I have a huge history with Digimon media . And yes I’ve seen all of the series and a few of the movies , all tri movies to last evolution etc . Digimon adventure 2 the beginning is on the horizon
Digimon Ghost Game was nightmare fuel similar to gegege no kitaro reboot but enjoyable with mini callbacks and cameos from previous seasons and movies specials

the dubs are so nostalgic for me and i’m so glad they kept the story the same some of the changes were so funny and the voice acting always gets me
Having watched both audios for the original shows, its amazing how the dubs mostly just added jokes, and funny ones at that!
I actually like Digimon alot. The funny thing is though that Frontier is the last one I ever knew about because that was the last one that aired here in Canada, on Canadian channels. We had basic cable at my house, so once Frontier ended in 2003, and Digimon stopped airing on YTV, the channel that was the home of Digimon since the very beginning, that was kind of it for me with the franchise, except for watching and rewatching Digimon: The Movie on VHS, because Digimon wasn't out on DVD here yet, and I had no other way of watching it, it being the mid 2000s when we were still on dial-up, but about to switch over to wireless internet, about the time that Savers/Data Squad started. But it never came back to Canada on Canadian networks.
Definitely sounds like once Disney acquired the Fox Kids library from Saban, they cut ties with YTV
@@Soundout12 That is entirely possible. It's just really hard to tell, because unlike Fox Kids itself, YTV didn't have Power Rangers as a comparison, since they stopped airing Power Rangers after MMPR season 1, and Digimon stayed on the channel through the first four series. All I know is, no other Canadian network picked up Digimon when Data Squad came out. Lol.

@@Soundout12 That is definitely true. The other thing is that YTV also aired Pokemon, which probably had more views on the station than Digimon did. Especially once Adventure was over and Tamers started.

31:31 Digimon data squad in the west , aired on toon Disney , later changed to DisneyXD, was a mix of older characters and a mix of return cast like agumon , but alas it was the last time we saw Digimon on tv for a few years ago, similar to yuguoh arc v Been skipped s2 aired season 1 & 3 then no broadcast in the USA for vrains oddly enough. But that’s another story! 😅😅😅 yugioh through the years I also have history with but home media has not been in its favor lately 😢😢😢
7:18 I remember Digimon fusion season 1-2 on Nicktoons network in my area ( various depending on your region in the USA or international wise ) but sad they skipped season 3 with the mini crossover of past MCs
I speculate that they didn’t dub season 3 partly for content, partly for the bad ratings on season 2 and partly because they didn’t want to find actors for the returning characters

I think I'm a weird Digimon fan. The things I like I really love, the ones I don't I just really don't care. I love the original Adventures and its movies, Tamers, Universe and Ghost Game. But everything else I just really cant manage to like. I watched everything as it was being released, mainly because my love of adventures and tamers, but took me until Applimon to get back to like digimon. Actually I imagine that not being a fanboy made me really enjoy applimon and ghost game. Don't know if I can say that I'm a digimon fan so, or at least i'm sure not a fanboy, but those four series I really love. Probably with Tamers being my favorite, and I'm defending Universe and ghost Game to death
Honestly sounds like a valid way to be a Digimon fan. You love about half the series that are out there, so I’d consider you a Digimon fan. Heck, even tho I’ve seen all the anime and like most of them (not a big fan of tri), I don’t like 80% of Digimon Video Games. Outside of Digimon Story games, I struggle to have a good time with them

Just commenting now but i like what you did on this topic. I however am amused that you made it look like Tamers, Frontier and Savers' english dubs (and the later movies) were aired on Disney Channel in the US (and boy I wish! Imagine a timeline where Digimon was the anime to see on Disney Channel, airing alongside Lizzie McGuire and That's so Raven!), but just to correct, those 3 were aired on Toon Disney with the 1st 2 i mentioned even airing on the Disney's One Too block on UPN.
Also to add, in Japan the 1st 5 seasons, Digimon 2020 and Ghost Game were on Fuji TV, Xros Wars was on TV Asahi (as Dragon Ball Kai was on its timeslot, hence the different channel it was on) and Applimonsters was on TV Tokyo (probably for the same reason as Xros Wars, but i heard the reboot of Gegege no Kitaro was on that timeslot).
I had originally considered the network airing breakdown for the movies. But considering Toon Disney and UPN are both dead so I didn't want to confuse people who may not know. "Disney" was the easy shorthand. I did not really follow the Japanese network changes, thanks for that info!

Didn't the 02 Golden Digi Egg movie take place when Ken when Ken was starting to get back to normal? Like he takes a few days to deal with what he did as the Digimon Emperor so I assume while he's healing the movie is taking place?
Yep. That’s why I placed it after Episode 21 since that’s the episode they defeat the Digimon Kaiser and Ken starts his journey. Plus with XVeemon debuting in 22, it feels like the closest match

@@pokedigi1237 People think because the movie came out before then, it has to happen before. People also try and place Magnamon’s debut as the movie. Even tho the movie and show have different reasons for the Golden Digimental to appear.

Despite growing up with Digimon through VHS tapes I rented from my local library as a kid (dam I feel old 😭). I'm not super knowledgeable on the series so I found this extremely helpful. However, I did have one question. Excluding the Blu-Ray done by Discotek Media, where exactly can I watch all the other seasons if I want to? Oh and do u think Discotek would ever get the rights and release Blu-Rays for Digimon Adventure 02 & Tamers/Digimon: Seasons 2 & 3 (Which I had no idea was done by Saban 🤯)
Discotek has announced Adventure 02 already and I imagine they’ll get the others if they can. Most of the series are streaming on Hulu and Crunchyroll

Wait! Digimon the movie cannot be skipped until the new ones!!!! Digimon the movie is perfection. Literally not a bad part in the movie. As long as you skip Angela Anaconda thing. Literal perfection, I’m being serious. And it’s still holds up in2023. Anyone who says it doesn’t make sense or has bad punny jokes. They aren’t smart people so their advice is negated.
Oh I totally agree that Digimon the Movie is perfection. But I’m also coming at it from being a Digimon fan from the beginning and I worry it might be jarring for new viewers. I really prefer what they did with Movie 3 especially with the music and jokes cause the Japanese version of it puts me to sleep
Thankfully the upcoming Discotek release gets that short out of the way.

I rather pretend that Digimon Tri, Last Evolution aren't canon, since they pretty much feel like they are just made for fan service and nothing else, not to mention the writing for these films isn't that great in my opinion. My hope still is, if we will get Japanese versions of the original Digimon series, since the english dub can be pretty hard to watch with dumb censorship and cartoon sound effects. Even though I did watch Digimon Adventure 01 and 02 in English, for some reason in my country Latvia people apperantly disliked the Adventure 02 dub so bad that they showed Digimon Tamers and Frontier in Japanese instead.
Tri is a mixed bag for me. It's annoying as hell that it doesn't quite fit, but I loved the lore. You got to see the previous generation getting bodied and pulling a hail Mary, which was awesome.
@@paltraxMy only gripe with recent Digimon series, including the Adventure reboot is the overuse of Omnimon or Omegamon. As much as I like Omegamon myself, it feels like he is overused way too much in the recent Digimon series, including the new Adventure reboot that it makes other Digimon forms feel completely worthless. Not to mention how in the reboot, them unlocking Omegamon made no sense since neither Taichi & Yamato have yet to unlock WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon since Omegamon is the combined strength of two Mega or Ultimate level Digimon. But that's just my own personal opinion. I also wasn't fan of Adventure 02, especially the Dub. My biggest gripe was definitely the writing for Adventure 02. They could handled it better, but it felt like it was really rushed just to make a sequel. And making Davis or Daisuke a dumbass character didn't make things any better. I did watch finish watching Adventure 02 in Japanese, but even though the Japanese version is more tolerable to watch, it was still pretty bad.
That’s insane. The English dubs are sick! Subs suck cause Japanese people Can’t act. Voice act at least and the music is baaaaad. And I’m also glad digimon never has too much inner self exposition/fight exposition. Honestly Digimon might be the only good anime. Idk how anyone can defend the insane amounts of exposition. Straight up Bad writing.

It's funny I consider myself a big Digimon fan but I never got into Xros Wars or Appmon I just couldn't get into the way the Digivolution worked
