY Strips or Ribeyes slow smoked and reverse seared on this beauty!
I did have a burn back through the auger and into the hopper in my Green Mountain. The worst part is that I had moved it into my garage not knowing this. Thank god it smoldered out, but the computer connections melted along with some wiring. I was going to go with a charcoal gravity feed smoker since the firebox and hopper are the same. Plus the electronics are on the other side of the grill. (Oklahoma Joe Tahoma) But this new firebox design might bring me back to a pellet grill.
When I was having issues with my Pro Series 6 they were telling me about this coming. Honestly, after the issues I've had with the Pro Series 6 I might be done with Pit Boss.
My 1100 PS is getting a little long in the tooth, but still works amazing. I was going to purchase the 1600 Elite when the warranty ran out, but I think I want a Titan instead..I just do not live near any Academy sports. I guess it will be a road trip
I had put some serious thought into getting a similar smoker for the pulled pork. I finally started using legit wood splits and the flavor is amazing. I don’t blame any of you backyard cooks for using a pellet smoker. No where near the labor of a stick burner.
I love the customizability, storage, change in burn pot and auger, and price. Im curious how difficult and time consuming cleaning will be after using this for a time.
Surprised they didn't design a way to use wood chunks. Grilla and Camp Chef have both set the bar higher by allowing real wood to be used with their pellet grills.
Love my boss 820 except for the junk app. That cleanout and auger angle look awesome, and the enclosed grease drip. Do u know if thats the only size, a little big for my needs, nice vid 👍

Good video and explanations. Just wondering on how easy it would be for someone that isn’t as nimble getting inside to clean out the burn pot and grease bucket. Would that be an issue for older adults that like to smoke meat?
I got that low to film what it looks like but if you want my Titan burn off video I show you how to remove it without getting down to low. Worst case, you can access the burn pot from the inside of the smoker, it’s just more of a hassle that way.
I had a Recteq 590 which I really liked but had burn back through the auger more than once on shutdown. I couldn't really trust it after that. I now have a Yoder and it has the auger set up much higher so the pellets fall into the burn pot but is too high for the pellets to pile up and burn back. Also the Lone Star Grills hopper is 40 pounds for a side mount.
@@GrillSergeant Indeed. This thing looks like a beast. The custom rack system is absolutely awesome but it makes cleaning the racks really easy because if you disassemble each one they fit right in tour kitchen sink. You cant do that with anyone else's racks!
Has the firmware updated for tempereture or time? On the left side where the smokers temp rod is has the rail been rounded or is it still flat? (the heat from the firepot hits the temp rod directly if its not rounded) would have like to have seen a heat diffuser over the firepot for a more even temperature flow. All the other updates look good.
Auger burn back is a real worry. My Pitboss Brunswick just lit my entire hopper overnight after a full cool down. No smoke shown until the next morning.
why would you scoop pellets out the top of the hopper? The hopper empty handle seems like it could be bumped easily. The racks look nice, but I'm not seeing much of a reason move on from my camp chef. It's definitely a step up from the 36" pro I used to have.
